Cold coffee. Cakes hard and although advertised as served with cream, when asked they said we had to pay. When asking which cake was which as there were no tags on them, the woman behind counter huffed Queue a mile long, won’t be back

Worst fish and chips i have ever had today 28th August '24. Chips were nearly all bits and the fish was a joke. Nearly all batter no nice flaky fish. Appalling!! Will never visit again. And to add insult paid £34.

We visited here yesterday and I have just checked my bank to see an extra payment has been taken out in addition to my payment for breakfast…. Having read reviews this has happened before so this is worrying. The breakfast was awful … cold beans, everything tasted of old frying oil and toast was burnt, the Hollandaise sauce was dreadful and eggs Benedict was just a poached egg on a muffin with no ham! Give this place a wide berth even if the location is 10/10.

We hadn’t seen the reviews prior to visiting but wish we had, then we never would have stopped off here. The battered cod was way too light in colour & undercooked & my seafood soup had too many herbs & was flavourless. Also, we know our Heinz Ketchup & it was definitely not Heinz in the branded bottle or if it was then they had used vinegar to make it go further. My girlfriend was sick back in our room & had diarrhoea which can only be attributed to her food. What a great location the property is in & it is decorated nicely. Just a shame the food is not worth it at all. I did mention to a number of local businesses about our experience & they all said the same thing. “Walkers of Padstow’ yuk, don’t go there” Shame on you Walkers.

Worst experience of my life! I ordered a vege burger and was given a fish burger. This might not sound much to some people but being a vegetarian that hasn’t eaten fish for 40 years, this was horrendous. This is extremely dangerous to people with allergies.

I recently visited Walkers Fish and Chips in Padstow with my family of six—four adults and two children—and it was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Two members of our party are vegetarians, so they ordered veggie burgers. Shockingly, one of them was served a fish burger instead. As you can imagine, this was a horrifying mistake. She realised the error only after taking a bite and had to spit it out immediately. We were appalled. When we brought this serious issue to the attention of the staff, their response was nothing short of disgraceful. They seemed completely disinterested and even rolled their eyes at our complaint. We tried to explain the gravity of the situation—how dangerous it could be for people with allergies or strict dietary restrictions—but the staff couldn’t care less. The lack of concern for customer safety and the sheer indifference shown by the staff is absolutely unacceptable. To top it off, the place is ridiculously overpriced for the subpar food and atrocious service they offer. This vile establishment should be avoided at all costs. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Walkers Fish and Chips in Padstow. We certainly won’t be returning.

Great portion sizes. Food was quick and was served hot. Tables weren’t clean when we came in, but the staff were quick to sort this once we’d sat down. So busy but everything was fast.

I came here with one of my friends and I gave this place one last chance before I won’t be returning. I had some chips which were EXTREMELY overpriced. I sat down to a dirty table and grumpy staff! I could see that the staff were sweating and wiping it with their hands and then touching stuff which was discusting! What a let down.

Visited whilst on holiday, stumbled across this place and thought it looked busy, nice views and must be OK. It was not good. The fish had lots of firm bits around the edges, a bit chewy in places, chips very soggy and greasy, not particularly tasty. Such a shame.

Awful. One of the worst places in Padstow! We were served a cold coffee and when we complained the lady serving complained and was grumpy making a new one. She slammed the milkshakes down for the children and kept glaring at us at our table. Poor staff. Poor drinks. Poor place to go. We will not return.

Waited 10 minutes for cod to be cooked, fair enough. That's not unreasonable. Walked to find somewhere to sit and eat it. It was the worst fish I have had in my entire life! No nice white flakes, just yucky yellow , not even sure how to describe it. If you can't get a decent piece of fish in Padstow then where can you! I returned it to be offered replacement or refund. I obviously took the refund!

Batter on cod was uncooked on the inside and tasted like flour. Just all wet and soggy.When I complained, I was told the batter is like that as the fish is wet!!! Cod had no flavour. Chips were insipid.

Awful !! We went in as a family we normally Go to chips ahoy we all had fish and chips they were so bad ! the chips were Luke warm and had black bits in the fish came out looking anaemic and was so heavy and greasy even the fish itself was tasteless come on surely you could do better than this ! Yes we did get a refund for one of the fish and chips as my husband couldn’t touch it

First are hit with the terrible service, then with the bad quality food, then with the regret that you haven't researched the reviews before coming here.

