Visited Walter Tull today tried to order mixed grill informed couldn’t have as they have no 4ozsteak or amazingly no sausages or eggs could have gammon minus the egg so thought instead I would have a burger but was told couldn’t as they had to return all their rolls and weren’t allowed to purchase from somewhere else the bar lady was very apologetic surely it would be helpful if they put a notice on display informing people that they did not have certain items on menu at present

Once upon a time...... I would never have set foot in the Walter Tull. Now, I really don't want to be anywhere else. The food is lovely at a very competitive price. The service has gone through the roof.... I do hope that I will be going back soon. To name names would be unfair because I would miss most of the kitchen staff.... I am aware that there have been a few negative reviews..I would ask if those people have been in recently.... Warm, gentle fun staff... Of course, you shouldn't take my word.... Better to go and find out for yourself....Tell them Eddie sent you! Lol Enjoy xx A few months down the road and I have been using this pub on a regular basis. Please note that it has sadly gone back down hill. I asked for a half pint, I was given a pint. Toilets are disgusting. I waited an hour for my meal. The quantity and quality were terrible. The gravy was a nightmare and the toilets are disgusting. So sorry .....

Decent pub food for a reasonable price, not high end but honest. Quick service and friendly staff.

It was a quick service, but food was cold and 0 taste. It is actually the worst food I've ever eaten in Northampton. I will not be returning with my family or recommending this place to eat to anyone. The food was carelessly put together, you could tell it was frozen! and honestly shocking. Even my 4 year old son wouldn't eat his chicken nuggets and that's his favourite and eats this at most places. All of us as a group were very shocked and we spent £80 for 0 satisfaction. The only satisfaction we had was the pool table- and even then there was no chalk!

i found a hair in my food after my first time experience and i’m never coming back. Also they don’t wear hats in the kitchen and it allows animals to come in and im alergic.

Was a little disappointed in the food, chips came out looking very pale and sorry for themselves, burger was honestly one of the blandest burgers I've ever had. Service was okay and friendly albeit a little slow.

Absolutely amazing pub great atmosphere and very good pool table and darts board to use. Food was brilliant and I recommend the chick n mix as I was very pleased with it. Very good for the football and the staff are brilliant and especially the young man dylan on the bar who is very entertaining

Popped in for a pre-film drink and had no beer on tap! Bartender was embarrassed and apologetic - turned around and left.

Went out for a Birthday meal, meal had a few issues which were dealt with by a manager of 2 weeks whom deserves a huge mention for her care provided. Thank you Shania

Went on a sunday afternoon. Service was super friendly and no complaints from that at all. Food unfortunately wasn't great, ordered 3 x hunters chicken all came on skillets and were all burnt along with the onions too. Not pleasant at all. Also ordered burger and chips and this came cold . Ordered deserts and they were all really nice.

This is without a doubt the worst place I’ve had the misfortune to visit in Northampton! I visited The Walter tull on Sunday 25/02/24 for a family members birthday and it all started well. The layout of the restaurant was nice and there was plenty of parking but it was all downhill from there. I ordered the chicken mix and paid around £14 if I remember correctly. To be fair I didn’t wait long but the portion size was upsetting, I received about 5 tiny chicken strips and a small pot of sauce. Along with my order was what I thought was boneless chicken wings (which is what I ordered) but what I received was 100% pork!! (Decide for yourself in the picture below) 4 members of my family agreed that it was pork (pork and chicken taste,look and smell EXTREMELY different) so I called a member of staff over who swore it was chicken and even told me they don’t serve any pork products even though my sister was eating bacon right in front of me! The trays the food was served on was extremely dirty and that also put me of my food. Unfortunately after showing my dissatisfaction the member of staff I called over simply brushed it of with no apologies or anything and walked of. What happened to keeping the customer happy? I will never eat here again and I warn you not to!

food was disappointing, mac cheese just runny sauce not much mac and they were out of pulled chicken thigh that went on top. share platter was not enough for 2 people (we don't eat that much) 1/2 corn cob 1/2 ladle beans about tablespoon coleslaw 1/2 hand full fries about 1/2 cup of mac cheese (without the pulled chicken) each as well as 1/2 very small chicken and 1 fat rib to share corn on the cob was soggy. burger was good 8 out of 10 but sides let it down (2 onion rings and a handful of fries!) App ordering is great really easy service was good friendly staff

Went for a meal for 2 , when got there most tables reserved but told we could sit at window. It was cold and windy. Most of the meal was good but peas hard as if microwaved . No one sat at any of the reserved seats in the hour and a half we were there. Would not go back to be treated like this and food very average.

