Wasabi in Hackney

This used to be a great company with a variety of sushi to choose but now it's just set salmon sushi meals. They're okay for the price but the service at King's Cross is awful. Not LGBTQ+ friendly.

Burnt but cold, tasteless, dry gyoza. Sushi bland and overpriced. They charge for soy sauce. Nowhere to sit. Go to Itsu .

Chilli chicken - looked great. Good sauce, nice rice. Chicken was just gristle. Inedible and I threw it away. Very disappointing.

I came to wasabi whilst waiting for my train at kings cross. I was in a rush but went for a chicken teriyaki bento warm box as it is something I am familiar with. Upon sitting down, I started to eat what I can only describe as the weirdest meal of my life; rice, chicken… beef? And a stew? This was not teriyaki. I felt so embarrassed I thought I must have picked up the wrong thing. It tasted awful, it was 100% a mix of meat, followed by a beef like paste and also square orange veg - assumably carrot or swede? It tasted like a beef stew. I ate most of it (I won’t deny that) fuming at myself that I had spent near to £7 on an awful meal. But like many people, assumed it was my fault. After the meal, I double checked their website and saw there were no beef or mixed meat options. I emailed their contact us address just to be sure, and they told me they would pass on the feedback but there was no such option available. I feel utterly disgusted at what I was served and I am deeply concerned at what I ate because it makes me think it was an employees meal? Something they had left over? But more to the point, when I emailed customer service they were confused but not concerned. Please think twice before ordering here!

My friend’s son, Raez wanted to have dinner at this Japanese restaurant. So, we headed over to King’s Cross Station from St Pancras International Train Station. There were so many people but we managed to get a table, albeit a messy & dirty one. We had to clean it ourselves as there were no servers or staff to assist. While I waited at the table, Raez & his mother went off to get dinner. I wasn’t really hungry so didn’t get anything for myself. However, my generous friend insisted that I try their selection of sushi rolls & maki. The salmon tasted really delicious. I came very close to buying the same item but decided not to in the end as it was already late to begin with. I would probably have the same item for lunch the next time I’m there at the station. They seem to have many varieties such as sushi, hot food in the form of bento boxes, salads & desserts. I found myself yearning to try out other items on the menu.

Plastic disposable cutlery! Plastic disposable lid! Plastic disposable box, WITHIN the takeaway box! This is an absolute disgrace and won't be using you again until you change your ways.

Can't decide what was worse, the rubbery noodles, dry chicken or bland sauce. Would not recommend at all.

I purchased some sushi and gyozas from here and they were probably the worst I’ve had. The rice was rubbery and dry and the gyozas - disgusting. As was the soy dip that came with them. Sad to say that most of it went in the bin and I bought dinner on the train!

This was an amazing find. Gutted we don’t have one of these by our house. The food was amazing and the price was extremely reasonable, especially for London! No wonder it was very busy! Delish!

Wow! I am shocked that the TripAdvisor reviews are this high. I love sushi and have eaten it all over the world, including time spent living in Japan. This was some of the worst sushi I've ever had. If you don't mind pre-made, cooler sushi, you might like this. If you are accustomed to eating at good sushi restaurants, you will be sorely disappointed with the quality.

Sushi and a yuzu aloe drink to go. Prompt service, tasty food, and plenty of seats on the mezzanine floor if you want to eat in the station.

Still awaiting my refund for a meal I never got given. Head Office just as unhelpful as the staff in the branch. Paid for my meal with chip and pin. Machine stated 'authorised-remove card', only for the manager to tell me that it hadn't gone through and told me to pay again, After much arguing that it had, and was told that I couldn't get a receipt to show that it was void, I had to pay again for the same thing to happen. Wasn't given my meal as I was told I hadn't paid for it. Only managed to get the manager to write his name on a Wasabi business card, as the only proof of purchase. Manager's only solution was for me to go back to the branch if a payment has gone through to get a refund. Out of pocket by £11.90 for no meal. Been chasing my refund at Head Office for a week and still no luck.

Had a salmon sushi box fantastic. Can’t wait to try again soon!! Good free little snacks also and the kids loved the straws!

My son and I had been to a gig in Kentish Town and had got the train down from Yorkshire. We wanted to grab a bite to eat, so having been to Wasabi at King’s Cross on a previous trip to London, we decided that’s where we would go this time too. The food was exactly as we expected; delicious! And the service that we received ( I think that the gentleman that served us was called Rahi) was exceptional; very polite and friendly. I can thoroughly recommend this branch of Wasabi. You will not be disappointed at all. Thank you from us to Rahi and the team; keep up the great work. 👍🏻

Really delicious - and quite a few hot choices to help yourself to from their hot takeaway counter. Had never tried it before but was with a friend who regularly had one of the tofu meals. I had a chickend noodle dish and really enjoyed it

It is pretty much like all other Wasabi as they all look the same, it is up the escalator and first on your right at Kings Cross. I had my normal Chicken Katsu salad and also this time Spicy Mini Chirashi which is a rice dish which was fantastic. Great fast service and lots to choose from.

