Coming back for second time only because of the professional service and attitude of Jackie. She deserves a big salary increase the way she treats people and is smilling all the time. She was so busy with the whole restaurant but despite this never showed it on her face. Looks like the place was understaffed but she did fabulous job! Please raise her salary significantly, she's amazing!

The staff were all very happy and efficient. We ate here on our first night in the Premier Inn and on night 4 our last night. After recent experiences in restaurants attached to Premier Inns this overall was a good experience made by the staff who were fantastic Nikki our server on night 4 was a lovely lady made the night Evidently the bar had no delivery that week and from the first night to our last was out of Vodka, Bacardi, Mount Gay Rum (night 3) Raspberry Gin (night 2). Syrup for the mixer pump (night 2) Glass washer didn’t work night 3 still not working night 4 This put tremendous pressure on the young lady who served the drinks, cleared the tables and served food in the bar area Seemed a hec of a lot of work and stress for one person Last orders 10pm on the Monday 9.30pm on the Tuesday and Wednesday a bit confusing But you could by as many drinks as you wanted on last orders and no pressure to leave All in all a good experience

Enjoyed a lovely meal. Jaqui took over service from a colleague leaving her shift. We disliked the very over cooked crispy squid but all other elements were fine.

Food was OK, nothing to write home about however the service was fab. Gill was lovely, espeshally great with the kids. Great asset to the team 👌🏻

Ordered 2 steaks with sides plus onion rings , we were seated at the top so could see the chefs and the kitchen . the onion rings were on the shelf cooked and waiting to go out, I happened to look over and seen the chef picking up the onion rings with no gloves on and moving them about. when they came out I asked if we could have fresh ones plus they also cold , it was no problem for the waitress but the chefs assistant continually chewing his gum and staring through the kitchen put us right off after that , then the steaks came bouncy and full of grizzle worst steak ever eaten. Hence never again ☹️

Great restaurant - Gillian is awesome.. The food is great and not too expensive - plenty of parking - what's not to like. The lunchtime menu is good, but unfortunately they've removed the chicken wings from the menu - the replacement double crunch wings are a poor replacement being greasy and nowhere near as nice as the plain wings.

Hands down the best food I’ve had in a while. Not only was the food amazing but the customer service deserved a gold star. Went above and beyond and nothing was too much hassle. Stopped after a long day just for a little food, very happy I did. Will definitely be going back and maybe booking for special occasions. Well done team x

We was waiting about 5 minutes to be seated. Lady which took our order was lovely. However our ordered continental bfast had half items missing. Our cooked bfast was nice. We was waiting over 10 min for double espresso so we just gave up and walked away. Restaurant needs more team members as you just can't keep up with table service having only 3 team members. Restaurant wasn't even full. We didn't enjoy our experience as we have to chase for our missing food items and espresso never arrived...

Lovely meal and great service by Charlotte. Charlotte was so attentive to our needs due to our child having complex needs. Me, my daughter and husband came in this evening for a meal. We had the new mixed grill which was yummy. Little bit of feedback on the food, the chicken wasn't marinaded and it only had the grilled tomato instead of cherry on vine tomatoes but no biggy. Steak was perfect and all the meat was great and everything was hot. The best part was Charlotte she made it from a 4* to a 5*. She's so genuine and lovely, you can't train her lovely presence and kindness. I was nervous as a first time mum about my young daughter as she's not been out much (spent half her life isolated on lock down) and I thought she was a bit loud but Charlotte made me feel at ease and so much more comfortable. Cannot thank Charlotte enough, Whoever the Boss is she's a keeper!! : )Thank you xx

