We visit the pub on a matchday and sometimes during the week, we always eat. Yesterday we went in pre match, the food was good, the food arrived quickly the waitress was lovely but the manageress is so miserable and rude. One of our party can only eat soft food with a limited matchday menu they opted for the ribs with gravy and mash. The manageress said having the mash rather than chips was OK, but we had to pay £2.50 for the gravy?!!! This is the first time we've had to do that! Although we feel £2.50 was excessive, it was the general manner and attitude of the manageress. Not for the first time, yes, matchdays are busy the staff are fine, polite and 😃 On a non matchday, she is rude and miserable too. You are in the hospitality business service with a smile cost's, nothing you should be grateful you are taking money. When we visit other establishments in the area on a matchday, we never find the staff as miserable as her. Quite honestly, if you aren't happy in your job, quit! Ps We chose the express because it's the nearest for one of the party that currently has mobility problems.

This place was hoppin'! Lots of options for seating. We were surprised to see daily specials, and just happened to be a Wednesday, steak special night. We each ordered a different steak. They weren't 5 star tender, but combined with all the offerings, sauces; I'd give 4.5. The value well worth it. The pub pup definitely was comfortable with all the activity! We will head back for sure

The pub was busy as there was a football match on at nearby Brentford. I got to the bar within about 5 minutes, which I thought was fine. I then stood there for 15 minutes whilst the admittedly busy staff didn't look up or make eye contact with anyone. This meant that just one section of the bar was served. After 15 minutes of ignorance I decided to Foxtrot Oscar and cross the road to Sainsbury's, where I bought a bottle of beer. I saved myself about £5 and had plenty of room to drink it. Staff need training.

Popped in here for lunch without doing any proper research or anything beforehand and what an absolute gem of a pub. My sister had the shepherds pie which was so delicious and well seasoned. I had the fish n chips and of course it was also delicious, the chunky chips were just heavenly. We also got deserts and our favourite was the churros which were crisp & slightly chewy and the caramel and chocolate dips were absolutely lush. The decor was warm and welcoming as well. Lots of old timey framed art and photos everywhere, Christmas decor was already up and royal family merchandise lining some of the walls too was so lovely. To top off the entire experience there was also the family pets (I assume) wandering about. The calm and friendly Labrador and the super chill cat round the back were both excellent additions and being an animal lover I felt instantly at ease here because of them. Thank you for allowing me to be graced by their presence 🤣 I live nearly an hour away but I cannot wait to return here 🥰

I had a really bad experience with one of the bar staff who would not even begin to consider that she might have made a simple mistake even when I was willing to put it behind us. When I first arrived they said there was a problem in the kitchen and they could not serve food until it was resolved but we could order now and once the issue was resolved they'll start making the food. I didn't mind that too much, it happens. I order a margherita pizza and a meal for my girlfriend as well as a few drinks for the table. The woman who served me keeps on getting distracted in the middle of my order and I keep having to try to get her attention again to finish my order. Again still not too worried at this stage, we sit down and wait patiently and eventually my girlfriends meal comes out, I assume this means the issue in the kitchen was resolved and I assume my pizza won't be far behind, my girlfriend finishes her meal and my pizza still hasn't arrived so my girlfriend asks one of the servers about the pizza. The server apologises and shortly after he brings a peperoni pizza out to us. Not the pizza I ordered but I'm not one to complain and I just eat the pizza. A little while later the woman at the bar who I ordered from says that my order did not contain a pizza and that I had eaten someone else's pizza. At this stage I'm pretty sure I did order a pizza but I decided to be diplomatic and I say that I very well could have forgotten to order the pizza so I'll come up and pay for the pizza that got sent out even though it was more expensive and not what I wanted. This is not enough for the woman who insists that this must be my fault and refuses to even acknowledge that she could also have made a mistake. She insists that if I had ordered a pizza it would have been put on the system as if she was an infallible human incapable of making mistakes. My girlfriend later confirmed to me that she's sure I did in fact order the pizza and that she would have corrected me if I had not. She's much better at remembering that sort of thing than me so I'm inclined to believe that over what either I or the woman at the bar say. Either way neither of us know for sure which one of us made the mistake but I can't imagine being so delusional that I'd be unwilling to admit that it's a possibility I could have made a mistake. My recommendation is to go to "One Over the Ait" over the road instead, the food is great, it's a good pub for a pint and I've never had an issue like this there and I'm sure if I did they would handle it much more gracefully.

Oh dear. This house used to be a reliable source of real cider. Today, there were 5 cider handpumps, which looked great from a distance. However it turned out that 4 were mere fruit- flavoured concoctions, and the only actual cider was Gwent Y Draig's 'Black Dragon', which is widely available in Wetherspoons so not much of a 'find'. I tried a half of one of the concoctions, Seacider 'Honeycombe Infused' but was not impressed - nowhere near as good as the real Seacider cider. Down from 5* to 3*.

During my recent band tour, I was recommended to visit *The Express Tavern*, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience! This place has a unique charm that sets it apart from any other pub I’ve been to. The atmosphere is cozy, with a blend of traditional pub vibes and modern touches, making it the perfect spot to unwind. But what truly blew me away was their Sunday roast. It was beyond expectations—perfectly cooked meats, rich gravy, and all the trimmings done just right. Each bite was flavorful and comforting, reminding me of a home-cooked meal but elevated to another level. If you’re ever in the area, *The Express Tavern* is an absolute must-visit. I went there yesterday and ordered fish and chips. When it arrived, it looked really delicious, golden crispy outside the battered fish with crispy chips but then when I started to cut the fish to bite full size, I started to smell something off. It smelled like toilet mops so I looked around to find out where the smell was coming from and it was the fish I ordered... I was so sad because I was so hungry. I tried to eat but smell was awful and the texture was so slimy. So I told bartender that fish must be off because it stinks. He then took it back to the kitchen and came back to me saying fish is not off. I wish they admitted the fact and make me a new one because I hardly could touch it and I was starving but because they couldn't admit, I just decided to get a refund instead and leave. Such a shame..

