Had a lovely meal on a Sunday evening. Brilliant service and food. Will be back.

Brilliant country pub with fresh hearty food. Great quality food. House made burgers, artisan bread ploughman’s and huge portion sizes (but they have smaller portions also) Service was friendly and helpful also.

Great pub in Lyndhurst. Food and service was excellent and good value for money.

Went for Sunday roast and it was good. Good value too. Nice environment and nice staff. All in all lovely

I took my elderly mother here for lunch (she's 88yrs). Why? Because they do smaller portions for half price. Which for her was more than enough, and to be honest the smaller meal was plenty as well. We both had the steak and ale pie which was really tasty. Would I have it again? Definitely. Would I go back? Definitely. Do we recommend Waterloo Arms? Most definitely.

Had a nice meal here. Lovely old pub with decent, but expensive beers. We didn’t notice the optional 10% service charge on the menu, which was already applied to our bill! It’s hardly optional, if you have to ask for it to be removed!

Visited The Waterloo Arms on two occasions whilst staying in Lyndhurst. Really friendly staff, lovely clean cosy environment and super tasty food! Love the fact that all the meals offer standard and small appetite sizes. Our favourite pub in the area!

Great service, the staff were friendly and accommodating. My mum can’t have garlic or onion based food and they were happy to find out things. Mum was over the moon when she was able to eat a streak and ale pie. All home made and brought to us quickly. Good prices with smaller portions available

Sunday lunch as per photo Expectations were dashed, How can you possibly not have Yorkshire on Sunday??? I looked everywhere but to no avail . It had gone AWOL. Where was it ! No mention of deletion. Spoilt an otherwise good experience . Pretty old fashioned Boozer with attentive staff./ They should offer what they advertise

From the moment we entered the pub we were made to feel welcome and the host was very accommodating with all our questions. The menu has a smaller plate option which is quite a rarity but a fantastic option for people with a smaller appetite .The pub was full so it was possible we were in for a wait for our food as there was 9 of us but how wrong we were all the meals came out in a timely fashion and were excellent from the Sunday roast to the ploughman's . We will put on our best pubs in the New Forest list when we have visitors ,

The food is lovely. It's a great place to go if you are celiac or require gluten free food. Lovely on early evenings if you don't want too much noise.

We were visiting Lyndhurst for a couple of days to walk some of the New Forest and found this pub on TripAdvisor, so I booked a table for our first night. And I'm so glad I did!! It was very busy, so it's definitely better to book and the food was really good. My partner had the calves liver, which was delicious and perfectly cooked, and I had the Sea bass fillets, also really tasty. The ales are good here too!! Tip: It's not far to walk from Lyndhurst central, but bring a torch as it's down a country road.

Only had starters, but the food was lovely.

We visited on 23rd Dec to grab a post-meal drink. We asked how much the mulled wine was and told it was £7.50 of which I exclaimed that I felt it was expensive. The lady behind the bar informed us that was typical. We later discovered that it was more expensive than any other place we went. Typical prices were actually more like £6. We bought some regardless, hoping for the best. It didn't taste very good and had been 'diluted' with orange juice. We did agree that despite this experience, we would like to come back and try the food because the menu looked good!

We had an excellent roast dinner lunch. The foods was fantastic, the staff were friendly and helpful. The pub had a wonderful atmosphere with great ales on tap I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit, enjoy. The pork cackling was the best I have ever experienced, all the food was divine. There are veggie options as well.

Overall the meal was good and staff excellent. However the mulled wine at £7.95 was a disgrace. I drink many over the Christmas period and can honestly say it was the worst ever! It was a peculiar murky orange colour with no sign of deep red wine. It had huge lumps of orange in it and tasted of nothing but orange. Where were the wine and spices? Spoiled the experience for me though will go back as meal was fine. I did mention this at the time but was met with a flippant ' Oh sorry about that' as she turn away.

Fantastic friendly pub in the forest.Food is always delicious and great value whether normal size or the smaller option.Such a lovely atmosphere whatever time of year.Was always a great real ale pub but even better now with the inclusion of Timothy Taylor Landlord. We dropped it on the off chance fir some dinner. We were made very welcome and had a lovely meal. Lovely to see a pub that does smaller appetite portions for most of the menu. We will be back.

This is real hidden gem of a pub. It's got an olde worlde feel, with friendly staff, tasty food and is excellent value for money. I had the vegetarian nut roast which was REALLY nice and only £12.95. It looked like every table was taken, so Sundays are clearly very popular. We overheard over people saying they go there often and can understand why. I'll definitely be going back again.

