Wagamama in Chichester

As an Asian I can say Wagamama is not traditional if you expected it is Japanese food, but they are creative and make things tasty.

Can't beat a waggamammas and the Chichester one in particular has lovely friendly staff

I like this wagammas. Each time I've been the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is always good aswell 👍

There was alot of people in Wagamamas and throught that we there going to not get a seat, eventually we got a table for two, The crispy chicken was very good and the rice was soo good. Overall 5/5 Would recommend.

Went for an early Saturday lunch to beat the rush and it was delicious as always.

On this occasion the chicken in the katsu dish was dry and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and refried again today. Not very impressed.

We were disappointed by the portion sizes...especially rice... ordered two bowls of rice... still not enough...

Delicious food. Free green tea is a nice bonus. Nice place, good food, friendly service, reasonable prices. Some of the tables have a cafeteria-like layout, which doesn't allow for an intimate atmosphere. Some tables are separated by dividing walls, creating a cozy and more intimate setting. It can get very loud here, and the noise level is so high that it makes conversation difficult. We've been here many times. We've tried various dishes, dined in, and ordered takeout. Everything has always been tasty.

Had shirodashi pork belly ramen last night. Found the noodles a bit stodgy/sticky and the pork and the broth too light in flavour for my palate…..but overall very good efforts at East & South East Asian dishes and very good service.

Wagamama's was brilliant. Food was great and service was attentive as you would expect. Good food served in a timely manner too. Happy to go back here again.

We were looked after so well by Rob and Charlotte, who were both really helpful with our dietary requirements (vegan and gluten-free). They both took the time to chat and tell us about the menu, and also the local area, things to do and see, and were both just really warm, friendly, and kind people. They went above and beyond to make us happy 😊 The food was lovely too! Wished we lived closer. A really great branch of Wagamamas.

Lovely evening having dinner and I wanted to especially Thomas (with the tats incase there's more than one Thomas) he was lovely and so sweet and provided excellent service.

I enjoyed a lunch with the family. The food was fabulous & the coffee was the best I have had in a long time. The staff were helpful.

We arrived 1 hour before closing, to a very warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and energetic, and the food was excellent!

Wagamama get it right at every premises I visited Just taken 3 colleagues for lunch under £65 with drinks. Service quick, staff polite, food 1st grade No parking here but park a little further out and walk it's easy. Clean and not noisy, kids welcome A solid restaurant

We've been ordering takeaway from here several times per month for the last few years. The food is ridiculously good and the staff are so lovely and friendly, we always feel welcomed and looked after. However, we tend to celebrate on the very rare occasion that they actually get our correct. Either missing dishes, or wrong dishes are unfortunately the norm. We always call and they sort the problem quickly, but they're unable to deliver replacement dishes, meaning we have to drive all the way back to get it corrected. We now check every time we leave, but still get nasty surprises when we open the food at home. If you're going to keep getting it wrong, maybe look at your delivery policy when you make mistakes. You make a lot of money from us and we're getting tired of it now.

No men's toilets available on the building. My food came out tasting burnt, from what I can only assume is an unclean wok. Staff could have handled the situation better. Manager did not even come to talk to me.

Just a normal wagamama eatery, good as ever.

Squid tasted awful, like the smell of sewage, unwashed salad on the katsu curry, all tasted of nothing - bland, squid made me ill, horrible wouldn’t go again

We dined at wagamamas on Saturday and we were astonished at the level of friendliness and service we experienced. Harry (manager) was the nicest and most genuine person who seated us and took our order. We are big fans of this restaurant anyway but we had such a lovely meal there, it really ‘made’ our weekend. We will be back! Thankyou so much Harry!