Food was lovely and great value for money, and the service was so quick. Our waitress Helen was an absolute delight - she was so friendly and attentive to our requirements. Within seconds of us being seated she explained the COVID safety guidelines to us putting us at ease. Will definitely e returning.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family - including one member of the party who is in a wheelchair. We arrived in two cars and told the host that we required a table with wheelchair access. We were stuck in a cramped corner, no chairs were taken away from the table to make room for the wheelchair ahead of arriving. We ended up having to move a chair ourselves and find somewhere suitable to leave it. During the meal, we looked around for the disabled toilet to see that it was behind us but that a family of four was seated immediately in front of the door - not enough room for an able-bodied person to access the toilet without asking a stranger to move, let alone a wheelchair. Very embarrassing. We asked the manager if there was another toilet, he said no and walked away. About 5 minutes later, the family was asked to move from its table and went to sit at another table. We were also told that the restaurant had never had any issues with its DDA inspections which we found difficult to believe due to proximity of table to door. We were made to feel embarrassed and as though we were making a fuss. We also felt embarrassed that the other family had been asked to move. The manager was dismissive and made us feel as though we were the problem. Once inside the toilet, it was dirty with rubbish everywhere. A very poor, embarrassing experience, a manager who made us feel like an inconvenience and second-class citizens and we will not visit again.

Came here last Saturday with my family, Food was delightful and was super quick service! The staff and managers were really friendly and lovely I could not fault them! With everything covid 19 related I was a bit anxious before heading out but I felt at ease there.

Great meals. Staff very helpful, cheerful and friendly. Service was good as we where not rushed or felt to be a nuisance as we had the table for the evening. All service done in a safe manner adhering to covid safety rules. I would definitely recommend.

Went for a belated birthday meal and we weren’t disappointed. Lots of tables all socially distanced. Prompt and friendly service. We were well looked after by Jackie, for whom nothing was too much trouble. I had the mixed grill and every part of it was cooked to perfection. The meats being so succulent and tender and perfect triple cooked chips. All washed down with a good pint of Doom Bar.Definitely recommend a visit here. We’ll certainly be returning

I visited here a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday in the middle of August with family. I spoke to Sean to make the booking on the phone who was more than accommodating. He explained the new measures that they had in place and reassured me that they were able to take my booking in a safe way. This was the first restaurant meal that myself and my family had been to and the first birthday we were able to celebrate as an extended household since way before lockdown. My party consisted of two households, ranging in age, including my grandparents who had been shielding. Everyone was made to feel completely safe and comfortable with the one way system and the extra hygiene measures. We were welcomed and served by Rachel who went above to make sure everyone was accommodated. Our table was out of the way upstairs in the window which helped with some anxious members of the party, who did not want to be that close to others. I had submitted a preorder before the evening to help with the running of things and Rachel made sure to double check with me, which provided me with ease. The service was extremely positive, nothing was too much trouble. Rachel was assisted by another young girl (I did not catch your name, sorry) who was equally as helpful.The drinks, starters and mains all arrived in plenty of time for us to enjoy, with no issues at all. Along with some enjoying a dessert to finish off the evening. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the evening, all made better by the service. I would like to thank you all for making a special occasion, even more great!

This was our 2nd visit since lock down. Food was much improved since last year. And our server Jackie that looked after us both times was really very helpful and friendly.

Popped in on the way home and yes I know the meal deal on but really !!! the tables and floors were stinking with food, the service was terrible and had to bring staff from the Ttavelodge to help serve and so slow and when the food finaly arriived 7 chips and 5 pieces of scampi. My 6 year old and I visited for lunch today. We received a warm welcome from Dan and asked to scan our details for track and trace and to use hand sanitizer. We were seated in the bottom section of the restaurant and advised to use certain seats to maintain social distancing from the next table. Drinks arrived promptly from a very pleasant young barman, Ethan, and our order was taken by Rachel. When our food arrived it was piping hot and delicious with all the condiments we requested. I had Chicken and Ribs with fries and a peppercorn sauce, my daughter chose Tomato Penne Pasta with fries and mini corn on the cob. She demolished it! As did I! I couldn't manage a dessert but she had a Chocolate Ice cream. Overall, brilliant from start to finish and all for £12!? Bargin!

Nikki our Waitress gave us a wonderful service and welcome. I had for Starters...Buttermilk Chicken Goujons-Coated in rosemary breadcrumbs, topped with jalapeños, creamy cheese sauce and smokey tomato dip. Main...Scampi-Served with garden peas, tartare sauce and skinny fries.Desert...Ice cream-Two scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with strawberry sauce and wafer. My hubby had for Starters...Crispy Flat Cao Mushrooms and for Main...Beefeater Mixed Grill but no Dessert. Yummie. Compliments to the Chef. Will definitely come again. Thank you Walston Castle for fantastic Meals and wonderful staff. Xx

I have been staying in hotel next door and tonight I had the mixed grill. No onion rings but was offered a replacement item instead. It was lovely and even though I'm a big eater I struggled. Will be returning.