Found the staff really friendly and accomadating

After frequently going, as a family, to the sixfields tavern (at least twice a week) which is only a stones throw away in the same carpark as the Walter Tull we decided to give this place a try. It’s safe to say we will now be heading here for our quick after work, after school bites on those days cooking isn’t an easy option. The staff here are fantastic and went above and beyond, Sinead & Alex, even managed to get us the sharing platter which was initially actually off the menu. The food is delicious, very reasonable and more that adequate portions. Thanks guys and see you all next week.

Unless you are eating on a match day you cannot get a seat which is a pain when you are disabled.

Went in for lunch. It’s over a year since I have been here, due to previous bad experiences. Thought would try again, but what a mistake to make. Staff were pleasant and friendly, it was fairly empty at about 1pm when we arrived. Ordered food and drinks at the bar. We had 1 half roast chicken, Sunday lunch and a chick n mix combo. Combo was ok I was told. The Sunday roast, was dire, the stuffing looked like it had been cremated and the carrots and broccoli were very hard, basically raw. I only had the chicken, which was barely hot, and some roast potatoes. The rest went back. Somebody did ask if everything was ok, and I explained the veg was raw, and they did offer to get a fresh meal, but my partner was eating their meal and not sure how long I would have to wait, so I said no thank you. No further interaction from staff. Not surprised it was very quiet. Won’t be going back again. Very disappointing. Considering Greene King have a number of pubs nearby, this is by far the worst.

Always packed on gameday, friendly staff & guests. Always have the footy or rugby on and the pool tables aren't too crowded. Drink choice is also very good. Overall great pub.

The staff are absolutely brilliant first of all...nothing is too much trouble. Ordered 2 meals...just chicken strips and chips with curry sauce for £12.49...Cooked to perfection...where else can you get that for that price? Will definitely be going back!

The food has gone drastically downhill here. We've been several times and it used to be really good value for money but the last 3 times we have been they have either had no stock of half the things we ordered or the food has been shocking. All of our chips had been refried and my daughters sausage and mash was like cardboard. We went home hungry. I hate to post a bad review and didn't the last couple of times but places need feedback to improve. We won't be coming back now.

Booked a table back in November for Boxing Day: 3 adults and 3 children. I choose to book for the main menu not the Christmas menu. Turned up today, sat at our table, choose our food. Went to the bar to order to then be told they literally had no food in! Nice of staff to come over and inform us of the food issue or better still contact us via phone prior to our booking time to advise.

Worst Christmas experience iv ever head food was terrible so was the service

Came for a Christmas Eve dinner which we do in memory of my late son who loved this pub, not realising the restaurant was closed for walk ins after 3pm due to some large parties booked. We walked in, sat down and ordered drinks before Alex approached us recognising us from our previous visits. She advised that the restaurant was closed to those who'd not booked but was able to accommodate us as long as we were happy to have a bit if a wait. To be fair we didn't feel like we had that much of a wait for our food and, as usual it was excellent. Huge thank you to Alex and the staff for being so accommodating... We will be back again.

Good "Value" meals, can be a little slow though to order drinks and food from the bar

The steaks were completely inedible. Gristly, chewy and tasteless. The scampi was crispy bits of batter with very little contents and poorly presented meals. The food took ages to come even though they were pre ordered. The staff were lovely and friendly but unfortunately this doesn't help the poor service and terrible meals. I gave some of my mix grill meat to my dog (I didn't eat any of it) and the poor dog was sick minutes later. We were compensated by making one of the meals a little cheaper but really we shouldn't have paid for the steak and mix grill and the scampi meals should have been heavily discounted. My family had travelled 60 miles to visit us and have a meal at the Walter Tull. Needless to say it won't be happening again.

