The pub itself is what you want from a traditional establishment. The atmosphere is good. Been visiting here for many years, both for food and drinks. Visited tonight for drinks with family, and it was quite visible how many customers had just drinks? For years we visited to both eat and drink, but now just for drinks? The food over the past couple of years has been awful, from burnt pizza to dry burgers etc. I was shocked but not surprised how few people were eating? It’s not a cheap establishment and has steadily declined over the past couple of years? It’s such a shame as the pub is great and the staff are lovely.

Had a very nice coffee from the outside kiosk which was nice albeit a little pricey. I also ordered a sausage sandwich which consisted of some pre-cooked sausages that had been put in the microwave for way too long and then placed in a very dry crunchy bread cake really poor, won’t be eating there again, but I would recommend the coffee from the kiosk

“Cozy Coffee Cabin” Feel violated having been charged over £9 UK pounds for two canned soft drinks , and a small child’s soft drink . Unfortunately I was not there during the purchase - or I would have walked away . Rip-off Britain in full affect

Excellent food, had the fish and chips cooked in dripping and fish cake salad both were spot on. Staff loving and caring, really nice spot for a walk in the park also

This used to be a regular haunt for us so we were sad to see how downhill the food has gone. It took ages for the meals to come after we had ordered, when it did parts were cold and undercooked, chips were black burned on the top as if they had been placed under a grill. Overall it seemed there was no care or pride in what came out of the kitchen. This place is in great location near the park, so what a waste. Not sure who has taken this pub over but please sort it out.

Met friends here for dinner and drinks. Oh dear. We waited ages for the food and it certainly wasn’t worth the wait!! A chicken and bacon Caesar salad came with no bacon but bacon marmalade, chicken was like cardboard. The burger also had the liquidised bacon on. We were not charged for two of the meals. The hot dog was anything but in what seemed to be an undercooked self bake roll. The location is perfect but that’s it. As we left we saw that many people had left a good proportion of their meals. What a disappointment.

My husband and I went to The Waggon and Horses with our daughter and grandson. The menu wasn't very appealing, but we chose three items from the lunch menu. I had what was described as Chicken Supreme with boiled new potatoes and fine green beans. I admit I failed to notice "with chausseur"sauce as this is bizarre. The chicken was very small, overcooked and dry. There was no evidence of a supreme sauce. The potatoes themselves were OK but were smothered in the "chausseur" sauce that was basically chopped tinned tomatoes and made the potatoes pretty disgusting. The fine green beans were thinly cut runner beans. The whole thing was not hot enough. I complained but got nowhere. I left most of it and was charged £8.50 for the privilege. My husband's was similar although the roast beef was brisket. My daughter's fish sandwich was made with toasted bread making it dry and her chips were reheated and burnt in places. We had been looking forward to a nice family lunch, but it was not to be. I think that you can safely say that we will not be visiting again.

Staff brilliant food awful ..but we did complain for once and got half price .We were very disappointed..the fish was just warm,chips looked they were left from previous day peas all cold. My sausage was lovely but lumpy mash and cold veg. Staff very nice and helpful. We never complain and I really didn't expect a discount. We will not be going again.

We have been a couple of times for Sunday lunch and had the roast. I think it is probably the best Sunday roast in the area on the basis of those two visits. The meat is sourced from good providers and everything was cooked well. Portion sizes were large so we did not consider a starter. Vegetables were lightly cooked. Service was attentive and pleasant. Beers were delicious - a real strength of the place. It isn't fancy and if that is what you're after this probably isn't the place and it is definitely a dining pub rather than a restaurant. Well located next to Millhouses Park if you have little ones who need to burn off a few beans beforehand or after the meal.

A few years since I've been in but doesn't appear to have changed much. Was a quiet midweek lunchtime so we could pretty much sit where we wanted. The place did feel a touch cold but the heating was certainly turned on and was blasting out from behind the seats. The menu isn't over extensive but enough choices to pick from. Had 2 different mains and they were extremely nice & tasty. All very unrushed and drinks were fine and plenty of choice. Not a cheap place but we thought reasonable for the location and surroundings.

