Wagamama - Sheffield in Sheffield

Got a Pork Belly Ramen and a Spicy Mary. The staff is kind and friendly, however, the spicy Mary was nowhere close to a legit cocktail, especially for 9 pounds, I expected a decently balanced spicy version of a Bloody Mary, but that was not the case, too bad considering the fact that in Japan they would not normally serve it, so if you propose it, just make sure you do it right, it was invented by Americans. The Ramen broth was below average, could consider it ok if I was paying 5/6£ for it, not 17£. The noodles where absolutely awful, 3 to 5 minutes over cooked and sticking in “blocks”. For Ramen’s sake, could you at least shake the noodles a little while boiling them? Basic Japanese cooking 101, which no one of the non Japanese chefs I saw, probably understood, despite the training of a Franchising that with what, 20 dishes? Should at least get that right. 7 years in Japan and the worst Ramen I had was never even close to this level of “glue like noodles”. Will never go back. Lacking basic decency.

Excellent food that arrived promptly. However, wait staff took an eternity to let me pay my bill with a gift card. It's a quick in and out if you use their app, but if you need to pay through other means, expect a miserable wait.

I ordered from here on deliveroo and disappointed cannot do it justice. Normally when I get deliveroo from any other wagamama I never have any issues with quality. However, I ordered from the Sheffield branch for the first time this evening. I ordered a grilled chicken ramen with rice noodles instead of regular as i am gluten free and as soon as i opened the bowl i was upset. firstly, the portion size in comparison to the bowl size was lacklustre. there was maybe two chunks of chicken in there (not even sliced) and the bamboo wasn’t cooked or warm. the broth tasted really off and i couldn’t even resurrect it with chilli oil. I was excited to have a meal I have had at any other branch fine but now just feel horrendously unwell

After having frequented Wagamama regally for many years, between 2-4 times a month all over the country, as it's a favourite with my kids. It is a regret that one member of this organisation has put a dampner on our experience, as she asked my family and I to leave as she refused to serve us, because I told her that "she was the most unaccommodating member of staff that I have ever encountered working at Wagamama", hands down. Until today everywhere I have been: London, Liverpool, Manchester, Stoke, and so many others, the service have always bent over backwards to accommodate our varying tastes, the main reason I have always returned. However after today's experience, I will never return to this establishment as long as she (Tiana) is working there. I will be taking up the incident with the General Manager in the morning, Pity. But we did discover PHO across the square, which my kids thought was better all round. Thanks Tiana.

We ordered a takeaway as we have done many times before but this time was a nightmare. We ordered at 20 past 8 and the food took 2 whole hours to arrive and the customer service was nothing short of rude. We called to check on our order an hour and a half later, to be told that the food needed to be remade as they had just presumed we didn’t want it? Then, as we commented on the fact that they hadn’t thought to let us know or chase up the food, ‘Billy’ (apparently the manager on shift) replied by telling us that he could either stay on the phone or go and cook the food but couldn’t do both. First of all, he definitely wasn’t the chef cooking the food and second of all, as a manager of a restaurant myself, I cannot believe the rude and condescending attitude that he has with his customers. We definitely won’t be ordering from here again and Billy needs some training on customer service.

I tried katsu on promo yesterday in the cinema, and it was so good I decided to order. For starters, the prices are not high at all. All food came hot, fresh, and beautifully packed. The portions were big. The taste was amazing! I'm converted 100%! From questionable quality of the meet from tasteless chinese takeaways. Well done, wagamama.

Millie who served us was very kind and offered great advice on our meals. There was another Man on bar I want to shoutout as he was a great chat. All the food was great and the chefs even remade some gyozas as they thought they were burnt (still mega tasty) thanks for the great meal and positive experience

On the day we visited the food came out delayed beyond a reasonable time. One meal was completely finished prior to Yaki soba being delivered. I appreciate the food comes when cooked but 20 mins delay is excessive. The restaurant wasn't busy. I think they just forgot. They knew it was an excessive delay as they apologised. No additional customer service benefit was offered. As a rule you only know how good a restaurant is when there is a problem. Alternatively the restaurant can take the money and just put it down to; we are busy enough we dont need to worry about a bit of poor service. I would suggest when the company wasn't owned by an investment bank the service & response would have been sharper.

The food was really good and came quickly. The waiter Billy was absolutely lovely and we really appreciated how he checked in on us and made sure everything was good. He made the experience really nice and made us want to come back with him as our waiter.

