They have a good menu and food is very good. You may have to be patient as they only had one person who was taking orders and serving drinks.

Atmosphere was nice and the waitress was very sweet, I ordered fish and chips. The chips and garden peas were nice, the fish arrived burned and nearly black, I tried to find an edible bit but struggled. I let the kitchen know, nothing was done so I'm guessing this was normal. My partner had pie and mash, the mash was really good!

On arival i waited 20 minuites to be served. I beleive the name of the server was called phill i overheard from another customer. Half way through making my order he takes a phone call leaving my beer going flat ontop of the drip tray. I hurd so many good reviews about this plaice and we traveld over 35 miles to come. We asked if they were serving food and was told that the kitchen isnt open for ankther 45 mins. We could see the chef in his chef whites pouring shots behind the bar. Very unprofesional. Our server then came back to us after coming of the phone. We bought a round of drinks that wasnt cheap once paying we didnt even get a thank you. Handed over our last drink and walked away scratching his hair. He hasnt trimmed his nails and they were black and discusting. After much thought we decided take our bussiness else where. The menu looked so exciting but our experince turned our heads. We wish to return but also hopefuly we get a better reciption. We felt more of a burden than a welcome guest!

Had Sunday lunch here today. As returning customers we thought it would be good. The lack of customers eating should've been a warning, especially on a bank holiday. Anyway. Ordered roast beef. Which was extremely tough. So asked the extremely overworked girl to possibly change it. She returned with steak knives! And said the "chef" to try them! Ropey beef is ropey beef. It doesn't matter how you cut it. No discount, no apology. We WERE regular customers. Not anymore. I think they've changed owners, or at the very least lost a decent chef. So an expensive plate of vegetables. No wonder it was empty in there. Avoid!

Travelled some 100 miles Rochester Kent to meet relations who had travelled down from Louth Lincoln 100 miles. Had been before and good. Not this time, ordered chicken roast, scampi, burger and steak pie. Where do I start. Roast cold and “pigs in blanket and stuffing missing, scampi (cheap version) overcooked, which came with “tartare sauce” not true, came with a concoction of garlic, mayo and something else, steak pie, taste ok, small, would guess NOT homemade but very bland and not over generous with mash, burger, dry and overcooked. Staff great and we should have at the time complained, but we did not, but that does not excuse the quality of food supplied. Was not of good standard. Would I go again, no, would I recommend, no. We expected a seamless meet with good food. .

History repeats itself. There is no need to go too far. Remind of 1965 UK racial segregation occurred in pubs, workplaces, and other commercial premises. (where certain facilities did not allow non-white customers). Segregation is also operating in the 20th Century (Buckingham Palace is not allowing certain professions to those “non-white”). And yet, the British Empire practised segregation (where they segregated people living under British Law depending on their colour and race). I am not here lecturing, but to remember that still might happen in this century. In rural pubs (only a 1-hour drive from London to be fair) where locals easily recognize each other while unfamiliar faces as easily spotted. I was queuing like everyone else. The bartender was serving, no rush and no need to rush. I approached the counter. The bartender came to my side once, but I did not say a word. He was working I wasn’t. He asked who was waiting. A young girl pointed out that other customers at the other far corner of the counter were there first. He eventually came back. He asked the two girls who wanted to be served. The young girl said she was the next. I pointed out that I was there first. I saw her coming in. She wasn’t comfortable with what I said. I felt the need to justify myself and said again that I saw her entering the pub. Her answer expressed her disappointment. The bartender served me quickly with no drama overall. A second after I made the payment and collected my drink, he served the two girls and said to them “I am sorry for that”. I left the counter thinking, “Sorry for what? ” Why what happened?” Did that “sorry” mean “sorry for what happened”? To be honest, what happened is that he first saw me at the counter, and he didn’t serve me but I wasn’t annoyed by that. What happened is that he apologised (because I jumped the queue?). That comment it made me feel like I was the one who “asked to be served first”. His “sorry for what happened” sounded like: “She wanted to be served first, locals won't act that way”. That also confirms to me his limited experience with crowds if is not the usual group of folks. Crowded pubs in London have no time for unnecessary comments and they are not bothered with who to serve first, they serve full stop. If I could do that again, I would simply let the young girl first. Above all, we are all going to the pub because we want a little moment of joy and distraction. That comment ruined everything.

