Someone recently wrote that staff were paid above average wages, I would like to tell her they’re paid minimum wages, and all too often they’re employed as temporary so they aren’t entitled to the annual bonus, sickness or holidays, although even the bonus has been non existent in the past two years either.

I’ve been shopping here regularly for the best part of 15 years. Sadly, in that time I have noticed a slow decline in customer service. From managers waving fingers in my face for being there near to closing time to hot chocolates made with expired milk, from meals paid for and never received to consistently foul-smelling toilets. Recently I had a particularly interesting experience with a rather ill-tempered woman at the till who I had a job working a smile out of let alone making a minimal level of conversation with. I asked for a basket after she’d put it away as I’d forgotten I needed one to take my shopping outside (much like people use trolleys for), and she exclaimed “well why didn’t you ask me that before!?” I brushed this off as it was obvious she either lacked basic customer service skills or wasn’t firing on all cylinders. As I was leaving she then said “remember to bring it back!”, to which I I replied “have a good afternoon” which she ignored. I can understand the frustration of working in retail but for the amount of money one pays here, not to mention the higher than average wages I know the staff are paid, as a loyal customer I’d expect at least a smile or two, let alone a basic level of manners when handing over my hard-earned.

25 minutes wait to order. Was told 25 minutes wait for hot food. Mine food did arrive 25 minutes later. The person i was with their food arrived 35 minutes later and it was ordered at the same time. I had finished eating. Sat in a freezing cold cafe and having to pay and wait for the privilege is appalling. Wont be back for food or shopping. Put me off Waitrose for good. I can accept and understand if this was a busy place. It wasnt. There were only 6 people in the queue in front of me. All the very best to you if you are busy. Advise to others. Book some time out in your day if you are planning to go here. Abandoned the shopping and trolly as didn't have the time to go through the checkout. I didn't expect to be in the store for 90 minutes and not get my shopping.

We visited today as we had a very nice lunch here a few years ago but sadly today wasn’t a good experience. 1. You don’t see a menu until you get to the till so you either make a rushed choice or let the queue get longer. 2. The young lady serving us appeared to be looking past us most of the time. She definitely wasn’t concentrating on the job in hand as barely a couple of minutes after I asked for a black coffee she asked if I wanted milk with it. 3. The table we sat at was wobbly, as was every table I touched on the way out. If Waitrose don’t want to maintain them then it would be useful if they could leave a stack of bar mats somewhere handy as it’s impossible to cut a ciabatta sandwich with one of the blunt knives without spilling a good amount of coffee. 4. Food was ok ish but I might have been happier with it if I’d been able to cut it in half. Overall, a disappointing visit Tip for anybody reading this - pop into town for lunch!

At lunch time no hot food was available. A measly children’s lunch bag that didn’t include a drink. 2 Tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches on display. When I asked if I could buy something from the shop floor and eat it sat at a table, I was told ‘They get funny about that’. I asked to speak to a Manager and was looked at blankly. For a kitchen that wasn’t serving any food they had 5 in chef whites in the kitchen and 4 staff on the Cafe floor. Waitrose have dramatically let their standards fall. Customer service and common courtesy have nothing to do with the pandemic or BREXIT.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of my home delivery service. I had booked my delivery slot for 9-10 am and did not receive my shopping until 10:30am. This is now the fourth time that this has happened and is quite frankly just not acceptable. When unpacking my shopping, I discovered that many of my products were not appropriately packed and then further discovered that the easy peeler oranges that I had ordered were mouldy. Not acceptable at all given the cost of my shopping that I was expected to pay.

Appalling Customer Service. As a frequent customer to this shop and more importantly, a regular avid recommendation provider, I was absolutely appalled at the quality of my visit today. I was just about to pay for my shopping in the self service checkout when a very confrontational man approached me and abruptly informed me that I couldn’t wait where I was standing. After asking for an explanation as to why, I was completely ignored and made to feel as though I had done something wrong. Given the extortionate prices of my very basic groceries and the alleged ‘high standard’ of customer service, I shall definitely not be returning and I was also surprised to find that after calling the customer service desk four times, no one was able to answer the phone. Incredibly disappointing.

Waitrose Salisbury's cafe is evidently a popular place, with a clattery, chattery, school-canteen sort of atmosphere. And cheese on toast's a top comfort food on a grey, dripping January day. Nice slice of bread with a layer of toasted Cheddar is of course called Welsh Rarebit a la Waitrose and very acceptable it was too - though at £4.25 that's a tidy mark-up on the basic ingredients. Still, you can't expect transport-caff prices in this middle-class mecca. By the way, it's time that places like this, that proclaim eco credentials, ditch the soft-plastic sauce sachets. And Waitrose Salisbury should find a good plumber to sort out the car park drains - waders would have been handy when stepping out of the car.