Absolutely ridiculous. We were a party of eight celebrating a family birthday. When I phoned I was told that we couldn’t book a table because ‘it’s the last day of the school holidays and we think we’re going to be busy’. We’d also been refused a booking at Centertainment Sheffield because Take That were playing that night and ‘we might be busy’. So we decided not to risk a potentially long wait and booked somewhere else. As it happened we passed Wagamama’s on our way to our meal - it was virtually empty. So they lost our custom for nothing.

Excellent service, lovely meal, clean surroundings, the staff go above and beyond. Great service as always from Millie.

It's okay if you can't get into another better restaurant, which in Sheffield is not difficult to find. Prices are insane for what's on the menu though. Not worth the price.

Went in yesterday evening as a treat for myself before travelling this morning. Staff was really lovely. I ordered a firecracker and asked for more spice but the chef went overboard with it, managed to eat most of it still. but within two hours my belly started hurting. I was still in town and had to rush home to the toilet. I’m due to be up at 6am but here i am in the toilet at 4am typing this review because i am now seriously dreading having to get on a flight in this state. Thanks a lot guys.

So disappointing! I have loved Waga's since I first discovered it in London round about 2006 and I always recommend it as a safe, dare I say, exciting, "chain" choice. They are great on dietary requirements and allergies and the staff are usually great fun and really invested in your enjoyment of your meal and your experience. I know from talking to staff in various locations that the company are heavily invested in staff development and customer delight, so whats wrong at Sheffield Leopold Square? Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, we were greeted with a bit of an attitude and sense of urgency, we were pretty much marched to a table and seated with some other diners; no choice here. Although we are very familiar with the usual Waga's experience, the host didn't bother to explain the ordering system or ask if we needed any assistance in ordering. A cursory comment about who our server would be was missed, but the host had already disappeared without introducing her. The server came and took our order and to her credit was very pleasant and hospitable, she took our order but failed to ask one simple question that we should have also picked up on, "Do you want everything serving together, or in order?" Again, to be fair to her, we got the impression that she was a brand spanking new member of the team. So the first thing to arrive were our excellent Ginger no-jito's, which I can thoroughly recommend; if they decide to bottle this and sell it as a side-line, Ill be ordering it by the case. Then came my Ramen main, then the crazily over salted, blood pressure inducing Edamame, then the dry rubbery stick things masquerading as Chilli Squid, then my guests curry, then cooked to a pulp Bang Bang Cauliflower. Across the dishes it has to be said that the meal was awful, with the Edamame, Squid and Cauliflower bordering on inedible, but at no point during the meal or when we were paying the bill did anyone ask if we had any issues of if we had enjoyed our meal! Sorry Wagamama's, but this was a huge fail and if it had been my first experience then I certainly would not be coming back, and as it is, I will now have to be very cautious about recommending the brand. A very poor experience in the eatery that I thought was a bomb proof recommend to friends and colleagues.

Absolutely delicious vegan Pad Thai, recommended by super friendly staff, such a lovely experience and such amazing value, I cannot wait to visit again. Very vegan friendly and lovely cosy atmosphere. 💚

I have eaten Wagamama for several years now but I've only just been into the venue at Leopold Square Sheffield. The staff are very friendly and deliver top quality customer service with a smile. The food is always great but, eating from the venue just hit differently as opposed to ordering online. The various smells in the air of cooked cuisine and the sound of people sharing good times together was really nice. I'd gladly go again in a heartbeat for some tasty food and overall a great atmosphere. If you're ever around the city centre and want something tasty, filling and good quality. Go to Wagamama. Treat yourself.

Super fresh ingredients, fabulous cocktails, and stellar service by Millie. The Thai chili margaritas, kojo bowls and desserts were such a welcome meal to our stopover in Sheffield.

Popped in for a quick lunch while on a business trip, ended up returning for dinner the next day as the hotel food was so horrible. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food, as always, amazing.

We were in a bit of a hurry, but needed a quick bite to eat before a show. Wagamama's was recommended. So we gave it a go. The staff was friendly, our waiter José was lovely and helpful. The food was ordered with no fuss and was on our table within 10 mins of ordering. The food was very tasty and the noodle bowl was rather massive for me, but I still finished it.

Fairly reliable food but sadly this time missed the mark. The prawn nori rolls were sad and soggy - we were expecting them to be freshly rolled and the nori crispy as shown in the photos, but they'd clearly been sitting around for ages and the nori was claggy. Unpleasant. The pulled pork gyoza were bland and overcooked and had fallen apart in the pan, but chef still decided to send them out. The ramen we had was nice with plenty of meat, but maybe a bit salty. For the price I think better can be found in Sheffield.