Was recommended this place by lots of people however I was disappointed with the food. Starters were great. Fish and chips looked lovely. The chicken supreme was disappointing. Potato dauphinos were burnt, bottom layer could not be cut through. Burnt top had a poor attempt at trying to disguise it by the addition of jus over it instead of on the chicken. Creme brulee was sloppy, not set and was returned.

Best pancakes ever! The cheesecake filling was genius! Very filling. Great friendly service and a lovely ambience. Keep up the good work.

Our dining experience for five, including my mom in a wheelchair with rare dementia, was exceptional. The staff’s outstanding service, particularly in accommodating my mom’s needs, made the meal enjoyable. The food was not only delicious but also fresh. We had a wonderful time, and we’ll certainly be back for another satisfying meal.

PROS :We chose this pub because parts of the restaurant were dog friendly. The staff were very engaging and efficient. CONS : The food is OK edible,but really nothing special. There is a wide selection of beer but we had wine which was very very poor. However the biggest grumble was the temperature -it was freeeezing! My partner ate her meal with her coat on ,and asked if there was a small heater she could use (no). The killer punch line is that as we were leaving - on this cold January night- we saw that just behind us there was an open fire,with Logs piled in a basket which had never been lit! In January! Which begged the question if they don't light it in January then when?

We chose the W&H as the menu catered for all of us. Unfortunately when we came to order here was very limited vegan options and the one we chose only had three servings available. When a menu claims to have vegan and vegetarian options available, it's very disappointing to not be catered for when you arrive for lunch. The one meat option we ordered was also not available. What we eventually ate was ok, but it wasn't what we wanted or expected. Pretty poor really. I rated a three as the waiter was nice, apologetic and possibly a bit embarrassed by having to keep returning to our table with bed news.

My wife and two boys went for lunch with my sister and her boy. We absolutely loved it! Lots of different craft ales from local breweries to choose from. The menu was great and really good value. The boys all had pizzas which came with a drink for onky £6.50! The pizzas were massive and homemade (we took some away as they gave us a box for it). I had the gourmet burger and whitebait with curried mayo which was only £4!!! The food was really nice and fresh along with the local craft ales that were all brilliant. Great park behind the pub as well for the kids. Highly recommend this place to visit :-)

Fourth time eating here over the last 18 months. The food hiya seems to get worse. The waiting staff are really good. (Mostly) and the reason for three stars. If it was based on the food, it would be one star. Location great. Beer good, staff great (mostly) food, pretty terrible. Such a shame as the rest of the pubs in the group are really good.

We held my late mother in laws wake at the Waggon and Horses yesterday, 14h November. They couldn’t do enough for us and I was so impressed with the service, food and organisation we received from them. We had the whole of the end of the pub to ourselves. The buffet lunch was really good, I highly recommend the delicious rocky road cakes (and no miserly portions here!). They were really accommodating when we wanted something a bit different from the menu (also highly recommend the delicious roast potatoes). All in all, they make a challenging day that little bit easier and for that I will be eternally grateful.

We arrived on a Monday night for some food and to partake in the quiz, something we had done earlier in the year whilst in Sheffield and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very friendly welcome, great service, nicely done out inside. Two disappointments, only one choice of pie (which was very good) and the quiz…Never have we ever done a quiz that was so hard! Pub quiz should be general knowledge and not made easy but not made ridiculously hard. We jokingly said something to the waitress, the response “God, I know… XXXXXXXX has only been doing it for a few weeks but like sto show everyone how clever she is”. Come on, sort it out! Think the highest score was 27 out of 50, that in itself is feedback!

awful empty (i now know why) limited veggie menu opted for mushtoom pasta £16 for small greasy undercooked meal ..partner had pie with slash of gravy ..he left it as inedible ...staff surly

The Wagon & Horses is one of our favourite pubs in Sheffield. It offers both a local pub and more restaurant type dining area, with a welcoming feel for all types of demographic. Admittedly I can’t stray from the Sunday roast or pie in the week, but they are fantastic and show great value for money. The quality has remained consistently good over the last few years. Staff are always very welcoming, and service has always been very efficient. We shall be back for sure!