Arrived this evening for a meal to be left waiting outside for 25 mins without any explanation to then be told they had a power cut and they wouldn’t be seating anyone for at least and hour and half!

Regular visitor, can’t really fault this place, mixed grill excellent, had maybe one bad meal in 100, breakfast usually spot on, 1st post lockdown one not so great, few teething problems maybe? Staff top notch, always polite and cheery, can’t do enough for you Will certainly be staying as our regular.

Initially a little slow to get drinks. However, apologies were made and our mixed grill was delivered quickly. They were cooked perfectly as per our request. Our server was Helen and was excellent. She couldn't do enough for us. Well done.

I came here via Premier Inn for breakfast. The level of service was terrible, probably the worst i ever had. There were 4 of us 2 adults 2 children, they served all food on 1 plate and expected us all to eat from that 1 plate, no side plates were offered, then you had to go and make your own toast, there was a queue and it took 10 minutes to get the toasts, by the time i came to the table rest of the food was cold. We bought a unlimited breakfast, we only was offered 1 glass of orange juice and thats it, no tea or coffee.I've been staying at Premier Inn for the past few years, and everywhere i stayed their breakfast was 10/10, this beefeater has dropped their standards.

Visited on 2 consecutive evenings, both during the 'Eat out to Help out' government scheme, some food items were sold out particularly the first evening which we could appreciate following a weekend but we couldn't fault the staff, they were superb considering how unbelievably busy they were. Amy, Charlotte and Rachael were so so helpful especially as these are difficult times and the scheme has undoubtedly increased business. The food was also superb, well worth a visit.

Disgusting the food was cold my sons burger was wet underneath lettuce was friend and cold burgers larger was flat the Pepsi was flat and warm icecream was completely melted never got offered sauces or salt and pepper waitress we hardly seen never go there again was disgusting prices are really bad

Three of us had breakfast here as a part of our Premier Inn booking. Arrived at time slot (covid-19 set up) to be shown to a table quickly. Drinks and breakfast order taken within 10 minutes. Noticed straight away that there were only 2 members of staff on duty covering the whole breakfast shift (at least 20 tables while we there). Unfortunately our breakfast came about an hour after ordering and chasing up (table service rather than buffet style due to covid-19). Apparently only 1 chef on shift but other tables who had come in 20 mins after us got theirs first and they were a bigger order. The beans were dried and shrivelled, bacon had shrunk and burnt and hash browns were like cardboard - mushrooms were nice and buttery and the sausages were really nice. No extra drinks were offered after out initial ones being brought over (because they were so busy and because there was no self service). I didn't get the extra plate to get the toast and we didn't get the condiments we asked for. It was a shame as these Premier Inn breakfasts are normally really good!

We had a lovely meal yesterday evening which was complimented by having such a lovely waitress. Jackie was super friendly, bubbly and smiley and a real credit to the team at The Walston Castle!

Jackie was our waitress. She was fantastic. Very kind and had good manners. Got our food and drinks out to us at a good time and was always about if we needed something. All in all a very good experience. Food was great. Price was good. Setting was lovely. Would definitely recommend!

We arrived for breakfast, we were left looking for staff to greet us ready for a table. Staff sat around table away from the entrance. Firstly, the restaurant was cold and informed that the coffee machine was out of service. However, refused for us to have a coffee made from behind the bar (which was clearly working). We went to make use of the continental breakfast, the muffins were stale, fruit salad looked like had been sat there a while as had all dried up. The toaster area was cluttered with used dishes, including a bowl of soggy cornflakes and spoon. No clean plates available, for which we had to request. There was a selection of plates that supplied pancakes, crumpets and muffins which were dirty. Finally, when it came to paying staff were nowhere to be seen. Had to enter hotel to ask reception staff to find kitchen staff. On paying the computer system failed however payment was made on the card machine and the server requested a photo of my bank statement showing my pending transaction. Our experience was ruined and we felt fairly grubby after leaving. I will note though, the cooked breakfast was good. It’s just a shame the service wasn’t great nor the environment.

