Waterfront Grill in Brighton and Hove

Service leaves a lot to be desired, none of the staff seemed to know what they were doing. The 20% blue light discount that was stated on the menu wasn’t applied for any of our meals even after we asked. Cocktails are overpriced and tasted bad. Food was mediocre at best and certainly didn’t make up for the poor experience combined with a 1 star food hygiene rating (we only noticed on the way out). Please go to any of the other restaurants nearby

Well, we stopped here today for Tea. The chap that welcomed us was friendly. Outside, it says hot drinks £2.99. So 2 teas we expected £6. No because we wanted milk in our tea it was an extra £1.50 haha....... Only after complaining the milk was refunded. The cleanliness of the place didn't look great. Even the tray that the drinks came over in was dirty. So I dread the behind the scenes

Waited over 20 mins for 2 cocktails. Staff didn't know how to make them then gave excuse they didn't have the ingredients. The staff were lovely and did explain what was going on got what we ordered in the end. A cocktail in a tiny martini glass for 13.50 .

Went in last night awful atmosphere asked for a double kraken and coke and when I ask for ice gave me an attitude and huffed at me the food we waited an hour and a half and when it came out it was cold Asked for a refund and they refused Avoid at all cost plenty of other places at Brighton this is the worst place I ever been too honestly had better service at a kebab shoo at 3am in the morning

If thats what they call making drinks, might as well scoop a pint from the toilet at wetherspoons and drink it, rude staff, quite unwelcoming atmosphere, will not be coming back

The place was really loud and caused my autistic son bad anxiety. When he was stimming the staff were rude and unapologetic and the food came out nearly 50 minutes after ordering. Overall me and Corey will definitely not be returning

Poor service, no one present at the bar the majority of a friday night, not answering to the bar bell after multiple rings. Ordered tapas which took ages to come out - even though we were the only ones in who had ordered food! Dishes were not brought out at the same time and only had half a tiny menu available. Food was all frozen, either undercooked or overcooked. Left hungry and disappointed. Do not reccommend.

Not a good experience. Menu not as seen on the website. Tapas? not brought out at the same time. Ran out of chicken so couldn’t give us the chicken skewers but didn’t tell us until we asked where the chicken dish was. Forgot the garlic bread and then gave us a dismal cheesy garlic bread after everything else had been eaten Food undercooked Really disappointing

honestly worst experience in hospitality, the place was empty when we arrived and was no service from the get go, no prosecco, or glasses even tho advertised on the menu. no biggie, ordered different things and let them know we were interested in food, which they then informed us they didn’t have. then when tried to pay/split the bill, we were told it wasn’t possible at all! ridiculous and rude staff

We haven't tried this place as a restaurant yet only as a bar. The place has a nice atmosphere and the drinks are well priced. It's good to see an independent business here in the marina however, I would like to make one point and that is the music needs to be turned down a little during the afternoons and early evenings as that's the time most people want to have a chat with their friends and family. OK, turn the music up later in the evening when we've had a chance to chat. Overall a great new addition to the marina. Well done.

We had 4 cocktails 3@£9 and 1@£8 each . The two pina coladas were just a glass of ice cubes , a very thin small glass as well with little alcohol in them. I so wished I had spoken to the bar person to complain, but I didn’t and I regret that now . I’m writing this so you may look and review your content and presentation of your cocktails. We’d be happy to help you .

Amazing atmosphere,beautiful cocktails and nibbles! The staff cannot do enough for you and the mixologist is very passionate in what he does and will make you something special and to your taste in seconds of meeting you. This place is lively,fun,romantic and special ❤️

We were going to another (chain) restaurant further down because we had a discount voucher for there. We stopped to look at the menu here at The Waterfront on the way. Sam the waiter was a very nice helpful person and not at all pushy. He let us know exactly what was in the dishes (sometimes you only get the main order and have to order sides on top) He showed us the full menu for us to make a decision as to whether to eat here. The price of the main meal included potatoes and a small salad salad. We thought about it and decided to try it out. We made the right decision to stay. My Swordfish and my husbands Tuna were cooked to perfection. That told us there was a very good chef in the kitchen. Fish is so easy to overcook but this was succulent and tasty. The price of these dishes was reasonable and the portions were a good size. We would definitely eat here again if eating in the Marina. A very good lunch was had today, many thanks.

A pleasant evening meal in wonderful location. Wanting seafood this was the perfect choice. All our dishes were tasty and plentiful. The swordfish was the star of the dishes. The server was attentive and friendly Prices were very reasonable

The snapper was ordinary, the linguini was tasty but pasta way over cooked. Chef needs to learn two Italian words. Al dente!!!

