Came here for lunch, food was fantastic and service was great

Delicious food, and great service overall. We had mains from their Sunday menu pork belly and Roast Beef. Recommend you to try their side dishes, the one we had was Bone Marrow cauliflower cheese, amazing.

Visiting in Summer 2024, I really enjoyed visiting Hops and Chops. I had the filet steak with a side of seasonal greens and creamy mash potatoes which was excellent. Steak was perfectly cooked to my request and the mash and veg were delicious. The service was exceptional with our server having great banter and helpful in recommending dinner options. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding which was perfectly portioned and really tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would visit again.

Great place for Sunday roast. My wife and I had beef roast with bone marrow cauliflower cheese. My son and his mate had the big roast, which was beef, chicken, lamb, pork, and pigs in blankets. Lovely veg , gravy, and horse radish sauce. Good selection of craft beers and cocktails. Very good dessert. Staff friendly and helpful. Only one criticism is not enough horse radish in the sauce , I like my nose to tingle. Overall, it's a great place for Sunday roast.

Chips and chops food is tasty , but overpriced for what it is . Potions are very Small , Yesterday we had dinner sharing Platter for two the Starter was very small, and the Main course the steak was too chewy , the pork and lamb half of it was just plain fat ,that no one could eat and the platter was just meat, salt and fat . No seasoning just plain , We had to go home and eat some bread ,because we left the restaurant still hungry 😏

Been coming to Hops for few years now, it’s not just a restaurant for me it’s also my local bar! Excellent meal there last night. Whilst not particularly busy (mid-week, middle of the month) the staff were friendly and attentive and clearly knew the quality of the food that was about to be served. Korean Pork Belly to start and it was everything you want pork belly to be. Ribeye to follow which was cooked perfectly and might have been the biggest 12 oz steak I've had. Definitely up there with some if the best steaks of had and that's against steaks from a Jason Atherton restaurant and the world famous steaks served in San Sebastian. Great sides with ginormous onion rings and a great take on a Caesar salad. Washed down with a good glass of Primitivo. Did I have room for desert? No. Did I order dessert, yes! Love's creme brulee with rose jam. Excellent finish to a great meal and an excellent evening catching up with friends. Top effort all round and will be very happy to head back very soon.

Best steak I’ve ever had- 100% better than the well known steak restaurant. Nduja butter was amazing as was the chorizo and manchengo mac and cheese. Will definitely be back!!

It was quite quiet when we went there. The service was a little slow and the meals seemed to take a long time coming. Personally I'd have liked the beef cooked a little longer but it was tender and taste. It didn't bleed on my plate either. In general the food was very good, the horseradish wasn't up to much though. I would be quite happy to go again and the prices were quite good value.

Never had a bad experience at Hops and Chops. Must try if you have never been before.

Great selection of food and drinks especially the ales all the meals were fantastic and great quality produce. Polite and friendly team too. Kids and adults all enjoyed the visit and will certainly be returning next time we are in the area.

Great place to eat. Very friendly and attentive waitress (thanks Ji!). Steak was so delicious, cooked to perfection and desert was scrummy!! Would recommend and always quiet on a Saturday lunch if fully booked in evening.

Sunday night Bourbon and Blues night was brilliant. At first I thought £50 for a 3 course meal was expensive, HOWEVER, you got everything on the menu! I thought you'd pick just one starter and one main and one pudding! how wrong was I. So much food, and all for £50 it was incredibly good value and delicious at the same time. Cocktails were £5 each, also a very good price. I hope there's more of these nights planned as it was fantastic value for all the food you were served.

A good size restaurant situated within a well developed housing estate with ample parking available around the back of the establishment. Once inside you could be anywhere, at last I’ve found a restaurant whose chef is more than capable of producing a tasty gravy of the correct consistency. Made very welcome by the staff who didn’t fuss but were on hand the moment you required them and couldn’t do enough to make sure the experience was pleasurable. Fantastic steaks cooked to your liking and very generous portion with the offer of extra gravy and condiments if required. I haven’t experienced a restaurant quite as good locally and will definitely be going back. Large group bookings available or just a quiet one for two catered for.

We only had drinks, but nice atmosphere and friendly staff and nicely set out inside.

Dined here a few nights with a small group of friends . Had a few problems with cold food , some steaks were quite fatty too. But worst of all was the portion size of the duck breast . It was queried with waitress and she did speak to the chef but was advised duck breast is smaller than a chicken. Well aware of that but that must have been the smallest duck in the history of the world. Considering the £26 price tag you would expect more than 2 mouthfuls .

It was my first time visiting Hops & Chops at the weekend for a Sunday roast and all i can say is WOWWWWW! since it opened i have heard a lot about it, but never thought about going as its across town. Such a calm non chaotic enviroment, lovely staff and amazing food! we had the 3 course Sunday lunch option. the blue cheese thingy was delicious, the lamb was cooked perfectly and the belly pork was amazing too! not to mention the sides and desserts! they were fantastic also. we ordered way too much as we always do when we go out to eat because we are always unsure about the portion sizes. but Hops and Chops did not disappoint. portion sizes were plentiful. we were even offered a container to take the rest home if we wished. a special shout out chef's Dorr, Bella & Jack. The best roast i have had in a very long time! & thank you for your hospitality Gi & Shannon who made our drinks and served our food. we did not feel rushed in anyway and enjoyed the experience. Exceptional service! We will be visiting again!

