Not sure the large chap in scruffy jeans and hoody constantly talking into his phone as he did something to the tills helped the atmosphere they were trying to create.

The food is absolutely fantastic with a great variety on the menu to choose from. Service was good for the most part but was dampened by how long it took after having our plates cleared to be attended to again for us to be able to ask for the bill, over 30 mins easily.

Hospitality fantastic. Food incredible and it was a brilliant experience. Thank you ❤️.

The food is tasty and consistent with what I've had at other Giggling Squid restaurants. However, service was slow. We were turned away when we arrived as we had no booking and they were full, but we were able to go online and book a table and immediately come back in. The system doesn't make sense.

Just had an amazing meal at Giggling Squid! The food was great. The team was fantastic; they were personable and knew the menu inside out, helping me pick the perfect dish. As a first-timer at this location, I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be back for more. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great dining experience!

Easy to book and chosen time available. Warm welcome on arrival, and seen to a lovely table in a banquette. There were five of us and we all spent quite a while debating our choice of food and drink. Our server was very patient and we did not feel rushed into making our choices. We chose 2 massoman curries, a pad thai, a spicy gra pao, garlic noodles and dumplings and squid starters as main courses. We all enjoyed our choices which were all different but equally tasty and beautifully presented. Not cheap but good portion size meant we all felt well satisfied. Lovely setting on Tombland and building very characterful.

Went to this chain restaurant many years ago when it first opened and wasn't that impressed. Thought would try it out with friends as a backup option and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Service was friendly and the guy who bought the drinks over was very skilled in his tray management as he put our drinks out. The starter was very good indeed. We had the fish platter to share and there was plenty of choice and quite reasonable for the price.the mains were OK but nothing memorable. Didn't stay for dessert but looked like a fair choice. Would certainly consider this restaurant in the future.

3pm on a Saturday Nice atmosphere even though it was quiet. Funky decor matched the quirky building. Staff are attentive, professional and smiled ! Overall food was of a good quality and tasty - the odd dish was disappointing (mushroom starter tasteless deep fried nothingness) Felt a bit of pressure with upselling wine, prawn crackers etc

Food was delicious and beautifully presented. House white wine was very tasty. Restaurant was a little on the cold side.

Lovely lunch here today, great prices and lots of choice, we loved the dishes Bee had recommended. They all really looked after us, bought crayons and bits to keep the toddler occupied. Toilets were immaculate, I always check before ordering a meal! 10/10 all round

Beautiful historical building, tastefully decorated, attentive service. A pity that the food lets it all down.

I ate here last week during a lunchtime and was very pleasantly surprised. Our waitress, Bee, was wonderful and couldn't do enough for us, and the atmosphere in there was really relaxed and friendly. They've redecorated in there since I last visited and its really tasteful and makes for a lovely, calm ambience. My prawn pad Thai was delicious and I really rate their massaman curry as well.

Had lunch with my sister, menu appeared to be new since we last went and amazing! Love that you can get Tapas small dishes including Tapas sets so you can have a little of everything. We went for the salt & pepper & scrummy sets and it didn't disappoint. Salt & pepper squid was a firm favourite. Service was fast & friendly. Very impressed. We finished with the mini dessert & coffee combos which we felt was ingenious when you can't fit a whole dessert in. Beautiful decor & atmosphere. Can't fault it, a solid favourite place to eat! Prices were good.

Great food and super friendly service! Lads night out and needed a nice place to eat and this restaurant was great choice. Thai red curry steak dish all round with a selection of sldes. Very tasty dish and everybody loved it. The cocktail tower was impressive although the lychee martini was not to everyones taste.

I arrived at the restaurant, and when I entered I asked permission to order, but no one came for more than 25 minutes.

I think it was because they were so busy, but waitresses were courteous and polite we were left without my drinks for ages so long in fact our starters came out first not knocking food or service as such but did feel a little forgotten as never had crackers put on table like every other table did iether so was a little let down food amazing price was good but drink service needs working on

