The Stuffed Olive in Northampton

Great food is what you get when you combine good quality ingredients with a skilled chef. The service was exemplary and the ambience is a welcome respite from the business of the Wellingborough Road. This is our first visit but it won't be our last. Highly recommended.

Warmly welcomed, original, fresh and interesting food that was delicious!

We went as a party of 10 for lunch and the food wasn't great, no one had finished their mains. It was disappointing there wasn't any salad or sauces (BBQ sauce doesn't work with a Mediterranean dish) with the meat platter. The tagine was too sweet and bland. The potato was still hard and undercooked, the rice portion was tiny (see pictures) compared to the main. The food lacked flavour. We asked for chilli sauce and it had no heat - more of a tomato salsa 😭. The Lentils in the Bolognese was still hard and undercooked. The best dish was the free crispy bread and olive hummus (see pictures) that came out whilst we were waiting. Everyone in the party travelled for more than two hours only to leave hungry 😔. I love independent restaurants and wish the food was better. The Stuffed Olive 🫒 is a lovely restaurant with lots of thought put into the decor, lighting and ambience. There's a private dining room upstairs. The service was attentive and friendly staff. Lots of parking nearby and loads of independent shops on the busy high street.

Honestly the main food could have been better at this price point. However I wouldn't think twice to come again for some wine and dessert or a starter! Absolutely delicious wine selection and the staff was very pleasant.

Disappointing, I read the reviews and thought this place had promise. Staff were faultless but the food was underwhelming. The meat and vegetarian sharing skewers were a bit bland, some hummus or oil/vinegar would have helped liven them up. Main courses were unexceptional. Prices are a bit high for the fare on offer.

The food was ok, we had meat antipesto to start. It came on skewers. Underwhelming, quite smalm portions.@£7.50 per head. My daughter had the stuffed chicken for main, which was nice. We had Paella. - a bit bland, no prawns or squid, just clams & mussles, small portions, no lemon or complimentary bread. Ordered some wine, the bottle was warm, so had we had to chose different wine. It was ok. The service was ok, they got fairly busy though. It was just about average. The bill was £116 for 3. I wouldn't go back. There are nicer places to eat that are more value for money. We came home after a few drinks and ordered Pizza. We wouldn't normally do that 😂

We had a beautiful meal at The Stuffed Olive, amazing food and very friendly staff. No doubt we will be making a trip back soon.

The Stuffed Olive deserves a solid 5 stars! The staff anre exceptionally friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The food is top-notch, offering a delightful culinary experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, adding to the overall charm of the dining experience. A definite recommendation for those seeking great food and a pleasant ambiance!

We had our work Christmas party here. The restaurant is really lovely and nicely spaced out. The food was good, had a goats cheese tart to start with (though they did actually forget to bring it out at first), halibut for main which was delicious and then a mixed berry cheesecake to finish. The food was good, service was good. Will go back!

I would put 0 stars if i could.. Management at this place do not pay their staff - they have caused my friend a lot of stress by this especially at such a difficult time of year - do not recommend.

Ate here on a Tuesday night and was still busy (always a good sign!) - I had the lamb and was lovely and tender.

came for the first time with my partner last weekend and was the loveliest meal we have had out in a long time. Live music, lovely atmosphere and amazing service, staff were kind and helpful. Food was also amazing. Will definitely be returning!

A lovely well presented restaurant and everyone was super welcoming although the food is of good size portions I felt the quality could have been better. Prices are average but just not very memorable enough for me to go back unfortunately. It’s not one of those restaurants that you think ‘ah let’s go there again’ I feel this score maybe harsh but it’s only on the basis I know by the service and surroundings they can do better. Food was cooked well just could be of better quality.

Fish absolutely delicious unfortunately the meat platter for 2 left both people hungry.

This restaurant is fabulous, delicious food with an excellent choice on the menu. Being in the town, it's easily accessible and there's parking on the road or in a nearby car park, just a minute across the road. As it was a Wednesday, it was rather quiet, but I've been for lunch and in the evening, and it can be buzzing. Great friendly service!! If you're looking for somewhere to eat, that's not part of a 'chain' ......then do give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Great Vegan options available, delicious food with lovely plating, great for special occassions, especially on a weekday night. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Disappointing. The food is way overpriced and flavourless ! £23 for a standard bottle of white wine, £20 for sea bass with a few veg. It was meant to be served on top of mash potato, which is wasn’t. I had to ask where are the mash potatoes and they replied ‘oh sorry it should be there’ then they came back and bought me a side dish with mash in it. Then they tried to charge me £7.80 for a glass of coke! I questioned it and they said they charged me for two by mistake. It’s a good job I checked!

