Wagamama - Norwich in Norwich

The menu seems to have become very basic. With many items unavailable at the time of order I was left "panic ordering" and paid through the nose for basic noodles... Nice noodles though.

Got sat down and the waiter rushed us for drinks. Once the drinks came he asked if we ready to order. I asked for the ramen to be told the "noodle boiler" is broken so will not be available today. Would of nice to be told that before being seated. Ending up ordering the yaki soba which for £15 for some greasy noodles is not great.

Very poor service. The server was anything but helpful & friendly. The noise from the open kitchen and the loud music made made it impossible to relax during the meal

Ordered from here and got a free item it also took less than 30 mins and was delicious even tho it was late at night ❤️

I came here for lunch break with a few colleagues. Wagamamas is usually quite quick. A young gentleman took our order. Wrote it down. One colleague got 2 starters, the other got ramen, and I got a rice bowl. We also ordered 3 drinks. I got a matcha latte. When the drinks came out, I noticed that my matcha latte had coffee in it, and it smelled like coffee. I really dont like coffee. So I asked the waiter if it was coffee, and he said no. Then I tried it, sure enough it was coffee. So he personally remade it for me. The 2 starters came out, and there was confusion about how many starters there were for some reason. We waited for about 40 mins and then asked about the rest of the food. It hadn't been put through. And we had to go back to work. The employee was really nice about putting our order in first and rectifying the mistake. The staff were really nice about it and gave us the food on the house. It just wasn't a pleasant experience. We ended up rushing our food down.

I have had very bad experiences with Wagamama Chapelfield. Do not order from them for delivery to your home. On on occasion, I got the wrong order. Thought - this can happen, ordered again - this time an item was missing, but of course, charged. Today I thought I give them one last chance. The order was not even picked up by the rider, well after an hour of ordering. I cancelled. I will not use them again. PS - I live only a short ride away from this restaurant, just across the the park

General vibes are nice, especially towards the end of the day. Unfortunately food wasn't hot and the portion sizing alongside protein amounts was rather underwhelming.

The most horrible place I have been to sfor a long time. Atmosphere is horrible! You have to queue for about 20 minutes to be let in, then you're kept by the door for another 10-15 minutes. The place is filthy and crowded, extremely noisy and unpleasant. Food: the most disgusting thing I've put in my mouth for a very long time. It was some duck with sticky rice. The meat was edible, however, the sticky rice was over boiled rice which was mushy basically, nothing sticky about it. The meal generally tasted as if it's been cooked in the toilet seat, horrible. There was a fried egg with the meal, well boy oh boy the imbeciles in the kitchen can't even fry an egg properly. Burnt in old fat and plonked on the rice. There was something resembling salad, which basically got cooked on the hot rice. Some mushy consistence of hot cucumber and some other salady leaves also got cooked by the hot meal. Then I looked around to see who's cooking the food. So seems this waga mama place is a fast food chain using young lads to prepare the food. Those pads don't know how to fry an egg but have beep pit in there to prepare Asian food when they don't know how to make a simple toast. Ingredients are cheap ones sold at a significant premium. Overall, I'll never set my foot at this local, my kids insisted on us going there. I reluctantly agreed but that's it. I'll never, set my foot in there. The place is a complete RIP OFF, food is more disgusting than a street vendor in the outskirts of Bangkok or Manila. I'd give them no stars but 1 is the minimum allowed

I was very disappointed of my food, I order ramen brisket noodles but the beef is soggy like a mash potato and the noodles taste bland and the soup is not that hot when it serve.

We ordered here through deliveroo. Food was vile and inedible. They use something other than chicken for their chicken labelled things. Not sure what it is but it's rank. Chicken gyoza is ridiculously small for the cost of £8.00! Had no flavour. Chicken and Prawn Yaki soba was literally a bowl of noodles, a few bits of pepper, 4 prawns and 4 bits of their fake chicken. Inedible Save your money do not waste it here.