We have visited Giggling Squid several times as it’s my son’s favorite restaurant, so we chose to return for his birthday. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, and it makes me wonder if there has been a change in management or the chef, as the food quality was not up to the standard we’ve experienced before. We ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid as a starter and also requested one as a main meal. However, all of the squid was brought out together as starters. When I mentioned this to the waiter and explained that one was meant to be a main meal, he replied, “I’ll take it back and just reheat it for when you’re ready!” When the main course was brought out, the squid was stone cold. It was returned to the kitchen and reappeared within minutes, which made me suspect it had just been microwaved. We also had the Giggling Wings as a starter, which were cold, very dry, and burnt. To make matters worse, there was a hair in one of our main dishes. When the bill arrived, we noticed we had been overcharged for some meals. Although the waiter did correct the bill, I felt the manager was watching us closely as we paid, especially since we used a mix of cash and card. As we were getting our coats, I saw the manager question the waiter and double-check the bill, which gave the impression we weren’t trusted to have paid correctly. Overall, it was a really poor experience, and we won’t be returning, which is such a shame. We were excited to share this restaurant with others who hadn’t been before, but they have also said they won’t be returning after this experience.

When making an online booking, an 'any special requests' section presents itself to which one assumes, any information will be honoured. In this case, we stated that it was my daughter's 21st birthday meal and we asked quite simply - could she be wished 'Happy Birthday'. Despite the humungous '21 Today' badge pinned on her jacket and the 'It's My Birthday Today ' Tiara she wore - not one member of staff acknowledged the event. I kept waiting and remained silent simply because I genuinely thought that maybe, they were going to quietly acknowledge the event at the end of the meal or say something to her after payment was made and before we left. Obviously, she was none the wiser but the rest of us were really disappointed. I have never had this experience before from a restaurant, in all the years that my family has booked birthday meals at restaurants and notified them that it was a birthday meal, the birthday person has always been made to feel special. This was my first time eating at Giggling Squid and to be honest, this omission marred the experience of wanting to try them again even just for a regular, no event meal.

Great place to wind down and dine out. Definitely recommend.

Nice food! Nice place, amazing staff

What a delightful experience! The food and drinks were top-notch, and I loved how knowledgeable and friendly our server was. She made sure my daughter had all her questions answered and genuinely cared about our needs. My niece couldn’t get enough of her noodles, which was a huge win! Overall, everything was perfect, and I can’t wait to come back!

Delightful meal at this Thai restaurant. The green Thai curry with jasmine rice was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The vegetarian spring rolls were crispy and paired well with the dipping sauce, while the pork dumplings were juicy and well-seasoned. The egg fried rice was a satisfying side, though it could have used a touch more flavor. Drinks-wise, the orange juice was fresh, and Thai Sabai cocktail was well-prepared and complemented the meal nicely. Service was attentive, and the ambiance was cozy. A great spot for Thai food lovers!

In all honesty, was pretty disappointed, order was taken wrong and took ages to be corrected, starters ended up being lovely, mains I was pulling hard prawn shells out of my mouth on a battered prawn, was then told "well it's soft shell" by the waiter, then when the cocktail we ordered came and it was undrinkable from the bitterness the waitress told us this is how it should come, won't be coming back

We recently went to Giggling Squid, and it was absolutely delicious! The food was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and beautifully presented. The service was brilliant—friendly, attentive, and it really felt like nothing was too much trouble. It’s such a lovely place with a great atmosphere, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. Food is very good, well prepared, tasty and spot on. However, the dishes are a little expensive and as such not quite as good value for money as other Thai restaurants. The pub has recently undergone a visual refurbishment which makes it seem like a not-very-special chain restaurant. You would NOT take your friends here to impress them. In the refurb. it had lost a LOT of its previous charm. The exterior is beautiful, the interior rather tacky. Table service very good. The in-house ginger drinks were much, much too sweet. Overall a disappointment mainly due to price and experience not matching up. We spent £160 for four of us. We all ate a further snack when we arrived home. Possibly not money well spent.

Attended as a party of 8 for a birthday/Christmas celebration. Was very underwhelmed by the food. Every one of our dishes was served barely lukewarm. It was EXTREMELY expensive for the amount of food. £38 got me 4 prawns for a starter with a few bits of veg etc, a small cereal bowl of chicken with veg and then had to order rice in order to make it a substantial meal at extra cost. I understand there is an increase in running restaurants but this was seriously the worst value for money I've ever seen. To top it off a £30 service charge added and when refused to pay the waiter made it plainly obvious he wasn't happy about it. Would never go back.

Superb food! The Massaman curry was fabulous. The restaurant was cozy and warm. A lovely atmosphere to relax in after a long day of antique shopping. The staff were quite friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place. I will be trying to replicate the dish I had as soon as I get back home to the US!

