Exceptional! We have eaten twice at Walter’s and must say it’s our new favourite restaurant in Dulwich. The staff are excellent, and the food is divine! A great new addition to Dulwich.

Dropped in for a late bite. Very welcoming, friendly and efficient service. Had duck with truffle mash and red cabbage. Beautifully cooked and perfect portion size. Accompanied with a glass of Fleurie which was recommended and was good accompaniement with the duck. Lovely ambience. Definitely worth a visit whether alone or with company.

We visited Walters on a Saturday morning around 11.00am. On the day we visited the customers were mainly families with younger children. Due to the music being a bit loud, people were having to talk over it to be heard, which didn’t make for a relaxing atmosphere. We had the Walter’s Breakfast which was very nice, particularly the sausage. There was one ingredient which was unavailable, we have all bean there before, but this was resolved in a manner that I can only describe as above and beyond excellent customer service. The staff were very pleasant and professional. We will certainly be returning to Walter’s to try their lunch and evening menus.

Walter’s is just the sort of neighbourhood restaurant every neighbourhood should have. The only problem is it’s in West Dulwich which is not my neighbourhood but which I made a detour en route to Dulwich Picture Gallery to visit from my home in Wandsworth. The front of house was very busy and there were even a couple of diners at the bar which was serving a couple of Oktoberfest brews direct from Munich. I joined some of the other diners choosing a Hacker Schnoor to accompany my meal. There was a warm welcome from the maitre d’ who noticed my interest in the two large vibrant artworks on the walls and told me he had once organised the catering at an art gallery in my neck of the woods. I was attracted by the weekday lunch menu which has a choice of three mains followed by a dessert. I opted for a fillet of gilt head bream with a crispy fried skin sitting on a bed of red peppers, onions and an olive tapenade. A really classy dish. A scoop of cherry ice cream and a double espresso drew a pleasing light lunch to a close. I hope to find an excuse to visit West Dulwich again to sample dishes from the a la carte.

We’ve been looking for a great restaurant closer to home for a while now, and this is exactly what we were looking for. Every course was excellent, very good wine, lovely decor and great service.

We were a party of 4 looking forward cocktails, wine and a good chat over a good meal. We were sat right under the speaker blaring out classics from a bygone era. The waiter kindly lowered the volume but invariably it went up again - and again and again. Conversation, then, was intermittent, tapered out eventually, and we decided to have desert and coffee elsewhere. If loud renditions of Abba and Sister Sledge are your thing and you do not care too much about food, this is a nicely lit restaurant bar with friendly if forgetful service.

Probably much more attractive to locals who could happily justify repeated visits, maybe after a game at the Hamlet but as a one off for us it was a pleasant surprise, well selected wines, better than average well constructed menu and helpful affable staff.

Charming service and delicious food. I had hake and my husband lamb. We both had a salted caramel semi fredo, definitely worth the calories! Portions are not large which suits me but perhaps not a large appetite and it is not cheap £80 plus for two. We had two courses, one soft drink, one glass of wine and a coffee. The decaffeinated coffee could have been better it was bitter. Walter's is basically a wine bar. There is a large choice of wines and it has that sort of ambience. I would definitely return for the excellent cooking, I need to persuade my husband though!

We had a great family dinner. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We had the lamb and hake main course dishes which were extremely tasty and adapted for our younger kids on request. Triple cooked chips are the best we have had. The outdoor garden also looks great for drinks and nibbles on future visits. Great venue for family catch ups or grown up bonding time.

Walter's has just opened in the last month in the premises that used to be occupied by Cafe Rouge though the old décor has been significantly revamped. I went there with my daughter in law and we had a lovely meal but the prices were to our mind excessive for its location and the type of restaurant it aims to be. We started with a G&T each with lovely sourdough bread with yeasted butter. For our starters my daughter in law chose the peanut glazed chicken salad whilst I chose the Crab salad. The chicken salad had a generous portion of slightly warm chicken covered in a excellent peanut sauce - there were no complaints. The crab salad was also lovely but the portion was very small compared to the chicken salad. My daughter in law certainly made the right choice For our main courses my daughter in law chose the squash risotto whilst I chose the braised Ox cheek - again the food was excellent - the risotto beautifully cooked whilst the ox cheeks melted in the mouth. We both finished with the caramel parfait. The restaurant is quite small & it wasn't very busy at all so the service was excellent & the staff were very friendly efficient. There is a reasonable large wine list with prices from £20 to £100 a bottle Neither of us could fault the food - it was delightful: we just thought it was too expensive

We were booked in at short notice and were given a two hour period for our meal as the restaurant was fully booked. We were warmly greeted and seated, the menu is not extensive which due to the standard of the food and complexity is a good thing! The choice of beers, wines and spirits is extensive and the beers is superb.

I dived into a robust sourdough loaf with whipped herb noisette, before sharing a salad of courgettes and whipped (there’s a lot of it about) ricotta, sage and rocket salsa verde – so densely green you could almost feel the chlorophyll – and a fabulously satisfying grilled radicchio with broad bean purée and pickled Tropea onions (a super-sweet variety from Calabria)

We can't rate this absolute gem of a place more highly. We held our wedding reception here and Pedro and his staff were amazing. Their customer service was above and beyond. Friendly, professional, helpful and incredibly accommodating. Setting is stunning and food and wine absolutely gorgeous. All our guests raved about the venue, food, wine and all the staff. We would recommend Pedro's to anyone in a heartbeat 💓.
