Marinas Kitchen in Brighton and Hove

Came for lunch, the food was poor quality and we had to wait a long time as it was given to another table mistakenly first and had to be remade. Would not recommend.

I had a lovely experience here the other day. We sat outside for lunch. Very friendly service and my omelette was really good!

Nice coffee great staff…oh beautiful pizza recommend.I am a regular customer I come everyday and I note this this place is so chill and nice highly recommended. One of the best pizza I have eat in my life such a lovely place hang out with your family and friends too HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Very friendly staff, very helpful. We had a Groupon, which was sold by Groupon with the wrong info and date etc, but the restaurant accepted it, which was very nice as they didn’t have to. We had a birthday and they were happy for us to have our own cake in there, and they supplied plates for that as well!

Nice area in the middle of town with a few good things to have from the food and drink choices available, of note this is currently a cash only place, however still a good time can be spent here every now and then.

Atmosphere was strange, service left something to be desired. Food was overpriced for what you get, no cutlery for the salad, no salad dressing. They call it Farmhouse bread, you’re better off popping to the supermarket and making your own sandwich. Will taste a lot nicer.

Awful. The best thing about this ’restaurant’ is the finely dress gentleman who manages to pull you in off the street! The food is over cooked. Pizzas are doughy and the service is poor. So many alternatives to choose from - choose somewhere else!

So I used to come here often and loved it. I’m pretty sure marina is no longer there. £21.50 for 2 x scrambled eggs on toast 1 coffee and 1 tea. Really poor quality food and drinks. Looked dirty. Staff didn’t have a clue. Defo won’t be back. I’m sure marina would be gutted if she saw what her place has become

Very nice carrot cake and friendly service.

This place is awful! The staff are very rude and just sit outside getting drunk, smoking and swearing in front of customers and people walking by. This is very unprofessional as there could be young children around! The place is filthy inside, the cloths they hand out to customers are dirty and smell awful. I came here for a trial shift which they told me would be paid for, and then they are now refusing to pay me at all! I was only meant to be there for 1 hour and ended up staying for 4. There was nothing to do as no customers would come in which is no shock! They then harassed me to post a good review on trip advisor which I have no removed as it made me feel uncomfortable and I didn’t want people to think this is a nice place to eat! They don’t wash their hands after being outside smoking, and then they go to prepare food. They do not follow any hygiene guidelines whatsoever. Please do yourselves a favour and go to any other place along George street as it’s full of wonderful places unlike here! Reading all of the previous reviews just proves that this is an awful place with disgusting and awful staff!

If you are looking for a good cafe in Brighton and Hove, I would recommend that you go to Marina Kitchen. Good service at all times.

All I can do is smile A rainy day in march My birthday Chose Marinas Kitchen in George Street, Hove , the Staff charming , welcoming and funny ! Felt like we were on holiday ! The sunny, relaxed vibe soon found our mixed age group laughing 😁 Thanks fellas for so much delicious food x

I went twice to this place, very good food and service! I was welcomed very warmly by the Chef and the owner who are both very friendly. Strongly recommended!

Pot luck if your dish is in stock best to go in on weekends as more stock. But for Groupon price of £15 for 2 courses and glass of wine/ beer for 2 can't go wrong. Big portions of pasta. Pizza to. Nice starters seafood Parma ham figs etc if in stock.

Worst place I have ever been. Staff were drunk and arguing. Toile was dirty, no loo paper... napkins looked dirty. It was so awful I was expecting Gordon Ramsey to walk out and to be part of Hells kitchen.... orders were forgotten then when the waitress told chef he got angry they ended up having a domestic outside in full view through the window. One person ordered a vegetarian pizza and was given spaghetti bolognase... the can of sprit was filthy had to ask for a clean one. Do not go to this place. The woman that was waiting on the table was crying saying it wasn't her fault as the chef shouted at her. You could smell the alcohol on all the staff present. My mushroom bruschetta was so burnt...there were clumps of charcoal. Just wish I'd taken photos. It was truly 0 stars for everything if that was an option.