Me and my friend Lizzy went in today and we were served by Harry and he is a absolute sweetheart he's got such good customer service skills he's very welcoming and funny and recommended the best fries prawns ever really wonderful restaurant

Was asked if I minded having calories displayed on my menu (important for those who are bothered or can't just skim over this information I suppose!). No issue when I asked could I have just the children's menu even though dining alone. (Dietary needs mean an adult portion is often too much for me and results in wasted food). My only criticism is that the noise level is so high, even of a lunch time - the canteen style layout doesn't allow for an intimate atmosphere for dining.

Incredible service! The front of house member of staff that served me for my take out order couldn’t have been more helpful.

Ordered vegatsu udon and they sent me chicken! Absolutely disgusted and seen on another 1 star review this has happened before. Be warned if you are vegan/veggie! Such a shame as Wagamamas is usually so great for vegans but this has made me lose trust massively.

Our one and only 'go to' restaurant in Chichester and the only one we really go to in the whole of England all year as we live on a very limited income. Satisfaction always guaranteed! the food is so fresh, cooked to order, absolutely overflowing with flavours, so delicious!!! I went there for my retirement celebration dinner last week and Molly our waitress made it extra special for me - made sure I got a slice of the White Chocolate & Ginger Cheesecake which is often gone by the time I order dessert and, when I couldn't eat it all as I had had very filling main course, she put what remained in a takeaway bowl with her own message on it - 'Happy Retirement, Wagas xoxo' - how sweet was that! Molly looked after us brilliantly throughout our whole meal - she was very friendly, attentive, always smiling. My partner and I always order the same dishes as we know that we will love them - Chilli Squid (so tender so it must be very fresh), Prawn Kushiyaki (yummy flavoured huge Catherine Wheels of prawn), Pad Thai with chicken & prawn, and Teriyaki Soba with steak and Udon noodles instead of Soba. It's great that you can choose between Soba, Udon and Rice noodles. Green tea is free. My glass of Pino Grigio was huge and lasted through the starter and main dishes. What more can I say? - best restaurant I've ever eaten in..... and I used to eat out a lot more plus my daughters treat me to ones in London sometimes.... and Wagamama's Chichester comes out top!!!

Over priced for what you get, the katsu curry was mainly rice. Expensive cocktail for a tiny glass full of ice! Service was so slow not their fault just clearly understaffed.

Worked at and opened new Wagamama's in London some years back. Portion size always disappoints in this particular branch as I found out many times from both their take aways and dinning in, definitely isn’t done to their spec. Raised this issue on my last visit with manager who assured me line checks have been completed and offered me an extra chicken to which I refused since he was so adamant it’s all correct, see photo… 2 smallest pieces of chicken I have ever seen at Wagamama's. Even cuts that are meant to be presentable and sliced at an angle were sloppy and tiny (especially sad noticing line was run by both sauce chef and team leader who should know better). Take aways that we occasionally order are always short of expectations and not once was it totally correct. Disappointing experience every time. If it wasn’t for the fact that my son loves his noodles I would never re visit. For real experience Visit Kingston/Wimbledon/Putney branches!

Getting expensive for pretty average food.

We came in with a voucher asked if they take the voucher they said yes and when we got to paying the bill they said they don’t take it mix up with the food orders and drinks not a good experience was expecting more!!

I left feeling hungry after an expensive but insubstantial meal. I can’t remember the name of the dish but it consisted mainly of hot chilli water with a few noodles and vegetable skins floating therein. Also around four tiny packets of macerated chicken gunk. The restaurant, although not busy, was excessively noisy. Staff were nice and efficient.

Seems this restaurant has had a bit of a makeover since last there, looks good. You know it's going to be noisy in there due to lack of soft furnishings, but today, Thursday evening, pretty quiet. Like you can now pay the bill at your table with your phone. Great food, as always.

Visited this week as a group of 6 plus a baby. We had some catching up to do as our fabulous friends were back in the uk from Portugal. Our waiter was a smiley young man called Tom who looked after us perfectly, patiently allowing a far to chatty group to make menu choices and returning to check all was well and offer more drinks, desert etc. Well done Tom and many thanks for looking after us, your doing a great job and this review is for you to say thank you.

