Water Lily in Barrow-in-Furness

Pointless trying to phone an order as they never answer the phone, rang into the hundreds of times and bo answer on any of them so a complete waste of time.

Our first choice takeaway which never disappoints - staff are great and taste is too! Very happy to recommend.

I have been drinking lol there curry since i was a boy and they were at there first location pre Portland Walk. You will find here a family run business great food amazing flavours. I recomend the chicken curry with fried rice. My back up would be Young Nine just down the road when there closed. Never had any issues with funny tummy like a lot of local fast food reastaraunt. If you buy at christmas you will get your lucky calender and it works. Thank you Mrs Darling ha for sharing your culinary culture and at such value.

I would say that this takeaway is average+ on the verge of good. The first plus is the portions are a bit larger than other takeaways so you don't need to order as much! I had salt and pepper ribs which were very good, excellent seasoning, nice batter, good mix of onion chilli and garlic, and didn't go soggy which most do! I had fried egg noodles which were a bit rubbery and under seasoned and I had crispy beef in ok sauce which wasn't that great. The beef was ok, cooked right but the sauce was more sweet and sour with an unidentified savoury finish rather than the type of ok sauces I usually encounter. Not bad, but not great. I would go back, but not go out of my way to get there.

I love the water Lilly and it’s one of my favourite Chinese’s in Barrow and would recommend it to anyone but what really gets me goat is when you just close the shop randomly and when you ring up there isn’t a message informing us ... your loyal customers ... that you are shut ... and this would prevent us from redialling you 188 times in the night when you aren’t even open ..... please get a message put in place

A frequent once a month treat always takes us to the Waterlily. The food is always piping hot, always on time and very well priced for the large portions you recieve, also very flaversome. Very friendly lady on the phone and in the shop too. Will be back again!!

Tried here on a Tuesday night, as most of the other takeaways in Barrow are closed. I was served very quickly and politely. Sweet and sour chicken, king prawn curry, fried rice , chips and noodles. It was still piping hot when I got home. Oh my, the portions are huge. Two meals would easily serve four. Absolutely delicious.

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered. Arrived dead on time and the food was amazing and lots of it which was a bonus as it did dinner the next day too. Ordered salt n pepper chicken, salt n pepper chips, Chicken curry and fried rice. All really good and will definitely order again. Very reasonable priced too

Well this was my choice of chinese restaurant in Barrow but alas yet another that sells warmed up chips from the night before. Shame as the freshly cooked food was great. Oh well i will continue my search.

A good Chinese and has become my Chinese of choice in Barrow, good large portions always. Free prawn crackers with orders over £20 a nice touch.

We have used the Water Lily for a long time. The food is reasonably priced,portions are large and we have never had a bad meal here.

My boyfriend decided to pick a Chinese up on the way home from a few after work drinks. Assuming he was going to our usual Chinese I ordered some salt & pepper ribs, when he got home and I opened the tub they looked like they'd been covered in breadcrumbs then deep fried? They were greasy, chewy and tasted of nothing but the onion in the box with them. Bit grim really. That said I ended up sharing his curry which was tasty.

I absolutely recommend the curry from here well anything but that's my personal fave !!! Lovely food I've never had as nice anywhere else !!! Been going since they opened and will always go to them.

I always go to the best Chinese takeaway in Barrow which is the Water Lily, the service is good and is always helpful, the food is of the highest quality and I personally go for the curried dishes which are excellent and I am assured the other dishes will be of the same standard. Definitely worth a visit.

I have been coming to this takeaway for over 20 years and it's fantastic.The portions are big and taste delicious.The chicken curry and salt and pepper chicken is the best i've tasted anywhere.I also recommend salt and pepper chips,bbq ribs and chilli and garlic dishes-try them you won't be disappointed.

Chinese buffet with varying prices and selection depending on the day and time of day. Excellent value at Happy Hour (early dinner, perhaps before going to the cinema or a club)

Had a superb take away from here last week brilliant service ...great salt and pepper chicken wings fantastic special chow mien and curry sauce to die for .....completely recommend the water lily

Hands down the best Chinese in barrow can't beat the salt and pepper chicken and chips! I've never tasted better yet! It's great tasty and good value. Wish it was open later though at weekends!

Found this Chinese to be a bit sloppy at busy times. Sauces a bit watery and not a lot of flavour. Other times absolutely delicious.... Delivery charges are extortionate

After 15 years of trying various takeaways on the odd occasion, the one I have settled on is the Waterlilly. I have tried a fair few different things over the years from here and the standard is always brilliant. Very hard to get through on the phone so I'm guessing it's because they are so busy.The garlic king prawns in very light batter with green peppers and onions, Szechuan dishes, curry, sweet and sour, oyster sauce dishes etc are all always spot on... Hot, fresh, tasty and reliable. The soups are lovely, I often get a tub of mushrooms or bean sprouts which are lightly seasoned with some soy and a good accompaniment to any meal. Salt and pepper anything from here is really spicy and amazingly flavoursome. The boiled rice is always steaming hot and fresh and the chips are always fresh and crisp as they should be. Always a good treat.

this has to be the best Chinese in barrow in furness i have absolutely no fault with it it is amazingly tasty would highly recommend a prawn dish. or a chicken dish i love the noodles to bits they are the most amazing things ever :)

The waterlily is my new favourite chinese takeaway! I have only recently started liking curry but now having the taste for it means I want it every sunday. The waterlily has the best curry sauce in barrow without a doubt! They are also very quick at delivering!

Salt and pepper chicken pieces or king prawn. The main meals are excellent but for some reason the choices seems limited.
