As soon as I walked in I regretted ordering from here. The place looked like it hadn’t been decorated or cleaned for years. The food was expensive which I wouldn’t mind if it had of been decent enough to eat and enjoy. The sweet and sour dishes just tasted of cheap ketchup, the chips were dry and the portions were small. I honestly could have thrown the lot in the bin. Disappointing to say the least when you’re on holiday and want to treat your family to a Chinese.

Best Chinese take away I've ever tasted! Me and husband visits Waikui every summer and we come back each year. I don't know why it has bad reviews. Probably they don't know what they are eating! You might have to wait to receive the food tho. (Because its popular and just run by lovely couples) but its worth to eat!

Disappointing food and expensive. My husband collected this tonight and when he got back with the food was really looking forward to it. Luckily for us this is not our local but feel had we been locals the food would have been much nicer. The chips were ridiculously expensive for a tiny portion and dry. The salt and pepper chicken was extremely salty, there was hardly any egg in the egg fried and the prawn crackers were undercooked and greasy. The mixed satay was tiny pieces of pork and shrimp and appeared to have no chicken. But you live and learn I suppose.

Fabulous meal. Mathew and Fenny still doing a great job. It’s been years since my last visit and No22 my favourite whilst I lived in Wadebridge was as delicious as I remember. Hope to be back very soon.

Been having a takeaway from Mathew for over 30 years, his kids grew up with mine , I've seen numerous people at the front desk but the food has always been amazing

Really gone downhill while prices have gone in the opposite direction. BBQ spare ribs overcooked, tough and dried out to the point of being inedible, pork and duck with noodles was also dried out - noodles tough, duck overcooked and dried out with solid edges and containing bones!!! crispy beef was tough and soft (not crispy) Very very disappointed

Below average and bland. Service time wise was ok but the guy serving was rude. Also,, never seen peas in a Chinese? Won’t go again

Well spoke to a few people in the local pub, so off we went to the takeaway, ordered, Sweet n sour King prawns, frazzled to an inch of there lives, sweet n sour sauce, lumpy horrible, fried rice, hardly cooked and cold, chicken chow mein, nice flavour, but chicken pieces so chewy n hard, not nice, chips cold, yuk, curry sauce was kinda OK, fortunately we're spoilt we have 17 chinese where we live nr Barry Island, and this area has 2, looks like we made the wrong choice, nearly all ended in the bin, 🙄 and not cheap either,

Had to drive in to collect from out of town & food was ready exactly at time stated. Parked in front with no problem. Really enjoyed the meal & reasonably priced.

Phoned in an order at 6pm - was told to collect at 7.40pm, walked out with our food after an extra 45 minute wait - while me & everyone else was told food running 15 mins late - they were still taking every phone order & walk in telling them 15 min wait too! Stop taking orders if you can’t fill them & give realistic times!

We are a Family down for a change of scenery for a week and after a long drive decided to have a take away. I Was a little bit worried to order reading some of the reviews on here but glad we did. Absolutely excellent quality and very tasty. Their is a review on here about the noodles looking brown and over cooked, but I believe soy sauce as been added which is why they look darker in colour, and only adds to the flavour, best chow mien I have ever had. Overall everything we ordered from duck, rice, noodles, curry, and chicken balls was excellent and arrived piping hot and on time. Thank you Wai Kui, we will be back very soon.

Not good. So Greasy and everything look so dark and overcooked. Think it was cooked in old oil. Wouldn’t recommend

I ordered special fried rice Hong Kong style and sweet and sour sauce . I was so disappointed, it was so bland , hardly any meat or shrimp . Would not recommend

i have been buying from wai kui since we moved to wadebridge over 30 years ago, the quality of food has always been high and never changed, my favourite takeaway is barbq spare ribs with extra sauce, shrimp omelette with fried rice not chips, portion of bean sprouts and special fried rice...this lasts 2 days for me and hubby and always tastes really good

On recommendation of a friend I decided to visit. Food was hot and and very tasty well seasoned. Had pork chow mein and chilli chicken pieces, curry sauce. Definitely will be back soon. Thanks

For a family birthday TakeAway was the choice. Ordered a variety of starters and mains with a selection of sides. All food cooked to order and there was no problem in ordering items not on the menu.All the dishes we ordered were excellent and the portions were generous. Of special note was the size of the prawns- large and juicy!! The free prawn crackers and spring rolls was an unexpected bonus.We will certainly be using this take away again.

we ordered several dishes for a bit of a greedy night when we stayed in Wadebridge with friends, lovely food, hot to the door and quick. The soft fried noodles are the best noodles ive had in a long time!

