Morrisons Cafe, Chippenham in Wiltshire

I think when you opt to eat breakfast in a supermarket cafe there aren’t expectations of gourmet food. However I think there are standards you should be able to expect and Morrisons spectacularly fell short of even the lowest expectations! My breakfast was just over £11 as I added a couple of extras. Mushrooms were tinned and cold. Tomatoes were chopped tinned and cold. Bacon was lightly warmed in the microwave and came complete with flabby undercooked rind and was covered in white gunk. Sausage was deep fried, and of the quality that even the dog would turn its nose up at. Hash browns were overdone but passable. Toast came cold and chewy with a nice slab of hard butter on top! All this came with a cappuccino that tasted like the machine needed a good clean and service lacking anything close to a smile! I won’t be returning to experience their vile offerings again!

Cafe bin here for ever but it's going down hill it's not very clean the staff are doing there best but are grumpy as hell and not prfeshanl. So it just needs a point in the right direction.😔😊

Absolutely shocking come in today 4th August for a Sunday lunch only to find they only have a limited selection of food no Sunday lunches no advertising to say it only a limited service so you don't know until you get to the till and be served by a young lady that clearly does not care as the tone in her voice was rude we then told the 2 sections we can order from so I make 2 choices from the sections only to be told they didn't have them either it completely shocking customer service had their been some notice of limited service we would not have got the drinks and gone somewhere else Sunday ruined nit happy atall

The poor young woman on the check out was not only serving customers but having to take the orders to the tables she was clearly rushed off of her feet doing three people's jobs The food was absolutely disgusting. The vegan sausage in a roll was undercooked and stone cold. The full breakfast was also stone cold , the bacon was totally undercooked infact the whole breakfast was a disgrace. Shame on you Morrisons for the way you treat your staff and for the appalling food.

Waiting for an appointment I came in this morning for a cup of tea and tea cake. Why oh why do Management think this cafe can be run with 2 members of staff? Morrisons your missing a trick and not looking after your employees. It 10.11am and there are over 30 customers ordering drinks and food. Your expecting 2 staff members to work the till, Dish and cook the food, serve the food, clean the tables and be courteous to customers? Very short sighted in my eyes……..more staff = a quicker service, cleaner environment, happier employees = A better experience for customers. Maybe 2 of you should run it for a week and see how you get on 😂

This cafe used to be great! But over the last few years, it's gone downhill massively!. Most of the staff don't have a clue and clearly don't want to be there. Floor,tables, and cutlery are always dirty. The coffee machine is always broken! They always seem to have run out of Fish and chips.

If you want to see something that is so badly orginsed, this is the place for you. The girl are doing several jobs taking orders and delivering them to the tables. So the queue gets longer and longer. You finally get to the till when they diappear to serve somebodies food. Get a grip

Shocking service in cafe. Ordered at 10.25 am and didn't get breakfast until 11.45 am. Very chaotic. When breakfast came only warm.

An easy breakfast on a busy Saturday morning. And such a bargain too! 2 for £10 to feed two adults and that included a much needed pot of tea. I was happy that on the menu (online ordering) you can remove what you won't eat on the breakfast (which saves on waste). A tasty meal and will return in the near future I'm sure.

Staff were excellent. Very reduced menu,ate there for 3 weeks, if you liked breakfasts and lasagne you were ok,thats because the cooker was broken or so they say.

Today 20/02/2022 at 13.26, my husband and I were at the Morrison Café in Chippenham. I saw something, and it really bothered me. The chef while buttering toast and touching plates, he scratched his anklet, after a couple of minutes while he was talking to a customer, he thought to be in his house and scratched his naked lower back. He did not wash his hand and proceed with the customer's toast. My husband stopped me when I was willing to report such hygienic behaviour. I didn't usually complain, but honestly, I ate and I kept thinking about this "chef" who touches my food... I have to be honest and I have seen other employers use hand sanitizer all the time.

Morrisons has a quiet hour every Saturday where the lights in the store get dimmed to allow autistic A pleasant shopping experience. But at the Cafe all the lights are off and then it’s a cloudy wet January even darker. So if you want to eat in the Dark Morrisons cafe Chippenham is the place between 9am and 10.15am

Excellent food and good value for money.

Tried to get Xmas Lunch at Morrison's Bath on Sunday only to be told ONLY bfast was available at 3pm!! So imagine my angst to be told at Morrison's Chippenham that Xmas Lunch was over at 3pm today!! Richard the Chef over heard my dejection and offered to do me one. What a star and it was absolutely brilliant. He should be on the New Years honours list!!!

