Divino in Brighton and Hove

I've had a drink here once or twice before, there is a nice outside terrace. It has lovely quite elegant decor, the staff where friendly and attentive. This time i had a meal with family, lovely and fair value pasta dishes, I would definitely eat there again. It is also in a good position on Church Road, not too far from George Street shops or the seafront.

Lovely ambiance and decor , cocktail waiter was excellent and he made us two divino specials .. yumyum . Music was subtle and it was a feel good factor admiring my beautiful wife enjoying a cosy night out on a Thursday

Popped in after our friends Birthday Dinner,very polite staff and the feel of the place is great, recommend a visit.

We had a Groupon birthday voucher, booked it for Monday through their booking tool, received a confirmation and come Monday checking via phone the reservation was made was told we don't sell food Mondays, no chef. Not the biggest problem, went tonight , No greeting although a very shy waiter did look at us, approached the bar and was told sit there" customer service skills definitely require improvement. Young lady then had to fire fightr the evening and really did do her best with limited resources. Dinner was Rib Eye steak, which was disappointing although I did in fairness eat it all just didn't look or taste like a Rib Eye. Clean, decorative, great out door garden . I would return but I believe they sell a much cheaper cut on a voucher meal as I have previously had a very good meal in there.

Went here with my girlfriend for a couple glasses of wine. The wine bar has a very nice setting to sit and chat. Its pretty cozy too, but I didn’t really understand why the music was so loud and the choice of music as well. The place has got great potential for a good time.

Nothing particularly bad about Famous Sichuan but if you're a vegetarian you'll be disappointed by the tofu- it's been kept frozen for too long and the effect is lifeless, odd-tasting bits of sofa filling, not the spongey succulent stuff that chinese food can be so good at. Eating in seems much better than take away for portion size and quality. I've heard Sichuan Garden next door is good so we'll be trying there next!

We popped in thinking we'd like a cocktail before meeting friends for dinner. First warning sign was asking for a straight vodka martini, and the barman saying he can't make one (really?"!) And can only make what's on the menu. Their martini was full of extra fruit and vanilla flavoring, so passed on that. We went for Cosmopolitans instead, the menu suggested that would be pretty close to what a cosmo is sposed to be. It arrived, and I'm really not sure if it had any alcohol in it, seemed to be just sugar and grapefruit juice. Having drunk copious Cosmopolitans and Vodka martinis in NYC, I know what I'm sposed to be getting, and this was very much not it. At 14£ per cocktail they are taking the proverbial.

Be careful when private booking this venue. They ask you for a ‘deposit’ which they clearly state they will refund to you in their emails however they refuse to refund the money back to you after the event claiming it’s a fee now and not a deposit! Shocking experience and very untrustworthy wouldn’t recommend!

Could not recommend Divino Wine Bar enough. They were brilliant for my boyfriends surprise 21st birthday. Beautiful venue and excellent service throughout the whole evening.

Had my partner's 30th birthday party. Found the staff to be amazing. We had an amazing time and would recommend anyone thinking of holding their event there.

Had my birthday venue here, Robert and the team we’re exceptional all night with their friendly and welcoming service. Will definitely be going here again in the future 👍🏻

One of Brighton's best venues is always welcoming, always has good cocktails, a brilliant atmosphere, and good people! the outside garden is fantastic and is open all year round. one of the best spots in Brighton , would highly recommend it!

Just look at the bathrooms. This was at 10:30pm - locks don’t work, no toilet paper or seat - vomit everywhere. This place is meant to be premium?! Imagine paying £10 for a spirit mixer with no ice and this is the state of the place.

Would not return to this venue. Hired out a space for a private event downstairs where they were charging more than the bar upstairs - £10 for a double spirit mixer in a plastic cup where the vessel was only half full with a couple of cubes of ice. TEN POUNDS. Staff were rude, wouldn’t serve cocktails as it was after 10pm and the toilets were absolutely disgusting. Again, if you’re paying that kind of price for a drink, you’d expect the venue to be taken care of and regular checks of the bathroom to be completed. Stay away if I were you, Gin Tub just over the road is far far nicer.

I've passed here many a time and not realised there is the most wonderful garden out back. Enjoyed a very pleasant hour here.

Myself and my partner were in Edinburgh for his birthday and our anniversary and had seen the amazing reviews online about this place and wow it did not disappoint! We booked in on the Friday for my partners birthday and it was so good we actually cancelled a reservation we had for another place on the Sunday for our anniversary and rebooked to go here again. The service, food, wine and atmosphere was all absolutely outstanding! We can’t recommend the place enough and we’ll be making sure we visit every time we come up to Edinburgh. Special shout out to the manager James, Zoe the host, Jessica, Marta and Davido!

