So far only have 5 out of 7 orders correct on different days at different times, not once received an apology. One lady mimicked me when I asked for my order to be right as it hadn't the previous times. Get hurried along when it's your turn, heaven forbid should you waiver or pause or have issues with your card, no sympathy whatsoever (same lady who was taking the micky). Go to Greens restaurant instead, much nicer there.

The prices are too high and the hot food is terrible, I had a pasty ,it was burnt and had very little filling, the potato wedges were heated in the microwave, were dry and tasted like they had been hanging around for a while, the meat feast pizza slice was dry and overcooked and you feel like you are in a cattle market when being served.

This large West Country bakery chain is being restructured and five branches in Plymouth are being closed permanently this week including this shop cafe in the city centre. Warrens have disappointed for a long time and there is now just so much fierce competition. Other bakery cafes just a few doors along have also closed within the last year.

Visit the hospital for work weekly and usually have a cup of tea, very busy shop with a great array of items but the area that lets the shop down sadly are the staff. A lot of staff there looking as though they are busy but actually making more work than reducing workload and making the experience pleasurable. Staff shouting over you and not even giving you the time of day. Simple things to fix.

Warrens at Derriford Hospital, yes you are busy but please remember that visiting a hospital is stressful enough, buying a coffee and snack shouldn't be ! I regularly have to visit with my son, I am pressured into making my choice by someone shouting at me from the till, when I did get there someone reached across me with 2 cups of coffee to give to the customer behind me, not acceptable, on paying I was not given the chance to pick up our food and put my change away before she was shouting for the next person, meanwhile a member of staff is just stood there. My pasty was burnt on the bottom and more pastry than filling and you are so expensive.

The smell of the place is enough to put you off then you try a pasty which finishes you off! On a good note I love the staffs attitude very 1880’s and authentic misery, sadness and slow attitude everything you need to have that authentic 1880s experience. Now called Friary Mill. We popped in for a break from Christmas shopping and a quick bite to eat and we were pleasantly surprised. The place was scrupulously clean and despite being busy, service was very quick. Food was really, really good. Fresh from the oven and piping hot. We will most definitely be popping in again for lunch next time we are in town. Lovely staff, friendly and literally cannot do enough for you, A great little place to chill out, warm up and refuel.

I was visiting relations in Plymouth and they insisted I try a shop-bought Cornish Pasty. I dutifully ate it and politely complimented them, but in reality found it ordinary. The following day I was in Plymouth town and saw Warren's Bakery. Its blurb says, "You are eating a piece of history.." and claims to be the oldest Cornish Pastry maker in the world, dating back to 1860. For all that, I again was unimpressed with my pasty. It comprised 80 percent stodgy pastry and an indeterminate filling of meat and potatoes. Altogether I found it dry and unappetizing, despite my best efforts to tart it up with ground pepper and salt, so in future I will leave them to Cornish Pasty afficionardoes. However, the Coffee Americano, black and unsweetened, was great and revived my spirits. The pasty was 3.95 pounds and the coffee was 2.10 pounds.

I bought two medium Steak pasties from Crownhill at lunch time today. I was on my way home from work and a nice quick pasty would of been great. When I got home and we started eating them that is when my enthusiasm hit rock bottom. The pastry was doughy and it looked insipid. I was determined to eat mine as it was not the cheapest of pasties. I am eating away and the worst thing that could of happened did, my tongue found a hair, a long hair that was caught across from one side of my mouth to the other. It went in the bid. A complete waste of money.

I cant find the Warrens on the broadway in Plymstock here but hopefully this will help. I went for a coffee there last week with a friend, we have both been in this industry and were shocked on how it was run...... the customers were wiping their own tables as not one of the staff could be bothered, I didnt see the staff once with a cloth in their hands but I did see a big roll of blue tissue on a table, the door to the washing area was open and and bins were overflowing, I think more staff are needed and a good manager, The window had old food in it but I think the flies were enjoying it, just a little TLC could help. Warrens spent money doing the place up only a few months ago I assume because Costa Coffee are arriving soon but I think they need more than a lick of paint to sort it out.......