After booking a table for the garden area, on arrival we were told to queue up at the bar to be seated. Once at the bar we were then told to choose any table available and that the bar staff cannot leave the bar. When looking for a garden table, there were none free and therefore we had to stick to a table inside. What is the point in the booking system if you don’t actually get a table reserved for you? Had a great Sunday lunch here five years ago, so good that we booked up for Xmas day lunch that year (so-so). On the spur of the moment we went for Sunday lunch today. Sadly it's gone downhill. The first problem is the barman who clearly hates his job. Passive-aggressive is putting it kindly. We ordered Roast Lamb and Roast Beef: both were frankly awful, fatty and grey, the vegetables overcooked, the "proper" gravy gloopy and tasteless. Like a pub lunch from the 1970s. And midway through our meal the pub dog decided to first pee on the astroturf under the next table, and five minutes later, poo right in front of the restaurant door. Shame, this place was really innovative during Covid lockdown and still has lots of potential, but clearly needs a change of personnel.

Something went horribly wrong on Mothers Day. All the conservatory was fully booked for Mothers Day lunches and we 4 turned up at 1.30 for our table. The pub was very busy and we waited 50 minutes after booking in and then asked where our food was, having been asked to give our menu choices several days earlier. The staff did not have any record of our pre order and said they were short staffed. A bar staff member finally came over at 2.45 and re took our order. We noticed that groups that had come into the pub and ordered food at the bar were being served first, presume this was because their orders went straight on to the till. We still waited over 30 minutes before our starter was delivered, and our puddings were finally finished at 5pm. We would have walked out except it was bucketing down with rain the whole time and I knew that everywhere else in the area was already full. Whilst we noticed that other tables also had delays in their food delivery ours was exceptional, and we had a whole new set of fellow diners when we left, some of whom were the third lot at certain tables. The quality of food here is excellent, it was the poor service that was a let down. I would understand if they had not realised the numbers coming but they knew how many people had already booked. For the first time ever we refused to pay the service charge and felt comfortable about doing so. It won't stop me from going back, but certainly never again on Mothers Day.

We loved this place. It looks and feels like an old fashioned traditional pub but the service is brilliant. The staff are Professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Natasha especially was excellent. The range of wines by the glass are good -including champagne and there is a great selection of keg and cask beers, least half a dozen of each. The bar nibbles are great and the food is good and very good value. At night with all the candles lit the atmosphere is lovely.

Appalling service and staff. Decided to try their steak night, my rare steak turned up as a well done piece of leather, they forgot the mushroom and tomato and the chips were undercooked. Decided to give them a second try and do rib night. This time they decided to up the ante by replacing bad food with no food. They somehow managed to lose the meal in the kitchen. To be fair the staff did spend twenty minutes blaming each other, going through receipts etc instead of getting the meal so they did manage to keep themselves busy. In their defense the people who actually received their meals did seem to enjoy it, I wouldn't know. I suppose that they had to do something rather than clear tables. In both nights there I don't think I saw staff do one table check or clear a glass or a plate from a table. Both occasions the staff could not give any more of an impression about not caring or offering anything. Normally I would expect.. well maybe the meal after you point it it, but that never appeared to be an option. Used to be a good bar, I don't know how it has got so poor.

Nice pub and a decent pint of guinness but the staff are not very friendly. I've been a few times now so it's not a one off or limited to one person, they're all miserable!

Excellent pub selling a huge range of regional beers not normally available in London. Food is good and reasonably priced. Good place for large groups.

Recently, I went there for a birthday meal with my friend, not knowing what to expect from the Steak Night. We were so surprised! It was one of the loveliest meals we had in a long time. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the portion was just right, one drink included as well. Not to mention that the service was just the best and made our midweek evening really special. Thank you!

My recent Christmas Day booking at Express Tavern was nothing short of a disaster. It was hands down the worst service I have ever encountered while eating out. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that the staff lacked professionalism. Their rudeness was palpable, and it set the tone for what should have been a joyous occasion. It's astonishing how such behavior is tolerated in the hospitality industry, especially on a day as special as Christmas. The nightmare continued as we endured an excruciatingly long wait for each course of our 3-course meal. It took a staggering 3.5 hours to complete what should have been a straightforward dining experience. I could have prepared a better meal with my eyes closed in less time, and it's heartbreaking that this is how we spent our Christmas. This level of unprofessional service is simply unacceptable, especially on a day meant for celebration. Express Tavern has left a lasting impression as an establishment that not only failed to meet our expectations but also tarnished what should have been a memorable Christmas celebration. I strongly advise against dining here, as you're likely to have an experience that falls far short of your expectations, especially during special occasions like Christmas.

Old pub with good vibes. Popped in before the football, the place was packed with both sets of fans with no trouble.

The Green Man is a cozy and friendly spot, perfect for colleagues looking to gather for occasions like leaving dos or Secret Santa parties. This year, we chose it for our Secret Santa gathering and truly enjoyed its tranquil atmosphere and traditional pub setting. While I didn’t get the chance to dine in, we ordered some snacks and French fries, which were decent in terms of taste. The loo was clean, and the staff were warm and welcoming.
