A lunchtime visit on Monday 17th May. All the food was freshly prepared, well presented and great value for money. We had a mixture of meals: scampi, smoked haddock & fish cakes.

Fantastic little gem of a pub. Run by husband and wife who are lovely. I work not far away but live 25 miles away but definitely worth a trip out to enjoy the pub regularly

Stayed locally with 2 large family groups and liked the idea of walking down to this local . They were so hospitable and went out of their way to make us welcome and accommodate our food and drinks requirements. The food was basic pub Fare but tasty and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend 👍

First of all, the food we had was good, bacon and brie panini with side salad each, a portion of chips, all generous portion size and a couple of drinks. Visiting on a Friday lunchtime, a number of items were unavailable, no hot baguettes, no onion rings...and on what was a chilly February afternoon no hot drinks available at all. There was a log burner going but it appeared to be the only thing heating the entire pub so the place wasn't particularly warm. But then there was only 4 of us in there, us 2, another customer and the landlady who was friendly and chatty. The pub that time forgot would best describe the overall state of the place. Shame, missed opportunities.

A beautiful friendly country pub that serves a great beer, the local ale called legend is a nice cool pale ale that leaves a great taste in your mouth, the Guinness is excellent, last time a tasted a Guinness that good, was when I visited Ireland, smooth with the lovely malt taste, most Guinness I have had tastes very watered down, the locals are also very friendly, I do recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Thursday menu, only £6.00, great selection of wholesome home cooked food. Landlords are lovely and very friendly and the locals are tame. We'll worth a visit, we will definitely be back. 😀

The most beautiful true English pub you could go to. The owner has a sense of humour which is riotious. You can order pub food which is to die for. And that walnut tree has a story too.

There were a few locals at the bar who were also extremely welcoming and friendly. Would definitely return and next time get there earlier to spend more time talking to the locals.

A friendly but dated pub, needing a bit of a clean. Toilettes poorly looked after, no soap, bit dirty. Otherwise a good pub, with some real ales and a nice location and friendly keepers. We dont go there often and noted nuts put out for the regulars but nothing for us passers through!

Very impressed, we were found a table on a busy night even though we hadn't booked. The staff were extremely attentive and made us feel welcome. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. All in all a good experience

We looked on Tripadvisor when travelling nearby and did a quick detour for lunch and are so glad we did! We (humans and a dog!) received a very warm welcome. I had the rainbow trout and I can honestly say it was the nicest meal I’ve had in a long time, my husband also very much enjoyed his steak pie. It made his day when he realised the fruit crumble was rhubarb as that’s always been his absolute fave! If in the area again we would definitely return!

We booked here as a Birthday Meal and pre warned when booking that in the party we had a Gluten Free Allergy requirement. When booking in at the Restaurant we asked for a Gluten Free Menu. Our order was taken and within the 5 for £20 starters requested 2 lots of GF Garlic Bread. When the starters came out all were on one platter and not separated and after a couple of minutes waiting requested plates to be able to eat/share the food and at this point was told 'by the way the Garlic Bread is not Gluten Free, we didn't have any'. Thankfully my son had not started to eat!!! We then asked for the Food to be taken away and was brought back 10 minutes later as 2 no Gluten Free Buns toasted with Garlic Butter. The main meal of a Burger and Chips came out with the same bun, which was not eaten as already had enough...... Safe to say the 10% added service fee we took off. Very disappointed.

Visited here for our customary “breakfast Friday” Came here 7 years ago when Pork Pie Sam Aldridge failed the Belly Gut Buster!!! I won’t lie! On that occasion the portion was big but the quality was poor. However this time, I can honestly say it’s one of the best breakfast we’ve ever had!!!! Everything was bang on and we were extremely happy with the offering. Had same great food ( fried bread was on point ) the staff were great and and we were full up like a tin can of crackers after. The apprentice Harvey was so impressed he tried to eat his fingers. And Bald Les took a shine to the lady behind the Eastern European Grol working the till All in All we had a great time, and next time we need a breakfast, some oil, and a hub cap we will be sure to pop in. Cheers and All The Best 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