We had a fabulous meal here , found through Google reviews and so glad we did. The service was great , food delicious with good sized portions, good atmosphere and the fact we could bring our dog was a huge bonus ! Will definitely visit again if In the area and highly recommend ⭐️

Very cosy place, service was prompt, for starters we had cheesy garlic bread and halloumi sticks which were DELICIOUS - the best garlic bread I've ever eaten. For mains we had mac 'n' cheese with bacon on top and chicken burger, again very yummy, the bacon on top of my mac 'n' cheese was the nicest bacon I've had 🥓 For pudding we shared sticky toffee pudding which was lovely aswell 😋 Highly recommend! 👌🏼

It was average food that’s all I can say. Typical pub grub. Pie was ok veg were ordinary peas carrot shavings? Undercooked broccoli yes as I say average grub

Having visited a few years ago and thoroughly enjoying our meals, we were slightly worried as to any changes. We shouldn't have been, it is a pleasure from our arrival, to the delivery of the meals, to receiving the bill. The menu hadn't changed very much, there were enough delicious sounding choices that appeared very quickly and were absolutely stunning, empty plate time. My husband had a half of Dorset Knob a really tasty local brew. He said it was a very good beer, and I think I will get the car keys next time we visit. The food was amazing, the service efficient and friendly, the drinks were scrumptious and the bill was, as we expected. I guess that by telling you about the Waterloo Arms, Lyndhurst, we will have to book a table next time, however if you want to eat lovely food in a very pleasant inn then you can't go wrong by giving them a visit.

First of all it’s dog friendly, we were made very welcome the moment we arrived. We didn’t have a booking , but it wasn’t a problem. The menu had plenty of choices . The lady who served us was very friendly and professional. The food arrived quickly and spot on what we ordered. Try he food was absolutely lovely, great value for money. All the staff were very attentive. We really enjoyed our food and lovely surroundings. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for a spur of the moment Sunday Lunch. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked meat and the homemade yorkshires were chefs kiss!! Couldn’t fault it. Also amazing stuffing!

We had lunch with friends after a walk around Lyndhurst. The menu was extensive and there was a specials board with some interesting choices. We had mahi-mahi with thai red sauce, fish and chips, burger and steak and ale pie. Service was prompt and staff pleasant. Didn't get a 5 because the vegetables served with the meals were undercooked and bland. There was a special for dessert too but we didn't have room for that.

What a lovely little find, a proper cosy country pub. Booked ahead for lunch as we'd never been before and we were offered a very warm welcome when we arrived. Staff were lovely very friendly and looked after us from start to finish. Menu was varied and had a great selection, even offering smaller plates too which was great for us. We will definitely be back as the Sunday roasts sound amazing! It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Beautiful and quaint village pub serving food all day. Their soup of the day was fantastic and some of the other dishes that we tried we fairly good. The fact they do do smaller sizes of main dishes is great for people who might not be too hungry or might want smaller portions.

Group of 5 adults, a toddler and 4 dogs well catered for. Delicious food and fantastic service. Will definitely be a must visit pub each year when holidaying, may even be back again this week.

A fantastic find on our last day of the holiday. The pub had a really good feel of an old traditional homely pub. We had 4 mains, deserts & drinks. Excellent food, the trio of venison sausages were delicious. The different pies also fantastic and the apple & peach crumble very good. Great staff who were friendly and helpful.

Went for Sunday lunch, pub very busy so sat in garden I had roast pork which was lovely wld be nice if specified veg as had a cheese dish on plate which I can't eat plus peas which I don't like otherwise meat roasties yorshire stuffing carrots&broccoli all delicious! Have eaten many times over the years and has been good, last night was not. Whitebait soggy batter around fish was uneatable the gentleman along side us had been forgotten and had to reorder

What an absolutely cracking pub. Fantastic food and staff. The two ladies on duty when we were there at the beginning of the month were friendly and so helpful. The food was delicious, it was prepared and presented well. In fact the pub was so good we visited again before returning home. A fantastic chilli, macaroni cheese and a lasagne. Very large menu to choose from. Even the patrons in the garden were friendly and chatted together. We will definitely be back next time we are nearby. Great work Waterloo Arms.

Staff lovely, great atmosphere and decor. Food was delicious, one of us had the hunters chicken, other the mac n cheese with prawns. Great quality, great portions and great value. £85 for three courses each, extras on the side and two ciders. Wouldn't get food of this quality at a chain pub for that price! Will definitely be back!

Lovely setting, lovely staff, nice lunch menu nice garden, and outside undercover eating area to keep away from the wasps, definitely worth a visit if in Lyndhurst, very reasonable prices too

Perhaps we got them on a bad day? Cheerful wait staff, but fish finger baguette was way more bread than (cheap) fish finger, and the tartare sauce was very vinegary. Bit disappointed as we battled the Lyndhurst traffic to get here based on other reviews.

A charming thatched pub in a quiet position. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious! I liked that they gave the option of smaller plates for less hungry appetites. They are also dog friendly which is a big plus.