Nicely presented restaurant serving good food , especially liked my pad thai noodles with great draught asahi , Waitresses were very pleasant and attentive , 5 stars for them .

Delicious food! They no longer offer a seafood ramen but I asked if I could have prawns thrown in with my veggie ramen and they had no problem with that, and for just an additional £3 as well. Really friendly staff working there ☺️

I have been to multiple Wagamama’s and definitely always have the best experience here. The staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic! Would recommend.

Myself and my children have visited this restaurant probably over 50 times over the years as I take them out for supper every Wednesday evening. Our order was taken and we requested no bean sprouts in the children’s food, when the food arrived there’s had bean sprouts in it and my food never arrived ( spicy miso mackerel ) 30 mins later the waitress Molly asked if I still had not received my food. At this point my children had finished their meals and I was no longer hungry so asked to speak with the manager (Tommy) and explained the situation to him. His response was truly staggering, he proceeded to tell me that I should have complained sooner, even though their policy is to just bring the food out at random times. I told him that I was not happy paying for food that they had got wrong, he took this off the bill but said that he was not willing to do anything else. My first ever job was a restaurant manager in an award winning restaurant so I know as a manager your first job is to hold your hands up when you get something wrong and you bend over to make the situation better as your reputation is everything. I would recommend to Wagamama that they send Tommy on a refreshment managers course before he cripples this branch or at least teach him how to look a customer in the eye when he is speaking to them! We will not be going back to Wagamama any time soon, such a shame as we have had many a good meal and memories here.

After a lucky escape at Bill's restaurant we were seated and fed quickly on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Food always faultless at Wagamama and speedy service so hungry children can get fed 🖤

Not good service here...and been here a few times. Whenever we can, we go to the one in Gunwharf.

Thoroughly recommend Chichester Wagamamas. I was met by a big smile from lovely Harry who couldn’t have been more accommodating and kind. Great food as always.

I know the food comes out at different times. But to order some broccoli on the side of our mains, then just the broccoli comes out 10 minutes before the first main dish is a bit poor on the chef's behalf. It meant that not even 1 person got to eat the broccoli with their main dish.

Food was the usual, tasty, but on the slightly pricey side. Particularly £8 for wat is basically a cut up corn on the cob . Service a bit hit and miss on the slow side.

A different experience to our previous one at the whitely branch. Well organised and the staff friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with generous helpings.

Food is always delicious and the staff are lovely. Food for takeout usually arrives hot and on time. Only issue is the portion sizes for takeout- they seem to give you less when not eating in. Too many noodles in the ramen soak up all the broth by the time it gets to you, and barely fills half of the takeout bowl. We ordered a side of pan fried greens last time and literally got 3 pieces of broccoli 🤣 wouldn't mind but it isn't cheap!

One main meal was delayed so long that the other had been finished when it finally arrived. Hot food on cold plates is not clever especially with random arrivals. No milk for coffee is truly pathetic. Could do better.

Would've been a five star but had nearly eaten my mains before hubbies came. Plus we had to ask for our 2nd starter and it came up when we nearly finished! Fab service and excellant food

My partner and I are always quick to decide where to eat out with this Wagamama! Staff are always super friendly and service is quick! Definitely a better experience if you get one of the booths as it makes it an intimate dinner. Always love the food from here and its our go to if we haven't got any plans for dinner!

Quite possibly the most disappointing meal I’ve had at Wagamamas. I’ve frequented a few and they’ve always been really good, I always order the same meal and had this been my first experience I definitely wouldn’t have come back again. Firstly the prices have gone up which is to be expected in this current climate however I wasn’t expecting the meal size to be smaller and missing ingredients that were previously there. Fairly unlikely I’ll be returning to this branch.

