The food is fabulous. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is spot on.

Recently had both a takeaway and sit down meal here after hearing good things. Well I can safely say it didn't disappoint. Food was fresh, authentic and super tasty. For takeaway I had Yakatori Chicken Skewers and for sit down had the Beef Rendang Curry with Sticky Rice. If I could have 1 wish for the food it would simply be for them to add a Massaman Curry to the menu. I would 100% recommend this restaurant if you're looking for reasonably priced, authentic Asian food.

Very pleasant establishment and staff

Although there are many Southeast Asian delicacies on the menu, knowing that the hostess is a Malaysian who speaks Cantonese, of course I had to try the Malay meal. The sambal chicken is delicious, and the rendang beef is also delicious👍🏻👍🏻

Hidden Gem in town , very authentic Malaysian food and can sit in, highly recommend.

This horse seems to have become a unicorn and if it has taken advantage of the delicious food on offer it will no longer be hungry ! I find it hard to believe that the change of name and management has eluded Tripadvisor for some considerable time.

Good quality and service , they took great care in cooking food , food portions are good and hot enough.

Yet another outstanding meal at The West End restaurant. Joyce the owner, always very friendly and informative. The menu is a combination of Malaysian and Japanese food all really really tasty and plentiful Starters tonight included Tempura Prawns Malaysian style, Chicken satay and complimentary dish of Octopus and cheese balls. Mains tonight were Sweet and Sour Ckicjen balls, Kung Po chicken and a fried rice. Fantastic. If you are unsure of anything on the menu Joyce will explain everything. Give the restaurant a try you will never be disappointed.

Well, this place is definitely a hidden gem! Really well decorated, perfect table settings, the food was excellent, the service was quick and friendly. I loved the glasses used for coke, and the little fish which acts as a chopstick holder. Nice touches. A perfect Sunday night meal.

This restaurant easily exceeded our expectations. We had the katsu curry and Beef Rendang, both of which were great. Good value, would go again.

Second visit in the year. First experience was brilliant with very good service, explaining the vegetarian choices, with adjustments to suit taste. Second visit was totally different and the menu was as is, no alterations. Staff must have changed or not bothered anymore. Will not be back. Sad demise.

Shocked to find this in Melksham, just looks like a pub when you drive past. Inside is nicely decorated with Asian styling, food is great, and the waitress was extremely helpful, chatty, and recommended me some lovely food based on my love of hot food (obviously there is food for all tastes), she, and the food really made it a lovely experience.

Arrived from the street. The sevice was welcoming and helpful. Suggested food as was a new palate for us of Malaysian. The food was well presented and very tasty. The follow up was helpful. If we were back in the area we will enjoy here again. Can recommend here for good food and service

Lovely food and restaurant. Just that woman who runs it is quite rude. I made a simple request to have less of an ingredient which would have been in their favour, but she said no, you have it how it comes. I went in before with my friend to eat in, and she just snatched the prawn crackers away without asking if we had finished eating them. Maybe that's the Malaysian way and could be classed as authentic, but as the food and restaurant are so nice, I feel being so rude and non accommodating deserves less points.

Came to West End Inn for the second time as we were craving the umami taste of Malaysian/Chinese food. It did not disappoint! Mee Goreng and Crispy Chilli Pork has now become our favourite. I do remember from last time we went that takoyaki was not great nor authentic tasting. Personally I’d stick to ordering Malaysian/Chinese food here though they have pan-asian menu.

Very enjoable evening, as always! Food was very very tasty. Owner/chef goes above and beyond to get everything right. Our table was decorated with sparkles for the ocassion. We also ordered take away for next day and our son. Thank you very much. Looking forward to our next visit🙂 Highly Recommend

A hidden gem in Melksham! The Malaysian cooking is excellent, particularly the Sambal and Kam Heong prawn dishes for me. Plentyful, and delicious homemade sauces!

Malaysian restaurant with loads of choices of dish including Japanese and Thai. Had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Waitress was informative and friendly.

A lovely pub with fantastic service. The meal we had was great, they have a wide range of Asian cuisine. A must visit if you are in the area.

Went the other night for the first time and had a delicious dinner! The portions are very generous and the food was served hot and fresh. It is nice to have a Chinese restaurant in Melksham that you can dine in. We will definitely be back!