Most definitely the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Chips were very small and gave me the impression they were from the bottom of the freezer bag. So many bits and no chip over 2 inches long. Fish was very wet and batter just awful and tasteless. This is also a cashless venue. Tut tut. Rick Stein dominates many venues in the town, Walkers of Padstow, he will continue to do so if you continue to fry up this awful excuse for fish and chips. Curry sauce was nice though.

very rude staff, they messed up my order themnwent on to blame me as they were busy. and a should be understanding after waiting more than 45 , minutes im a local and will never step foot in these premises ever again. i have reciepts on refund to show i was here

Avoid.... Girl at counter was the most rudest person I've ever encountered. Place is filthy. Leak in roof, no warning sign so of course I slipped.. No one asks if you're ok, if they did I would have asked for a refund for the driest, over priced food I've ever tasted. Very disappointed

Absolutely awful dry fish and chips. Came especially for them in Padstow, expecting really good fish, however the whole experience was just horrible. The cutlery tray was full of spilt mayonaise 🤢. Expensive, chaotic, awful. Save your money. Rick Stein has nothing to worry about!

Dreadful ! Cream tea for nearly £7 consisted of a small stale supermarket budget scone and a tiny prepacked jam and cream. When I complained the scone was stale the attitude of the staff member was rude and disinterested. For £7 I expect a fresh bakery scone and plenty of cream and jam - this place is a joke. Self service cheap canteen style. Dirty cramped tables , rude staff, terrible food, and high prices . I would rather starve than use this place again.

Local family, twice in the last month I've been in and both times spoken to like I was from Mars. I feel maybe some guidance given about customer service is in order.

Reading the reviews must be very hit and miss but we must have been lucky and arrived on a good day. Chips were great, huge portion of scampi. No real complains

Disappointed, paid £50 four our food then checked bank statement to realise we had also paid £24.25 for someone else's food.

We live locally and use walkers in Truro. So went into the Padstow shop. We Went into order a Sausage in batter and a plain sausage. Took it away to eat. Plain sausage was basically cremated. And worse the battered sausage was actually a small fish piece - bite in soggy batter that was that soft u actually couldn’t eat it.

We ate here because we couldn't get in anywhere else. We sat at Sticky, dirty tables, ordered over priced fish and chips which were full of greece. The chios were more like scraps Makes you feel bad, when you have wasted money likes this

Very enjoyable take away. Perfect non greasy chips, served by very personable young man. Enjoyed by all, no waste, now that is the sign of a good chippy. Well done !

Be very careful here ❗️ If you’re expecting beautiful fresh fish you’ll be utterly disappointed, the only taste left in your mouth will be a sour one & your wallet will feel a lot lighter for the overall awful experience! It’s centre stage in Padstow & therefore lots of people stop to eat here, however, it is insanely expensive & we’ve had nicer fish & chips in the Midlands were the fish has travelled & is not ‘fresh’ by seaside/ harbour standards. The cod was laughable, it was so thin as though it had been sliced like smoked salmon & covered in the thickest batter to conceal this. Perhaps this is so they can get as many portions as possible & charge unsuspecting customers ridiculous prices. Do not go expecting fresh, thick, flaky cod because you won’t find it here! The chips were undercooked & therefore looked as pale & bland as they tasted. They charge £2.50 for a small cartoon of kids juice which is just a complete ripoff. This was by far the worst place we ate during our entire stay in Cornwall. Avoid like the plague!! There are plenty of other places in Padstow to eat where I’m sure you’ll get a great meal which is value for money…this place is NOT it!!

By far the best chip shop we had found in Padstow after trying a few our in the duration that we were on holiday for. Unfortunately one of the days me and my partner had a fish cake and it was like it had been left out for ages which let it down a bit. You can salt & vinegar your own chips which we found better as you can do it as you like and for the area the price is very reasonable.

10 30 am visit for a brunch. Floor slippery, tables dirty and sticky. Food overcooked. Generally not a good experience.

Ordered food at kiosk - whilst waiting I said I would go and sit at table and chairs just outside whilst partner waited for food. Staff member made no comment. Within 2minutes of us sitting down he came out and informed us we couldn't sit down as the tables were reserved for their restaurant customers. The restaurant was virtually empty ( at least 10 empty tables and all the outside tables and chairs were vacant) Despite trying to reason with staff member he insisted we had to move on. It soon became clear why the place was deserted- chips luke warm , soggy and greasy. Chicken goujons also lukewarm and tasted like they were cooked hours ago.

