I ordered a sausage bap. When it arrived I discovered that the Waitrose chef thinks that two uncut sausages between two unbuttered halves of a bap is the way to serve this British speciality. Clearly they have never eaten in a greasy spoon! The way to do it is to bitter the bread be it a slice or bap, cut the sausages down the centre and lay them on the first slice and then leave the buttered 'lid' on top. At nearly fine quid I didn't expect to have a do it myself sausage bao!

Quick friendly service. Both items brought to my table, as they weren’t busy. Delicious brioche French toast and passion fruit and coconut frappe

Ordered cheeseburger with onion rings. Onion rings cold and soggy. Bun smothered with one side tomato sauce and the other mayo. If I had known this then I would have asked them to not serve it with sauce or mayo. Went back to description on their notice board and did not state it was with either sauce or mayo. Bun left and again all soggy with mayo. Burger and bacon cold as well. Not value for money and will go elsewhere in future.

Love the cafe in Portishead but wow I was shocked today at a regular coffee costing £3.10!!! More expensive than any of the independent coffee shops and the quality of the coffee average! Use this cafe a lot as handy when shopping, needing a space for a while but was shocked at the cost of a rather small and average coffee!!

I have now been here several times for coffee and lunch. I always have a light lunch and their sandwiches are just right . The staff throughout the store are very pleasant, the cafe is always busy which must be an indication of how good it is.

Shocking lack of vegan options in the cafe. Waitrose have increased their vegan range in the supermarket, but no vegan options on the cafe menu apart from jacket potato and baked beans. They are not really moving with the times and customer preferences!

Had roast chicken pie and mash. I was disappointed with the very small amount of mash and not very much chicken in the pie. Not good value for money.

Visit the cafe most days for coffee and sometimes a cake or a hot snack. Fantastic, friendly staff and many regular visitors to chat to. More like a social club atmosphere and a great asset to Portishead.

The bacon roll was amazing and so was the sausage roll. The strawberry milk shake was one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had. Amazing

Sunday afternoon, at least five people behind the counter but nonetheless service was excruciatingly slow. Tables not cleared promptly and floor unswept. And yet again one of the ladies' toilets out of order.. Disappointing

Been twice now, seems expensive for what you get, similar to other Waitrose cafes. Yes, we realise Waitrose caters for those shoppers who do not need to look at the price of things but spare us a little side salad of lettuce, toms & cucs with the sandwiches as other supermarkets do. PS. Your coffee is sub-standard too.

This is first time I have eaten here since the upgrade. Went with two friends one had a meal and soft drink. The judt hada soft drink. I chose the fish and chips meal with coffee offer of the day. Prompt srrvice and the buzzer system of telling you your meal is ready to collect from the pass. I am hearing impaired so i could enjoy talking to friends rather than listening for number. Joy of joy all the components of the meal were hot and well flavoured. Quality sliced lemons with which enhanced the quality of the fish. The peas were flavoured with mint, very refreshing. Fish was flakey and melt in the mouth. Hot chips with a crisp finish. The coffee is machined produced rather than an espresso machine. Temperature was spot on and flavoured beautifully. So many cafes could take a leaf out of the Waitrose team and perfect coffee each time. Now my friends are moving to Portishead i can get great food /coffee every time i visit.

Only had coffee, very good, cakes looked scrumptious. The reason I am reviewing is the fantastic customer service. I had arranged to meet friends and we had mistaken the meeting place. My friends realised so rang Waitrose, an exceedingly smart young lady gave me the message, so I went on. Now that is what I call customer care. Top marks Waitrose.

Am a great Waitrose cafe fan but can no longer eat cakes there. There was a fly casually landing on all the uncovered cakes and pastries. Visited again the next day cakes looked delicious but flygate kept coming back to haunt me and my friend. Still at least it helps me lose weight. A problem so easily solved - hygiene over asthetics please.

I have visited the cafe in Waitrose quite a few times in the past. It was always a long wait for coffee etc and it all seemed very muddled. This has all changed. I visited the cafe for a cup of coffee whilst walking around the marina with a friend. The service was excellent as was the coffee. So much so we decided to come back for lunch. The choice was mouth watering not what would be expected in a supermarket cafe. We both had the seared Salmon with broccoli spears, it was delicious. I am now looking for an opportunity to return with my husband to enjoy another meal. I forgot to mention the very reasonable prices the salmon cost £7.95 Thank you for a very pleasant interlude.

the new refurbished cafe is excellent, however the revolving menu board does NOT provide you with all the food choices,ie breakfasts, filled rolls etc.The board also moves on quickly so if several of you not a lot of time to select.