Unfortunately the choice of this restaurant on a Bank Holiday Saturday evening was not a good choice. I am not critical of the food itself, that was really quite good. The service however was very slow and it was apparent the business was understaffed with only one waitress available, having said that she did her best. The other problem was that the evening had also been set aside for a Karaoke and the sound was so loud my Decibel meter on my smart phone registered 105 db's, which is at a dangerous level. The meal was good but the surroundings left a lot to be desired. My recommendations are that if you want a noisy meal this is the place for you. If you want a quiet dinner, forget it on a Saturday evening.

Went to order our dinner at the bar and overheard a local and the barman complaining about us and that we were sat in their table, even when we had been told to sit there. Barman joined in with the complaints! Service was rude, with locals/regulars favoured over us long before we were even noticed. It was a miserable experience. The abysmal service meant that a family and friends lunch meal was ruined by the length of time the food took to arrive. Best part of 3 hours from ordering drinks then food, to getting the bill while dessert was being finished. The food suffered by being kept warm or being delayed, the wine was warm not chilled, and those not drinkiing the wine only managed to get 2 drinks served in those 3 hours. What was annoying was seeing others being served before us despite them turning up after us and us already being there for over an hour before our starters were served. It should also be noted this venue is not wheelchair accessable, there are steps both inside and outside. I will not recommend this venue to anyone.

Also the fairly new waitress forgot to order my meal 5oz gammon which I forgave her, i still got the larger portion but by the time i took the fat off would of been 5oz anyway. My partner and I made a reservation to eat here. When we arrived, they had no record of our booking (thank god I screenshotted the confirmation) and told us we’d have to wait at the bar whilst they sorted a table. They offered to serve us drinks whilst we waited, but they’d run out of glasses, meaning they came in tiny plastic cups stacked with ice, and we were charged £5 for 2 drinks, about 150mls each! After a 10 minute wait, we got our table. The waitress was very nice and couldn’t be more apologetic, which we appreciated. Sadly, the food took about 45 minutes to come, but it was good, so we have no complaints here. Our table wasn’t cleared and we had to go to the bar when we wanted more drinks and the bill. No concessions were made and aside from the friendly waitress, service was overall poor, and the barman seemed frankly unbothered. It’s a shame as we’ve enjoyed a meal here previously.

I had the steak and ale pie, which was delicious and a proper pie (not just a pastry topping), followed by apple crumble and custard and washed down by two pints of Timothy Taylor. Alicia, who was my waitress, was extremely polite and apologised for interrupting, each time she came to speak to me. Although I was only attending to some work emails, I appreciated the courtesy. All too often, when you're in a group, the serving staff just butt in, without any regard for someone who is talking. I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay and excellent food.

Absolutely awful service. Waited almost 2 hours for a prebooked meal on mother's day. When the main meal came out it was cold... got up and left.

Sunday roast!!!Chicken overcooked and chewy potatoes heavy and not crispy. Green beans chewy and inedible and swimming in gravy. Carrots good though!!! Decided not to have sweet!!! Won't be back

Lovely traditional Sunday lunch, with an old English and cosy feel. Really enjoyed ourselves

First time visiting and I thought it was lovely! Very nice, spacious restaurant. Quiet for a Friday night but I don't mind that. We both had carvery. I'm vegetarian and there were 3 veggie options. I had the Mediterranean tart and it was so delicious and flavoursome. The veg and potatoes on the carvery were also really good. The cauliflower cheese was delicious. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. It's a shame there's a few bad reviews as I honestly couldn't fault it...will definitely be returning!

Went here today for lunch, had a lovely tender steak and chips, cooked very well, good value. Was also nice to be somewhere where the music wasn't overwhelming and could have a conversation! Hadn't been in here for years, but will definitely return soon!

A fantastic find and have been in a couple of time now on our way back home from friends. Fantastic Sunday roast on both occasions.