It a good bar but unfortunately. Since they have table service it's unorganised mess high service charge for no reason I could understand if it was food won't be going back anytime soon I advise everyone else to do the same

The service was poor. Drinks were offered in a very bad glasses and finally one of the waitresses started to shout on us. That waitress was rude. We ordered a jug of pimm's. After 10 min, they informed us that they don't have it. The same waitress offered us an alternative with the same price. In the bill, she added the jug and other drink. We just started to discuss that with her and she was shouting and threatening us by the police.

Popped in just before the additional lockdown measures forced earlier closing times. It was nice and quiet and the service was pleasant. Opted for a glass of red each but would've definitely wanted to try cheese platter if we had more time!

7th August - went for drinks with 3 friends. I had two negroni’s which was 22£, I paid by card and was told that the payment hasn’t been taken, so I used my card again! The next day I noticed that it has been taken the first time and therefore have been charged twice! I contacted them straight away incl. screenshot. I was told someone will call me....nothing. I chased them up and I was told it takes a while to investigate...again nothing. Posted a review on their FB page and suddenly they became alive again, telling me that it will be dealt with ASAP. It doesn’t take two week to investigate! I have been charged twice as simple as that which clearly shows credited twice on their side! They called me first at 10.30pm (!!!!). I don’t need a phone call I need my money back! Definitely the last time me and my friends went there. Drinks are overpriced anyway and the bar is empty most of the time, no vibe at all!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff

My partner recently hired out the club room in Divino for her 21st birthday. From start to finish the guys at Divino were very helpful. We first dropped in to have a look at the room and they showed us round and told us prices and what was included. We had hired balloons and a light up dance floor for the night and they were very accommodating of this. They were happy to speak with the companies providing this to arrange when to come down and start setting up. The bar staff and doorman on the night were very friendly and the manager came down every now and then to check everything was going well. We had a couple of issues with the music which they sorted out very quickly. I would definitely recommend hiring out their venue for a party, it was a great night!

We went down to this wine bar a glass of wine and bite to eat. The wine was nice and the food was ok but lacked atmosphere.

We arrived for my friends birthday to be told they had problems with their gas and wouldn't be serving food! Absolutely no apology and they had the contact number. Very difficult to find a restaurant for 5 on a busy Friday night. Won't be going there again!!!

Love this place, i regret to have discovered only now. Food is excellent and cocktails so good. The interiors and outdoor space is sophisticated and staff so friendly. Highly recommended

Great place and look at the sink

I went to bar/club basement. It wasn't bad but the drinks are very very expensive. Gin and tonic £8, just a single shot of sambuca with coke £6. That's very expensive.

They make the most amazing Pims And the food is delicious. Bar staff very attentive and friendly. Clean premises and fast and professional service. A good dining experience.

On arrival there was No Welcome. We had booked a table to eat. Given one drinks menu. Ordered Cocktails to start. With in 10 mins about 8-12 eastern Europeans arrived fist pumping staff to say hello wearing tracksuits and trainers. Turned out that this nicely decorated and ambient place is run by eastern Europeans which appears to have like for the same clientele. Did not order food and left to eat somewhere else that had a better environment.

This isn't just a restaurant and cocktail bar but a nightclub / venue below in the basement. I went here especially for a gig last night with friends only to find out the venue had cancelled it. I heard from one of the other customers in the bar that Divino staff told the DJ's to go home as soon as they arrived, why would they do this after the gig was advertised for months ahead. Very disappointed. Shame the food is meant to be good, because I can't eat here, on principle I just couldn't spend my money at a place like this.

Weird atmosphere. Not relaxing.

Came here with my fiance and it was well worth it. We were lucky enough to find a groupon deal for two steaks. I had it medium rare and she had it medium. I kinda wished I had it rare as it was slightly over, but still very nice. We also got starters and the tomato and mushroom bruschetas we got were divine. We went on a Thursday so was very quiet, but still enjoyable as it wasn't noisy. I've been there for just drinks on a Friday before and it was nice to. Will visit again.

Always a great night late night

Visited Divini for my husband's bday meal. We went for a sharing seafood player which was massive and it was great! The we went for a steak and salad and no dissapoinmet here either! Decor is amazing and back garden in summer time is amazing to sit in! Planning to go back soon ! Thx Divino P.S. Cocktails were also delish !

The best restaurant in Brighton and Hove

Service was lovely and food was good, I would definitely reccomended this place as it has a nice atmosphere and is perfect for date nights or a girls night out!

Had a lovely works due night out . Food was nice and the staff were really nice .after the restuarant we went downstairs in the club for a dance and had a good time . I highly recommend it to anyone and ghanks for the god time we will be back

This is a wine bar so the menu is a bit limited, not as advertised on the website. However, the food was good and the staff attentive. Another group of noisy females were intrusive to our table but that's not Divino fault. Would go again.