Initially very positive feeling and friendly staff welcome. Down hill from there. Had to ask for my drink twice because it was totally forgotten. Turned out they had run out of draft beer. I then opted for a wine which got lost as well. When it arrived they put it in front of my wife instead of me even though she was already holding a full glass. The starters were ok. A bit greasy which killed any flavour except for chilli. But still ok. The main was almost dumped in my lap and the waitress used my napkin to halfheartedly clean what she spilt on the table. My napkin was replaced from 4 feet away as she casually tossed me a new one, without even speaking, on her next pass. Why is it always the places with terrible service that make include a service charge in the bill? I tip good service but I was taxed for a very amateur service A far fall from the last time we ate there. Won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Had a fantastic meal here , myself and my wife came here on recommendation of my son. The food was excellent Ranieri, our waiter, was very nice and friendly and will definitely come here again.

Came here with my sister for lunch. Well what a lovely place to come eat. Starters we had golden money bags and pork dumplings. Absolutely amazing. Fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. Main was sticky chicken with coconut rice, and a jumbo king prawn pad Thai , the flavours and presentation and taste was sublime. Drinks I had a coke, sister had wine. The Thai prawn crackers were Awsome just bit spicy for my liking lol 😂 Staff were adorable, and so kind. Well done team deffo coming again.

I really enjoyed the food, very filling and so delicious! I loved that they had mini dessert options, as I wanted something sweet at the end of the meal but didn’t want a full dessert! The first bite was so good that I had to stop talking to enjoy it. Staff were very kind and friendly

The restaurant was freezing,many people wearing their coats,we requested sitting in another seat(we were upstairs)but staff were not very helpful,a huge table of about 10 were moved,...our white wine was luke warm,food also not very hot,plates were cold, but tastes were really good,,would probably only return in the summer!!!!

Royal fisherboat curry and panang cake were must orders !!! So so good (if you're familiar with Thai cuisine the curry was like a less spicy Tom Yum. I had it with coconut rice which was very good). They were out of Thai tea unfortunately :( but the desert made up for it. Laura was a great server!! Recommended a dish to my dad which he loved :) would def go again

Really regretted booking this for my birthday. The manager on duty was so passive aggressive and we were rushed so much that we actually didn’t enjoy the atmosphere. The food was very nice compliments to the chef but the experience with the 2 gentleman who were not the waiter I believe they were the managers on 16/11 was awful. We called to say we were running late due to an accident but got there on the 15minute grace period. The other table in front of us were allowed long even though they came before us but we were told 7 pm sharp we need to vacate. Appalling customer service. We still paid service charge as the waitress was lovely

The menu has changed and it is now seemingly a lot hotter than previously. We preferred the old recipes/ dishes. Usually we love everything on the menu, so this was disappointing

Service was for our meal was good, although initially when we walked in, we were ignored. No one looked at us. Not good and we are return customers. Had satay chicken to start which was amazing. I had the garlic hake. The fish was a little dry if im honest but amazing flavour. Large portion too. We had a couple of cocktails which were nice. Only given a 4 star because of intial feeling we were given. We were there to spend good money too. Staff should visit Bill's in the center as they know how to meet and great!

We had such a great time in Giggling squid. We had heard very good things about it and decided to go there for a special dinner one evening. The ambience is perfect for a cosy meal. Sindhu helped us pick all the dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. Holly was such a polite server. For starters, we ordered the delicious duck spring roll. We had the Melting beef and Pad Thai for mains. For cocktails, we had a margarita and a lychee mojitos - both were great. I would definitely visit again. Thanks Sindhu for such amazing suggestions!

Delicious food - pork dumplings and belly pork both cooked to perfection. We were warmly welcomed back by Ranieri, who remembered that our favourite wine is Picpoul de Pinet! Very impressive! Both wine and water were served promptly and this was swiftly followed by delicious food. The location is great too - hard to beat Tombland backing on to the magnificent cathedral.

Visited for a midweek lunch and ordered from the set menu, although we were only aware of these options from the website and not offered in the restaurant. Food was delicious - vegan set meal in particular - but unfortunately our drinks were forgotten and only arrived at the end of the meal

This was my first visit to this venue, I live in Spain and was visiting my family who took my out for lunch one day. Great looking venue from the outside, very welcoming once you step inside. All staff very nicely dressed in a very smart casual but professional style. Plenty of seating to be had both downstairs and upstairs, the place was very clean and tidy, once shown to our table we were given menus. A very wide range of foods to choose from also a good selection of drinks. The food was very well presented and tasted as good as it looked. The venue is popular as by the time we left there were a lot of people, we had booked so it pays to be sure you can get a table. We even had a visit from I think was the owner Andy who asked about our meal etc which to me gives that little bit extra to what was a great experience as it shows the owners care about their clientele. Many thanks for a very pleasant lunchtime experience. Next time I visit the UK and my family I will come to this restaurant again.

