Waldo's Fish and Chips in East Lindsey

Had their Haddock, chips and peas lunchtime special x2. The chips were lovely, the peas those bright green ones, not the cheap grey ones, and the batter on the haddock was light, crisp, golden and not full of oil.

Brilliant fish n chips and staff very friendly,we travel from Stafford and this is always the first stop we make on are way to chapel st Leonard's,then use the chippy more during the week

Called in this evening during the light parade and was very disappointed. We managed to get a table outside, so they were not super busy at that stage. However we waited as staff were preparing existing orders- no hello. In fact no acknowledgement at all! Eventually someone took our order and deliver was speedy. However the fish was not very fleshy at all although the batter was very good. Chips too. A disappointing and average experience.

Ordered tonight and absolutely shocking. Don’t be fooled by the good reviews, they are either fake or the customers are used to eating shit food. Chips cooked in manky oil and hard!

We popped in to pick up 2 cod n chips on Tuesday afternoon to take back to our motorhome. Cooked fresh to order, and packed in stylish cardboard boxes they were still hot and reasonably crisp 15 mins later. We were given good sized portions and both of us finished everything declaring them to be the best fish n chips that we had eaten for years. Well done to the staff, keep up the excellent work.

Nice chips in Mablethorpe and sutton

Stopped off here for fish and chips when at Sutton on sea for a casual walk on the promenade. Could sit at a table to eat outside. Friendly service and food was unbelievably fresh, hot and tasty. Our benchmark use to be Whitby fish and chips but we've just found a new benchmark!

After walking from mablethorpe to Huttoft beach on way back to mablethorpe I decided to pop in for a bit to eat order 2 cod and chips and it's was gorgeous made to order too and non greasy

Went for the lunch special at £6.45 and was probably better off just ordering a regular haddock/chips as the size of the piece of fish and portion of chips was a bit of a let down. Wow, we stumbled across Waldos after a trip to the coast with the dogs, and we’re so pleased we did. I’d say it’s the best fish & chips I’ve ever had! I got the special which is a small fish and chips with peas, but I swapped my peas to curry sauce. My partner had a large fish and chips with beans. The fish was cooked to perfection, crisp, light batter, with lush flaky fish. Chips were spot on too, and the portions were amazing. I’d highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back in the future.

We popped into Waldo's on Friday, and what a delightful experience it was! The staff were lovely, and the service was incredibly quick. It's fantastic value for money, with fresh fish just as you’d hope for at the seaside. We had both small and large portions of fish and chips with gravy – and peas with the large. Everything was delicious – proper chips, a light and crispy batter, and tasty peas and gravy. We sat outside on the benches with the locals, enjoying our food and a friendly chat. The prices were very reasonable too. Before visiting, we strolled around the town, and everyone recommended Waldo’s. They weren’t wrong! If you’re in Sutton-on-Sea, you simply must have fish and chips at the seaside. Visit Waldo's with confidence – you won’t be disappointed!

Whilst the fish and chips were nice enough (the fish was fresh but chips not very warm) the staff were unhelpful and unfriendly especially the lady serving. We could hear and see them talking about us whilst we waited outside for our order which is not only rude but unprofessional. We won't return to be treated like that.

There are two fish n chip shops in the town I've tried both. I find this one to be the best one.

The BEST in the area. We come here every year on our annual summer caravan holiday at Sutton on Sea and always have to fit in a few Waldo's! Friendly staff. Great service. The fish and chips were excellent, the batter thin and crispy. We had a pot of tea with hot water to top up tea pot so got 2 cups each. Lovely lady served us and we managed to get a table outside to sit at. Very good value for money would recommend to anyone

Stopped here before the circus and what can I say. Amazing value. Their special was less than £7 for a mini fish and chips with mushy peas. Lovely staff and service and the food was absolutely delicious. Not had fish and chips this good in years! A must visit if visiting the area. 10/10!!!

£6.75 for fish and chips lunch special. Chips and mushy peas were nice but it's the smallest fish I have ever seen. After taking all the batter off to find my fish I was amazed to find a piece of fish that would fit in a table spoon. Two bites and it was gone what a joke. So sad conning people like this and my partners was the same so not a one off mistake. Wish I paid 1.25 more down the road and got a full sized cod. Really should be ashamed.

Best Haddock and chips I have had in many years. Good sized fish in crispy light batter, chips truly superb, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Mushy peas were superb also. Very pleasant service and everything was cooked in front of us. Cannot fault this place at all.

One of the best, if not the best, fish and chips on the Lincolnshire coast. There used to be a restaurant but, sadly, the pandemic ended that. It's succulent fish and chips are now takeaway only although there are some outside tables under a verandah. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is fish and chips at it's best. Visited again on15/8/24 and still excellent. Very popular too!

Drove 30 minutes from Skegness to get fish and chips from Waldo's after reading the excellent reviews, me and the wife wasn't disappointed. Some of the best Cod and Chips we've ever had while at a seaside town, the piece of fish was massive and the chips were cooked to perfection and all at a reasonable price too (£23 including curry sauce and a bottle of coke and a Jumbo Sausage). Also the curry sauce was like what my wife calls Northern Style Curry Sauce from when she lived in Halifax as a youngster and she loved it. I would also like to mention the Jumbo Sausage that was kindly cooled down in a tray of water for my dog to enjoy by one of the happiest and couldn't do enough for their customer's assistants that work there. I would definitely return if I go back to Skegness and recommend the drive to this Chippy if you want exceptional Fish and Chips for your dinner. They also have tables outside if you want to eat straight away. Thank you to all the staff there you are a credit to the owners.