Fantastic staff, lovely food. Great place to meet up with friends. Had a festive meal and all the effort that went into arranging and decorating the tables was very much appreciated.

Visited at the weekend for a birthday celebration, and the place was freezing. Everyone was wearing coats and when I mentioned it to the manager I was given a lengthy speech as to the why is was so cold, and he seemed very put out that I had mentioned it. Something to do with the thermostat and that is was set to 25. I don't think it's unacceptable to feel that you should be able to enjoy a family meal in the warm without wearing a coat, but he clearly thought it was!!

It’s a really nice place, come here a lot. Drinks can be slow but unfortunately there is one member of staff who was rude and very sarcastic which ruined our stay. Short bald with glasses. Avoid at all costs

Great food and vibes come here quite often, Order on the app can be slow on the drinks but quick on the food, came for my birthday just for a meal and unfortunately one particular member of staff was quite rude short and bold with glasses :( I’d advise to avoid :)

If you are going to use oven trays for service, maybe clean them first.

Booked a table for 5.30 because we had our 18 mth old granddaughter. Finally got our meal at 18.50. People walking off the street getting meals before us. Totally disgusting, no one apologised. WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN

We arrived around 18:00 on a Saturday evening. The staff said that ordering and service would be slow as there was a large party of 20 pre-booked. Wouldn't even take an order until nearly an hour later. Told adamantly that we couldn't get a glass of milk for the kids as they had none despite there being 2 litres right beside the barman! When the food finally arrived some was barely warm, a steak was overdone and the peas and beans on the kids meals were bone dry. All in all a reasonably unpleasant way to spend a family birthday meal. Oh and to top it all off, the gents were out of order so you had to ask for a key every time you needed to pee.

Only go for the Steak and Ale pie, absolutely delicious. Always perfectly cooked and a good size. Friendly staff and good seating. Plenty of parking. A quality Greene King property.

This used to be a regular place for our family and friends, food used to be lovely, staff were fab. The last time we went I think it has new management and staff as it was awful. We will not be going there again unfortunately 😔

Lovely place for a quick meal or a drink in a nice invironment

A rough and ready pub situated on the sixfields complex and catering to sports fans.Waited 15 minutes to be served at the bar, followed by 30 minutes for food.Food was ok, though nothing special.There are plenty of restaurants on the site, and next time I will try one of those.

Food took a while but it was busy we didn't mind the wait as was chatting away anyway, when food arrived although a long wait everything was piping hot and delicious, way worth the money. Recommend the chick n mix menu and the signature burgers super moist hot and yummy. Fantastic service too.

Had lovely meal with my wife and wonderful friends. Service was excellent as was the food and didn’t have to wait ages for our food to arrive at our table. Would definitely recommend this to family and friends and will definitely visit again in the near future

They wouldn’t serve me because there weird

We ordered 2 meals, food arrived and it was nice, I ordered chick & mix the food was OK and I was enjoying it until I moved the paper which it was served on,on the tray, the tray was totally unacceptable as it was disgusting of which then I couldn't eat anymore as I was put off, I spoke to a lady who of which I can't fault, she was lovely and refunded me of my meal, but it shouldn't of even been served on that tray. I can't believe the reply I had from the owner thanking me for my wonderful review? It was a complaint and no reply to what my dinner was served upon, and welcoming me back soon. I won't be returning

The staff here are absolutely fabulous. We prebooked as large group of 21 adults and 2 babies. We all ordered separately and we were all served at the sane time so we could all eat together. So friendly and the food was delicious

The place has gone downhill massively since previous visits. Couldn’t cook the steak to medium well and took 20+ minutes for a replacement to come out. The rest of the table had finished their food by that point.

Found a table which was great as it's Sunday lunchtime. Waited over 30 mins before asking where our food was, they said was just being plated up. We was sooo disappointed our burger sharer plater was freezing cold and fries were so crispy like they had been reheated in the fryer. Kids burger was freezing but again burnt and rock hard bun unedible! Garlic bread with mac and cheese burnt. The mac and cheese was the only food eaten everything else was awful! The kitchen staff need replacing desperately such a shame as the pub looks great.