Once we were seated, Jacquie, our server, was very attentive and the meal arrived fairly quickly. Very pleased with the food, though there was not much choice of gluten free desserts. Nothing was too much trouble for Jacqui. I would recommend this Restaurant.

Went there for a birthday celebration for my partners sons birthday... Omg it was distuging pls don't have the chicken and bbq ribs it was cold and it tastes like crap the bbq sauce was lumpy and tastes horrible ... I ordered a strawberry yogurt cheesecake and it was brown in colour couldn't chew it and was hard to swallow it looks like it was 4 months out of date.i told the waitress and she looked at me disgusting when I said it shouldn't be on the menu

Weekend visit to my cousin, we when to the Walston Castle in Wenvoe. We had a excellent steak meal served by Gill, our waitress for the evening. We all went back the following morning for breakfast.

We didn’t book but popped in on the off chance. We were a party of 4 and we all had Sunday dinners. The food was beautiful and we all cleared our plates. More importantly the service was fantastic! The male manager was so attentive and the female waitress was so friendly. We stayed for dessert and they was also delicious. I would highly recommend a visit

Fair play to this place , you couldn't get better.food was amazing, Atmosphere incredible but most importantly in my opinion the service. Nikky was an incredible server and really knew her stuff.I would recommend to anyone!

Visit here quite often, food is well priced, good selection and the service is always good! I'd recommend booking a table as there are 40% offers on mains, so it's often really busy and booked up.

Came down with friends and children for half term lunch. Kids eat free which is always a bouns. Food was lovely as always as come her often with friends and family for both food and drinks as it is our local. Always welcomed everytime we come in such a lovely atmosphere staff are great and Ben is always does his best to accommodate you and help with our ever demanding needs aka children. Would recommend popping in to say hello and seeing for yourself.

Weekend in Cardiff and close to hotel so we ventured down not expecting too much but were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was great, very attentive and warm and welcoming. They had a three course menu for £19.99 all of which off the main menu so potato dippers, burgers, chicken, risotto, salmon later we were all happy full and the ladies managed to consume 3 bottles of Prosecco between them and still the bill was not crazy expensive. Great for families, 8 year old with us, great for plentiful hot fresh food and great fun.

Came here this evening with my 19 yr old daughter. We were served by Nikki who had a smile on her face the whole time we were there. We ate off the day time menu my daughter had paprika chicken and i had the sirloin steak. Both meals we very tasty, although my steak was slightly over salted. Even though we had off the lunch menu we could still have bottomless chips and pepsi max. Good value for money and very tasty. We will be back.

Just popped in on a quiet Sunday as we had received a discount voucher for January. Staff were all friendly and helpful, food was good, (bar a humous missing from shared platter out of stock which my wife loves). It was all just as it should be, Good food good service friendly staff. Many thanks.

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and as we already had a discount voucher for the restaurant (through the post) it was a no-brainer to pop in here to eat.It has a nice atmosphere and the staff were all friendly. We'd booked a table, but when we arrived found it would be upstairs which would be tricky for my wife who has bad knees. Not a problem as a different table was quickly sorted downstairs instead with no fuss whatsoever.The initial service was a bit slow (around 20 mins from sit down to ordering) even through it was a fairly quiet friday evening - mainly as our server was chatting with some of their friends at a nearby table. The food was a little slow to arrive, but when it did it was good quality and hot - and just as importantly was a good portion size. We were also told it was "bottomless chips" if we wanted more.We both had the same - a double lobster stack (2 burgers with a battered lobster tail on a brioche bun with various accoutrements and chips). Very tasty and filling.Will probably eat here again next time we're in the area.

I visited the Walston Castle yesterday (Fri 24/01) to catch up with old friends I hadn’t seen a while. I was a bit anxious arriving early before anyone else and I was served at the bar by such a friendly gentleman who made me feel at ease. The staff as a whole ensured we all had a lovely evening but I would like to say a special thanks to Ben Murphy for providing the most excellent, friendly professional customer service to us all. It’s not often I ask for a name but credit where credit is due Ben made our night. I’m sure we’ll be back!!!