Shout out to the young lad running the cafe kitchen by himself today at the Waitrose Newbury. Traditional English Breakfast with extra Potato Rosti was cooked superbly. Understood you were a bit under pressure first thing today but great cooking. We decided to have breakfast here to avoid the one at the B&B we stayed at. My wife was very happy you did a proper poached egg compared to the overcooked / obliterated one she was served yesterday at the B&B!

Over the last few months I have visited the restaurant, the food quality is poor and sometimes over powering in too much yuck flavour For example The Augus beef burgers had a terrible texture and tasted awful Today The chicken pesto toasted sandwich had no chicken texture and the pesto sauce had zero fresh basil or roast pine nuts in its construction. Honestly to make a fresh pesto you need just garlic, basil leaves, roast pine nuts, Parmesan cheese and good olive oil. So easy. But what I hate in any restaurant or inn is terrible toilets The Waitrose mens are the worst smelling ones in the whole of Wiltshire. You walk in and you hardly want to breathe. In 2022 I would be a shamed if I was the manager here.

Used to be my favourite shop but now frequently find shelves empty so cannot buy or have a choice in buying basics - eggs, potatoes, broccoli.....Cafe was much better when available meals were on hot plates on the counter - now even ordering a soup is a nightmare - have to ask what flavour is available, possibly order it, then sit down and watch for staff who will be looking for your number.....Ability to have a free coffee if sthg else was bought has gone - now the deal is buy a coffee at full price and have the option of buying a reduced price cake - should Waitrose be encouraging people to buy sweet things?! And tough if you are gluten intolerant! Food on offer boring - used to offer reasonably priced curries of an evening and roasts......Money wasted on rebranding without engaging the ‘partners’ who generally think the new name badges are cheap looking.....No proper response to issues I raised in my letter of complaint.

I have been to this bar a few times and the service and food is excellent and the small plate with a glass of wine for £7 is a great deal. However, in spite of a few requests and an email some time ago, they don't serve sherry! Surely the whole point of a Spanish tapas bar is to have Spanish drinks to go with the food? A Manzanilla, which is located about 10 feet away on the wine shelves, would go beautifully with the tapas. The staff say that it is very hard to change things at management level. Is it, really? Waitrose has often won Best Supermarket awards, quite rightly! Their standards are exceptional in every area. Dining in a supermarket may not spring to mind. Buying excellent food, quality household products, gifts, books, children's clothing does. Waitrose has an excellent bakery area selling excellent food to take away or to sit and enjoy at their indoor and outdoor tables. If you want something more substantial there is a larger restaurant at the bottom of the store . However, if you desire a better experience, one hidden away behind their large wine area, I urge you to try this. From the specially designed, modern counter, take the weight off your feet, sit back and take time to choose from the extensive list of deli or tapas items, Served on black slate with freshly made breads, it is hard to believe this is supermarket. The area is stylish and when the food arrives you will think you are in an upmarket restaurant , yet at affordable prices. To add to the whole experience go one better by choosing one of the delicious Champagnes or wines and forget the shopping! Go on, you deserve it!

It was alright but don't think id bother eating there again. we had 2 breakfasts with a tea and coffee and it came to £18.50. For what we had I don't think it was worth it at all - especially nowadays people are always looking for value for money I don't think that was value at all. Bearing in mind for £18.00 you could get an all you can eat and drink breakfast for 2 at table table/harvester etc. The food was okay, not the best the hashbrowns I felt weren't cooked properly and the bacon was all fat and not much meat. Nothing particularly bad about it I just don't think it was great value,

This is a brilliant clean supermarket in a convenient part of town with good car parking. Most the staff are friendly but some of the young girls on the tills need to speed up a bit as do the evening restaurant girls. The food menu is limited. The one complaint we have is why they offer free coffee to customers. People walk around drinking coffee and then some of them leave the cups on the shelves. Others get a coffee and take it to their cars and just drop the cups in the car park. Why do people need to walk around with what they think is a free drink? Don't they realise they are paying for it indirectly. Waitrose should review their policy on this.

