A friend booked us in for the 'Japanese Night' menu. We were all completely blown away by the quality of Japanese food at a traditional English pub and plan to go again soon. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I booked the restaurant on the basis of great reviews however when I arrived I was told there was no booking in my name and as lovely as Gordon was reputed to be he was quite rude. On showing him the booking confirmation for his establishment (as he declared there were two other pubs with the same name) which was booked through fork.com he reluctantly told us we could have a table. The only problem was there were only four tables in the pub, one of which was occupied and two were already reserved leaving the third pressed against a wall in the walk way. We declined to take up the table and left. Disappointed to say the least.

What a lovely experience this evening. We visited as its near to the hotel we are staying at and we had called for an enjoyable drink on Saturday afternoon. The hosts including chef Gordon couldn't have been more friendly. We chose based on Gordon's recommendations small starters of leek rarebit and spicy chicken wings followed by Gordon's home made pie and Japanese stir fry. Food was excellent tasty and home cooked. We would definitely return if staying in Brentford again. Excellent value for money it's just round the corner from the Premier Inn on Brentford High Street.

Such a shame to write this as we have been before and had a great time while staying at the Premier Inn next door, while Gordon the owner has always been cheerful, welcoming and a fantastic chef. But unfortunately it was not the case this time (Sunday 30th April around 6pm). Gordon was not working, and whoever the two clowns are that he has employed to cover for him are not doing his business any favours at all. One (Clown A; bloke with dark hair) was outside with a cigarette when we walked in,, "I'll be there in a minute." Then we asked for a table and ordered a bottle of wine. Wine arrived, which we opened then we asked for a menu (it was just plonked down), only to be told, "We don't serve food after 2pm on a Sunday." Really!? Why not mention this when we asked for a table? Unfortunately, by this point, the wine (a bottle of Pingo Grigio) had already been opened (by us) and poured. S we asked to settle up and wed find somewhere else. We asked how much the wine was. Clown B (bloke with fair hair) just shrugged and said, "I dunno... £27?" We did query this as it seemed really high. He didn't show us a wine list. He just shrugged again, so we paid and left. He could not have cared less. Real shame. Unfortunately we won't be going back.

Staying locally for a few days, we were looking for somewhere to eat that provided more than burgers or pizzas. Found this pub walking back from eating elsewhere on our first night. Called in on our second night and found a small friendly traditional pub which served a limited menu and real ales. The difference from others is that the menu includes Japanese dishes, cooked to order. The specials were Japanese curries but we opted for one Chicken Yakisoba and one veggie Yakisoba. Pleasantly surprised that we were asked what level we liked our chilli. Both dishes were to our individual tastes and very good. Will certainly eat here again when in the area.

Serendipity found me in Ferry Lane, Brentford one Sunday and this bright, flower festooned public house up a lane leading down to the ferry across the Thames (service long discontinued - with the opening of Kew Bridge downstream).Specialising in good old fashoined pub food within a tradional English pub there was a bit of a choice.Sunday being Sunday I chose the Sunday lunch of Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding and wasnt disappointed. Gordon Fry has a reputation for being a Chef with some skills honed across Berkshire public houses I understand - and I wasnt disappointed. There is a beer garden in the rear - but if you choose the sunny table and chairs outside - you might have to get there early - you'll be able to catch the world go by.A little up the road (upstream) is Syon Park built on the earlier Brigettine Monastry where a 14Century Barn is evidence of their of their farming traditiion. The English Civil War's Battle of Brentford took place locally is worth investigating in the villages to the west of London.

We visited a few weeks ago and arrived at 6pm as food is advertised outside, from 6 - 9pm in the evenings. We were told that the chef was having a rest and would probably come down to the kitchen at about 6.30pm. We ordered a drink and decided to wait, getting our meals about 7pm. The poor young bar staff were also getting flustered as there were problems with the larger barrel so my husband ended up having cider instead. No landlord / chef to help them sort this issue out. The food was tasty and plentiful so no complaints there. We decided to return today, arriving at 6pm and were told the chef was not starting to cook until 7pm. So twice now the pub has not kept to its advertised cooking hours making it it hard to see how we can take a chance and go back again, especially when on route to the cinema nearby.

We were staying round the corner at the Premier Inn in order to attend a wedding in Kew Gardens. We needed lunch before the wedding and dropped into the Watermans. I'd recommend it to anyone at all. Looks a bit gloomy inside but there is a wonderful garden out the back. Someone with some imagination has planted it well with colourful flowers overflowing round the edges. The cottage pie is to die for... well, at least it is as good if not better than my own and that is saying something LOL! The staff and landlord are lovely, friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend it for good pub grub!

Really nice friendly pub. We we're staying at the premier inn next door so popped in for a couple of drinks on Friday evening. Sat at the bar and chatted to the very friendly bar man and a few of the regulars. Really welcoming place. Lovely heated beer garden at the back too. We didn't eat here but the food looked lovely

For a Tuesday fairly full and a light cheery enough atmosphere. A really nice range of beers, I had the old English a dark beer and served without a head (now you know I am a Northerner, which I don't like so much, need my beer moustache). The beer however was very well kept, pulled well and went down great after my 3hr road trip across London!

I have been going at this coffee store for a while now. The staff is amazing! These girls are fast, polite, they care about the customer and also they keep the store clean and tidy ! Way better place for enjoying your coffee than any other in the area!

The Roastery is lovely for a take-away coffee or food. I often stop by and have tried a decent amount on the menu. I'd recommend the chai latte or the iced chai latte in the summer. The service can be slow and the staff are not always welcoming. But they do a great coffee!