Ranieri, our server was amazing. Attentive and funny. The food was something out of this world. Satays and dips and duck spring rolls where a taste sensation. The salmon was lovely. The Thai green curry with slow cooked beef was something out of this world. Thank you for an awesome evening.

Food was, as always, absolutely delicious and arrived very quickly. Staff were all friendly and we weren’t left waiting. The toilets were nice and clean as well. We were served by Beth and Jamal who were amazing.

Had the sticky chicken, jasmine rice, and pak choi and tender stems. Service friendly and efficient. Food arrived within minutes of ordering, which concerned me, was this just a microwave job? Sticky chicken, very little chicken, more batter than anything else. Rice nice. Greens, quite hard, could if done with a couple more secs in the microwave. Not the best meal I have had at GS Norwich. Hardly anybody in the restaurant at 1pm. Better experience at the one in Bury.

Beautiful decor, lovely setting. The staff were attentive and informative and the food was lovely. The only thing I thought was a bit cheeky is that they included the tip themselves within the bill. Although we always give a tip but the tip is based on our experience but that's our choice what we give.

Went for lunch. Very pleasant staff. Ordered 8 of the little dishes. Delicious and beautifully printed. Good value. Will definitely go back. Recommend a visit.

Myself and 2 other friends came for an evening meal as a goodbye meal as I was leaving the company. Food and wine was absolutely amazing. Thank you very much to Beth for waiting on us and giving us knowledge on the food to make sure we got the most authentic thai dish. We were a bit taken aback when there was a massive influx of tables that arrived around us and we could barely move, nor could the waitresses to serve the guests. We then felt uncomfortable and in the way - which shouldn’t have been the case. It’s great to see such a business thrive, however just consider the impacts to other guests when you don’t correctly have enough space between tables etc.

All the staff were friendly and our waitress, Sinddu was knowledge and funny.

The restaurant itself is lovely, but for a Thai restaurant it's not very Thai 😕 The starter we had was delicious, my wife had the Massaman curry but she said it wasn't as good as the one I make. I had a noodle dish that was quite greasy, the chocolate dessert was good 😊. Would I go again? Probably not. After "living" in Thailand for nearly 8 months I know what good restaurants, and usual restaurants, are like. Unless you ask for "less spicy" you get mouth melting hot food. Beer in one posh place was served so cold it's froth was frozen. The Massaman there was unbelievable so tasty. There is no comparison unfortunately 😔.

Absolutely fantastic. Best Thai food I’ve had. The restaurant is gorgeous, food is phenomenal and the service is exceptional. Came in 2023 and have been looking forward to it ever since. Just had our second visit in 2024 and it did not disappoint. Worth the trip from Canada ;)

Great service and wonderful place to eat. Sadly I had the Pad Kee Mao Chicken and I had no noodles.

Bland food and very expensive. The portion size was so small. Normally in restaurants of this cuisine a noodle dish or rice dish would feed two. Never have I ever seen such a small portion of rice at this price. Was expecting great flavours and it was so tasteless. Our bill for two was extortionate and a service charge to boot. Avoid.

Sat outside for a meal with a colleague. The outdoor tables are basic but this was outweighed by the attentive service and amazing food! We had starters and mains, the main courses in particular were outstanding. The bill was very reasonable and included a service charge which is helpful for a business meal. Will definitely return.

I've had a couple of celebrations at the Norwich Giggling Squid and both were enjoyed greatly. The staff always went above and beyond for me and the food is always on point. The venue is stunning and love that you can sit outside on a beautiful summers day, and giving it next to the stunning cathedral is just another reason to visit. So my last party of guests were nearly 30 people, which for a lunch sitting and again the staff were amazing and helped in every way. Given we were so many I thought the food and service may falter, but it didn't and everyone loved it just as much as me. Thanks again Norwich restaurant staff.

First time customer here and must admit how clean and tidy everything thing was The staff were excellent and had a good knowledge of the food on offer which was great as my wife has an allergy to fish sauce. Overall well impressed with the hole experience Will definitely be going back