Store front cafe didn't do much bar hot beverages and limited food - but the main restaurant at the back of the shop does all the heavy lifting. Best to go there. First time back since shop refit.2 full breakfasts with toast served in poncey bowl plates which squashed food on top of each other with no room for toast (for those that prefer their breakfast that way). Hiding food under eggs is not the best way to present food - even if it does keep things warmer. Quality was OK.Bit chilly in some areas of the restaurant and had to move due to excessive airflow. You could also choose the 'wine bar' for a champagne option if your shopping experience wasn't fulfilling enough...

Husband and I stopped off for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime and were completely taken aback by the shocking service here! There were two extremely flustered young girls behind the cafe counter clearly struggling to cope. There were two filled rolls on offer and that was it! My husband asked for a sausage roll......The girl pulled out a multi pack of value sausage rolls from a fridge (selling them individually for £1.60!!!!!!!) and told my husband that it's the last one and it's sold!!!!!! Coffee wasn't the best and neither was my cheese roll! Wow Waitrose, for the prices you charge I think you ought to review your cafe at Salisbury. Definitely will not be returning.

What a surprise - a glistening well laid out shop - but wait - there is more! Tucked away in one corner is a well laid out wine bar. Staff are knowledgeable - the selection large- and the atmosphere wonderful. Who would have thought?

We have a Waitrose restaurant near home and are regulars there meeting friends for our coffee, cake and newspaper.Today after a trip to Salisbury we gave this one a go.Some people on this site say the entrance and queue is like a Mc Ds! Well it is in that you wait in line for the tills which were all staffed, unlike Mc Ds, behind them are screens with the menus and showing lovely images on. But here the comparison with Mc Ds stops. The colleagues all know their stuff, it was quick to order, loads of room to sit at clean tables which are constantly being cleared. All the colleagues there are clean, presentable, don't grunt and do a good job.The food was very good, we both fancied the burger but could of have anything from a toasty to a Thai curry. It was delivered quickly and presented superbly, photos to follow. We had a tomato relish which I don't go much on normally but I had a little taste and loved it so much I got a spoon and finished the lot!The mayonnaise that comes with it was out of this world and complemented the lovely chips that were grease free very well, so much that I could wait for a chap to come and service the tables I went to the hatch, spoke to a chap sat down in what looked like and office and he filled the dishes back up.I could not believe it, he squirted their own brand 'everyday' in the dish, it is so delicious we had to buy some on the way out.The burgers were both cooked to absolute perfection, I would recommend the extra cheese and bacon. The meal was less than the local pubs and way, way, above the standard, well done Mr Waitrose and team.Give the place a go, top tip park at the restaurant end and come in the doors there and you don't have to be dragged around the whole shop 'looking' at things, you can get in and eat.

Это кафе находится при одноименном супермаркете Waitrose. Здесь приятно выпить чашечку кофе и съесть десерт или заказать английский завтрак, если вы не успели дома позавтракать. В этом кафе самообслуживание и необходимо убирать за собою посуду.

There are at least six branches of Waitrose that are nearer to our home than this one. But they are a fraction the size and most don't have a cafe, so we do a lovely country drive to Salisbury, have breakfast and then shop in the spacious store. The Colonel has his customary bacon butty, followed by a chocolate torsade (if available) and I usually opt for a croissant. We both have coffee, which has always been excellent. The staff are friendly and obliging and the surroundings pleasant The only (very minor) niggle is the variable quality of the bacon and the fact that they don't always have torsades or plain croissants.

My husband and I meet here after work once a week to save cooking. The new-look café is bigger than its predecessor and has a nice mix of dining tables, chairs and sofas. The food is good and reasonably priced: we have had excellent ciabattas, lasagne, chicken and fish pie, although the brie tart was quite dry.The staff are always friendly and obliging and while service can be slow at the counter if there is a queue, the food is delivered quickly. However, what lets the place down is the air conditioning and the cleanliness.By trial and error we have found two areas where one can eat without being permanently cold and we are disappointed if these are already occupied when we arrive!By 6pm the floor is pretty messy: I am sure that in the morning it is clean, but after all the school children have been in, it needs a thorough clean. One has to look under the tables before choosing where to sit: I imagine it is felt that it would disturb the customers if the floor is cleaned several times during the day.It is a shame, as it detracts from an otherwise good experience.

My wife and daughter and myself tried the new winebar/tapas/deli bar in the revamped Salisbury Waitrose last Sunday. The choice of platters with a glass of wine for £7.95 we thought was very good value and quite a change from the normal visit to a supermarket. Sitting on high stools chatting to the cheerful barman whilst he was preparing the food we found quite relaxing, the food platters are supplied in two sizes for different appetites. We think the Salisbury branch is superior to the Bath branch and with flat and easy parking a great advantage to local people. We were told that there are only three instore wine bars in Canary Wharf, Chester and now Salisbury. Good addition to the shopping experience well done Waitrose. One tiny niggle, all a bit chilly on a cold winters day as it situated in the corner of the store not too far away from the cold shelves.