Cosy & nicely decorated restaurant. We were greeted and seated promptly, drinks orders taken and served quickly. Fairly extensive menu and generous portions. We were even advised that 3 portions of rice is ample for 4 people. All 6 of us agreed that the food tasted great. The person attending to us was readily available but not in our faces. She was seen to be constantly cleaning from menus to surfaces. It gave me great assurances especially with Covid around.

Really lovely atmosphere and friendly welcome. Food was good, portions are big so prepare to share or take home a doggy bag. Beautiful for that special meal.

We were 1 of 3 tables and waited a really long time for someone to take our food order. Food came out super fast and we enjoyed all of our dishes except the butter chicken.

Absolutely diabolical. No real effort is being made in any aspect of this establishment. I frequented "the westy" for a good while albeit a few years ago, and it was a friendly, busy, well kept and inviting place to be. It is far from that now.

Looks lovely inside, better than out. Bar needs a bigger selection of ales. Seated at 8:30 didnt get food till 9:15. Food excellent, everything was superb apart from squid which was a little rubbery. Glad they forgot one dish I ordered as I was full and the starters are massive! Took home everything we didn't eat. Get the bang bang chips 🍟😋 very reasonable prices. Recommended

Visited the West End last night. Food excellent. Wide choice. We all had something different and it all tasted wonderful. Service was friendly, efficient and very helpful regarding the menu. Recommended.

My girlfriend and I where looking for a pub meal and where surprised when walking into the West End Inn and the restraunt inside was a mixture of Asian cuisine. The service was very good and friendly and recommended a great choice for our main meal. It is very clean and had good atmosphere. The food was very tasty especially the kung po chicken.

Great local pub, good selection of drinks with delicious food. Great to be back after the lockdown, good organisation and enough room outside to sit for drinks so people don't need to wait & que.

My family and I visited the West End and had a fantastic evening. Even with the restrictions in place it dodnt spoil our evening. The service was impeccable, with the staff on hand to assist you with selecting the right combination and being very attentive throughout the meal. When the food arrived it was cooked to perfection and plentiful in quantity and quality. In terms of cost, it came in very reasonable and you're even able to take any leftovers away. Definitely worth a visit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Relaxing, people keep distancing

Staying locally we called in on Saturday evening and were really pleased to have found such a nice place. Welcoming staff, amazing food and great value. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Amazing Food Amazing Staff and I Love the Hot Flannels!!....

First time eating at the new West End Inn. Japanese fusion heaven. We started with aromatic crispy duck, then a flower roll and a soft shell crab roll, followed by a Curry Laksa. 3 entirely different cuisines, all perfectly made and a delight to eat. To top it off the staff were all amazingly lovely and helpful. Absolutely the best restaurant in Melksham by far, and one of my favourites in the South West. We will be coming back! Oh, and they do delivery of a portion of their restaurant menu, which is equally amazing. Only thing to mention is whilst they are disabled friendly if you are in a low scooter or power chair you will find the lip difficult to get over.

Nice relaxing atmosphere with lovely soft background music and the food is delicious that you don't wait all day for, like some restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic Japanese food at this restaurant. There was a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The service was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu choices. There is an extensive menu and which also has Thai and Malaysian options. We shall definitely be returning again for more delicious food.

Yes this used to be a Hungry Horse that was a sheer horror BUT It's now a local Malaysian/Japanese food restaurant. and I ate here for the first time last night with my family.. We all ate Malaysian food and each tried a bit of everything. I had beef Rendang which was amazing. Beautifully fresh with a home cooked taste. My wife had Katsu chicken and the boys; fried noodles and fried rice. I also had to try the Salt and Chilli prawns. We all loved the food which is a rarity for us and none of us could finish but we weren't going to let the food get wasted and were able to get it to go. I finished mine as soon as I had room! Prices are reasonable, lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, quiet, private and very relaxing plus plenty of bar area for those just wanting a drink. Served by a young lad, Stevie. Very pleasant and helpful with food orders taken by Joy who was very helpful with explaining what was what. Both came over during and after the meal with a genunine concern for our enjoyment of our meals. Ideal place for a couple or a family or for a business meal. Easy parking. Will definately return and probably with friends.

This is no longer a general pub but is being run as a Chinese and aisian food pub/restaurant. It is grubby inside, and the the staff canvt give a hoot and were pretty rude when we went - we stayed 5 minutes and then left. Some other travel sites have reviewed it as offering great Chinese food - but I can't comment on that as we didn't stay. I am not particularly fussy, and it has to be pretty bad for me to walk.... I think that there are better places to spend your time and money.