Went for a meal with the family. What can I say, except phenomenal. 1. Lovely decor 2 Amazing food - the mash is to die for, the cauliflower cheese 🤤. And don’t get me started on the Pork Belly main! Great food and service, good beer too

It is our second time going and the food was delicious. Was a big group of us and the service was amazing. Went for my partners birthday and they gave him a card which was such a lovely gesture. Would highly recommend to go for food!

Lunch time..empty restaurant. Food poor value, not served hot and small portions for £22 paid for main course. Treacle tart excellent but Brownie rock ,rock hard and not nice and £8. Lovely caring and friendly waitress.

Used to be the best roast in Northampton unfortunately after today’s experience the food has gone drastically down hill. Meat was over cooked and so was the Yorkshire pudding and the potatoes had no flavour. Best part of the meal was the root vegetables. Cauliflower cheese is no longer included in roasts and now an extra £7!! to add to meal, this is an outrageous increase. In light of how much the roasts have changed in taste, portion size and what’s included we will not be returning which is a huge shame as we were big fans previously and recommended to everyone we knew, this is no longer the case.

Several things on the menu I hadn't come across before. I had the cauliflower steak which I really enjoyed. Portions are small though ... apart from the macaroni cheese side dish!

What a totally unexpected surprise! This little hidden gem was well worth a visit. The food was unusual and delicious. The staff were very accommodating as we are both on Dry January and a Carb Free month too! Can’t wait to go back when we can really enjoy it.

Fantastic meal on Christmas Eve with the family. Exceptional food and amazing service. Blonde waitress (didn’t get her name) went out of her way to make sure my nephew was happy with pencils, recommendations and a candy cane. Best service and food we’ve all had in a while! Had the bread, fig Brie, duck breast, biscoff cookie, pork belly. All amazing.

Last minute booking delicious food very accommodating service

Restaurant located in residential area on outskirts Northampton. Pleasant atmosphere. Came on works Xmas dinner Friday eve around 8pm. Fairly busy to start but empty by 10. Food starter, pork cheek, rib eye steak and double chocolate brownie all very tasty. It's a shame plates were metal as very quickly lost heat and your food is stone cold by the time you are half way through eating it and who wants to eat stone cold food. This is a big mistake in my opinion. Hope mananagement take note of this because I think it will deter people from returning.

Sunday lunch and I had roast lamb. Meat was very tender but did find it hard to carve my way through the amount of fat in the meat. Everything else was tasty.. Lovely roasties, cauliflower cheese greens and gravy. White chocolate bread and butter pudding was super.

Having seen other reviews was feeling a bit dubious about our visit but was very happy with our experience. We visited as a group of 6 on a Wednesday night, so wasn't busy. We all ordered burgers and they were great. I shared an OG Hops and Fifty Shades of Gravy with my other half and both were delicious. The Fifty shades burger is an absolute beast! The jus with that burger was so rich and the chips were perfectly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I had 2 cocktails and they were both great. Everyone else had desserts (I was too full!) and they all enjoyed them very much.

Fantastic restaurant, so happy we found this gem. Visited for a Sunday roast and can say one of the best I've ever had. The beef was excellent, the veg beautiful and the potato's perfectly roasted. Will be back soon, great atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Always great food never dissapoints

This has been my favourite restaurant for years, but tonight it was really disappointing. The crinkle cut chips were like McCain oven chips and were under done. The onion rings have halved in size and barely had any batter on them. The dessert tasted great but at £9 for a square of very hard chocolate brownie I’d have expected something more. The bill came in at £15 more than usual too. Very disappointing.

We have absolutely loved coming here and supporting local and despite disappointment on our last 5 occasions we kept returning in the hope it was just settling in to the change in chef and style, however the food continues to be disappointing. Everything contains SO MUCH salt some dishes are inedible. We couldn't even eat the dessert coz it tasted of nothing but salt, to clarify it was not a salted dessert and no salted caramel. It has been our go to restaurant for years and Henry was always an amazing host, now unfortunately it is unlikely we will return which is such a shame. The menu has also been limited for us by the introduction of fast food style options, if that is what we wanted we would get fast food. I may be old fashioned but I also like my food on a plate not a chunk of wood. It's a shame to lose somewhere local that used to be so good.

Service was really slow. Beef was really fatty & too tough to cut through. Only served one small plate of veg for 3 of us, had to ask for more. Ordered a bottle of rose, when drinks came the server advised it was out of stock, no problem , ordered a Pinot blush instead. 10 minutes later she bought over a bottle of white Pinot, took it away &, after another 10 minutes, bought the right bottle, then charged us for all 3 bottles! Real shame as we had high hopes for this place. Definitely not worth the price. Cauli cheese & parsnips were nice though.

Been here a few times. Very good. Catching servers eye can be tricky, even when quiet, but service is fine beyond that. We paid over £100 for three meals (main and desserts). Steaks and burgers had by the group and all very good - except chorizo beans. They were universally accepted as "bad".

We went for a Sunday roast after hearing good things, and we were not disappointed! The pork belly bites to start were a particular highlight. For main we all had the roast beef and it was beautifully cooked. The sides where very tasty and the portion size was massive. Not only do you get quality, but it was backed up with quantity!
