there were 20 of us and we had a superb skittles evening at the Crook and Shears and would like to thank everyone for an enjoyable time. The food was first class and served hot and decent size potions and there was not even one gripe from anyone in our group which was amazing. The chef handled a request to bring the food out early as we'd finished our skittles earlier than scheduled, the staff were very friendly and made us feel very much at ease and welcome. Already looking to plan a second visit so Huzzzzaaahhh !! well done team

My fiancée and I recently visited The Crook and Shears, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by a cosy atmosphere and friendly locals, making it feel like a true countryside gem. The highlight, without a doubt, was the food. I ordered the daily special, and the local gammon was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The pub has a warm, inviting charm, and the owners were incredibly attentive. Whether you're looking for a great meal or just a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink, this place is a must-visit! They’re even dog friendly and we saw plenty of friendly pups to say hello to. Highly recommend.

I found this lovely country pub when looking for somewhere halfway between me and a friend and booked lunch based on recent reviews, we were not disappointed. There was a warm welcome on arrival and total patience as the chatting took priority over deciding what we were eating. The lasagne was delish and the ambience just lovely. Particularly liked the emergency hygiene baskets in the ladies, such a thoughtful touch. We will be back to visit again

I’m visiting from Essex and staying with friends locally! They always take me somewhere new each time for dinner and being pescatarian the menus are often limited! We chose the crook and shears for the menu as i could choose several dishes, once there we saw what a wonderful little gem this place is, steeped in history and the owner Emma was happy to show us around and explain the history! The food was incredible, I had the smoked haddock with potato gratin and hollandaise, the wine was fab and the place had a great atmosphere! Small, characterful pub run by lovely couple. They were a bit stretched on the day we visited, with just the two of them and a few items off their small menu. However, they couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful to our group, for example by offering a puzzle for the children. With just one in the kitchen, the food was impressively tasty and all ready at the same time. We would return!