Tried this place out again after coming here a few times 10 years ago! There was a reason I didn't come back. I ordered burger, and received the driest patty on a dry bun. I mean that was literally it. No sauces, no onions nothing. I had to ask for ketchup and mustard. The chips that came with it were cut way to fat and not cooked all the way through. It takes more to make good food than making it look good on the place. Unfortunately this place is style over substance and clearly hasn't changed in the time it has been open. Not sure how its getting all these good reviews.

Booked for my mum's birthday on a Sunday. Can't complain about anything as the food was good, the service was top notch and The Stuffed Olive is a real gem of a place along the Wellingborough road in Northampton.

After 3 months cruising on the UK canals stopping every night for a different tasting experience and continuing to search for the ultimate dining, we finally found the Motherlode. Martinis, Lemon drops, and the lamb shanks which were slowly cooked, completed throughout, a fine sauce, falling off the bone with a clean crisp outer finish. Our gracious Romanian host crated a proper martini. The owner was gregarious and thrilled that we were fully satisfied and thrilled. It took a bus ride and a 15 minute walk to get to The Stuffed Olive and it was worth every minute of it. Kudos! Pat, David, Mike and Diane from Northern California.

Celebrated my birthday dinner on Friday at the Stuffed Olive. The atmosphere was very pleasant, staff are very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was very busy and staff made sure they attended to everyone. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I ate at the Stuffed Olive this evening for the first time.We have lived in Northampton for a number of years yet seemed to have missed this hidden gem!! The service was extremely friendly, professional and diligent. The food was incredibly tasty with adequate portions the presentation and attention to detail was 10/10. The ambiance was fun and relaxing with a lovely gentleman playing the guitar in the background, we felt as if we were on holiday not in the middle of Northampton. Thank you for a great evening and we look forward to coming back soon x

I don’t even know where to start. As soon as we got in , we felt the incredible smell of wee in the air. When we we sat down, the table was so sticky, we thought we should leave right away. But then, it was my birthday, Friday night, I thought, who knows-maybe the food is really good. So we stayed, big mistake. We have ordered a seafood paella, which was basically a meat paella with some grilled fish on top , not even fresh. Big disappointment!

absolutely disappointed ... piola was "gluggy" seafood old, fish dish uneatable, prices way too high...... avoid this restaurant!!!!

Have eaten here a few times and the food is delicious. Great selection of food and good choices for everyone.We also had our small wedding reception here and everyone said how lovely the food was. Always have a great service, can’t fault it. Can’t wait to go back again soon.

What lovely service and excellent food we received when my mum, sister and me dined here for the first time. Tuba, our waitress(sorry if I spelt it wrong) was delightful and we promised we would go back again. Mum and I would again travel from Sheffield, just for the experience. Highly recommended.

We visited on a Saturday evening, pre-booked a table and were still able to walk straight in. Not as busy as it has been previously. We both ordered the smoked salmon to start. They were very tasty, albeit extremely small and were eaten in 3 minutes. For mains I ordered the home made beef burger. It was very tasty and fresh. The only slight complaint was that the veg inside the burger was so cold, almost freezing that it made the burger itself cold. My wife ordered the garlic lemon stuffed chicken. Again this was really tasty but her only complaint was that it was covered in what looked and tasted like an Italian red sauce, not what was described on the menu. For desserts I ordered the cheese board which was really nice with a good selection and quality cheeses. My wife ordered the lemon shortbread cheesecake which she really enjoyed. We had a glass of wine each and a couple of coffees. Really good service and nice atmosphere. The total price was £85 which I think is fair for a fine dining experience.

Simply the best meal we've had during our two-week stay in the area. Vegan sharing platter with fantastic roasted veg, great flavours, amazing pastry. Loved the fresh peppercorns in the tomato sauce.

Food very tasty and lamb shank fell off the bone. Service could have been better. Was not busy but waited 10 minutes or more and drinks not served, 2 members of staff chatting behind the bar. Had to ask for them in the end, after another table that came in after us were served their drinks . No complimentary bread served with the starter, would have been nice to have side plate to put meat bones on as eating from dish difficult. Portion of vegetables very over priced. Seating very open and lacked a cosy feel.

Lovely (light) lunch having chose the pizza option....truly lovely.