Lovely place to pop in and grab some tasty food. The staff are always so friendly. My boyfriend has a peanut allergy and they are very accommodating and careful about what he is served. 10/10!

Came in for an impromptu dinner with my partner. Was made to feel very comfortable and welcome by the team (especially as we were both hungry, overstimulated and knackered from work). Massive shout out in to Lottie who was particularly lovely and really went out of their way to look after us! Very patient, clear and communicative and accommodated immediately and without questions or judgement. Great food and great service, cheers again.

Had a really lovely meal out with my partner, I was struggling to find a place that was accommodating of my autism. (Accessibility needs etc) and decided to give wagamamas a go. I had been in the past and enjoyed the food but this time I was absolutely blown away by the wonderful service from Lottie. Lottie was an absolute delight and no questions asked could tell I was having issues with the noise and found me a nice quiet corner for us to sit in. They were super patient and communicated everything to us very clearly in order to make the experience not a complete sensory nightmare. The food was fantastic and super quick we came around 5 so just before peak service so by the time to restaurant was full and busy I was more emotionally regulated and having a wonderful time. The food selection is great for people of all dietary requirements and the fact that the food just comes out when it’s ready gives a really nice casual low pressure eating style. Big love to Lottie who was nothing but an absolute diamond and made me feel so comfortable about me wearing my headphones and any food concerns I had. Thank you so much we will be back.

First things first. The meal was lovely. I asked for salmon my daughter asked for steak. Steak arrived on both plates. I questioned this. It would take a little time to cook the salmon. I said I would eat the steak but it would be nice if the bill was slashed. A private conversation was carried out with three staff looking over at our table. No member of staff came back over not even to ask if meal was OK. On previous visits that had always happened. The staff had made a mistake but took no accountability for this. As you don't have to see a member of staff to pay we paid on line. Just leaves an unsavoury taste in the mouth

Very bad experience with Wagama, we came with our little boy when we sat down we ordered food for our boy first but turn out his food came out the last also we was waiting for his desert for ages. I am very disappointed. However the manager came and apologize for the messing up ordered and took the kid's menu out of the bill but still not impressed and we will never come back

What ever happened to wagamama?? Food was always freshly cooked but the dishes we had, katsu curry with chicken was so bad that I struggled to eat it. Chicken was not freshly cooked, looked like some badly processed frozen piece of chicken. Rice tasted reheated. What is the point of having a massive kitchen if you can't cook properly in it? And not to mention ridiculous prices. Won't be going back there, or any of the other wagamama restaurants. Staff was attentive and atmosphere was nice only due to nice weather as we sat outside.

Lovely food, lovely people, lovely cake, lovely date! I recommend the chicken teriyaki soba and my girlfriend recommends chicken hot pot (if the waiters tell you it's spicy, it's not).

Decent food the few times I've eaten here. Nice drinks. Service can be a bit slow and not the most atmospheric, but then that's the style of the decor of the Wagamama chain I feel.

They did not cover themselves with glory today. Slow service, tough meat undercooked, and the bill was wrong. Not what we would expect.

Freshly cooked and full of flavour

Love this place and the vibe. I ordered my usual, firecracker chicken and asked if I could have a little more sauce and they brought some more with no quibble. I really enjoyed the food

It was a lovely place to eat and all the staff were lovely. However, I got the chicken ramen, which I usually love, and it was slightly dry, unlike usual. It also took a little while to come out. Someone did very kindly go and check on it for me unprompted, which I appreciated. I also had free gyoza after downloading the app, and that was lovely. My drink (a strawberry matcha latte) was also delicious!

The food here was absolutely fantastic. However, the overall experience left much to be desired. As a first-time visitor, I found the ordering process quite confusing. Scanning the QR code and signing up for an account seemed unnecessary, especially as it didn’t even allow me to place an order. It took some time before a server came over to assist, which added to the frustration. The seating arrangement was an introverts nightmare, feeling more like a crowded canteen, with barely any space between tables. It was difficult to relax or have a proper conversation, especially with the loud music though perhaps that’s just my “boomer” perspective. In short, the food was first class, but the service and atmosphere didn’t quite match up for me.