Great location but that is about it! Had a fish and chips lunch for 4 with 2 wines and 2 soft drinks for £73! The fish was poor quality and the soggy batter way undercooked. Chips were nice though. Save your money and go and get a Rick Stein takeaway and sit on their benches out front. Night and day different. Staff way friendlier too. Would not eat here again.

Extremely disappointing. We ordered two Haddock, Chips and Peas. The batter on both was undercooked, and raw inside. We sent both meals back and a few minutes later received two more fish with undercooked batter. We ate the fish, and some of the chips which were poor quality. What an expensive mistake, give it a miss!!!

Joined the short queue to order a latte and tea cake. Wished I hadn’t after a silly amount of time waiting with no movement in the queue! Staff were pleasant but appear massively disorganised. Was eventually handed a basic latte ( just out of a machine - not properly made) and sat down waiting for my tea cake. It didn’t take too long to arrive but was only luke warm and they couldn’t even be bothered to butter it! I wouldn’t go back!

Never again. Staff uninterested. Told one customer after being called 3 times " I'm listening to the news". Food arrived & I was appalled. Our bill for 1 plaice & chips 1 small cod &chips, Bread & butter & tea for 2 was £40. My small fish was an insult. One fish finger would have had more meat. I showed it to a member of staff and he said, that's what we give kids. There is no other option. Thats shameful. Won't be going again, neither will the rest of my family.

Give this place a wide berth. Very over priced and poor quality. We ordered a prawn sandwich but got a bread roll with three prawns in it and, I mean three! For the price of eleven pounds we were taken for a ride... Please do not be caught like we were. If I could give zero stars I would.

Awful fish n chips,tasteless, hardly any fish on the supposedly cod, flat and full of grease,scampi cheap rubbish,chips were quite frankly scraps, not many passable to eat, to top it off cutlery wasn't clean, I ate here as people pleasing another in hast lessons learned.

Dirty tables, food was awful, sausage was cold and cheap. Very poor food for the price. The guy preparing food had no gloves or hair covering on his long hair. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

A fair amount of choice including a veggie burger suitable for vegans. The server also explained chips unsuitable for vegans as cooked in same oil as the fish. Quick service considering how busy they were on a sunny day. Chips slightly undercooked but the food was tasty.

Dreadful service and lousy takeawayfish and chips.

The service was fast but a little unfriendly. The haddock was the best of the three fishes we got: haddock, cod and plaice. The plaice was obviously fresh and soft but was lacking in flavour. The chips were not that crispy but overall a good effort

Dreadful experience, one fish and chips went back because overcooked the second piece came out soggy and covered in grease. Chips are full of black bits. My fish wash ok the only good thing about the place...give this place a wide berth ripping off holiday makers.

Extremely over priced on some items. we bought a baby breakfast and a cornish breakfast and 2 cappuccinos which came to £21 odd which we thought was fine. But it didn't come with toast so we went back up we was told they only sell toast in portions and a poriton was 2 slices. My husband asked for 2 portions and a few sachets of sauce. . £6.90 we was charged for 4 slices of basic toast and 2 sachets of sauce its absolutely disgusting!! The bread used was basic bread which probably cost £1 for the loaf it wasn't a home cooked loaf or anything extravigant to try and warrant the price. Will not be returning.

Got here early,had big breakfast,sat in, staff fine breakfast most cleanest ive had lush, no probs at all.4.5 star for me.Will be coming again .😎

Good location, with nice views. The fish and chips were tasty and the portion sizes good. Was the busiest eating place in Padstow, when we visited the town last week.

Being a chef at another local restaurant very disappointed with our experience here. It’s a FISH and CHIPS restaurant so not many complex elements to get right! Fish tasted good but small portions but the chips stone cold and looked like they had been sat around for ages.

The fish was greasy and the chips were overdone and hard, Very expensive for mediocre food. Will never visit again.

Went over weekend sadly all the vinegar bottles do not have tops on them and so the vinegar flies have got in the bottles

Stopped here as there was seating outside as and we had the dog with us. Clean and tidy inside and staff were polite and friendly. Good and drinks ordered was good but cans of drinks are very expensive at £2.30 each !!

Absolutely delicious fish and chips, the batter was light and the cod cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend!

Went with the family for a chippy supper takeaway and wasn’t overly impressed. Food was average at best and the service was poor, to be told were too busy to sort your stuff out by the staff wasn’t very impressive at all. Was about 10 years or more since I last stepped foot in here and no doubt will be 10 years or more before I consider trying it again.