I’ve been having takeaways from Wai Kui since it opened in the early 80’s. I moved to Bodmin 3 years ago but their Chinese takeaways just aren’t the same. It’s always a trip to Wadebridge for me, you can’t get better. Mathew and Fenny work very hard to keep the quality so good. Yes you might have to wait but when it’s cooked fresh to order it’s worth it

Food wasn’t very hot and tasted bland. We were also waiting over an hour for our order, we only ordered a beef curry with special fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls and a portion of chips. Will not be a returning customer.

Well used by the locals, which is always a good sign. I asked about MSG as many Chinese Takeaways and Restaurants tend to use this flavor enhancer. Makes me very ill! They admitted that they use it, but made all our dishes without it and it was still very tasty. Really pleased that they were willing to do this, and they were as good as their word as I ate from a couple of the dishes and was fine. Tip phone in your order if you can as it was very busy on a Sunday evening and it was around a 45 min wait for walk in order. Demonstrating its local popularity.

Tried this place whilst on holiday, we loved it so much we went back again a couple of days later! Really good food, not one single dish was disappointing. Decent size dishes and of really good quality Would 100% recommend.

We decided to try this takeaway while stopping in St Columb. Food is lovely and quick service. Only downside you only have 30 mins parking outside but other than that nice meal.

Fantastic Chinese takeaway and highly recommended. Only problem is if you don’t get in there as soon as they open on a Saturday then the wait time can be very long. And they don’t deliver. But I don’t think they need to as they are always busy. Great food and DEFINITELY worth leaving the house to collect.

I have tried all of the Chinese takeaways in Wadebridge and out of them all wai kui is the most tastiest and reasonable priced Chinese takeaway I have been too. I will never go anywhere from now on. This is my Saturday night go to place. If you haven't been or just fancy an excellent Chinese eating experience then visit here

The food is good. Way better than any other Chinese take away in the area. It is very busy, and a credit to the girl taking the orders

We visited the area last weekend and ordered from this takeaway. There was,an hour's wait, but it was well worth it. Food was excellent and not greasy or over salty. If we return we would definitely eat here again...but would phone the order through ahead .

i have been having takeaways from here since we moved to wadebridge 30 years ago, its just to my taste, never been disappointed although its not to my husbands taste he will have some if i'm buying lol..seen mathews kids grow up with my own and seen mathew become the head of the place, have had many takeaways from all over, still prefer this one

Sometimes the food can be great and other times not so good . Portion sizes also differ . We’ve had sweet and sour chicken that wasn’t cooked properly and tough meat in the curries . Though other times it’s been lovely , maybe depends on who is cooking ? Or busy periods ?

We had a takeaway from here last night. Probably won't be returning. Everything was so greasy. The Singapore noodles was sat in oil, the prawn crackers was thing and oily, the egg fried rice was half empty in the container, the crispy beef again was sat in a oily sauce. Will be trying somewhere different next time. Such a shame.

We telephoned in our very large order at 5.30pm to pick up at 7pm (Saturday night) was ready to pick up at 7pm and was absolutely gorgeous - would definitely recommend Wai Kui - can be a bit of a wait sometimes if you just call in but suggest telephoning through your order if you can!

Just driven a 40min round trip to collect a take away, got back opened it up and found one of the main meals was wrong, phoned up and basically was told if you want to come back i will cook you 1 correct dish, never mind the fact that all the other dishes were cold.

Sometimes this take away can be really nice but other times not so good I tend to stick to What I know though food wise Feel they should offer free prawn crackers etc like the dancing taipan Especially if spend a large amount

We had a family take away from here and the service was terrible, having done a twenty mile round trip to collect our order we were very upset to find it was not complete and we paid for more than they gave us. We were told to go for 7.30 and waited until 8.25 for the order to be ready, unacceptable. When we arrived back to our holiday cottage we had only three main meals instead of four and no duck or pancakes, it was very disappointing to say the least. Would not recommend this takeaway for obvious reasons.

Some of the reviews here don't do the Wai Kui justice. We've had a great many take-outs all around the country and this one is up there with the best.

This is a fairly typical Chinese take-away, although it has a more extensive menu than most. I did not expect a standard of Chinese food above what is typically provided by Chinese take-away eateries throughout the country, but although it was fairly standard stuff I thought it a bit better than many I’ve been to. The food was ready on time, portions were plentiful and we enjoyed what we had.