A spur of the moment visit for breakfast. We were served quickly and efficiently The food was hot and cooked as liked Worth calling in even if not shopping

Yet again disappointed with a Morrisons cafe. Went for some lunch on Sunday. Chose pie with sides, chicken wings for myself. Got drinks on tray, joined the line for the till. Eventually arrived at checkout firstly to be told NO PIES, then TOLD NO CHICKEN WINGS. Left drinks with staff and went elsewhere that would have food. The menu is very poor now. General decline in standards. Used to have good choices at one time and I would visit regularly. COME ON MORRISONS CATERING MANAGEMENT GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

Great value, nice breakfast, went for dinner but didn't have anything available, not even a jacket potato. A bit hard to believe when they say they use Morrison's own products. No pies in cafe but available off the shelf. Doesn't make much sense. Ended up across the road at brewers fare 2 mains for £8. Better value and cheaper.

Well, not even that really! To be fair I don't expect much from a supermarket cafe but was even left disappointed on those low expectations. I was disappointed that their own steak pie was out of stock. Looking in the shop they had a beef and onion which would of made a decent substitution instead of just saying no! So I ordered the chicken pie with chips instead, it came out with mash. When it was specifically asked for chips- how about apologising for the error instead of trying to blame me? So my food went back and came back with chips. So now, although probably held under a heat lamp? my mushy peas and pie were only lukewarm. I did pour some of the gravy on the pie to heat it up but it was the most watery gravy I think I've ever seen. I don't think there is much emphasis placed on customer service here.

Don’t understand at all. Ordered on the self service till- our food arrived and our drinks didn’t. Was told I needed to go and help myself to drinks- didn’t understand why. So then had to wait in a queue whilst food was getting cold to wait for my drinks. Hot chocolate had no chocolate, not given any butter for toast, missing sausages On a breakfast, bacon under cooked, Dirty table. And just poor service.

Great food and good value for money. Unfortunately, the staff appeared uninterested in serving us and continued their chats about their social life until myself and other customers grouped together to asked to be served.

Went there for a Saturday breakfast with my family and I can't complain about the food. It was nicely cooked and delicious, so no issues there. But it was the service that let this place down. At the till, we were served by someone who was apparently the café manager, but he seemed to limited knowledge of their menu. The meals we ordered were supposed to come with fried bread, according to the menu, but the manager was adamant they didn't and gave us a choice of toast instead. When the meals did arrive, they did have fried bread with them, so we ended up with that and toast. Because of COVID-19, the manager was taking people's orders and then directing them to a table, but he sent quite a few people to tables that hadn't been cleaned. As there were plenty of clean tables, several people just moved to another table, taking their table number with them, which must have confused the servers! But they ought to have had a better system to allocate tables, or at least have more people cleaning tables. To be fair, from the frazzled look on staffs' faces, I'm guessing they were short-staffed that day, which is all the more common with COVID-19 doing the rounds. I do sympathise with them and I'm sure they were trying to make the best of a bad situation. One other plus point is that they were also offering Eat Out to Help Out seven days a week, so we got a discount even though it was a Saturday!

Slow service at busy times but the staff are doing 2 jobs at the same time and they are polite and hard working and very helpful. I had cod chips peas onion rings and coffee all for £3.12p. The chips were almost cold but for £3 I'm not complaining. In these covid times we have to accept little things like this. For a cheap feed up you can't go far wrong. So I recommend Morrison's.

Could have been a little hotter mushrooms were not cooked properly but omelette was Devine.

Stopped off for a very welcome bacon bap and coffee in the café. Would have liked the bacon slightly more crisp. I'll ask next time.

Really good value for the price as kids eat free after 3pm with an adult! Food obviously not fancy but the same quality as cheap pub food and fed a family of 4 with drinks and kids ice cream for £14!!!!!

Do not ever have a fried breakfast from here. It was horrible...at 8 am the sausages were already bone dry and shriveled up...the fried bread would give you a heart attack on the spot... mushrooms were overcooked and beans in tomato sauce very watery and runny.... Yuck.... Unfortunately this isn't the only Morrison that is so bad at serving food. Have sampled a few bad meals unfortunately. There kitchen needs big time improving.

Stopped to grab a quick breakfast whilst staying at the Premier Inn on the opposite side of the road and couldn't bear to eat in the Brewers Fayre. Super clean, loved the self service kiosk which were really easy to use, a great selection of breakfasts to choose from, something for even the fussiest eaters (of which I am one). Food arrived very quickly and served by a really helpful member of staff. Recommended.

Always stop for breakfast here on our way to Devon for holidays. Food is good, service is quick and the new self ordering system is brilliant.