Cycled to Padstow and stopped here with the kids for a drink, it was truly the worst cup of tea I’ve ever had, I would of been better scooping up some sea water, WITH THE TIDE OUT! The noise in the cafe with continual scraping of chairs was almost intolerable!! What a let down!!

I know there is other known fish and chip brand in padstow, but seriously these are amazing nice crunchy batter and the freshest thick fillet of fish chips are fantastic and the children’s portions are enough for a young adult and adults portions are of a very good size. Lovely friendly staff and clean restaurant... amazing!

Don't eat here ice cream had ice burn food was refrozen avoid at all costs. Stay away for your health

Wow food here is amazing... locals on a day out and I've tasted great fish and chips before but this has to be by far the best in Cornwall. Empty plates and full bellies.... staff were so nice and friendly. Cant say enough....

It’s really difficult to get fish and chips wrong and the food was decent enough but basing my review purely on attitude of staff which was abysmal. Had to wait for a fresh fish cake, fair enough, not a problem, but when I asked how long the server said ‘5 mins - could be longer’ no apology, just a ‘expect it when you see it mate’ attitude. Everything just seemed such an effort and they all look like they just don’t want to be there.

Chips small and bitty with lots of blue/ black bits in the rest, fish, luck of the draw, either small or average. Tables needed a good clean, really sticky.

Lovely cod , chips and peas. We went there last Saturday and it was lovely. We live local so wanted to give it a try. Glad we did. Cod and chips is £9.95 peas are extra. Pots of tea as well . Good service and very friendly staff. Would recommend.

A stay in Cornwall would not be complete without Fish and Chips and this did not disappoint. Good quality and good price

This is a perfectly adequate fish and chip restaurant on Padstow harbour. It doesn't compete with some of the better East coast chippies, but does at least serve half decent haddock and was open when the more illustrious resident of Padstow's wasn't on a Sunday afternoon. Fairly standard prices for the fish (extras like mushy peas were pricey though, and busy with a lot of hustle and bustle.

We had been for a walk around padstow and decided to have coffees and something to eat. The coffees were fine hence the score. The chips with my plaice were cold as was the butter that my husband was supposed to put on his bread. My sons gammon looked uncooked in places.In fact this a very disappointing experience.

Called in with my husband as he fancied a portion of chips! Miserable man behind the counter and put in our order! I think they were about to close but rather than tell us this he served us the cold soggy dregs of the chip pan! Couldn’t be bothered to challenge this and left them for the seagulls to feast on! Shame as this is a lovely town and this place has pride of location overlooking the harbour!

I was very disipointed with the expensive dried out Fish and Chips. mainly as it was lunch time and quite a few people were eating in at that time. It seemed the chips were fried then left in a container above the the frier allowing them to dry out, the fish was the same, with the batter as hard around the edges of the fish. On the other hand my wife had a ham sandwich which was freashly made with nice new bread and a little salad. The pot of tea for two was also fine. I wish I'd had a ham sandwich instead of the very poor fish and chips. Or gone to the Fish and chip shop a couple of streets back from the harbour, although it's only a take away.

Travelled from Newquay to Padstow as friends had told us how beautiful this town is. Whilst there we decided to stop for a latte and scone. The scones are on plates accompanied with clotted cream/jam but without any cling film wrapping. Just sat out getting stale. Once we’d sat at our seats I had to brush 3 hairs off the table (black/dark brown about 1 1/2 inches) Disgusting. The table had food and drink crumbs and stains so obviously hadn’t been cleaned. Our scones were stale and dry which I’m guessing was because they had been left out without any form of covering. The whole “cafe” looked dirty and unwelcoming. So sad as it’s such an incredible location. Whilst there I noticed that the chef was collecting plates at the tables wearing his very stained chefs uniform. Pitiful

Called in on a Wednesday afternoon and had the sit down fish and chips, it wasn’t busy, the sit down side of the shop is typically basic table and chairs. We both had the Cod and Chips and as the fish batter was different colours I presume he had to cook one piece of cod, the chips were I must admit very good but the batter on my piece of Cod was not cooked enough and was all soft. I know I should have complained but as I was eager and hungry to have my first Cornwall fish and chips. At £8-45 a portion I was disappointed.

Superb chip shop with quick, efficient and friendly staff. This is a proper chip cafe and it is highly recommended.