Came here today and it was a very bizarre experience. There seemed to be too many staff running around like headless chicken for a restaurant of around four covers. We were sat down for a good fifteen minutes before our drink order got taken. We ordered food here aswell which was nothing special but we still gobbled it down. The waiter who served us was quite abrupt and rude. The restaurant itself needs a serious makeover. There is room for improvement here with service and atmosphere.

Never seen anything like it. Table cloths had a stench of damp/vomit, owner outside on the beer whilst we’re waiting to get our bill, had to go outside and ask him to come in. No take away boxes, food bog standard, if I could give this place a 0 I would. Do not come here, owner initially shouted at us on the street to try get us in. 2 4 1 prices aren’t even worth it, my pizza was okay but I worry about the hygiene behind this place

Came for a birthday meal when we turned up the place was empty silent looked like it was closed down we asked for some music they said Wi-Fi was down. The waiter was drunk the owner was hammered walking in and out the entire time pouring himself drinks stumbling over things all our orders were messed up despite repeatedly telling them clearly what we wanted and the food that did come out was awful. The toilets had urine on the floor no toilet seat no toilet roll when we asked for some he said to use the table cloth waiter shouting at his wife in the kitchen she’s storming out crying she’s drunk to it was just an absolute shambles never experienced anything like it then when it comes to leaving they demand more money . Embarrassing

I live on George st. Every time I walk past this place, the owner is sat outside swearing and sometimes being aggressive towards us. Unpleasant man and a horrible little place not worthy of your time - avoid!

Got a few pizzas for takeaway and they tasted really good! I won't recommend the place for eat in tho

Neither the facilities nor staff appeared deserving of the highest hygiene rating. Popped in for a tea and coffee...no sweet treats on offer... The coffee had nearly run out so it resembled hot water and milk. £6 for two. The serving chaos was rather amusing but I won't be revisiting

Pretty awful experience. Understaffed and the guy who did serve us didn’t speak English well enough to understand us ( I appreciate we are ordering in his second language but I feel he should know the menu a bit better to help with this). The guy missed my order and only brought out my partners, when I eventually did get mine it was burnt and bland. How is this possible when you’re rushing an order? Then the waiter argued with us over the bill and tried to over charge us, he’s lucky we even paid!

Shambolic experience, will not return. They might have a new logo and menus, but the service here is a joke. How can you run a restaurant in the heart of Brighton & Hove and not know what vegan means? How do you mess up every order despite repeatedly writing it down, checking it with customers and being given clear guidance on what vegan means? You can't boldly claim you can do vegan food only to then have your own staff inform you that you can't. We left after 30 mins of attempts to make a simple lunch order got us 2 dishes we couldn't eat and 2 bland drinks with unclear contents. Shockingly bad communication between waiters and kitchen staff. Totally contradictory, and could have resulted in a customer having an allergic reaction. Absolutely never again.

Poor quality coffee. Staff surly. New ownership is not nearly as good as the previous, original owner. The coffee was so tasteless we decided not to eat there. We paid up and left and won't be back.

First time visiting since New owners service was poor we ordered a panini and a ciabatta staff came and said he would give us just paninis because they were bigger, I said we didn't want bigger it was just lunch he then decided bigger and came back with two French sticks I couldn't be bothered to cause a scene infornt of my child and ask for what we had ordered. when I went to pay the staff tryed to tell me that the cheap French stick was a panini, I may not be Italian but I'm certainly not blind or stupid. Over priced for what you get & left majority of it as it was not what I wanted. The staff told a customer to move this I observe as rude and not some where I will ever visit again!

Awful. Wouldn’t eat here again. Ordered panini and we got a burnt baguette with chunky tomato and feta, which sadly wasn’t even tasty. Staff arguing. very misleading as it advertised pizza and all day breakfast - This was not on the menu. We wanted cocktails which were on the menu and told ‘no’.

If there was such a thing as 0 stars I would give it that. Partner was served ciabatta with mould on it when complained they brought it back and just tried to hide it with olive oil. Plates were dirty with food on it and friend was given burnt baguette with feta cheese was meant to be a chiabatta and halloumi avocado. They were rude and expected us to pay for the food and drinks ordered a smoothie which did not look appetising. The people are rude.. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Rude Owner. Didn't even eat here. Was walking past with heavy shopping bags with my friend, so we stopped by one of the tables on the street to readjust what we were carrying. We were there 30 SECONDS. The owner started shouting at us for doing so, talking about how would we feel if he walked into our home and did as he liked? Ridiculous!