We had a lunch here once before which was very good and returned for dinner as we were back in Lyndhurst. There is plenty of choice on the menu and all the food we have had there has been very good. Great choice of beers with a large garden to the rear when the weather allows.

After reading reviews for this pub… I was so looking forward to visiting and having a family meal out. It’s a very nice pub and staff were very welcoming & extremely friendly. However we were so disappointed with the quality of food. I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case as place itself and staff were great. I haven’t experienced this poor level of food to this extent in such a long time. Starters were average, but edible. However our main courses were horrible, tasteless and total waste of money. Unfortunately would never go back and definitely not recommended to eat at this pub.

The Waterloo arms is a super friendly little pub in the heart of the new forest. The staff were lovely and the garden was lush. The food is well priced for a nice dining experience but I did find the crumble to be a little stodgy for my own taste but otherwise the food was perfectly presented and service was very speedy. My dog also enjoyed hanging out in the garden. Would gladly revisit ☺️

A wonderful hidden gem, with the loveliest staff, who make you feel welcome, either on the phone or in person. This olde world pub is very pretty inside and out. Lovely uplifting words can be seen on the beams, the food is outstanding and they offer smaller portion sizes as well as large for those with smaller appetites. The lasagne was heavenly and the creme brulee gorgeous. Every person on the staff was friendly, happy and keen to help. Hope to visit again.

Amazing ploughman's lunch. Took a gamble to drive down from London for the day, with the aim of having lunch in the Waterloo Arms (can't get a ploughman's anywhere round here!) and it was well worth the drive!! Will definitely be back. Great pub, friendly staff, and dog friendly. Thank you!

What a fantastic pub, even though we were running late it was not a problem, the staff were courteous and friendly. The pub is dog friendly. For a starter we both had whitebait not your generic breaded frozen stuff, just floured and fried accompanied with homemade tatare sauce and a salad garnish. My partner chose a beef lasagne for her main this was accompanied by garlic bread and salad. I chose the mac and cheese topped with Stilton, accompanied with garlic bread and salad. For dessert my partner had the honeycomb smash cheesecake superb. The dog had two sausages and a hard boiled egg. Highly recommend this establishment.

Lovely pub. Slightly off the beaten track but a good menu and lovely staff. No problem in making a booking and quick service. Gorgeous scampi and chunky chips and my wife had a burger that she said was delicious too. Both had strawberry sponge for desert. Absolutely spot on. Good experience and worth a visit for sure!

Food, service and atmosphere all good. Although on the day the soft drinks/soda etc pump was not working, so no spritzer or squash for the kids!

Average Sunday lunch. The price initially seemed competitive but then the during payment asked for an optional service charge of 10% taking the bill to way more than we thought. Most won't want to argue the charge....but we won't return again as I don't like the sneaky charge....it's disappointing and naughty.

Went to this lovely characterful pub/restuarant tonight. Lovely welcome. Great varied menu, not silly prices and food came to the table piping hot. Nothing not to love this place and would love to return

Very disappointing! Have searched out good Sunday Roast venues, The Waterloo Arms came up high on the list. This however was not our experience! Two of our party had the sirloin of beef and the other two the mixed meats. The Yorkshire puddings were like cardboard and tasteless, and judging by the number being returned to the kitchen we were not alone. The beef on all 4 dishes was very tough and stringy with sinew. On mentioning our disappointment, the manager apologised and said it would be reflected on our final bill! When the bill came it was more an insult- £3.19 off two of the plates and £3.40 off the other 2. We did have desserts which were fine and the service from table staff was very good. However we will not be returning.

Lovely plaice. Friendly pub, great food, decent price, and good trade on a midweek evening. Really enjoyed the plaice on the specials menu. Home made pizza, gluten free, beer garden and dog friendly too.

This pub is absolutely chocolate-box pretty and has a lovely garden which would have been almost enough to commend it, but we were surprised by the variety and taste of the food they offer. I was especially pleased to see they catered for gluten intolerant people like myself even in the pizza and desserts department which is not common. Brownie points! And to top it all, they have Aspalls on draught which made my husband super happy

Found this pub on the Internet before we went to Brockenhurst for 4 nights. Short taxi ride from our hotel. Lovely okde worlde pub. Good service, very good food snd good value for money particularly the wine. Would def visit again

At Waterloo napoleon did surrender as did I to the charms of this fabulous pub. It's got character and charm in abundance. Ticked all the boxes for the quintessential great British boozer. Voudriez vous? Aha.

Outstanding service, great food and prices

We arrived on a Sunday normally we only go weekdays the carpark empty the outside underneath area empty and all outside empty only few inside told they were full and they would get confused if we ate outside so sent away. I'm glad they did as the white rabbit was full but served us in bar

We visited for dinner early on a Monday evening (about 17:30) so we were the only people there. The welcome was warm and the food was lovely (almost a retro menu which was great).