I am thrilled with the revamped Salisbury Waitrose - but probably not for reasons that Mark Price has envisaged! So for me I start with a healthy transfusion of fruit at the juice bar. Then it's time for lunch at the restaurant. Then time for a drop of vino at the wine bar, whilst my family take a lesson in cookery class. Finally it's time to sober up after the bottle of Chardonnay at the coffee bar. My wife then drives me home keeping me awake with stories of narrow aisles, limited stock and confusing layout. The best part is that our total grocery has shrunk significantly to the benefit of our local Lidl and will soon include Aldi. Thanks Mark!

"If Mark Price wanted to make a statement about the future of Waitrose, the refurbished store he has just unveiled in Salisbury is it." Hum If this is it then I fear for Waitrose. I have been twice and neither time has been good. The whole store now feels claustrophobic since the revamp. I have been an intermittent shopper here for many years however my wife does all our shopping. At various Christmas and New Year parties the ladies and gents ALL mentioned how much they disliked the revamp. I have had it in my ear from my good wife since the reopening. We have now switched to Salisbury, which is ok but at least does not give you a headache and put you in a bad mood. We will continue to get what we cannot get else where but as all our spend is on a Waitose card, until recently, you can really see the reduction in our spend there. Ringwood and Newbury are off the old style and much better for it.

Waitrose have recently revamped the Cafe into a "Macdonalds" type entrance whereby there are four queuing aisles with two member of staff per till, you place your order and sit down. What they do not tell you that it could take up to 45 minutes to have the food delivered to your table and when it does it is either cold or not fit to eat.I have visited Waitrose Café twice now since the revamp and first occasion it was total mayhem with plenty of staff taking your order but then it vanished into a black hole - whether you would get your meal or not was pure gamble. Second occasion, staff took your order and then 10 minutes later in the evening young lady came to the table to say that no meals were being served any more. Manager apologised but it was too late. The place suffers from poor staff training, lack of customer care and the quality of food is much to be desired. There is no organisation and lack of supervision is rife. Staff talking amongst themselves and ignoring the customer. The Manager needs to get a grip on this because loyal Waitrose customers will not come back. Before the store revamp, it was very organised, you queued up, chose the meal which was on hot plates before you and paid. Now, it is like a fast food outlet not what I expect of Waitrose who I thought prided themselves on quality. I will not be back.

My family and I (two adults and a child) recently visited Whatley Manor for afternoon tea 09/10/23. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations, prompting this review. Despite booking a regular afternoon tea, we were charged £43.50 instead of the confirmed £37.50, citing a festive surcharge. Disappointingly, there were absolutely no noticeable festive elements to justify this added cost. Upon arrival, we were seated at a stark white, unadorned table, devoid of any seasonal decorations or even water glasses. The music being played just after we arrived wasn’t festive either. Our initial drinks and food were served promptly but for £140 (the entire amount of food in the attached photo), the value was awful. It consisted of three stale items, the Battenberg slice if you’re interested, accompanied by minimal service (no follow up on food and additional drinks and we had to go and find staff to ask to pay the bill) and a complete absence of the promised festive ambiance which after all was what the surcharge was for. Overall, this was an expensive and unsatisfactory afternoon tea experience. We have since had the festive surcharge refunded which we appreciate but I wouldn’t go back again or recommend the afternoon tea as an experience I’m afraid.

Have a lovely stay here with friends, booked a triple room. The room was spacious and very comfortable, we booked an evening meal here and the owner was very helpful with the Thai menu as I'm unable to eat spicy food and her recommendation was delicious ( pad Thai noodles with chicken). Lovely breakfast and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again 👍

I have a dairy intolerance and was served a meal with butter, slaw and mayonnaise after I had told them about my intolerance. The meal was taken away and I was served a Ham baguette with most of the meat inside being just fat and I found spread in the roll. The mustard turned out to be mayonnaise with mustard seeds in it. My family member asked for Fish and chips yet she was served Fish with French fries. I ended leaving the cafe completely disgusted and will never return.

Wedding coordinators both amazing. Prompt and professional support and advice. Food was better than some Michelin restaurants I’ve been to. Five star quality; amazing service and would highly recommend. Venue went over and above what was necessary from free coffee to supporting external vendors and accommodation