We were met at the door by an experienced and entertaining staff (manager?). He absolutely made our visit and looked after us from start to finish. Service was well paced, food delicious and filling. We all said we would return again soon. One niggle, seating with backs would be good. Perhaps this stops people from sticking around too long to free up tables (they are very popular).

We were forgotten about multiple times, food was burnt and even though they made another they didn't account for the time they wasted, I had finished my meal well before my friend got his second attempt. They didn't apologise once, didn't ask us how everything was or even check in on us after we started looking at the desert menu. They didn't let us pay normally, it's all online, now at of disputing the bill, no way of getting discounts for bad service. Avoid at all costs

A lovely dinner here, quick service and a great choice of food. The Lucky Buddah lager is lovely and goes down a treat with the spicy dishes! Not a cheap dinner considering it is a chain but it’s always busy and reliable. The drinks are where the cost racks up so save your pocket and go for a drink after. The spicy hot dishes are certainly that!

Great fast and friendly service from the staff especially from Ibo

Service was quick despite a busy night in Sheffield, staff were very welcoming and looked happy to be working, and serving. Food got to us quickly, and allergen control was sufficient.

I've visited here twice, I favour this over Meadowhall. The waiting staff are very attentive, they are all doing so well, and this place is quiet aswell which is absolutely perfect for me, the staff clearly aren't run of their feet like they are in meadowhall too, of course the food is amazing. I plan on making more visits. The toilets are great too, they're upstairs but they still manage to be cleaned often. Well done to the restaurant manager!

Absolutely AMAZING!! Our waiter was called Ibo and boy he didn’t disappoint! Made us feel very welcome on our first ever wagamamas visit. Food was prepared fast and amazing value for money! My grilled chicken ramen was to die for. Also, heavily recommend the cherry dough-chi from here. I’d give it a 50/5 if I could!

Went fir a birthday meal at 7.30pm but they already had 2 starters that weren't available and other options were not to my taste. The main meal was top heavy with rice and the fried chickens breadcrumb caoting was overdone so very crispy and not much chicken!! Drinks are ok but for younger diners the choice is very odd!

Stuffed doesn't describe it! You pay for what you eat and boy did wagamama serve! Portions were big, the service was amazing, and the cost was 'okay'. Paid a total of £51 for 2 drinks, 2 sides, and 2 mains. Will definitely be coming back for date night!

Food tasted really good and the menu was not vibrant. I would also like to point out the rude customer service I received when I was with my friends. Absolutely disappointed and this would as well be my last visit and would not recommend to any of my friends as well.

I was visiting Sheffield on a weekend away from manchester with a close friend and we enjoyed the views and Sheffield Cathedral manger event they had on. We got hungry and visited wagamama. Where we have Asia drink and crispy duck samosas, I've never had them before but they were tasty. We finished off with another drink and some noodle type dish. It was lovely. Service friendly. However ordered for click and collect, arrived early but waitress having conversation with customer in front for where to be seated, mostly the fault of customer being indecisive. Hotel is a 4 minute walk, left and legged it to hotel and still the food was completely cold. Chicken dried and, curry was room temp and had a film over it. Bag wasn't warm to touch/container. Seems like Sheffield Wagamas has a consistent issue with cold food delivered/c&c, which is honestly such a shame. Hadn't noticed as overall reviews are positive/mostly when dined in. For the exact price point with eating in, I'd atleast expect/hope some more effort would be put into timing for takeaway, I'd rather wait and have fresh prepared food than cold. If there was a microwave at the hotel, this would have been a semi positive experience but can't enjoy a Katsu luke warm

It was alright, food was tasty but expensive I think for what you get. Staff service was on point though really friendly. Also one of the only places that sells asahi on draught but again at £6 a pint is it worth it?

Lovely restaurant in the heart of the Sheffield. Great staff with welcome environment to always please the customer. Many options for vegans and vegetarians! Always happy to come back and try something new!

We had a great experience at this Wagamamas branch. We went with a couple of friends and their baby, and all the staff were so lovely and accommodating, and made a big fuss of baby. We were put in a quieter area and staff checked in asking if we needed anything for baby. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal.

The food was nice, but the staff refused to bring us the card machine to pay, repeatedly insisting that we paid using the QR code on our phones, despite one of our party not having their phone with them.

I actually ate here 2x in one day because it was convenient, and the menu was enticing. Lunch was the cod ramen. Dinner was the spicy mackerel with brown rice. Both are well thought out with great flavours, but both were also incredibly SALTY. I ended up dumping half of my glass of water into the ramen and it was still quite salty. The mackerel was equally very salty but impossible to correct. Service was efficient, but please reduce the salt in your dishes. Customers can easily add salt themselves.