16 of us plus 3 little ones. Great value and the service and food were great. We've been before and will go again. No lift to first floor so dad struggled with his walking stick to get up and down so ask for a downstairs table if you have anyone with mobility issues. Otherwise it was great.

Spur of the moment visit for lunch on Sunday, service was great, I cannot stress enough how friendly and efficient our waitress was! By far the only saving grace for this visit. Ordered our food and from the moment the plates hit the table it all went down hill; my premium Surf & Turf was terrible, over cooked and tough steak and cheap fried sea food but being British and repressed I ate what I could, my own decision and fault so I can’t complain too much.My wife’s Sunday roast was passable but she spent the next day being ill.Beefeater meals are usually very good, maybe we just caught the kitchen on an off day.

Celebrated my brother's 50th birthday with family and friends. We we put upstairs as we were a larger part. No issues with food ordering was straightforward considering how many of us there was. The staff were great especially with the young children nothing was a bother for them. Special mention must go to the manager on the night Ben Murphy such a great host made all our party feel welcome he engaged with the children he couldn't do enough for us and all with a smile 9n his face hes a credit to the business we can not wait to celebrate there again.

We booked this restaurant for a early evening meal when the restaurant was less than half full,from the off we was bundled into another area different from what we had booked. We were given a seat and we sat down with the menus and placed an order for our drinks whilst we made our choices. Upon sitting we were Informed that no choices on the festive menus was left and to look at the main menu,this was annoying as automatically it mean we were at a loss on the festive menu price offers.When they got around to taking our order some 20 mins later we chased our drinks that had still not arrived,sadly another 10 mins had elapsed before they finally arrived (30 mins from ordering them) by which time the kids drinks were flat and the lager too and the wine was poor). When the food arrived yet again our expectations were crushed,the mixed grill with sirloin steak I had ordered was cold,dry and greasy.The mushroom sopping with grease and the chicken was as dry as bone and stone cold. The kids meal was more of the same as was the gammon steak my wife chose. My sons burger resembled something you could get from a lay-by burger van and looked sad. As the mains had been such a disappointment and under pressure I ordered deserts for three out of the four of us,sadly given the prices these were overpriced and of poor standard and smallportions and not what the waitress had mis-informed us what they would be like. Added to this when my son asked for a refill for his drink he was told that it would be quicker for him to go and get it from the bar downstairs rather than the waitress as she told him she was too busy?!!!,this was the final nail on a ruined meal. For the price we paid it was way overpriced and trying to sell its menu on past glories and not on current service. Sadly the food was dire it was cold,dry,bland and not that fresh tasting. The service was awful,uncaring,inaccurate and lazy at best. I must say if this was one of my restaurants in my region I would be sending some of these staff on training courses to refresh their customer service ethics it was that bad. A simply terrible meal and with a high price tag and left me feeling we had been taken advantage of. This is one complaint for head office to sort out!

We have been to this restaurant a few times and have always had amazing meals. The staff and Manager are very friendly and are always there if you have any problems. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My partner had the mix grill - steak was cooked perfect! I had the vegan burger - best vegan food I’ve ever tasted!! All topped off by the amazing service received by our lovely waitress Rhiannon! Have are here on 3 occasions now, and wanted to review the levels of service and food that are here. All top notch, Gill gave great customer service and even offered my extra chips! Helen was super and ensured my meal was all good. The food also is perfect, cooked as requested. Try the festive set menu, perfect balance if quality and quantity whilst still value for money!

Came here with friends and 2 babies! Nothing was too much for the staff as they helped carry my pram to our table! Food was really tasty I had the Feta lasagne which was great price and great quality! Will definitely be returning

Met a friend for dinner and a catch up with my little one, ask for a booth if possible as it is easier with the little one and was no trouble at all, we where shown to our table by Nikki who was also looking after us, fab service, nothing was to much trouble for her and she also made a fuss of my little one as well . Me and my friend both had the lunchtime open chicken sandwich which was lovely, our table was in front of the chefs cooking and as soon as our meals where put up they where brought straight away. Meals also come with “bottomless“ chips which means you can have as many as you like, and they were lovely chips to.Thank you Nikki for looking after us. Grate Service, Grate Food and Good Value for money our bill came to £19 for two starter's, two meals and two drinks one which was a free refill.Will definitely visit again soon.