All food made to order, everyone enjoyed their food and it stayed hot despite the 20 min journey back to the campsite.

Disfrutamos de lo que tuvimos, nada por encima de la comida china para llevar, pero nada de que quejarse. El servicio del contador era simpático y la comida estaba lista a tiempo. Vale la pena destacar que no es abierto los lunes o martes. Mi calificación promedio es sobre la base de que no hay clasificación por 'buena' y que la media significa que nada típico y bastante perjudicial.

We ordered seaweed, crispy chicken with chilli sweet and sour sauce, beef and mushroom and noodles. All top notch. Would recommend and definately use again.

Very helpful and polite guy serving food was tasty and plenty of it highly recommend. One of our group had a nut allergy explained this and the guy who was serving told us what nit to order.

Tried this for first time as Tiny Thai had long wait.Kung Po Duck and noodles. Stayed hot for ten minute walk home. Tasty and spicy. Plenty of duck.Friendly service and the phone did not stop ringing the whole time I was there.Might want to phone through in busy periods!

Duck in plum sauce looked good when opening the lid, but I was soon disappointed to discover that what I actually had was pineapple in plum sauce, with a thin layer of chewy duck on top. Honey Lemon chicken, overpowering lemon, if there was honey in there it couldn't be detected. Chips were horrible - tasted like they had been kept warm for a considerable period of time & duly went on the bin. Will not use again.

Very nice Chinese reastaraunt, no fancy walls which was nice, very good standards, I took chicken curry with fried rice the wife took curry beef, also very nice. Good pricing and no hidden charges, what is on the menu is what you pay. A big bowl of prawn crackes to nibble on as the food is prepaired, at no extra cost.

Visited on Friday night circa 7:00pm for takeaway after long drive to lodge and wanted something easy. Nobody in takeaway on arrival, but still 30 minute wait and only one person collected whilst we waited. Plenty more people arrived or rang up and ordered but wait time seemed to increase each time. Service did seem slow relative to other takeaways we used both here and back in cheshire.Food quality ok although not outstanding, and not particularly cheap, although I think for the area it's normal. But at a push we would use again

I wouldn't go anywhere else by choice, never had a bad meal here, staff are always friendly and helpful, sometimes you can be kept waiting at busy times so be sure to order early.

The people running this establishment are charming and helpful. I could not fault them. There is plenty of competition in Wadebridge and at least another Chinese establishment.

Phoned in the order and picked it up 20 mins later. Excellent food and good value for money. Would recommend the sweet and sour Pork balls.

Possibly my favourite Chinese takeaway. My issue is, you ring up and they say 30 mins. You turn up and have to wait another 30 mins. I mean come on just tell me it's going to be a hour so I don't have to stare at other angry customers all peed off because of the same problem, when I can just be at home. All the other take outs in wadebridge manage to get food the food ready for the time they promised. I haven't been here in months because of this problem.If you can put up with the wait, the food is top notch!

After calling to order and was informed 40 minute wait, which is not an issue, but on arrival i then had to wait a further 40minutes, absolutly ridiculos service, othere where ordering by phone and being told thirty minutes, woul dhve been quicker to cancel and recal to order. Food was poor and greasy, come on get into the scene of good quility fresh food with some green.

6 of us came in together, and split and order into 3 orders. There was 40 minutes between the first of the 3 orders and the last order - having waited over AN HOUR for our food! Yes, it was busy, but it is a Saturday night and they need more staff! We naturally had to then go home and microwave all our food, which is not acceptable when we collectively paid almost £70 for our food. The girl at the till worked really hard, and I feel bad for how disorganised this "fast food Chinese takeaway" was for her to have to be the face of this. To top it all off, all the food was poor - horrible gristly bbq ribs, chicken balls, and overall quite tasteless. Waste of money, time and effort.

The food here was really lovely. But the wait was horrendous!! The person on the phone was either given false information on waiting times for food, or something had gone wrong!! We were waiting for 1 hour 30 minutes- but were told 20 when ordering!! We will visit again- but confirm the waiting time first!!

Having read reviews, we looked forward to our take out but although the food was OK, we were disappointed because we expected it to be better. The noodles were pretty tasteless but the rest of the meal was fine. I wouldn't choose to eat from here again as the other Chinese in wadebridge is much better.

This Chinese was recommended to us,so we tried it,and I have to say it's the best Chinese I've had in a very long time,we drove 9 miles , and it was still hot when back home, will certainly be going back