Sunday afternoon, very disappointing experience took 20 minutes to order with 2 people in the line . Ordered food at 1:26 and had to check with staff at 2:05 as customers who had ordered before us were receiving their food. Received food 10 minutes later and was disappointed with the quality and temperature with the food. Ordered a chicken combo, of which one side was luke warm and the other side boiling hot. Members of the group returned their meals multiple times as the food didn’t arrive as advertised on the menu (missing ingredients/toppings). One member returned food three times and the last time meal wasn’t returned, no refund or reason offered. Seems understaffed and under qualified by staff who are doing the best they can.

First time in here today around 4.15. Really surprised at how good it was under the 2 for 12.99offer. Chips were as they should be, but rarely are, crispy outside and fluffy inside, not those anaemic soggy looking ones some pubs just warm up. Gammon well cooked very little fat. Egg runny but cooked as it should be. Only one tiny issue for me, not many desserts, I didn't like any, but the meal was enough. Well done this pub for not serving warmed up food, a proper hot meal was really appreciated. I will go back again, and I am a fussy nightmare with food. Chap behind the bar who took the order was friendly too!

Stopped for something to eat on the way back from a trip away. Late afternoon so pub wasn't very busy. Friendly staff and service was quick. Food was nice and will definitely go in again.

Great service & food. Prompt service of the meal, which was hot (still sizzling on plate). We were un -rushed to eat & vacate restaurant, even though there was a possible rush later due to a football match opposite due to finish. Would recommend this restaurant

I went there before start of the match. House was full fans. There's a flame grill and pub was full of grill smoke making you hungry. Response to the owner: I need to revisit you in a quieter day (no match) to fully enjoy and hopefully upgrade the rating.

First time going here. It was delicious food and very reasonably priced.

Went to this pub with my son and we enjoyed a combination of picky bits on a shared platter. The food was lovely and we also enjoyed a beer served with a smile and poured to perfection. I returned again with my wife and we chose the skillet meals. My wife had the hunters chicken skillet and I had the gammon skillet. These meals are both on the 2for £13 menu and they were wonderful. They have a large choice of beers and they are reasonably priced. I can't comment on the atmosphere as we were there in the middle of the day and it was not full but there was a steady flow of people coming in throughout the time we were there. I would definitely recommend this pub for anyone that wants a decent meal at a very reasonable price.

Great place for something to eat much quieter than the other places there. Ordered at table, drinks arrived almost straight away and not a long waif for food. Box standard pub food and not bad prices.

I ordered a steak which was meant to come with a 8oz gammon and sausage with eggs. What I got was a steak which was cremated and chips that had barely any cheese on it. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Off night due to overwhelming demand.

Although heavily understaffed brilliant service good food. The young lady serving at the bar was brilliant. Could not fault her professionalism and ability to deal with the pressure of the job in hand, even when some of the customers were being quite rude.

Extremely friendly staff and very accommodating! Lovely spacious pub with great draught beers!! Food was good, dessert were great too! Didn't have to wait too long for food either and great portion sizes! Will deffo be visiting again when nearby!

Nice pub food at good prices, close to six fields football stadium and Cineworld. Idea for families and couples alike, not trying to be anything other than what it is, with a fair range of real ales and lagers and no nonsense food at a good price.

Felt the need to actually review after another amazing little toe-in at the WT! H (Bar lady) recommended the vegan burger after we had ordered our food. We politely declined initially but in the end had that as a side to try and was not dissapointed All our food was awesome. Staff even more so (H and Paula are lovely and cannot do enough for you). Shame I dont live a little closer as I'd gladly adopt this place as my local, alas I'll just have to continue to make time to pop in whenever I am around Thabks to you all!! See you soon :)

Love it here. Always a fan of GK but the Jamaican chicken here is worth travelling across town for. Friendly staff and easy to order online at the table or at the bar.

Food was lovely. Staff were really friendly Paula was superb. We couldn't of asked for a better server. We regularly go into the Walter Tull and have never been disappointed with poor food. Would highly recommend. Thank you!