This has to be the worst place ever for pasties! We were in a rush and needed a quick bite to eat and regretted it for the hours to come with indigestion! The children were happy with the bacon slice and cheese and onion pasty but the traditional pasties and sausage rolls were disgusting (my husband is from the West Country so knows his pasties). The girl behind the till couldn't even raise a smile - yes, it was a Saturday but come on! A smile goes a long way!! They brag how they are the oldest Cornish Pasty makers in the world - well, they certainly are not the tastiest!!

Visited here last week and ordered 2 coffees, 2 cakes and medium Cornish pasty and a bacon roll for lunch. Whilst the coffees and cakes were good the same cannot be said for the roll and coffee. My husband had the pasty which was warm and not hot. He ate most of it but suffered all afternoon and evening with stomach cramps and diahorrea. The bacon in my roll was barely cooked so I took it back. It was returned to me without any apology but this time the bacon was very dry and burnt in parts making it more or less inedible.

They always claim to be the oldest producer of Cornish pasties and to have a wide range of 'artisan' products. Today I heard on local news that they had come out top in local and national pasty polls. So I came in to get a pasty and look at the rest of the range. Old Town St seems to be the main store in Plymouth although there are other branches in the city. I have to say that given all the publicity (it is after all a bit more than a trade puff) my beef pasty was a serious let down. The pasty was plain, the crust heavy to the point that I almost asked the server if she would trim it off, and the content was (and it's a matter of personal taste) over seasoned and the potato outweighed by swede or turnip. The overall mixture was a bit dry. Fortunately, unlike Dewdneys the whole was not over peppered, there was no sign of gristle, the content did not look murky grey and the pastry did not leave grease stains on my clothing or hands. Sadly though I can give Warren's no more than 2 out of 5.

Now that we are finally getting better bread and pastries from comparatively new artisan bakeries like Jacka, Column Bakehouse and the place in the RWY there is a choice of good tasty well made bread, pasties and all the rest. Warren's has been long established, has a lot of branches and are often convenient to chain retail areas. There is nothing memorable about anything they sell. The effect of this side of Old Town St becoming almost exclusively cheap carry out or quick meal places is finally applying effective price and quality competition. Warren's will be pushed to match the other choices both at their own level and against the top quality a little further out.

Came into a branch in plymstock (Broadway Shopping centre) if I remember right. Ordered a Cheese and Onion Pasty, tea. Member of staff then pointed out for £5 I could get a pasty, cake and drink. So I opted for a Chelsea bun. The food was average, nothing special but edible. However, the decor of the shop could have done with a lick of paint, the ceilings were a horrible yellow colour and tables weren't exactly 'clean' either. Overall, would return but would have a look for some where to eat elsewhere first!

Warrens have long since lost the "quality family bakery" feel and their restaurant/cafes reflect that same lack of personal interest where quality is low and the price is as high as possible... Just because a company grows in size and has many outlets does not mean they should drop the ball and not bother to deliver a high quality product.

Frankly I doubt it, or if so, it has yet to make itself known. The small Warrens chain is good average, there are even more bland and indifferent ones. Can't see why this one has been added to a city restaurant review section. Various sandwich, baguettes etc, electric drum with the days soup and some powerful microwaves. Add in some routine pastries and sticky buns. Doesn't make a quality enticing bakery based cafe.

This is part of a chain of Warrens' across the South West. I have found the pasties and sausage rolls to be fine, and the cakes generally OK too. The prices are, however, comparatively high in my opinion - £1.10 for a medium sausage roll etc. I only eat at Warren's when they have some sort of multibuy offer on as I feel unless this is the case they offer only average value at best. This branch in particular is clean and the staff are fine.
