Booked a cream tea here for last Wednesday to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful. Very large scones with pots of cream and jam, two pots of tea and a slice of gateau each and the price was very reasonable. The staff were very helpful and the manager was brilliant. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Hastings.

Wonderful restaurant/cafe. Service is always friendly and efficient. Cakes and drinks are excellent and prices reasonable. A refreshing change to experience a relaxed non fast food ambience on the first floor. The owner often pops in and sometimes treats customers with little chocolates. It’s a hidden gem which I can wholeheartedly recommend. Don’t forget to browse the variety of interesting items in the shop on the ground floor.

I rung the number listed on tripadvisor to ask about the gluten-free cakes they have available. The person who answered the phone told me they did have gf cakes but when I asked what kinds she said “I’ve no idea as I work in the shop.” The tone was unhelpful and made me feel unwelcome.

I went there to meet a friend for coffee, he'd been there before and recommended it. I have to say that I was immensely impressed by the staff, the quality of the food on offer, the taste of the coffee, and the herbal tea later that came in a pot. The cafe has a great, cosy atmosphere, nothing pretentious or snobby about it, just a very clean, neat, well decorated and well run venue. A superb place to meet for coffee, cakes and a chat!

There's a massive and wide choice of coffee shops, cafes, etc in Hastings, though whenever we visit our absolute favourite for morning coffee, light lunch or afternoon tea, is Waterfall cafe. Wide variety of great cakes, scones, etc along with tasty lunches, served by friendly and efficient staff. Despite being hidden away above Waterfall gift shop, and surrounded by competition, it's always busy (and covid-secure), often with locals - a sure testament.

I have visited a few times, over the years, with children, adults, just as a couple, all sorts. Today, though, was the first time I visited with a Vegan. I love the place. Usually. The choice was great. There were a few things on the menu, both savoury & sweet. Adding 50p for a small jug of soya milk for a coffee does seem rather steep. However, what disappointed me was the fact that this place has a real bohemian feel to it, & a bit off the main stream, so it's diversity should be old hat, by now, yet when my partner received his vegan appropriate soup/stew, & the bread he had requested to go with it, there was a butter serving on the side. In this day & age, when someone has made enquiry about whether something is vegan, or whether it is available to vegans, etc, it has astounded me that no thought was put in to such a simple thing as spread. With so many companies using plant based product, a place like Waterfall would have seemed, to me, to be exactly the type of establishment that would use them, but adding a butter serving on to a possible vegan's plate (we had neither confirmed or mentioned whether he was vegan, merely enquired about vegan options) was thoughtless. I still love the place, so cannot fault the food, but I do feel that in today's society, a little more care or consideration should be applied.

Hi I visited your shop today as my daughter wanted to go in because of the fantastic Xmas window displays when entering the shop I could feel a presence watching me (the shop keeper) she then choose to stand in my way and roll her eyes and look at my daughter who was admiring the orniments I asked if she wanted to get past and she just stood there intimidating my daughter which made me feel really anxious! It was clear she didn’t want us in there and that families were not welcome even tho all the items seemed to be festive for children and families and positioned at child height. Instead of buying the mouse figure and other items I had decided to get for my poorly mother in law I choose to leave as it was clear we wasn’t welcome! In the rush my daughter accidentally knocked over an oriment which I appologised for and which I paid for and choose not to keep as I had been treated so badly! You will ruin your business by being this rude and excluding families and I will be no rush to be back and will tell all my friends/family not to go in there. The women should be sacked! Waterfalls is deservedly popular, and on previous visits we've found orders a bit slow to come, but this time we were delighted with how quick it was. (You order at the counter, and they bring the food to you.) Two of us had excellent and very large slices of quiche with salad, and the others had lentil croquettes and chickpea croquettes, again with salad - again, quite copious servings. The salad was lightly dressed and came with a bottle of ready-made vinaigrette if that wasn't enough. Fruit juices (apple, apple/elderflower) were local. Waterfalls doesn't really do desserts, but there's an impressive range of cakes. We actually had a lot of time to kill, so we sat and chatted and nobody minded or wanted us to hurry up. Bill came to about a tenner a head, including fruit juice (and 2 coffees)

However, in the shop downstairs the woman in charge was watching everyone as if they were potential shop lifters! She was rude to shoppers, stalking them so closely that many people left because she was THAT CLOSE to them. Shopping or browsing downstairs is an awful experience. Memo to the owner; Get new staff who do not intimidate customers or stalk their every move. The displays are scary looking, I myself had to be careful of my every move in case I knocked something off the edge of the displays. But honestly, please have a word with your rude staff, she's very off putting and if it weren't for her I would SHOP IN YOUR STORE WEEKLY. I present I shop there once a year due to that woman! The coffee shop was recommended to me by a friend as I have diary and wheat intolerance and she thought they would be able to accommodate me! I had popped to Hastings to do some shopping and called in here at 130pm. It was absolutely packed to the rafters and I didn't think I'd get a seat but in speaking to the waitress she kindly asked two ladies, who had already eaten, if I could sit at their table. It was no problem at all. The waitresses were also very helpful advising me what I could eat (rather than what I couldn't) and I had the most delicious Mezze with rice cakes instead of Pitta bread (pic attached), Bombay potatoes, mushrooms in tomato sauce and Dahl. I was so full afterwards as I ate every mouthful as it was so tasty. Lots of other choice too from quiche to panini's to sandwiches. There is also a huge selection of cakes which looked delicious although sadly I can't eat any of them. One request I would have for the future is to provide one choice of dairy AND gluten free cake for those of us that can't eat either! I have already recommended you to friends and I will be returning for more lovely food.