Avoid this place, Waited 45 mins for a coffe and the waiter spilled my food and scooped it up and put on the plate. Staff are arguing

So rude. Didn’t even eat here. Was just walking past with a group of friends and was shouted at by the owner who was drunk outside. We told them to stop and they continued to call out to us as we walked by. So intimidating.

Used to be a great place but unfortunately owner and staff have changed. They don't have half the things on their menu, we waited 45 minutes to be served and then had to ask for cutlery, the manager came out when we said we didn't want to eat omelette with our fingers and was rude, we decided not to have our coffee and desert there and moved to the place next door. When we went to pay they didn't accept cards, so my husband had to look for an ATM to get some cash. Such a shame, it used to be a no frills but great food and service place.

I don’t normally do reviews but so disappointed. Such a shame I took my little one here was assured they could adapt something for her to eat then was given and charged a huge meal. Such a waste. I order a jacket potato and it wasn’t properly cooked still a little hard. The table next to me gave their order multiple times and got no food gave up and left. Lisa was kind and helpful. Another member of staff was swearing in the restaurant at the team - will not go again.

I go 2 Marinas as often as I can. Not only the food is good (they do a to-die-for-pizza and the pasta dishes are ON POINT), but all the staff are so friendly! If you fancy something different to what is on the menu, they will even accommodate that. It has a feel of a home from home. I just LOVE this place!

Tried for the first time today. Lovely food, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. I'll definitely go there again. Comes highly recommended.

Very strange experience. Friend & I were looking for a hot drink, small bite to eat. Glancing at menu & we were near enough accosted by a table of people! Kinda ushered in with lots of jokes about free money. Okay, we said. Let's do this. Very friendly Italians, which was okay until it became overbearing. The lady taking our order had no idea what we were asking, took ages to finally get anywhere. The older guy kept asking if we needed anything, I asked for sugar numerous times, never came. The lady gave me 3 spoons for a breakfast! They didnt have everything for my breakfast, when I asked made jokes. Friend & I swore them or us were on acid! I paid & just wanted to leave, realised after I'd been over charged. The breakfast wasnt great & for £8 a definite no no. Wont be returning.

Food is mediocre. Place stank of cigarettes. No masks. No hand cleaning. The spaghetti bolognaise was awful and Icelands frozen £1 meal tastes better. New ownership. Slapdash and couldn’t care less. Hygiene is awful. Won’t go there again. There are better cafes on George Street to spend one’s money in.

Firstly I’d like to mention the hard work Marina and her family put into making that place what it was, warm, friendly, welcoming, good menu with food always available. Under the new owner (who is seemingly never there) things have really gone down hill - to the point where the pots of tea are filled only half way, it’s a struggle to squeeze two cups out of it. The menu is non existent. I went there earlier today and whoever the man was they left in charge was sat out the front sipping a beer and smoking a cig! Proper shambles, ash trays left on tables and customers left waiting for food. I hope things turn around for this place but until then... Mamma Mi next door will be lapping up their customers who offer a far better service.

Good menu and friendly atmosphere. A little dog called Booboo sat quietly on the sofa and was adorable. As it is dog friendly I will probably visit again with my dog.

Good welcoming cafe with Bistro type menu and plenty of tea and cake. Has a nice authentic Greek flavour of a no frills taverna.

Marina's is very welcoming and friendly. Bistro style menu served with Grecian hospitality and verve. Dog friendly and portions are generous to warrant the use of a doggie bag. Lovely home made cakes too.

Lovely cafe with a good mixture of English and Greek dishes or just a coffee or tea or Frappé. The cakes are amazing also (you can tell I like this place!)

Sat outside on a sunny day, you could almost imagine you're somewhere in Greece. (I have never been to Greece.)

Amazing food, family run business and friendly environment! Very good location in the heart of Hove, only 5 minutes from the train station.