I've visited this branch in Norwich several times. I have had a couple of not so great visits a while ago (probably over a year ago now!) but my last visit in December was nice. I enjoyed all the food. Everything was piping hot and served very quickly and I was fairly stuffed after having two starters, a main and then a dessert 😅😂 I probably overfed myself to be honest, but it was great!

The food is always so very tasty. Sadly, the company have decided to stop doing the 'mock chicken' dishes which means I won't be heading here as regularly. In fact, the only reason I will go again is because the staff here are always very friendly. Sad times and what a failure Wagamama-ding-dong!

The food and service was great , the only reason to knock off 1 star is purely because of the prices , I felt it was overpriced for the quantity of food you got , but would not stop me returning 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

food was tasty but for price should be more wow. The staff had no personality and were just serving plates of food rather than giving any service. At £65 for two people to eat a bowl of rice there needs to be a bit more in the way of service. The sharing plates we got were lovely but then my sons food came out and everything stopped, he'd ordered dessert by the time I'd got my food. It was impossible to order drinks as you were just ignored.

Excellent, with professional and enthusiastic staff

My family & I recently dined at wagamama's for a pre Christmas celebratory treat & get-together. The entire experience was utterly ruined by the overwhelming loud music being played which had a very fast tempo during the entire meal. It made us feel like we were in an eating race , it was absurd , deeply unrelaxing & unpleasant. I can't express enough how overpowering the music was , I've never experienced anything so blatant & obnoxious in any commercial environment to speed up our eating & clear the table for the next customers. Our meal was totally ruined by this intense use of music psychology & completely spoilt the ambiance. Such a shame as the service & food was good .

I love wagamamas, have done since the 90s and the Lexington Street basement. I haven’t been to them all but this is the worst so far and I’ve tried to like it three times. Come on guys you literally have a manual for success. Twice now mouldy salad, just think “are those black leaves at the bottom of the bag of salad edible” - no, probably not. Low paid waiting staff charged with making excuses and no manager comes to explain how they won’t do it again. Such a shame

My curry was perfect. A bit crowded. 5 of us were dining here, and food wasn't served together.

Ordered a Chicken Katsu dish which comes with a large piece of breaded chicken, I asked the waiting staff for a knife to cut it up and eat it as there wasn't any on the table. They looked at me in a strange manner as if I had done something wrong. It then took around 5 minutes for them to find a knife and they delivered it to the table with quite an attitude. I've never been to a wagamamas before so not sure of this is a common occurrence but I can guarantee I won't return.

After doing wedding shopping we all was hungry and some people Had never been before so we all went nd had a lovely meal Always will come back

This review will be dominated by my incredulity that a branch of Wagamama could run out of coffee. I have once been in a Mexican restaurant that had run out of guacamole but I have never, in 45 years of eating out, been in a restaurant that had run out of coffee. The tea we were offered in its place was just about drinkable in my case and completely undrinkable in my wife’s case. All that said the food was fairly good, the service polite and efficient (though not interested in our view of my wife’s tea). We might even go back, but we’ll ask about the coffee before we sit down! If it were just the food it would be a score of 4 but I can’t get over the coffee thing

Worst "Japanese" food myself and my wife have had.

I wasn't in Wagamamas. I was working in the building next door. Perhaps you should get better tracking systems.

We were Greeted by jack, Who was polite courteous and attentive to our needs.Making sure we had the right seat for the date night. Gayathri had a smile that lit uo the room and was friendly Amelia and Macey ensured we were well looked after and we got to meet claudia who has an amazing team and credit to her. Just annamzing dining expriemce.. The unsung heroes are clearly the chefs as they don't get to meet people and let me tell you.My pork broth was to die for thank you.People

Had to pop to Norwich after work to change some clothes for my grandkids so popped in to Wagamama’s for a bit to eat. Great food as always always worth a visit.