Stopped here for a quick lunch. Food was really nice, staff very friendly. It's a little no frills as it's just a standard chip shop really but well located and ok for a quick bite to eat.

Absolutely lovely cafe with great service, very welcoming friendly staff with a great helping hand not to mention the great food!! Definitely one to visit great for any occasion! The guy with the tattoos is the best!!

We are here on our way home from St. Ives and thoroughly enjoyed our fish & chips. The batter was nice and light and chips were really tasty. Loved Padstow and loved the food.

The food is perfect. The chips are delicious and chunky, the fish melts in your mouth and the burgers are like heaven. I strongly recommend coming here for some lunch or dinner if you happened to be in Cornwall.

We had a takeaway fish and chios, which we are in the rain on the harbour, and they were DELICIOUS! We had a few lots of f&c; on our Cornwall holiday and these were pretty much the best! And, SO much better priced than Stein!

I ordered 2 cod and chips and extras @ £15, for the 3rd time in a week (previous orders in excess of £30). One of the pieces of ''cod'' was river cobbler or similar - grey and mushy! I returned it and it took 6 staff to line up and each tell me it was cod - it wasn't - but what happened to customer service? They were thoroughly unpleasant to the point of intimidating - lining up and arguing with me that it was cod as if the more people that told me the more believable it would be - with one particularly unpleasant local worker sticking her chin in my face and saying that ''we'd have to agree to differ'' because it was beyond the realms on possibility to her - seeing the fish only in battered stage - that they could have confused battered fish on the left and right. One lady asked me why I had eaten more than one bite of it before I realised but there were 2 of us sharing so it took half of the small fish to realise This is all over a £5 piece of fish. Only the pleasant chef had the sense to just say ''cook her another one '' (which I then fed to the seagulls as I was to stressed to eat)

Had fish and chips here twice during our stay in Padstow. Firstly on the day we arrived as we had used this place in the past on previous visits. The service is friendly and very quick. you order at the till and the food is brought to your table. The tables can sometimes still have the previous occupants left overs on them but the staff were clearing them as quickly as they could, also chairs are left by customers all over the place and it looks a bit messy. The floor on this occasion could of done with a sweep and a clean and my biggest gripe is as I was leaving I noticed a table had a DOG in the restaurant ( does health and safety allow this) I guess they do as on my second visit another customer was just leaving with a DOG too. The fish on the first visit was really good but the chips were either perfect or loads of little hard ones, I left over half of mine (the little ones) and the mushy peas are good too. My wife and son said the curry sauce is amazing better than the one from Rick Steins ( I disagree with them on this one). On the second visit the chips were really good but the batter on my fish was not cooked properly it was crispy on the outside bit white and mushy on the inside, so I did not eat the batter just the fish. This place has a vast number of customers each day, is constantly busy, the staff are friendly and do their best to clear tables, it is what it is fish and chips mushy peas , curry sauce and al the things a good chippy serves. My only real disappointment is that DOGS are allowed in the restaurant, I love DOGS but I do not want to share the room I am eating in with them.

Took a chippy lunch here( said Padstow fish n chip café on sign) as was an excellent location next to the harbour. Was very busy but food order was quite quick. Not the hottest food but was very tasty and we enjoyed the burger and scampi with fries. Portions were large and for Padstow not overpriced. Downside was dinning area looked tired and could have done with a clean but seemed to be short of staff this day. All in all a good lunch so give it a try.

Had sandwiches and drinks here for lunch. Service was good. It's a bit rough round the edges but great for seafront cheap and quick eatery. Would recommend.

Called in for an early tea... My wife had a sea food salad which looked great. I had fish and chips and while the chips were ok, I found the fish greasy. The staff were helpful and polite.

Don't have the fish burger - tiny piece of fish which is more batter than fish. Really not worth £8.45. Chips were very pale. Tea served in a chipped mug. Beef burger was better. Scampi ok but at £9.95 expensive. Overall not a great experience

Fish was nice and fresh as was the scampi, chips could have been a little more golden brown for me, but tasty all the same.

Would have thought fish and chips in Padstow would have been lovely but this was the worst fish and chips we have ever had. The batter was so greasy and the chips hard and the whole meal tasted of absolutely nothing but oil. My daughter had the burger and chips which didn't fare any better. We ordered fish and chips, they forgot our order after waiting 15 mins we asked if that was our fish he said no we forgot and laughed as he said I can put it in for you now. Not sure why he found this funny ?