Ordered on the touch screen ordering device, worked quite well, but I accidentally ordered two coffees. The food arrived in about 5 minutes. The chips and pie looked a little over done and the peas were a bit anemic, however it all tasted good. It was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and professional. The cafe appeared clean and well decorated. I would eat here again.

We were there for an espresso coffee, unfortunately their push button machine was not programmed for this item, so we had to settle for a very weak regular. It is unfortunate, but the ‘foodies’ they cater for prefer high fat and heavily sugared items. However, it is what it is.

Had an all day breakfast before shopping great value for money two rashers two sausages two eggs chips mushrooms and beans well cooked.

A very nice and spacious cafe with plenty of seating. Good service but had to wait 20 minutes for food. Will go back though.

Belting brekky! All fresh and good quality, good strong tea/coffee (coz its self serve). One of the best brekkies we've had in a while. Can see why the place is full of builders.

Got to be the worst big breakfast I have ever had! Been stuck in a warmer for hours, bacon had no meat on it, all fat, mushrooms dry, sausages shrivelled, all cold, even the toast was a soggy mess. Thank goodness I ordered a cup of tea, at least that was hot!

Went for a "cooked" small breakfast at about 8.00 in the morning. The lady at the tills looked fed up and miserable. You would hope the food would be fresh and hot at that time. All the food was barely lukewarm, bacon like cardboard, and the mushrooms verging on raw. If they have a heat lamp for the food, perhaps they should try turning it on? It may be reasonably priced but I would rather pay more and eat something decent. I won't be returning to this cafe.

Turkey dinner okay apart from not being very hot. No chocolate brownies. Only Christmas pudding ot crackers and cheese which was dry as no butter. The cutlery was stained. No napkins only kitchen roll. That's why low stars.

I find the standard quite reliable at Morrison's. The food is usually well cooked and reasonably priced and this visit was no exception. A bit of a delay with the food, but the restaurant was three-quarters full. The service was polite.

Good coffee. Fast and friendly service. Tables cleared frequently. Varied menu. Kids portions available and kids eat free after three. Very acceptable for a supermarket cafe.

Long cues most of the time cheap and cheerful

Although the food was lovely, the trays were all dirty, as were the tables. Staff were particularly unhelpful and were all in a foul mood. Poor customer service.

Credit to Morrison they do a good meal for a very fair price. We called in on a trip back to South Wales for breakfast. Much better than a service station, and not far off junction 17 on the M4. Great breakfast, very clean, staff very polite, well presented cafe. Morrison cafes are to a very good standard. They have bad days no doubt, looking at the reviews, but we have always found them to be very good. Mike

I have had breakfast at Morrison’s cafe on a few occasions. Very good value and the staff are friendly.

A hot, tasty breakfast. Cheerful service in spite of being so busy. We breakfasted on 2 consecutive mornings over the bank holiday weekend, and are glad to say that the standard did not slip on the second day. A good price and even a window seat! My husband stays in many hotels on business and claims that this was better than any hotel breakfast.

For a supermarket cafe this one is really good. For a small English breakfast with toast for under £4 wow. Coffee is excellent, fresh and tasty £1 60p all served hot and quickly.

Quite a wide range of food, but no longer low cost. It is not bad for the kitchen they have. Although recently refurbished, it still has a budget look.

Good overall. I was there on a Bank Holiday Monday, so quite busy. Coffee and tea is self-sevice and cakes wrapped in plastic. Moderate size cafe with good selection. Prices are reasonable.

Worst meal ever pie was so over cooked it was black inside, and the top of the pie could have been used as a brick

Excellent breakfast. Good size portions. Tasty too! Fast and friendly service. Helpful staff. Great value for money!

Popped in here for a quick family meal as we had only just got to the area on our way to our cottage rental. No queue at the counter, cheap prices, ordered meals but the person behind the counter didn't type in all four meals meaning when the food came out we had to reorder one of them. Honestly it's not too difficult to check the order back to customers to check nothing was missing, four people three meals, ask the obvious question. Anyway it came out quickly enough served by the same person that took the order (who had been coughing into her arm at the counter) only hope she washed her hands. Food was as expected, generally from frozen products. Salad was rather wilted but chicken OK. Nice chips, horrible coleslaw. Overall we wouldn't rich back despite it being really cheap. Guess you get what you pay for, although the Morrisons cafe in the Taunton branch is much nicer.

Called in for a quick meal between appointments.

One review on here said half hour wait, rubbish, we had our food in 7 minutes, hot and lovely. Quite likely to return.

Eat here for a quick meal after shopping, depending on how many staff are working we have had to wait for nearly 30minutes for our meals, plus having waited so long we have to get more drinks, surely the managers can see the cafe is filling up with people waiting for their meals they should get other staff to help from shop floor, sometimes the food is not very good but no use complaining as the staff are too busy it used to be good to eat there.