A visit to this lovely place The WestEnd Inn in Melksham. It was a real treat for my vegetarian tastebuds. My friend and I received such a warm welcome, good advice on the menu, excellent freshly cooked food with great presentation. Definiately a place to add to my favourite eating places❤️

Great Malaysian food great spicy flavours. Friendly staff good service. Only let down was the real ale, speckle hen was not great slight of flavor. Overall good meal out and will be returning to try more of the extensive menu.

Lady who owns it was incredibly rude, parked in the carpark and was just walking away from the car (to go into the place) and was approached by an angry lady who told us to remove our car and didn't believe we had booked a table.

Have eaten there three times in the past 6 weeks with family and friends. Always excellent service friendly and very informative on the menu choices. Prices are extremely good and portions very very generous. The menu has both Japanese and Malaysian dishes all with fresh ingredients. By far the best oriental resturant in this area. WELL WORTH THE VISIT.

I cannot praise High Enough the food is absolutely fabulous the lady that serves is lovely and can't do enough for you I would highly recommend this place I will drive all the way from grittleton to Melksham just to go here for a takeaway.

Lovely food as always and plenty of it...

Been coming here for ages, we absolutely love it and it’s so much better value than visiting a chain restaurant for Japanese food. It has a real family feel and the staff are ever so friendly. A great place to come only 15 mins drive from Chippenham to get our sushi fix.

We have been here many times over the past few months and have loved it every time. The food is amazing and we have been through the menu! We would recommend it as we've travelled around the world and not found such delicious food. The service is also excellent. It's a must.

Had a nice Japanese meal, worth a visit

As we have heard that this place has changed hands, we wanted to see the changes and the menu. Upon hearing that they served Chinese Malysian food, we were intrigued. The place is not very clean and the food was not up to stand.

Nice pub, interior decor is nice and it's got a decent pool table. However the service was poor and staff weren't very chatty and enthusiastic.

Lovely place great staff amazing food

Eight of us went for a birthday celebration. It was lovely. We were treated with a special table decorated for the occasion. The food was wonderful, we had both Malaysian and Japanese. We even had our vegan friend catered to from the standard menu. Spot on friendly and efficient service and a terrific meal. We will be back soon.

Went for a bit to eat expecting nothing special. Wow, we were surprised. One of the most authentic Asian food experiences I have had in this country. Absolutely delicious! Service in the restaurant area was friendly and attentive too. Will return for sure.

Visited with an ex colleague who works in Melksham for a quick lunch, didn't even know it was not Hungry Horse anymore but under new management serving Malaysian/Japanese cuisine which neither of us had a clue about, but happy to try anything once we carried on and had a really excellent meal and service. Food was very tasty and server very helpful and informative as we had no idea what the dishes were, apart from knowing what Sushi was we were out of our depth. Pub itself is still just a bit of a drab red brick building that needs a facelift but clean enough and practical. Hope it does well made a really nice change

Really wasn't sure what to expect but it was absolutely delicious the food was all presented amazingly and cooked to a really high standard. The restaurant area was really well decorated and had a lovely atmosphere. The waitress was really friendly and helpful and explained anything we were unsure of on the menu. will definitely be going back.

My wife and I were taken to this restaurant by some good friends and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was very good, with the owner/chef coming to our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. I will be travelling all the way from Bristol to eat here again and highly recommend this restaurant. I would recommend the Crispy Chilli Pork, and you can order it as spicy as suits your taste!

We visited late (11:30) on new years eve. The place was dead......no music/band etc...and not many people in the place. The pub is in need of a complete refit. It's no longer a Hungry Horse and I'm not sure that they serve food anymore.

What was once a cheap and awful pingowave pub that sold everything with chips and VERY LOUD constant football tv is now.... An awesome Japanese and Malaysian restaurant with a pub. I took my two grown lads out for a meal. Superb waitress service. The food was made fresh to order and by gosh, it was outstanding. The price was such good value for the excellent quality of food. The prices are no more expensive than any cheap pub grub place but if you want a stunning authentic meal then come to the west end.

The service is excellent and the food delicious. Have been a couple of times now and Joyce's sushi is beautiful So much to choose from and everyone catered for. If it is on the menu have the Green Thai Curry!

Hungry Horse finished. Now a Japanese/Malaysian 'pub'. Moved up.from the Unicorn down the other end of town. Still very nice food, if a little expensive.