We went to Fatto and Mano's next door, but wanted something other than a pizza for lunch. Being short of time we popped into this wine bar next door, having viewed its menu. Big mistake! The restaurant was deserted and we were the only customers. The food took over an hour to be served. Other than the starters which were reasonable, the mains were terrible. My wife's mussels which were supposed to be steamed in garlic and white wine, arrived in a dish of hot water. I ordered the prawn tagliatelle with chili and garlic and got three measly prawns on the side. My son's steak was about the only reasonable dish. All the while we were subjected to the sound of disco music played at a ear splittingly loud volume. All in all, there must be hundreds of restaurants in Church Road, Hove that offer far better value for money. As the 1960's song goes " She's a Must to Avoid"!

We saw the menu outside and decided we would try it for our wedding anniversary on Friday 7th Sept. We were delighted with everything - the décor, the lovely staff, the amazing food and wine. I had the smoked salmon and avocado starter which was awesome. The music was a good level and the atmosphere was very good. The staff checked on us many times to make sure all was well. I would recommend this place.

Really disappointed. I’ve eaten here a few times and enjoyed it but stopped in the other day for a drink after work. All the surrounding pubs were full and buzzing but it was empty inside. Literally we were the only 2. The entire place stunk of smoke from cigarettes- the smell doesn’t usually bother me but it was so strong and made the place feel grubby and dirty and so intense that we left before ordering as couldn’t sit through it!

My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Divino and we were a bit unsure about it, but everything was amazing. The staff was very friendly and kind. Food was delicious and the venue was fabulous. Will definitely go back.

Just popped in on the off chance .. and so pleased we did. A cocktail and seafood platter, plus a beer. Service was prompt and very friendly. The seafood platter was plentiful for Two and actually the best I've had. The welcome was warm and I will definitely be coming back to here.

Was walking past and thought this place has a nice outside seating area, especially on this particular sunny day. Good decor and the lady who served me was brilliant. My friend later joined and we decided to get a sharing platter, so went for seafood. Presentation was lovely, there was whitebait, calamari and prawns. The whitebait and calamari were cooked to perfection however the prawns were a let down as they had been deep fried and turned to rubber. The chef happened to be outside. We gave the ‘what we thought was constructive feedback’ about the prawns saying maybe pan fry them but the reaction we got was absolutely disgusting and we will not be returning. He turned red and shouted at us ‘why don’t we go in the kitchen and cook’ then proceeded to tell us to get out. I am appalled with the way we were treated. The chef was completely out of order and let the company name and staff down. Never in my life have I ever left a restaurant feeling so awful.

Beautiful place. Worthy of 4 stars for the garden out the back. Great service. 2 drinks for £10 during happy hour. So why the 2 star review? Plastic straws! In Brighton. Didnt think would have to request to have no straw. Please buy paper straws or buy metal ones and people can buy them for a pound if they want them. Sign up to one of those places where they are charitable and it's a deposit. So if the guest returns the straw the pound is returned. Anyway, Great place but please change your straws. Edit: I don't seem to be able to reply to the owner. I hope the response is visible. I was asked by the owner why only 2 stars. Well, I mentioned it. I have boosted it to 3 stars. However get rid of the plastic straws. This review is deliberately targeting the straws situation. Change that, respond, and I will upgrade it. There is no need to use them. Use paper, use steel straws with a deposit. I don't mind, but don't use plastic. Many other bars will get the same treatment from me if they have plastic straws.

It is absolutely great. I checked the review before I visited. I especially recommend Risotto for Asian! It was AWESOME. Great atmosphere. Nice staff. Good desert. Hope they can have some sorbet in the future for my BF who has Dairy allergy. It was great as I already have told several times. I want yo visit here again in the future! Lovely food! 👍👍👍👍

Chilled out high Hove wine bar. Fantastic wine selection and good food. Some sort of domestic drama going on with the owner and his GF was discreetly dealt with by charming staff. We enjoyed it...will go back. Strangely deserted, other places seemed more buzzy. Maybe tears and tantrums don't add to the atmosphere...

What a great night have been using divino for a while but never eaten there so a real treat staff are always very nice and the food was so good the sea food plater was a real treat so will definitely be eatting there again

Очень вкусные морепродукты. Чесночный соус с белым вином изумительный. Набор вин не слишком обширный, но вполне достаточный для приятного вечера. Единственный минус - дороговато.

The bar itself was good. Atmosphere was nice. Bar staff weren't the best took a while for them to acknowledge you even though you were obviously waiting and they were doing nothing but talking. The DJ in the Friday night was terrible but hey ho not it's main attraction. Food was good!

I go to divino wine bar twice a month to eat and the food is really nice and the staff its really friendly. I really enjoyed the luch today i would highly recommend it and i will be back soon