Been here a few times and came again last night 😁.. had a chilli pork dish with noodles.... hmmmm 😋 was delicious! Came quite late so not much left but so glad I choose this! Had a few sushi with it! Hubby had the chicken curry and said always delicious 😋.. Staff very friendly! Highly recommend 👌🏻

Have meanwhile been to many of their locations, last time to that once 3x in 3 days. Nothing special for meat eater but for a vegan its a great deal to get vegan sushi and vegan soups. The one here on Kings cross has some seating and is located in the food court. If you find a table, its pleasant sitting.

Visited with my daughter on a Friday lunch time. It was not too busy.

Very ordinary sushi dishes and most are cold. No trash bins and the toilets at the station are not free.

Fui allí para el almuerzo. Es razonable. Puede conseguir una lista - combinado con diferentes tipos de sushi y maki, o simplemente disfrutar de una mezcla de 2-pieza (elegí el último). Porque lo hace más barato, no llevar y fuimos al salón de primera clase para comer.

Me negaron mi solicitud cuando fui a Wasabi Kings X a comprar dos contenedores vacíos para un proyecto de universidad. Aunque me pareció peculiar entiendo que en última instancia, política de la empresa es prioritaria, una explicación amable hubiera bastado. Respuesta inesperada del director desdeñoso fue un choque. Caminaba lejos de mí tres veces aleja diciendo que él tenía "no tiempo" (yo ya había estado en el restaurante por menos de un minuto y era a las 10am). Creo que la falta de amicability un miembro del personal de nivel gerencial es inaceptable. Antes de hoy había sido un cliente habitual como mi universidad está a cinco minutos a pie, a pesar de la consecuente comida de alta calidad, mis amigos y yo no regresaremos. Debo recalcar que esta es la primera crítica negativa que he escrito. Como un empleado actual hospitalidad soy increíblemente fácil ir al cliente, pero el abrupto grosería era indiscutiblemente injustificable.

Me parece KX Wasabi inconsistente. He tenido un par de sitios buenos, pero desafortunadamente desde allí ha sido más a menudo que pierdas.

I was really impressed writhing the friendliness off the staff and the food range was great. Really tasty too.

Es una buena opción de cena ligera y rica para llevar de camino al hotel después de todo el día pateando la ciudad, un día cenamos sushi, con la bandeja de la foto fué suficiente para dos, si no sois de cenas fuertes está muy bien.

Very good chicken Katsu curry with rice. Chicken was on top so it's not soggy in the curry, the rice and curry were separated in the middle by of the container. It's in a round takeaway container so it was easy to take on the train and eat there. The portion is good for £5-6 since it filled me up.

Wanting a quick and easy take-away option on my way back in the train I decided to try out a chicken noodle dish from Washabi.Nice and tasty, chicken was a little fatty, but overall really good.

Really tasty food, all still hot! Service was fast and not extortionate pricing, like most of London. Only downside is as it's very busy I couldn't get a table and therefore had to stand (although it's a huge station at peak time so what else could I have expected!).

A good Wasabi chain, I have been here regularly. Staff are friendly and service is quick.One hint is to always say "take away" otherwise you will be charged extra for sitting in the small enclosed area!

I have travelled through Kings Cross plenty of times over the years, but haven't eaten at Wasabi before today.A small seating area, but mainly takeaway, very busy on a lunchtime bust served quickly, the spicy chicken dish was hot and very tasty, better then I expected, also plenty of food and taking into account I am at Kings Cross station.....good value.Will be calling here again.

I arrived on Tuesday 07/03/17 from St Pancras on my way to Leeds, and as usual I had to thread my way through the stench of the smokers in the very clearly-marked no-smoking zone. One young woman walked towards me, leant on the biggest of no0smoking signs and proceeded to light up. I pointed out the sign, she simply sneered, made a rude gesture and carried on smoking.I quite like Wasabl's food, so carried on up the escalator to the mezzanine after finding out when my train went, and realised she was coming up behind me. When I entered the Wasabi, she walked past me and entered the staff area, where she is clearly employed.As I then explained to the man at the till, I then decided not to eat there. If the staff's attitude to public hygiene is so poor, I shudder at the thought of the state of their kitchen. Customer and revenue lost permanently, Wasabi.

There are plenty of Sushi places around London but Wasabi also does Bento, a great move from the standard Sushi take away. And unlike a lot of sushi places you do have a choice of what you want in your box pick and mix style. They have some hot dishes and I am a big fan of their hot curry pots. For a pot of food you do get very generous portions and the prices are really good with a variety of options.Definitely worth trying as a healthy but fulfilling option.

Bought a meal here once before i took a train. It was a big portion so I was able to divide it into two meals. A few days ago when I was at King's Cross again, I really wanted to go back but didn't manage in the end.

Chicken Katsu curry before getting on the train - what more could you want! Hot curry, crispy chicken!