Okay meal at a push, food wasn't great and prices a bit much. Menus are not easily on display and they could do with putting them on the tables.

We have popped In for dinner plenty of times and food and prices are fab. It's a cafe and the waiting times are never very long.

In many ways this is a general thumbs up for Morrison's cafes. We have found them reliable cheap eats with a uniform standard of good quality pormptly served throught the country.

Morrissons are in the process of refurbishing their Chippenham store, including the cafe. It now has a fresh look with real tables and chairs in a much more open format which is light and airy.

Estuvimos aquí para el almuerzo, ya que estábamos, ajustado en el tiempo. Intentó pedir pastel de carne con cerveza para nosotros, pero les gustaría salir corriendo. Ambos fuimos para el pescado y las patatas fritas, uno con frijoles y uno con guisantes blandos. El pescado era muy bueno, buen gusto y pasta era muy buena. Ahí es donde los comentarios buen acabado. Las patatas fritas eran espantosas. Supongo que eran patatas fritas horno que habían dejado bajo las luces. Eran incomibles. Los granos eran casi de una vez en el plato y el guisantes blandos eran insípidas. Cómo estos cafés sigue no sé. Había un hombre, tomando las órdenes, esperando las mesas y recoger los platos sucios. No hay duda de que la pobre estaba en pagar básico y que estaba haciendo todo. Morrisons. vergonzante No me sorprende que estés luchando en el mercado.

Un restaurante encantador con luz brillante, personal servicial (incluso temprano en la mañana). Teníamos una gama completa de opciones de desayuno inglés completo, huevos escalfados, ensalada de pino tuerca etc. Todo estaba fresco cocinado y servido con una sonrisa. A un precio muy razonable, y además puedes recoger cualquier otros requisitos en la tienda.

Nos fuimos a la cafetería muchas veces en el pasado. Ofrece buena comida a un precio mucho más barato, especialmente durante la semana, los niños comen gratis con orden de comida de adulto. Los niños siempre pueden elegir una bebida gratis y una ensalada de frutas. La mayoría del tiempo, los niños también conseguir papel y lápices para colorear. Nunca se aburrirá.

Fuimos para una cena temprano y bastante largo viaje y turismo. Muy limpio y bien mantenido. El personal era agradable y servicial. Me gustaría optar por su pescado y patatas fritas en otros marcas bien conocidas '

Had an afternoon tea there, good scones and an aromatic black tea. Clean, friendly, toilets o.k. Recommend!

Morrison's need to give some thought to allocation of the jobs - the lady who takes the money etc also has to deliver food to the tables so expect some waiting in line!Apart from that, we had a hearty breakfast, freshly cooked to order, of fairly good quality and a low price.

In the queue for 20 mins and coffee machines out of action till not working! What a waste of time. Will go to Sainsbury's next time!!

Last Friday went to get fish and chips 1145 told run out of fish went today 1330 told run-out of not potatoes what a shambles needs someone to get a grip won't bother again

Had a good hot breakfast there with my partner a Premier Inn affiliated chain can;t provide at this price, not to mention a Wetherspoon breakfast. Will definetely return.

Popped over from the premier inn for breakfast, good choice! staff pleasant, food very tasty and enjoyable and at a good price too, surroundings bright and clean.Would definitely use them again when staying in the vicinity.

If you want something quick in the morning its the place to go load up on a full English for next to nothing cant be wrong.

Reasonable prices but no atmosphere, slow service and poor quality coffee. Shame because good supermarket for weekly shop. I keep hoping it will improve but it doesn't.

Myself and my wife visited , the menu looked good however the food was just terrible , my burger was dry on a rock solid bun and fatty chips , it was made worst that my wife's jacket potato was raw! When we mentioned it to the girl on the till , she took and re heated it!!! At that point we left , as we left a manager was walking towards us so I made a point of commenting on how poor our lunch was he ignored us and walked of! The food may be cheap but quality not good!!

Good menu with varying deals available throughout week. Cheap eats. Sometimes staffing an issue so dirty tables left unattended for a while. Not good when you're in a hurry and have to move other peoples dirty plates to find suitable seating.

Ok for a quick snack, poor quality coffee, meals are all microwave type reheat dishes, very little fresh. No taste, cheap and nasty.

Had breakfast last Tuesday, the bacon was burnt black and inedible, and the fried eggs were totally raw on top. This is not the first time this has happened. I would seriously question the catering qualifications of the cooking staff .. The only positive thing I could comment on was the cleanliness of the cafe. Certainly the worst breakfast I eaten in a long time