We chose the Waggon and Horses as the venue for the wake following our dad's funeral. We really can't fault our experience. Ellen was so accommodating, flexible and supportive right from the start. We had half the pub for our sole use, with our own toilets. The room and the toilets were clean and the room had a cosy feel yet easily accommodated a large number of guests. The cold buffet looked and tasted great. We were looked after really well at what was a very difficult time.

Excellent food after a lovely walk around Langsett reservoir, warm welcome. Lovely views. Can highly recommend warm brownies and the chocolate ice cream. The bangers and mash were lovely, nice amount of black pepper. Have variety of teas available. Dog friendly outside not sure on inside.

Amazing service and tasty food! We popped for a midweek tea tonight and had a burger each. The service was fantastic, we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome, generous portions and good quality food. The atmosphere was wonderful too.

Jack and his team were so fantastic with communication throughout our takeaway delivery of a Sunday lunch. The food was delicious, arrived hot with loads of gravy. Just perfect and so reasonably priced, I might never cook a Sunday lunch again!

Had a takeaway Sunday lunch today and it was excellently. Tried a few over the year during lockdown and this is the best we’ve had. The pork and beef were very good, came with plenty of veg & excellent Yorkshire puds. You can order online and would highly recommend

We had a fabulous meal and great service, as always! Tier 3 hasn’t stopped the Waggon putting on some show stopping specials (the mussels and the beef & prawn flatbread were amazing!). The service was great and Covid-19 safety was brilliant. We couldn’t have felt more safe or more relaxed. Thank you for a great Friday night dinner and drinks

Acabo de tener un delicioso asado dominical en el Waggon & Horses.Me decepcionó un poco que no hubiera "entrantes" en el menú, pero la panceta rellena estaba deliciosa. . . . .Servido con un pudín de Yorkshire ligero y crujiente y hermosas verduras.La falta de entrante, sin embargo, aseguró que tuviéramos espacio para el pudín de caramelo pegajoso más deliciosoEl encantador merlot complementó la comida.Sin duda volveremos, y muy recomendable.

Great beer and great fries...well worth a visit and plenty of space! I came here with friends and had no problems whatsoever, even let us have our table longer :)

Comida reservada para tres adultos y un niño de 2 años. El personal fue servicial y amable. El programa "Eat Out to Help Out" se aplicará durante todo septiembre, por lo que la factura fue muy barata. El restaurante estaba lleno, pero Covid se sentía seguro: las temperaturas se tomaron al llegar y el sistema de ida. A veces el servicio era lento pero dentro de lo razonable para que un restaurante hiciera una promoción. Definitivamente lo recomendaría.

Cenamos aquí anoche y disfrutamos mucho del menú "Especial del chef". Tuve la bruschetta de gambas y chorizo como entrante que estaba muy rica, seguida de la lubina a la parrilla con verduras mediterráneas, que estaba muy bien cocinada con una piel crujiente.Las mesas estaban bien espaciadas y había muchas otras precauciones para la seguridad, pero el ambiente seguía siendo positivo y agradable, con una decoración elegante y música.El personal fue muy profesional y amable y brindó un gran servicio.Una comida maravillosa, ¡gracias a todo el equipo de Waggon and Horses por estar ahí para nosotros!