Imagine making someone wait on hold after sending them ramen with no broth or veggies in it just to be rude when they complain. Clearly some staff training is needed if they can't even make a soup right...

I love the chicken curry: the chicken was nice, flavorful and crispy. The salad was also great with nice steak. However, probably the most boring curry I have ever eaten in my life: flavorless and a bit bitter. It came as a surprise to me that staff here were tired and bored with their jobs. They hardly gave a smile. I'm sorry if anything unpleasant happened to any staff on that day :) Well, nothing really special with the restaurant. I don't want to come back :)

Love a Wagamama before the Theatre

When eating in at wagamamas, we always get a food service and the food it's usually great. I would not recommend getting it as takeaway as the food always seems rushed or uncared for. Amazing experience if you're dining in. 100%

We have been eating here since it opened. It was ground breaking, fresh ,and a really good atmosphere .What the hell happened??. The last few years has been an absolute disaster, orders messed up,orders not even put through, quality really sub standard. And all you have to look at while you watch the boat sinking is a bunch of cooks ,not chefs ! Looking like the whole thing is a massive joke. I used really look forward to coming here, but when they screw up and don't even make amends my enthusiasm is dwindling.

Very accommodating staff (even helped me with a bicycle issue!). Food was good, service fast and pleasant. Thank you

Table of 4 of us, 2 had eaten their meal before the other 2 came out. Had to cancel 1 meal as it took so long and when chased, the staff didn’t even know what meal had been ordered. Food was cold when it came out. Awful customer service. The 4th person at the table had to go to a different restaurant for food and after he left, after telling them to cancel his order, they then brought his food! Only eat here if you are riding solo and don’t mind very greasy over priced food.

Food ok, maybe make portions just a little bigger. I came out still a little hungry.

Food was decent how ever service wasn't up to par, both me and my partners food was served seperate, had my food waiting to be served at the counter for over 8 minutes and arrived luke warm, staff seemed to have no coordination. Won't be coming back simply because of the the service we received.

Lunch with family and I didn’t enjoy the food My katsu salad was nothing like the picture on menu. Basically half plate of mixed salad leaves, no slaw, no edame beans and coating on chicken wasn’t very nice. Very underwhelming plate of food so I sent it back. Ordered tiny starter of chicken strips with mayo which wasn’t that good either. Mayo wasn’t fresh. Very surprised as on previous visits the food has been delicious

Called in last night for my evening meal. Whilst I waited for my order to be taken I watched 3 servers clearing tables and wiping them all down with the same blue cloths I saw one of them picking up used cutlery that the last customer had taken out of the basket and left on the table, then I watched them putting it back into the basket on the table for the next customer. My Pad Thai arrived on a cool plate, it tasted nice enoght but wasn't hot. I was exhausted after a long day working and just wanted my food and to get done for the day I didn't't honestly put 2 & 2 together until about an hour after eating when I began to get stomach pain and spent the evening being poorly. NEVER AGAIN.

We were lucky to sit in the sunshine which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. Service was good, food was good value, well presented and enjoyable - for a lunch time menu whilst out shopping recommended.

Waited over 45 minutes. For a single plate of noodles. Won’t be back unless I have an afternoon to kill or it’s pouring down with rain! Waiting staff very sympathetic and helpless.

The restaurant was busy when we arrived but not packed. They took our order quickly but we had to wait ages for it to arrive. Meanwhile, they regularly turned up with the wrong dishes. When the food did arrive some dishes were OK. The rest were poor and gave the impression that they had been waiting around. They seemed to have enough staff, so I suspect the poor service is a management issue.