Food ok but...... Once shown to our table all we could smell was this musty damp smell. It was like a wet dog, blocked toilet drain come stale flood water smell. We did notice 2 essential oil burners but not even they helped disguise the smell. Food ok had better in the past. My husband's burger was warm not hot, the fish ok, had better. To be honest the smell was so rank I doubt we would go back

Terrible service, waited 30 minutes for drinks and an hour for food, they brought out a pizza that was missing a slice and tried to manipulate the pizza to hide the missing slice l, I also ordered the £30 fillet steak and it came out very rubbery, the service was so slow and they kept coming back out to ask about the problem with the steak, they they came out to show me a raw piece of fillet that was delivered today and was fresh. (surely the first one should have been fresh). Would not recomend to anyone. They did replace the pizza and give us a free round of drinks. And removed the fillet from the bill

Food was okay. I was expecting better. Suprised at the deep pan pizza which was given in an italian place.

We had been here 4 years ago for my wife's 40th birthday so 4 years later thought we would revisit. It was a totally different experience, the blonde waitress who served us was very hospitable but when we placed our order she said the Christmas menu had only been launched that day so she was unsure of what was on offer. My wife and I ordered starters and asked for our children's mains to be served at the same time. Sadly this did not happen and their food was not served until at least an hour after we ordered. Whilst we were waiting for our food, a man appeared very casually dressed who appeared to be with a party of 4 ladies, turns out he was either a waiter or the owner of the business. He did not seem interested in our table despite the fact we were obviously not happy about the service. He seemed to be interested iby the staffn the air conditioning, it was really cold, but he never asked us whether we were happy or not with the temperature. After over an hour of waiting for our mains, I had to complain to the man/waiter as my kids were hungry and not happy at not receiving their food. Once I had complained, we were inundated with staff asking us whether everything was ok, absolute overkill. On the plus side, the food we received was very nice, but sadly the evening was overshadowed by the long wait for food and lack of attention by the staff. If I was offered a free meal in return for our poor experience I would return, if not I would not be returning or recommend this restaurant again.

Really gorgeous food but terrible slow service which we complained about. My poor children waited an hour for food. My husband and I received our starters but no sign of the kids meals. (Ordered to arrive at the same time) Huge wait between courses. Restaurant was barely a quarter full. Could be a gem if communication was improved on. Music deafening in the toilets. Lovely decor. Such a shame.

Sorry. It just wasn't your day. I found the prices expensive and maybe because we went on a Monday evening without booking the service might have been different It was a succession of little things that just didn't go right, for example there was nothing on the main meal we wanted and so we ordered two starters with chips. Is causing confusion as well as not understanding that we only wanted a small bottle of water. The starters arrived and we were told the chips will be coming in 5-minutes. Then we were asked whether or not we wanted anything including condiments and then we had to wait another 10 minutes for that I had to keep very quiet as I was going to lose my temper so my guest continue the conversation and as I expected it took less than minute for the bill to arrive. the food was ok and just ok I will not be visiting again

Lovely meal to celebrate our friend's 60th birthday

Booked the dining room for a birthday. On the hottest day of the year only 1 air con unit worked and periodically made a horrendous noise so you could barely talk to the person next to you. Ordered the ricotta and shallot pasta with mozzarella instead (being pregnant) and just got no cheese at all and 2 small shallots. Expensive prawn starter for the husband too (4 prawns lined up). Not bad food but not worth what they are charging. The waiting staff could not have been more attentive considering our large party and the faults that were out of their hands. One waiter tried countless times to fix the air con despite not being an electrician. One friend tried to speak to the owner who was rude and dismissive. Compensation was to remove the compulsory service charge which only affects the waiting staff who could not help the faults with his premises. So many other eateries I would go back to over this one.

Great food. Excellent, attentive staff. However, the loud, rattling air-conditioning meant you couldn't even speak to the person sat next to you in the function room. Upon raising it with the owner - he was rude, obnoxious and dismissive. Never again.

Lovely meal on Saturday night, attentive service, great wine and live music playing. Food was delicious, we shared olives and beef Carpaccio to start and had the cod and monkfish mains. All of it was amazing.

Nice food lovely atmosphere and lovely waitress

Just from personal experience, under seasoned starter, well presented main course, average cheese board. One of our group ordered pizza & it was almost raw dough in the middle. Rather underwhelming on a whole.

I had a perfect sunday afternoon with the best steak I've had in a long time.

Limited choice and the pasta was under cooked which is hard to get wrong and unexpected when you're paying a reasonable amount for it.
