Ideal for a breakfast bap in a small cafe adjacent to the station carpark .It's a great place for a quick bite and drink if you are traveling from Alton . It can be a lifesaver since no food is available on the trains Food is tasty too

This must be the slowest service almost anywhere. I go quite often. It's entirely possible to stand in line and have no staff come to the service counter for minutes on end. Each time you see the door from the kitchen open you get a little bit hopeful but then no one comes through it. And why oh why is it impossible not to use both parts of the coffee machine at the same time. That way you could serve two customers at a time. Oh, and by the way, yesterday (again!) there was no soap in the toilet to wash your hands. Really good next to a food outlet. I can only assume staff morale is at rock bottom.

I visited this Waitrose and use the scan and shop facility to help avoid contact the checkouts due to the coronavirus pandemic. \ However, the member of staff who was carrying a spot check on 100% of the items in the bags stated that she would be unpacking all of the items and rescanning them to ensure that I had not stolen anything. I asked her If she should be touching the bags and products without e.g gloves. She was offensive. The attuite was unacceptable so I asked to speak to the store manager who was temperamental, at this time woman then stormed off with the trolley in a childish tantrum and did not return. This is the worst Waitrose experience I have ever experienced. They are normally excellent. They were not covid compliant and the member of staff was unprofessional and “angry” I would not have expected this from Waitrose

As a regular customer, I won't be returning. This is the second time now, I have been treated like a nightclub punter, not a customer, by the 'queue management team'... these are just off the street out of work door staff, and if Waitrose wants to better look after it's customers and maintain it's marked up prices in this coming recession I suggest it looks into who 'greets' customers. I don't think the details are necessary, your front doormen (nightclub style) are frankly and unnecessarily rude... Sainsbury's is down the road, I shall be shopping there

Lovely staff trying really really hard and so polite; but just not enough of them so service is very very slow. Superb coffee, croissants and toast. Clean and welcoming, easy to find within the store.

Monday afternoon, one couple in the cafe, rather sad and limited choice of eats. No staff to be seen. Mind made up by a hand written sign saying no de-caff available. (Tragically for medical reasons I am forced to this sad compromise of my favourite beverage). Bought some de-caff ground coffee from the store, got some luxury biscuits and went home instead. Could the cafe not have used their initiative and done something similar?

This store is a nice store with easy parking , nice staff and a good selection of fresh food. It's not a massive store but a nice place to do your shopping .

Well stocked Waitrose. I needed to buy socks and they have them! I tend to eat light dinner so it was ideal for picking up salads, fruit and yoghurt.

It’s not a restaurant so the others giving 3 stars give them a break. It’s a supermarket cafe. Clean, good choice and does what it says on the tin. Lighten up guys

Typical supermarket cafe. Service good. Good selection of snacks cakes and a more limited selection of hot food. Cost is just above OK but very convenient.

Always slow service, staff never seem to have a clue what they doing and coffee is normally dreadful. I know it's convieient but it's over priced compared to some of the other little cafes in Alton or Chawton.

Dirty, rude staff, dogs on seats and tables. Generally an experience worth missing. Not the place to go for a peaceful, clean cup of coffee

Best staff in Alton Lara and grace are a breath of fresh air working hard and serving. The funny pair make the best coffee and are the life and soul of Alton.

Visited this pub yesterday for lunch with a friend. We were very impressed at the friendly welcome from the staff and also the lovely food. I had gammon, chips, peas, fried egg and pineapple which was really good - nice sized piece of gammon which was very well cooked. My friend had the spinach and salmon fishcakes, rocket salad and poached egg with hollandaise sauce plus a side of rosemary salted skin on fries. We both felt the hollandaise was too buttery but other than that, she really enjoyed the meal. If you're in Alton, definitely recommend a visit - it also has a hotel attached to it.

I am a support worker for 3 clients that we took for an outing to Petersfield Heath We stopped at the Plump Duck for drinks and snacks which equated to £28 We found seating area outside the cafe for our clients whilst we purchased their drinks Whilst in the queue I could ls see a man conversing with them and after being served returned to my clients whom have learning disabilities and were upset to be told that they couldn’t sit there because they had their own food which was a sandwich I informed the manager we had just spent £28 on drinks and snacks which definitely warrant a us to sit there The boss said it was their policy and wasn’t allowed The guy came over 4 times as I would not move with my clients as u felt they had every right to be there I was appalled by the managers rudeness and how abrupt he was with clients who didn’t understand and were clearly distressed by his manner and approach They we’re not causing anyone any harm and I will never bring the guys back there again