We have to say that we did not experience the problems that some reviews have spoken about. We had a very good burger (hot) fresh onion rings and a good portion side salad. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is mention of the fact that the free coffee / tea option when you buy food has ended, it may be because it was abused by all those who bought one banana and had a free Cappuccino. The last time we were in prior to the café closing we sat close to 2 couples and 1 single person taking up three tables each had a banana and a free coffee.

Having never eaten at Waitrose I thought we would go to the newly refurbed cafe for a treat, what a mistake, firstly it was really difficult to choose from the revolving menu flashing from full menu to kids with not enough time to read it. After ordering we sat at the least dirty of the booths (still quite dirty) the food was was fairly prompt however my burger was cold and the onion rings tasted like they had been cooked 3 hours ago. The chips were ok however we counted a total of 14 chips. In summary it was the worst £14 I’ve ever spent.

Waitrose have completely remodelled their Cafe in Portishead. It has a fresh modern feel with traditional table seating, individual booths and a lounge area. There is a much larger and extensive menu with at least 12 main dishes available. A separate patisserie table greets you with the usual selection of delicacy’s. Service and coffee/tea are available from a much enhanced servery, speeding up what was often a bottleneck in the old Cafe. Overall a much better environment supported by the, as always, excellent staff.

I can’t understand the thinking of whoever set up this Cafe. I also can’t understand how a Waitrose Cafe can run out of rice when serving a lunchtime dish of Sweet and Sour Chicken and rice. Lots of Sweet and Sour but no rice so they could serve it????? It’s a supermarket!

Unfortunately my partner has got the measles and she’s not allowed to go anywhere near Waitrose shop so I rang up and spoke to the boss and I gave a list of items to purchase and nothing was too much trouble whatsoever I just wanted to say thank you for the service they are always accommodating every time that I’m running a bit late they always let me in so really appreciate it, As I’m away working in London and she was stranded so my friend picked up the groceries at the welcome desk so very impressed thank you very much Steve and the team.

I have never been anywhere where the service was so slow....a constant queue in a self service cafe because the staff seemed totally disorganised. The person on the till, Denise, wandered off to fetch things or take orders to other staff, or couldn't get the till to work... There were four other staff members, all wit little to do, because the orders were not being taken. We thought we had pleanty of time but we waited ages for a panini to be heated....

Today is the first day of the new Waitrose coffee rules. You can no longer get a free coffee in the cafe, instead you have to pay for the coffee and receive an offer for free (cake, soup etc) Free coffee is stil available from the DIY in store dispensers, but you need to bring your own cup. Result, the cafe is almost empty, but you can get a seat, provided you have purchased something.

Dirty tables, tables not cleared, dirty wooden chairs, dirty cups, stained tea pot and stained milk jug. Average bacon roll - Waitrose were always known for a quality experience but everything was shabby on my visit. WC with broken flush. One checkout till open. What is going on here - no wonder Lidl are doing so well.

Attached to the Waitrose shop this cafe serves hot beverages with a very good selection of cakes, pastry, sandwiches and, during the morning and lunch time, hot bacon/sausage baps and soup. The Cafe is very popular and there can often be a wait until you are served, but the staff work very hard to keep things moving along. Also during these busy times finding a table can be a challenge, but why not share and make new friends. The staff are always very pleasant and help less able customers to their tables with trays. The younger members of staff that often work on the weekends are always polite and helpful. As an almost daily visitor there i would highly recommend it.

Big smart café in, well, the corner of Waitrose. I went in for a bacon roll - big roll, lots of bacon - very impressed. We paid £20 as a couple to go to the Saturday evening sunset event. Unfortunately it was not great. We arrived at 6.30, by 7.15 still hadn’t got a drink despite asking several times. We were then told it was only cocktails, my partner is not a cocktail person and we only booked as it said we had a choice of beer wine or cocktail. Poor cocktail menu 2 with 3 choices all very similar. However we decided ok and finally got a drink. After then asking another 3 times to order food we left at 8.20, totally no organisation whatsoever! It was a shame as the singer was brilliant and location great but service totally awful. Complete waste of money!