I have been to Waterfalls many times, and I've never had an unpleasant experience until now. I visited the store with my two close friends, and spent around ten minutes looking around. All three of us respected the shop etiquette-we were very quiet and were careful when browsing. Despite this, the shop clerk made our visit rather uncomfortable. She stood around two feet behind us the entire time, holding her walkie-talkie up to her mouth as if ready to call for security. Not only that, but she also aggressively (and completely unnecessarily) cleaned up after us whilst we were still there. We browsed the essential oils and she sighed very irritably and "tidied" them up, whilst we were still right next to them. We would have stayed longer, but we were clearly not wanted. I've never felt so uncomfortable in shop before!

A comfortable relaxed stop for coffee and home made cake. Our favourite is apricot slice! It is a great place for having coffee or lunch with friends - the gift shop downstairs is good too. My only criticism is that it can be a bit cold - especially if they have recently opened.

I often visit here for lunch and it's always busy, the windows are opened in the summer which give a foreign/European feel. Beautiful homemade food and lovely staff.

I have been here many times for lunch with a lot of different friends. The food is excellent, serving mainly vegetarian dishes freshly made. It has a different menu to most other places. The staff are always friendly and the service is usually quick but not rushed. It is best if you get there (if having lunch) at 12 o'clock as it gets very busy and there is minimal seating. The cakes, and all the food are homemade on site in the kitchen upstairs which is off limits to customers and very tasty. I will certainly keep going there as it is just off the town center.

What a gem of a cafe - as others have said it is upstairs in a very nice gift shop near the library. I only went in for morning coffee and a snack; there was an array of delicious looking goodies from cheese scones, homemade shortbread & coconut slice to big, buttercreamy cakes. The coffee was very nice, the cheese scone absolutely perfect and the service professional and friendly. This is definitely not a "trendy" venue, more old fashioned charm. It reminded me a bit of the cafe in Hanningtons, Brighton (I'm showing my age here)

We have had morning coffee here many times and lunch on a few occasions. They have an excellent selection of snacks and light lunches served by very friendly staff. It is worth searching out as it is a little tricky to find as it is over a gift shop.

Went here for the first time for lunch last week as read on happycow that they cater for vegans. I wasn't disappointed. The staff were very happy to check what was vegan with the chef for me and I had a few options. The coffee was nice and the food was good. I would definitely recommend this cafe to everyone.

Lovely coffee and delicious cakes in a pleasant setting, hidden gem off the beaten track and the coffee is so much better than the two chain coffee stores in town.

Excellent relaxed and informal atmosphere upstairs in grand (French?) style with high ceiling and deep windows. The service and food are equally pleasing and there is a varied menu to tempt and satisfy - even old meat lovers like me. Whether it is morning coffee, a leisurely lunch or afternoon tea with naughty cake you are after, you won't be disappointed.

The coffee is always good, the chickpea fritters are lovely. Staff are friendly, a lady was obviously unwell in there the other day, they were attentive, kind and caring, lovely to witness. They asked if she needed assistance, phoned the ambulance, gave them their coffees on the house.

Been going to Waterfalls for a while now. It's probably my preferred place in Hastings for tea and cake. Good portions of delicious cake. Tea at £1.70 for a pot which poured 4 cups is a bargain. Their lunches are delicious also. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband is on a low fat diet so this places restrictions on what he can eat. The staff were very helpful and he had a lovely tuna salad. My brie and apple panini with side salad was delicious. Highly recommended.

I've been going to this restaurant for years. My daughter worked there on Sundays over a Christmas season once, and she loved it. The people are brilliant, really friendly, but still manage to remain polite and not overly familiar (important, and a tricky balance to get right), and the food is just amazing. Healthy food in Hastings is hard to come by, trust me, but this place is brilliant. My favourite dish is the cashew and lentil croquettes, which come with sour cream and salad - lots of salad! The salad dressing is yummy, and if you're not a health nut, you can just stuff yourself with the lovely cakes. There is every variety of tea iimaginable as well, plus healthy fruit juices (as in not loaded up with sugar). I'd highly recommend this place, but please leave a table for me on Saturdays!

We have been member of the club for 6 years . We often go for breakfast but Brenda Andy have retired . The new people are absolute useless first you wait half hour for two breakfasts , to then be told you had not paid for two I went up and said to the lady to which she couldn’t admit it was her mistake , and basically told me and my husband to not come back . I love the club but won’t ever be using them for breakfast ever again shocking young people with chip on shoulders