Went to Waldo's for the first time on 25/6 for a takeaway for Cod and chips and haddock and chips and mushy peas which were all really good so went back 27/6 for more of the same. Nice hot food and the staff really go above and beyond, they were very busy but it was not a long wait. If we were in the area again we would go straight back.

Best fish we have had in a very longtime. Would highly recommend it only complaint is there was too much to. A lovely piece of fish and the chips were proper fish shop chip were proper chip shop chips so tasty.

We read the reviews and thought we were in to a winner. We both had cod, hips and peas. The fish was ok, but the chips were awful, I gave mine to the crows. Not cheap and def not worth it.

Absolutely disgusting cod and chips waste of £9.50 I’m an observant person and noted on entering the content of overhead heated cabinet contents made my order and waited 15 minutes saw numerous fresh cooked fish given to other’s customers in queue others in the queue were served fresh cooked food when my turn came I was given a cod that had been in the cabinet the whole time I’d waited. once home and sat to eat, it was bone dry and as chewy as a rare steak the chips were dry and hard to swallow been going here for three years and more and the pricing and quality has gone downhill since Covid sadly this is my last visit definitely will not use again sooner go hungry than waste money on rubbish

Went into Sutton on Sea today so made a beeline to Waldo's, both had fish and chips and curry sauce. Good size portions and beautiful white fish, batter is so light and crispy. Definitely recommend.

Had take away, ate back at Sutton Caravan & Motorhome Campsite. Amazing cod and chips. Proper big piece of fish. Mushy peas were tasty and a decent size portion. Curry sauce was tasty if a little runny for my liking. Saw a black pudding fritter on the menu and couldn't resist- cheeky starter, and very tasty it was too. Really friendly staff. Fantastic food. And to top it all off, really good value for money. Recommended and would definitely use again next time we stop in Sutton.

Visited here like always when in Sutton on Sea. I had ordered fish and chips not realising if I wanted a cod I needed to specify this. By no fault of the staff at Waldos I had Haddock. When I called to question they were more than obliging and gave me the meal again free of charge but this time cod. Great food and lovely people!

Think you should review your home page and remove all the old menus, bit confusing with at least three different prices.

Lovely crispy light batter. Chips cooked properly. Good mushy peas and curry sauce. Nice to be able to get cod roe. Small haddock and chips plus mushy peas or curry sauce £5.95 plus £1.50 for cod roe. £14.90 for two. Good value. Plenty for us but if you're really hungry they do a bigger portion. Nice people too. Recommended if you're in the area. We would definitely return.

After a long, very cold, walk on the lovely beach, we popped into Waldo's for fish and chips. Unwrapped, taken away and eaten outdoors, the way they are best enjoyed imho. The food was fresh, made to order while we waited, and tasted great. Probably up there with the best I've ever had. Well done Waldo's for keeping up a great British tradition. Until next time :)

Checked the website and showed the chip shop was open until 19.00 so we travelled there only to find that it was closed!!! Luckily the Dolphin chip shop was open that is just further down the road which we found the food to be great and will be using this from now on. If you are closed then try updating your website so that people visiting won’t be disappointed!

I'm new to the area and have visited twice, both times the fish and chips have been freshly cooked, the fish was still crispy and hot after I drove home, great that they were served in a box, staff really polite friendly and helpful, I asked what an item was in the warmer I was told they were the lunch of the lady serving! They were filled potato skins and she offered me one to try! How friendly is that, it made my day after a hard day of decorating! Above and beyond well done!

Amazing , I was sent on a transfer with the ambulance service over to the coast. Needless to say while at the seaside you have obligatory fish and chips. Probably the best fish and chips around and definitely will be returning 🤤 Amazing value for money and worth every bit Thankyou

Not cheap, but possibly the best fish & chips in the area. Be advised: take your own condiments to avoid being charged for Waldo's sachets.

With very good reviews this was to be our last take away lunch before our trip home, busy so a good sign, But very disappointed, more batter then fish, it was gray and dry with a hard edge one side ? All Three portion's were the same. Majority of our chips we 4cm and hard. If we had been eating In, they would have all been returned. A few pence short of £20. Definitely not value for money and the chap in front of us was chastised for paying buy card because they get charged for It.

When you see a long queue, you think, the fish and chips must be good. We queued excitedly for over 20 minutes but unfortunately could not say, it was the best! The batter was hard and not a lot of fish inside.

Nipped to sutton on sea from skegness lived here 23 years had alot of fish and chips in that time..but this was the best fish and chips iv ever had! Amazing i also cook for a living so im hard to please sometimes! Highly recommended!

THE best fish and chips at Sutton on Sea AND Mablethorpe.

This place is amazing, would highly recommend to anyone that is visiting the area. We went at about 18:30 and it was busy, with that in mind the staff were friendly and professional. Not one single person grumbled about the wait time as food is cooked to order. There was hardly any grease on the box after eating the food. The mushy peas and curry sauce were immense. Tried a mushy peas fritter and was not disappointed. Hopefully get a chance to go back before I leave Friday. Thanks for the wonderful food.

This shop was buzzing with customers, the staff were simply brilliant, very well organised and polite. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve eaten, loads better than the one we get down in Bedfordshire and served in cardboard containers. Chips, perfect. Slight crisp and fluffy inside. Haddock, incredibly fresh fish very lightly bettered and cooked to perfection. Mushy peas along with the curry sauce were good, all very hot. It’s a quick walk from the main beach but we’ll worth it. 🙏

We were in Mablethorpe for the day but decided to drive to Waldo's for fish and chips as we'd eaten there the previous year. The long queue speaks for itself. The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. The portion sizes are great value for money, will definitely be back when we're next in the area.