Came here as a young couple, variety of food on the menu, food was lovely and atmosphere was pleasant. Staff were very helpful and enthusiastic although I think a waiting area should be allocated for new customers looking a little lost :)

I have never been to this restaurant before and decided to give it a go for a date with my girlfriend. Honestly didn’t know what to expect but was blown away, could not believe how quiet it was though on a Friday night. Definitely a hidden gem at the marina, the staff were unbelievable with their service and friendliness. Prices were very reasonable and the setting of the restaurant itself was magnificent, a nice modern design with a lovely view on the seafront and was nicely complimented with some tasteful Christmas decorations during this festive period. Thank you for helping it make a night to remember will most likely return again!

We came for a weekend away and had booked a restaurant in town but didn't feel like going into town, you have all the usual chain restaurants on the Marina so thought we'd try this one instead. The young guys waiting tables were very polite and lovely and the food was amazing, maybe a little more expensive than some of the restaurants but worth it.

Great location. The staff are friendly and polite but That's about it. Food is overpriced for the quality served. Not a bad restaurant but there is definitely a lot better within the Marina.

Advertise in the menu that the chicken burger is actually chicken breast burger but its actually chicken mince mixed with something else very disappointing especially at 14-50 and a very small amount of fries such a shame as when I went about a month ago it was chicken breast and the fries were a lot more really nice then

We went here about a month ago and I had the grilled chicken breast burger and fries and although it was expensive 15-95 it was really nice and plenty of fries so decided to go back yesterday and have the same only this time there was half the amount of fries and the chicken was actually made up from chicken mince mixed with something else and it wasn't at all nice especially when you're paying that sort of money so won't be going back

we ate here at the weekend the pasta was nice the steak was shocking full of grissel and made my wife ill we will not be returning for a second visit the staff were freindly and polite and it was reasonably priced not a good experience for us here so hence the 3 stars

Brilliant like sitting in the med, Grilled sardines , seafood and cold beer. brilliant. If you don’t like fish or meat and want to eat some sawdust in brine there are better restaurants leave the seats for the meat and fish lovers 😏

We recently celebrated my birthday at this place .. we had a lovely experience, the food is really nice , fresh ingredients, really delicious 😋,.. the staff are nice and friendly as well , the view is lovely and relaxing 😌 We coming back definitely, highly recommended 👌 😍

Service was good- very friendly and attentive staff. Food was nice enough but not special enough to warrant the eye watering prices. For £50 a head( 2 courses) inc 3 drinks and a tip I would expect fine dining as opposed to the sort of fodder you expect in somewhere like Prezzo. Oh and for goodness sake- get someone to go in and dust the ladies bathrooms- they were absolutely filthy!

Menu mainly fish, no vegetarian options. Portions were large and very expensive. Less food and lower the prices will definitely need to happen for this place to survive. At £9 a pint and £4.50 for a small bottle of coke it leaves you with a bad taste. The floors were sticky, the ladies toilets were like a night club at 2 in the morning. Not what I expected.

This restaurant seems to change its name every other week and has had multiple ownerships since opening. It appears to have been refurbished and looks very nice. It's never been a first rate fish restaurant, which is a shame as the Marina could do with one, it's always had a substantial Italian element to its menu, nothing wrong with Italian but why not concentrate on fish and shellfish? How about some oysters and fresh crab? What they offer are fairly pedestrian dishes with quite big portions, cooked reasonably well but the price of the food and drink is extortionate. Many of the dishes are more expensive than their equivalents in the Ivy and this restaurant can't justify that. Cheapest bottle of white wine £28. Seriously? The restaurant service was covered by one man on the lunchtime that we went but he managed superbly. All in all poor value for money but you won't go home hungry.

Have walked past this restaurant 100s of times but finally decided to give it a try and don’t know why we waited so long. The service was some of the best service I’ve experienced and the food was not only delicious but really generous too. We had the grilled sardines and muscles for starters followed by the sea bass fillets and swordfish. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted so fresh. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Highly recommend.

A lot of variety of fish served by friendly waiters. The seabream was very tasty, the sole was good but not amazing, I didn't like that they put in both a yellow sauce but they didn't mention it in the menu and I was expecting to be just grilled with no sauce

Super food & service Very impressed . First visit

Draft beer was great, I ordered Penne al Salmon, was delicious but it had some hard parts of vegetables.

Overall disappointed. Prawn cocktail came out warm from where the prawns had been defrosted. Both Steaks came out with blood oozing across the whole plate meaning the chips were soggy. Seems like steak had not been rested which prevents this. In fairness after sending the steaks back the chef did pop out to check if they were okay. Noticed the people next to us also sent food back. But the Waiting staff were lovely and attentive. The atmosphere and decor in the restaurant was nice. Just food quality let it down unfortunately.