The waitress Helen was lovely but the food was poor. Granted I asked for the burger without salad but as you can see from the photos this was a pretty poor meal for £15.69. The patty size was tiny (about the size of the rim of a pint glass, the pulled beef barely had any peppercorn sauce was quite dry and was scarce (about a spoons worth of pulled beef would be generous to say) all in all quite underwhelming for the headline ‘burgers made bolder!’ The ribs that were ordered were ok, the melting chocolate bomb was hard and didn’t melt! An unfortunate experience, not great value for money on this occasion.

Food is poor quality, steak full of fat and gristle, wasn't offered an alternative. Poor service, didn't listen to order at all.

My Son and his girlfriend decided to take me out for a birthday meal. I ordered the Sunday lamb roast, which was nice,but it said lamb loin,it came cut up. Not to happy. Some veg,yet as much gravy, roasted and gray as you want. Even with that it was over priced. I didnt set my birthday meal as I didnt tick the 'accept' box. Service was nice and friendly and drinks came as we ordered. But will still recommend here.

We chose haddock and chips which was a little disappointing as the batter was soggy, perhaps from being a little under-cooked. But overall the visit was enjoyable, the drinks were good and we received a lovely welcome off Chloe - thank you.

Came for lunch today, was pleasantly surprised the food was good value and the service was brilliant (Lucy) it was really busy, we were seated and served quickly. It was clean and a nice atmosphere

Excellent meal with family, the staff made us very welcome. Our waitress was Rachel, very pleasant and helpful with our choice of meals. We will return at a later date.

Visited on 16 th October for my twins 11 th birthday 6 people .. were served by Jackie .. Everything was spot on , service and standard of food ..Jackies customer care made the experience ..Sunday 19 th visited for my aunties 90 th birthday ..Ten of us this time .Again quality of food outstanding sone of us had the beef roast which was very good , all meals hot and very high standard ..This time we were served by a gentlemen and lady both managers I think ..Outstanding service again ..

Have to say I have found the place a little hit and miss ,but last night from our scallops ,halloumi and chicken and duck wings starters to our dry aged 12 oz fillet steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to say me and my partner were over the moon was an understatement well done , and I will be back again , as I was money well spent , keep up the good work

Visiting for work with a colleague- both had burgers, very tasty. Staff were very friendly and good crack to have a chat with.

We booked a table as we were picking up family from the Airport. We arrived on time and were seated at the back by the serving area. The staff were friendly and welcoming but that is where the positive points end. There were four of us and our 2 year old. We ordered four beef Sunday Lunch’s and a Chicken Lunch for our child. The beef was a terrible cut and chewy ( I ordered medium rare). The vegetables consisted of Cabbage, Green Beans, Peas, Carrot Mash and we ordered Cauliflower Cheese as an extra. The Cabbage was dry and lifeless as were the green beans. The Roast Potatoes and Yorkshire Puddings were cooked from frozen and were hard. The only thing that tasted nice was the carrot mash. My daughter ( who has a fabulous appetite), hardly ate her lunch. The chicken was over cooked and tasted like rubber. At £13.99 for one course would have expected a lot better. Will never eat here again !