Solo me detuve aquí para tomar una copa y compartir una pizza. No hay problema con la comida o las bebidas. El personal fue educado pero se acercó demasiado para hablar con nosotros, menos de un metro y no usaba máscaras. No sentía que se estuviera tomando el cuidado suficiente para minimizar el riesgo de covid.No volveré a ir

Tuvimos una comida deliciosa aquí. Ambos consiguieron hamburguesas y luego un café y la calidad fue fantástica. Sentimos que el restaurante era acogedor y seguro. El personal se estaba distanciando y limpiando regularmente y sentimos que se hizo un esfuerzo real para evitar la propagación del covid. También se nos pidió que nos inscribiéramos en el sistema de seguimiento y localización. Definitivamente recomendaría este lugar.

Tuve un cumpleaños familiar con un grupo de 8. El pub / restaurante estaba lleno, pero el personal fue atento y amable, respondiendo todas las preguntas y haciendo cambios en la comida con una sonrisa. Nuestro grupo incluía un vegano, 2 vegetarianos y teníamos una buena variedad de comidas del menú. Todo estaba bien preparado y muy sabroso. No hubo problema en dejarnos tener platos y tenedores para el pastel que habíamos traído y el pub realmente nos ayudó a tener una comida de cumpleaños muy exitosa.

I’ve been here many times, mainly for their beautiful coffee after walking the dog in the park next door .The atmosphere is always welcoming. The staff seem to be particularly warm natured yet very professional. I’ve had the odd beer , snack , pizza or quality soft drink which have all been spot on .But today ....That Sirloin , that sauce and all the rest was superb !They’ve always seemed very hygiene savvy but the adaptations they have made Covid wise are second to none .Good looking pub with great decor .I bet a lot of local people don’t realise how lucky they are to have such a special place on their doorstep.

This is a great pub, with friendly staff, and good food. A sister pub to the broadfield down the road, which also has a great reputation. I've eaten here many times and walk past 2 pubs to get to it.

Always fancied visiting this pub because its a lovely stone building. We went on a Saturday lunch and was impressed by the gentleman who showed us to a table and explained the the procedure for ordering because if distancing measures.A very pleasant lady came took our orders for drinks and brought us paper menus.We ordered the steak and kidney pie £10 and the southern man burger £12. The southern man burger came with cajun pulled pork an cream cheese jalapeños.The meals came and looked delicious. The pie was great full of meat and chips were good. The burger was good too but I took a bite and got a mouth full of pork fat. I then took the burger apart and nearly all the pulled pork was fat but because of the marinade it was dark. Some of the fat had hairs on it.We were asked if everything was OK and I did politely tell the waitress and she could see the fat at the side of my plate. She said she would let the chef know.

We’ve eaten here loads and I’ve just had the lamb. It was melt off the bone and cooked to perfection. The kids had pizza and they too loved it.It’s a great place, clean, safe and the staff are very accommodating. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or come back.

Popped in for a spur of the moment dinner. Delicious chicken pie and mash, but the gravy was too salty and I wasn’t keen on the greens/cabbage. My husband had the bangers, mash and Yorkshire pudding. Tasty, but again, salty gravy.

A great place to go for a special time. Really nice with kids. We all had tasty filling meals. 2 had burgers, prawn taco, pie and fish. Good helping of chips. What finished me off was the BlackBerry and apple crumble which was sooo nice.Plenty of room between tables and stuff for kids to read and play with. Thanks

Usual great service and excellent meal, we shall be going back again. The place has a really nice atmosphere and the Staff are lovely.

Had a lovely evening this week at W&H.5 off is for dinner. As it was quiet the restaurant area was closed but food was being served in the snug & we were given a nice table & the atmosphere was lovely.4 of our party had their infamous pies, which they all said were delicious, I wanting something lighter so had a larger portion of the fishcake starter with a mixed fresh salad. (recommended by our waitress Chloe, who was delightful ) really tasty. Only criticism is there was a little too much potato in the fishcakes for me.2 desserts (creme brule) also delicious.Good selection of beers & wines served in proper sized glasses & chilled where needed. Thanks & well see you again soon.