I missed some hot soup in cold weather in London, noodle soup is really good!! Pho(rice noodle), vegi and dumplings are good combination!

I had the sweet chicken chili bento with noodles which was really good. Nice chili kick and generous portion (couldn't finish it all). Good value and good choice.

Local de venta de sushi en cajas y bandejas ya preparadas. Servicio amable y muy rápido. En el exterior del hay varias mesas para comer comida de los diferentes restaurantes que hay alrededor. Es una buena opción por si cada uno quiere comer un tipo de comida. Hay italianos, mexicanos, sushi... etc.

Arrived at kings cross earlier than expected, wandered passed several food places in the station and thought I would give this one a go....first ever visit, I was super impressed at the shelf display which had the most beautiful sections of sushi and meals - it was great, super fresh and tasty and very good value !!! Would recommend to anyone who loves sushi !!! It's a must try

I bought a curry and rice topped with breaded chicken for my train journey, and really enjoyed it, think it was about £7. I selected it from a hot cabinet, so no waiting around. It was a huge portion, and definetly hot enough. Soy sauce, wasabi and cutlery provided. Better than having a sandwich, people around us on the train had food envy!

I really like wasabi and have visited this branch before, however on this visit there was very little sushi on the shelves. It was just before midday on a Saturday so it was surprising that there wasn't much on offer. It was being unpacked, slowly by 2 members of staff that weren't hurrying themselves. When I asked they said it was would at least half an hour before it would all be out.managed to get some lunch, but it wasn't really what I wanted.

Wasabi is always my standard 'go to' Japanese in KingsX. Always a pleasant experience, I go for the Bento box style meals which range from £5-9. The pot food is hot and always tasty as well. Makes a change to the processed foods within the normal fast food chains.

had bought take-aways from this chain store in many different locations. its very convenient and i love Japanese food. If you like heavy tastes then you would love this chainstore. however, the msg-heavy curry bento really made me sick, the excessivly sweet bubble tea stopped me taking a second sip, not to mention the very salty miso soup.... although the store has said nothing about healthy food, but the food now is crap.

I like to grab a bucket and eat it on the train much to the unhapiness of the lady sat opposite eating her dehydrated veggie crisps....oooppps

If you're looking for a quick and tasty meal, and you've had enough of cold sandwiches, you can't go wrong with a sushi bento from Wasabi (unless of course, you hate raw salmon). For about 5-6 quid, you'll get a box with 4 salmon sushi and about 6 pieces of japanese salmon roll. The set even comes with soy sause, ginger and wasabi and a little plastic bowl to mix them up. A quick fix before you continue with the delights of London.

I like Wasabi very much and would normally give them a four star. But, the concept doesn't work as well in a railway station, as far as I'm concerned. The food is every bit as good as you expect; I especially like the fat noodles). Wasabi's noodles (though not made in store) are eggier, thicker and curlier, more associated with Tokyo-style shoyu ramen. The benefit of this is that the noodles pick up more flavour with every slurp. So, if you're a noodle lover try the noodle soup as a quick dish as you pass through the station. That is above average.

Needed to grab a quick lunch before my train departed so I rushed into Wasabi which was conveniently located near the platform. Large coolers along one wall of the restaurant contained prepackaged foods. There were individual pieces of sushi/sashimi or combo trays. I opted for a variety of sushi rolls as well as a salad box containing seaweed salads, shredded carrots and edamame. Everything was very fresh and good. The price was very reasonable and it was a very satisfying lunch. There are also hot meal choices which I did not try. They did not look as appetizing as the sushi. I believe there is seating on the upper level but I did not have time to take a look.

It cant be all bad from the number of Japanese visitors eating here throughout the day- the food is pretty good and very good value - large sushi packs for less than seven quid and large pots of curries and noodles for around a fiver

We ate lunch here on a weekday. It is not easy to grab one of the few tables. The food is nice and authentic, the counter service friendly and fast. It is on a higher level than the main concourse. You can take a lift or escalator up to it. There are also a few other cuisine eateries up there too. Toilet facilities need to pay.

We actually visited this restaurant twice in a visit to London...once when we arrived to grab a sushi box each for lunch on the move: tasty great fish and veggie choices! And when we were returning home for a hot lunch, we had the chicken & noodles and the tofu curry & rice. Very tasty, and large portions for the price! Will certainly go again next time we are on our way though kings cross!

Couldn't find the Yo Sushi so tried this place instead as never been before. Needed to soak up some cider after going to watch rugby at Twickenham and noodles work every time! Big portion for what you pay, unusual for London! I had teriyaki chicken and noodles, was good, bit bland without soy sauce though. My fiancé demolished whatever she had, so must have been ok!

Had Chicken katsu yakisoba bento. Thew broth was OK but the chicken was tough and flavourless. If I did not know better I am sure the chicken was an OAP before it gave its life for this luke warn imitation of what bento should be. Not sure if this is the usual situation for this chain but I will not be trying again.
