Wah Ying in Fareham

Worst Chinese I’ve had in a long time. Tasteless greasy food. Nothing had any flavour - most bizarre. Totally bland. But as one other review said, hot in temperature. Where did they get this stuff from and who can make food with so many different ingredients taste of nothing? Expensive too! Avoid. What a waste of money.

Sadly lacking in quality! The chow mein was the most disappointing I have ever seen or tasted, being bland, and the sweet and sour was really poor, lacking the balanced flavours tasted across much of the country (it isn’t a difficult ask), the only redeeming thing was the prawn crackers that were pretty average. If you are used to takeaway restaurants competing for trade in typical towns and cities across the UK you will see that with little obvious competitors in the local vicinity, this one is best avoided. I’m not entirely clear how so many of the other ratings are so glowingly positive!?!

Like many others, we're regulars. They serve excellent take-away food. Always hot and well-cooked. Smiling, friendly, efficient service.

The experience at Wah Ying is always great; the food is delicious, with excellent flavours above and beyond what you'd expect. The service is always timely - the only time I've ever had a delay was NYE, what can you expect. Really brilliant service and I'm always happy to come back!

Had 2 meals tonight and sadly they were not to their usual standard. The chicken was very tough and the king prawn dish also had very tough prawns. The fried rice was not to the usual standard. The meals we've had from here in the past have been very good but sadly have gone down hill recently.

Have used for absolutely years, but sadly the worst ever tonight. Had to go in bin. Even the cat turned her nose up😭Chicken Chow mein very greasy and looked as though it was reheated. Egg fried rice stodgy and congealed. Such a shame Won't be going back, unless desperate. Went for 17.30ish.

As a seasoned takeaway eater at the weekend I can honestly say that tonites food from Wah Ying in hill head is possible the most disgusting takeaway I have ever had. Although hot which is unusual it was utterly tasteless, god only knows how they can call that brown effort curry sauce. My wife and I have used this takeaway for nearly 20 years and have seen it slowly degrade from what was a good quality takeaway into one of the worst in the local area,they don't even salt the chips. It's not cheap but their mission statement is maximum for the minimum,the only reason it's used is because of its location. It's a real shame as the shop is being run on greed. We are done with it now and will go elsewhere. I read the other reviews prior to posting this and was surprised to see differing views, I gues it's all down to what you expect and get. I'm not a seasoned reviewer and definitely not a disgruntled customer i just want value for money. What was once a good takeaway is now in the same league as the rest of the dross in Gosport producing dry tasteless overpriced muck.

Place was recently given a single star hygiene rating. I won’t go again however do ask for the hygiene rating as I’m sure it would have improved again.

This is a great little find. I was staying at a local B&B, and although I've stayed a few times, I never bothered to walk towards, the Osborne View. I am so pleased I did, as this little takeaway, blew Chinese places, here in Pembrokeshire, clean out of the water. Lovely staff, and very helpful. Must be one of the nicest takeaways, I've had in a long time. Really well done Wah Ying. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Remind me of some Chinese takeaway joint in some small town in Canada 40 years ago.

Have been using for years and always outstanding food. Staff have always been friendly. They don't deliver but trust me its worth the journey. What they don't do in delivery they make up for in quality.

Our go to Chinese in Stubbington. Food is always great, staff always friendly, always quick and and priced reasonably. Good veggie options. No delivery.

We were staying in Hillhead. Sunday night is normally our guilty treat night and we are fortunate to have an excellent Chinese takeaway close to where we live. Unfortunately Wah Ying was very average compared to what we are used to at Parkwood Chinese in Kent. Our takeaway from Wah Ying was ok but unfortunately nothing better!

Enjoyed my meal but wife said hers didn't seem anything like as normal with a poor sweet and sour sauce

What has happened here? This outlet used to be superb???? Awful food. Stale, tasteless and tough. The chicken (I think) was unrecognisable as “food?” Special fried rice? There was nothing in it? It was rice. I could do that myself!! Mushrooms were hard and cold? Sort it out. Despite where you are, you still need to perform. Never again.

When visiting family in Hill Head, this is our preferred takeaway establishment. One gripe though, no chicken balls, unlike our local (in Suffolk) 🤓

Egg fried rice was tasty but not hot when I got home only 10 mins drive. Prawn toast and sweet and sour chicken balls were tasty and hot

I have been buying my take away here for 28 years always excellent food very friendly a really good Chinese when ever we go away and we have a Chinese we always compare and its rare they live up to the Wah Ying.

nothing special about this take away, I have read the reviews before and we gave it a try as its over 4 stars, too much veg very few sea food in boxes.. We do love Chinese but this is more average then good or excellent!

I truly love the Wah Ying restaurant! Everything from the fine cuisine to the beautifully designed oriental interior to the restaurant. All of this is complemented by one of the finest modifies Nissan 350z's in the country. The CLEAN lowered coilovers and the cat back exhaust. Ashame its an auto but you have to respect the owner for owning such an amazing Japanese masterpiece.

i love this Place, it does by far the best Satay Beef and Salt and chilli ribs ever, especially when Extra extra extra spicy. i love them that much i have my food brought all the way over to me in France. Looking forward to my next one very soon.

Wah Ying is hands down the best takeaway in the area. The owners and younger workers are always extremely chatty and kind. Never had a problem, sometimes have to wait a bit in the shop for my food once i've placed a telephone order but this is understandable as they're always extremely busy on the weekend because the food is just so delicious. You can tell it is all freshly cooked and is all good quality. These people know how to do it right and keep their customers coming back. Definitely would recommend..

Was awful to the point I couldn't eat it and they got my order wrong. Chips weren't bad and I really enjoyed my diet coke. Bad times

Best house special fried rice ever

Went here for a takeaway after reading all the good reviews, never again the chicken balls were like they’d been warmed up from the night before, crispy chilli chicken was one big lump, they will definitely not be getting our custom again

First time we have used them and we thought the food was excellent dishes were not all liquidy and we asked for no garlic or msg and they obliged without a problem will definitely use them again

Went for a takeaway here as it has good reviews. The service should have been a clue - a teenage girl more interested in the teenage boys showing off than taking the order. The food itself was clearly not freshly cooked. Don't like paying for old food. The squid could crack your teeth. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Best Chinese in town - great service, great food. Always present food on time with a smile, even when busy. At weekends always a good idea to order online as it does get busy. Family and friends always make a beeline to this place when wanting Cantonese food. Definitely, my place of choice when considering a take away meal. Need I say more?

We have been coming here for as long as I can remember, and I have never ever had a bad meal. The menu has not changed much over the years, but I like that as I can always get my favourites!! Their crispy seaweed is the best I've ever had, and their food is always absolutely delicious and piping hot. I actually crave their Lemon Chicken, or Honey and Garlic Coated Crispy Chicken. I have never found the latter anywhere else!! I would travel to come here if I ever had to, so feel lucky to have it as my local!!

The special chow mein is to die for! And the chilli garlic chips are second to none... The whole experience was outstanding from the impeccable service to the delicious cuisine. I can't recommend Wah Ying highly enough! A fantastic oriental cuisine experience. A culinary journey I'd travel time and time again.