It's a shame that the Wagon & Horses has adopted the fad of serving food on anything except plates because the food was good and good value.But the starters were spoiled by being stuffed into tiny Kilner Jars. About 3 prawns and difficult to extract. The mains were served on some rough hewn logs. I really didn't like the idea of this at all. The log appeared to have the stain of previous meals and rather put me off my food.But the real tragedy was the sweet course. This appeared on identical hewn logs that were used for the mains. A dark brown stain beneath your desert is not a great look.It's a real shame. This would have been really good if it wasn't for some stupid trend of serving food on unsuitable items.There is a reason plates developed over thousands of years. It's because it isn't great to serve sponge and custard in a rolled up news paper.No jam jars, no planks of split wood. Drinks in glasses. Food on plates. Simple

I can’t understand why this pub doesn’t get better reviews. Came here on a very cold, dank winter’s evening, it looked cosy and welcoming on the outside and lived up to that on the inside (the pictures don’t do it justice) - log fires, great beers, good service and great food, especially the pies.Top notch.

Called in for a quick sandwich lunch this week as not been here since the summer, ordered a cheese and onion pickle sandwich and pastrami and brisket sandwich with melted mozzarella. Sandwiches took ages to arrive even though the pub was quiet and a couple with meals that came in after us got their full main course before us? Anyway the sandwiches came and I really thought they were joking? The cheese sandwich was 2 pieces of dry toasted bread no butter or mayo with 2 dried pieces of cheese and a dollop of onion chutney , no garnish of any description that was it! A 5 year old could have presented it better. I had the pastrami and brisket which was marginally better because of being warmed but again no garnish of any sort and not really very tasty. To be fair the cheese sandwich was replaced or re-jigged to include a garnish and butter but we would think again about eating here again even though we have the true north card. It’s a shame as this pub could’ve been good if run correctly.

I ate here last week with neighbours last Monday evening a little quiet but place lovely and warm on a cold night very good value food our server was Verity she was lovely highly recommend the beef pie on a cold night

The burgers here are fantastic. Great food, friendly service, definitely worth a visit. And dog friendly, too, which is a bonus.

I held a private party here and had the deluxe buffet. It was amazing quality and really went down well with all the guests. The quality of the food was much higher than I had expected. Will definitely return again.

Llegamos a tomar el té el domingo a las 7 de la tarde y decidimos ir a la tarta del día (bistec y champiñones) y mi esposo tenía la hamburguesa gourmet. ¡DIOS MIO! Honestamente, fue la MEJOR PIE que he tenido, y la salsa, podría tener un plato de eso solo. Charlé con el chef, que obviamente es un excelente chef, ya que hace todo lo posible para que esa salsa sea una verdadera labor de amor. Hace varios caldos y luego agrega aún más sabor al asar los manitas de cerdo de nuestras carnes finas de musgo de Valley (¡que también son excelentes!).

Just called in for a drink but only have positive words to say about this place. All staff we came across were so so friendly! Will be returning to try the food.

Reservamos el restaurante para mis hijas 16 cumpleaños. El personal era encantador y no podía hacer lo suficiente. Lamentablemente, la comida era muy normal. Se quemaron las pizzas por las que obtuvimos 20 y varias personas comentaron después que sus pizzas estaban poco cocinadas, el pescado estaba empapado en las comidas de varias personas y no había pudines de Yorkshire con salchichas y puré.

Don't get me wrong I really like this Pub and Myles and the team do a great job.

Called in for a meal after a dog walk with friends in eccleshall woods , what a lovely pub! Nice atmosphere helpful bar staff and to top it all they love dogs who are allowed in except the dining room . Food was fantastic- we had pie and pizza , proper pie not just a pastry lid pie lol and lovely thin skin on chips none of your frozen rubbish . Nice tasty gravy too and Old Mout on tap , lots of real ales too. Don't visit this area much but if I was close by would deffo call in again . Thanks .

Held my mum's wake here in March. The team could not have been more helpful and supportive. The buffet provided was amazing and fed everyone who came, with plenty left so they offered to take this to the Salvation Army for us to ensure it wasn't wasted.