Holding a Beefeater Grill Reward Club membership card means you take advantage of the discounts at every opportunity. So when I visited Cardiff recently, staying at the adjoining Premier Inn Cardiff West, this restaurant was a safe bet - and very convenient because it occupies the same site.This restaurant has many different rooms on more than one level, so it can be a bit disorientating at first. I was told on requesting a table that there would be a short wait as there were no tables ready. It was suggested that I could eat at the bar - a prospect which was not very edifying at the time: the small bar area was overrun by burly rugby fans, so not very welcoming to the uninitiated, but the bar was unattended anyway, so realistically even a drink while waiting wasn't a viable proposition. Luckily the wait wasn't too long, and once seated the prospect quickly improved.It has been a few months since I was last in a Beefeater - as my reviews in these pages will testify - so it is always interesting to discover new additions to the menu, as well as of course rediscovering all the old favourites. This time I had to start with the Canadian Scallops with mashed potato and bacon (see picture). Though it matters little to me what nationality they are, they were delicious nonetheless. Perfectly cooked and tender. This dish is still not very substantial as a starter, but it is still an improvement on the former option, a starter consisting of 3 solitary looking scallops in a little pan served with 2 small slices of ciabatta. Still, this was ameliorated by a side order of Halloumi fries - something of a novelty, but still better than those insipid supermarket varations that we are all perhaps more familiar with (see picture). For the main course, it was interesting to try the fillet streak stroganoff: essentially strips of beef served with a stroganoff sauce, and a welcome variation on this traditional Russian dish (see picture). Interestingly, the option of serving it as beef strips was originally a French variation dating back to 1938, although the dish itself has been around since Tsarist times, with the first published recipe dating back to 1871. It was served with a good stroganoff sauce, and was actually very enjoyable. Dessert was optional but as a treat I opted for the Black Forest Sundae, mostly because it looked quite spectacular. That too was excellent.The whole experience was all the more pleasant because the lady serving me - Nikki - was overly attentive and friendly, which is always welcome. Overall, thumbs up!

The food was very nice. A woman who I assume would be the manager, didn’t crack a smile the entire time we were there. Our server a blonde lady was very friendly and helpful, and brought us a balloon for our son who was quite unsettled. Food was really nice, my steak was cooked to perfection which is a first for me in a restaurant. My side salad was really nice. The service was very slow, however considering there were 2 waitresses in the whole place, we didn’t expect it to be fast. They both looked run off their feet. My only other negative point would be that we waited 30 minutes for someone to come back to take our pudding order, after we asked for ‘a few more minutes’, 30 wasn’t quite what we meant! We had a 40% off mains voucher which took £18 off our bill which was a great end to the meal.

Great breakfast, everything cooked to perfection, friendly and attentive staff, definitely recommend.

Stayed at this hotel as a couple and decided to take advantage of the dinner bed and breakfast option in the attached Beefeater. A good price for the two course meal and a drink included in the price. Recomended.

Lovely service from Rachel and the manager even checked on us when our mains came out. Food was lovely and the service was good too. We will definitely be coming back.

Visited on the 6th September 2019 for my Daughters birthday, was served by Jacqui. She was exceptional but over worked, not enough staff for the amount of customers. Food was poor for price paid. Although the menu states unlimited salad, chips or vegetable medley you aren't offered any more and portions are very small for prices charged. It was impossible to ask for more without increasing the work load on an already overworked member of staff. My Dad had chilli which came in a small bowl, the portion size was a children's size. I had sweet potato and feta lasagne which was sadly lacking, it stated it came with flatbread but it wasn't it was garlic bread which I don't like. All in all the food is very over priced and we were disappointed. Won't be returning.

Visited on bank holiday Sunday having received a voucher for 40 per cent of mains, visited with my family who where down from London. Table was booked , on arrival shown to table immediately,everything was fine. Unfortunately from then on things went from bad to worse. Waited over an hour for food to be served, despite the fact the food was cooked and sitting on hotplate for at least 15 minutes. Children's food served on red hot plates and the wrong food, this was all sent back as you don't serve red hot plates to 2 year olds. The mains that we received were pretty poor, items missing from plate and generally dried out . Having sat opposite the grill station I was able to watch the staff and it is clear to see why it only has a 3 star food rating, grill chefs on mobiles, waitress grabbing salad out of bags and putting it on plates despite just handling cash from customers. We were in this restaurant for 2 hours at peak time and 95 per cent of the time there was only 2 waitresses servicing the entire building and also getting drinks from the bar. Shame on you beefeater, a bank holiday, sending out money off vouchers, what did you expect a quiet Sunday afternoon !! Would I visit again, certainly not , please do not send me any money offvouchers , I would far rather go elsewhere. It spoilt my bank holiday with my family and could so easily have been avoided if the beefeater put their hand in their pocket and employed more staff.