My partner and I visited The Waterfront Grill at the weekend and yes we were blessed with wonderful weather but I felt it important to say the Calamari starter and two main meals of lobster linguine and fillet steak were cooked to perfection and presentation was stunning. We experienced an outstanding level of customer service from Jake. He was the absolute example of quality customer service delivery, warm, polite friendly and engaging. Set us up with the perfect table setting and nothing too much trouble. His fellow waiters were equally as engaging so this restaurant deserves a 5 star review for the whole team. We will definitely be back!

What an amazing lunch we had. Fantastic food, great value for money. The seafood was exceptionally fresh and the menu is really varied so there’s something for everyone.

Had dinner here to celebrate the old mans 60th birthday last night. Food was lovely, great portion sizes & Dad loved the T-Bone Steak!! The staff were really friendly and provided great customer service. They even helped out with the surprise birthday cake we sorted too. Would highly recommend a visit here, thanks 😊!

This is a little gem tucked away amongst all the other restaurants on the Marina. Really clean and friendly restaurant. Just the most amazing menu with fantastic fish dishes . Quality of food is exceptional - so good that I had 3 courses and all were excellent and superb value. The ambience of the restaurant is perfect. Amazing service from Lisa - so friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed my evening here and I will definitely be visiting again - I need to try all the other dishes on the menu!!

Starter nice, but my main was skate wings that smelled and tasted of ammonia. Apparently this isn't too unusual with skate but could have been avoided. I only ate half of it. I'm still leaving a 4 star review because it's a good venue, friendly staff and a good menu selection.

I had a pre Cinema Dinner in the Waterfront Grill , i ordered the Scallops for starters which was amazing followed by Chicken Realle which was also amazing ,the 2 young ladies and Jake were really attentive and couldnt do enough for us , this wasnt our first time and will cerainly not be the last.

Excellent choice of menu, friendly and very efficient service. Lovely location for a relaxed lunch or late evening meal. The Waterfront Grill will definitely be on our return to list.

Called up to book a table and was told that my partner and I could make our way down at any time in the evening and there would be space in the restaurant. Arrived and was told that there would be a 40 minute wait for a table and then I was told by another waitress that we couldn't sit down in the restaurant even though the restaurant was under half full. Won't bother going back for that service.

awful experience, waited ages for drinks followed by overpriced starters. main meals took about 45 minutes after the starters to come out with other tables nearby experiencing problems as well. chicken burger came out raw and was sent back to the kitchen to be told it was on “standby”. seafood spaghetti had closed mussels and clams which are obviously inedible, not impressed. manager couldnt quite grasp that we couldnt eat the food that was brought out to us. waitresses were lovely and handled the situation better than the manager/owner and kitchen combined. wont be returning.

I visited Brighton with my wife and a dear friend. Both my friend and I are Sussex University post-graduate from the eighties. I have fond memories of Brighton and yesterday we decided to visit. We had a lunch at the Waterfront Grill at he Brighton Marina. Believe me I was blown away with the quality of the food. Fish is my favourite food and this was really heaven for me. The starter was wonderful scallops, prawn and mussels followed by a better great main course. The main course a mixture of tiger prawn, code fish, sardines with very nice vegetables. All in a heavenly sauce. The chef also gave some freshly made harissa (not hot). The pudding was a very nice a light cake that puts definitely a big smile on your face. It was out of this world. Soft drinks and coffees were also provided. The other side is the first class service provided by the staff. Really first class. The chef very experienced and knew his stuff he came few times asking if we were happy. This really remind of the USA were I always say to my friends that the service there is head and shoulders above Europe but this place is may be the exception. If you need a place to take your family or friend for a good and good food this is the place. Don't tell everyone this is just between us 👍🏾

Nice venue, the rest was shambolic! We should have realised something was amiss by the empty tables on arrival. Food was absolutely abysmal, sardines overcooked, rubbery mussels, rubbery bread! Complained to the staff who were completely unempathetic and disinterested. Chef and ?manager seen but chose not to approach us to discuss, please don’t complain that the reason for your business demise was due to the current climate as this would be untrue, the reasons would be your current chef and front of house skills!

Food is better at home. Me and my partner where there for her birthday and the food was very bland, overpriced and cheap! I ordered a carbonara that’s was completely tasteless and the turkey bacon was just ham chopped into small pieces, save yourself £12 (very boring) I also found a hair in my food which management basically blamed on me and took no responsibility for it even tho I wasn’t asking for any compensation at all! -The garlic bread was just cheap bread and tasteless plastic cheese -the steak overcooked and cheap ,tasted like £2 pounds cost £17 -the fries that came with it where just uncooked roast potatoes. I am not a fussy person at all but this food was very bad and underwhelming do not go and don’t be fooled by these 5 star reviews.

Fantastic restaurant. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and really great customerr service. We had garlic bread and cheese and whitebait for starters which looked lovely and tasted just as good. Main course seafood marina and traditional fish and chips. Both meals we're absolutely fantastic! Compliments to the chef! Could not fit in desserts unfortunately 😞 too full!