First visit to Wagamama for me! Helpful staff and very quick service tonight. The food was tasty but the sticky rice was a bit disappointing...as in ' not sticky' overall I will definitely return to try other dishes at some point and to take advantage of its handy location when I stay in Norwich.

Wagamamas is my all-time favourite (chain) restaurant to go to. We decided last minute after a busy and stressful shopping trip to have a treat dinner. The food, as usual, was amazing and tasty, pretty much a failsafe for our family (2 adults, 1 child). But I also want to personally thank and praise our server, Gemma. She went above and beyond with us. She was professional, polite, relatable, kind, and very warm. Automatically felt at ease with her, and she could also see we were two tired parents with a very bouncy young lady in tow, and she did everything she could to make our visit pleasant. It's rare to have a server to make such an impact that I feel compelled to shout their praises. An obviously very lovely person inside and out. Thank you so much from the family with the young hogwarts fan with red plaited hair.

I love the experience of Wagamamas, the staff are always happy and polite. The food is amazing, as all of the other restaurants you get to watch the chef cook your meals. Its reasonably priced but can get busy at peak times.

Really nice food, excellent venue and staff really friendly and attentive. Food came out in great time, nice quality and well presented. Caters for an array of diets and allergies. A little expensive but what isn't these days, but worth it for the quality of both food and service.

Warned that we would not be served at the same time and we weren't.Found my meal not very tasty with few prawns and very little chicken.Disappointef

My family have been regular customers at wagamamas for years now and it’s gradually got more and more expensive whilst the quality has gone downhill massively. Portion sizes are smaller too. Surely with this many complaints isn’t it time someone at wagamamas took note because you are rapidly losing customers. My curry sauce was like flavoured water, what happened to the lovely creamy sauce of the previous years. I’m assuming you’ve cut quality to maximise profits but I believe that will backfire for the company as I won’t be returning. There’s plenty of better options out there now so who is going to pay £15 for a watery curry. Staff are not great either, except for the manager I spoke with. Judging by how empty the place was yesterday then I’d say in a few years it will go the same way as other chain food restaurants.

I love the food, it is always good. The service could be better though, staff don't appear to really want to serve or help you. No knives or forks. Poor service.

The food is so tasty and filling and the presentation is always great. The only downside was some meals took a while to come after some others. So some of my friends were eating much later.

A bit loud and echoey for me although I am a bit on the sensitive side. Chefs smashing stuff in the bins etc. music a bit too pumped. Generally really good and very clean though and would suit most folk very nicely. Lovely food and staff.

Friendly service and speedy as always. Good place to get what you know and know what you get. The only thing I found inexplicably strange is that each time I've been in the evening around eight pm, half the tables have been cleared and soaped up for cleaning. I would have thought they would be cleared and set up for new customers around then. Also gives the impression that the store is permanently half closed. Food and service otherwise good.

Just wanted to say how unbelievably kind and polite Sam was as a waiter, all the staff were absolutely lovely but he really was just brilliant, I think people are so quick to complain now so I want Sam to know how lovely he was

Visited 18/06/24 to celebrate my daughter finishing her exams as a group of 4, very disappointing visit. First of all staff seat other customers right next to you on your table, even though the restaurant was quite quiet with plenty of empty tables which just feels awkward. All the mains arrived at different times at least 10 minutes apart, by the time the last mains arrived over 30 mins had passed and the first 2 people to receive had finished eating which I’ve never experienced in a restaurant before. Food was ok, but nothing fantastic. This restaurant appears more focused on delivery platforms then dine in customers. Will definitely not return.

Really disappointing. Food was bland, unusually for Wagamama. Wrong drinks brought to table. Then told they didn't have what was ordered. Need to get their game up.

Been to Waga’s loads of times, always good. Today it had all changed. Food very poor, same dishes ordered as usual, nowhere near the quality we are used to. Shame, won’t be coming back for some time!

Lovely food and atmosphere, Belly pork ramen was amazing as are the panko pork and apple bao buns,the banana panko with ice cream amazing