My wife and I have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions over the years and have always enjoyed the food and service provided. On this occasion our visit was spoiled by the disgusting state of the toilets, which we reported to two staff, and who informed us that they would report it to management at our request. Hopefully they did report it and action was taken. We have only noticed the toilet issue since the introduction of unisex cubicles and never had a problem prior to this change. I would suggest that the restaurant reverts to the previous system. Admittedly one cubicle is designated specifically for ladies, but on the date of our visit (23.12.22) it was signposted as out of action. My wife struggled to use the toilet, because the bowl, floor and surroundings were so dirty. When I used the toilet later, and after we had reported it, the cubicle I used was in a similar state and stank. It is particularly difficult for ladies, due to the fact that they have to sit. Toilets in public buildings need to be monitored and cleaned on a frequent basis, but there was no evidence of such a system being in place. If there is a system in place it needs to be improved and checks made and reported on a monitoring chart by staff at least hourly. We will visit the restaurant again, because we usually enjoy the Wagamama experience, but top of my list will be to check if things have improved in the toilet area. I would have scored this review 5*, but for the toilet issue, which is totally unacceptable in a place where food is served.

Manager out of control- no idea how to run a restaurant. Lucky a strong team around (especially Arthur) keeping things running!

We waited for half an hour to be sat down despite being told it wouldn’t be long, when we sat down we were ready to order and were told by the manager that we couldn’t order as he had a weak team in the kitchen. Would’ve been a 1* review if it wasn’t for arthur, a great bloke with amazing banter who empathised with our situation with exceptional charm and wit. He said he was explicitly told not to take our food order by the manager despite us waiting for half an hour. Arthur’s service was exceptionally friendly and he is a credit to the workplace and he definitely would have a place in my company anytime. As I am writing this arthur came over and said goodbye as he has been sent home on a day when the staff are already struggling hence the review being altered to a 1*. I don’t know who the manager is but he needs to work somewhere else.

Great food as always but terrible service. First member of staff began by saying how much he wanted to go home. Didn't get our order taken for over 15 minutes and it wasn't busy. Staff couldn't be bothered with us. I love wagamama but will avoid this branch in future

Lovely service! Always seated quickly with our orders taken as soon as we decide on drinks or food. The staff are attentive and friendly. They do great deals for students with me and another university friend getting great deals like a free Katsu curry which was hot and delicious. the free green tea is always a hit

After a busy and cold Christmas shopping trip in Chichester, Wagamama is the only place to be warmed up by tasty authentic food along with friendly and knowledgeable service. Tom looked after my wife and I and directed us to the ramen! He advised us the Gyoza Ramen was a little spicy and suggested the chilli paste on the side to add to our personal taste. PERFECT. Just what I needed after being dragged around M&S all afternoon. We had a great time from the moment we were greeted until it was time to say goodbye. I'll be back (on boxing day) after my wife has dragged me round the sales.

Lukewarm food, slow service bad experience

Went on a busy Friday evening and our server, Alex, looked after us well. Food was lovely, service was as quick as they could do it. Clean and well presented wagamamas. Don't recommend the alcohol free beer though was vile.

Myself & my kids enjoyed a really nice late lunch / early dinner at Wagamama. The service was excellent, the servers were able to talk us through the menu & what was good. 2 vegetarians & 2 meat eaters were well catered for. Lots of choice - it took us ages to decide. I ordered the shu’s shiok jackfruit. My vegetarian child had the teriyaki vegan ch’ckn ramen & the meat eaters had chicken ramen. And a side of bang bang cauliflower which was lush. My jackfruit dish was very nice. A big bowl of flavour. 2 children were unable to finish their food & got doggy bags. The other are everything. Very reasonably priced. Lots of choice. Great service. Patient servers. No complaints from me. Can’t wait to return.

I ordered the vegan vegatsu and they gave me chicken. Never had that happen to me in 31 years. Gutted and disgusted.

I got served by Maria & Dan. Both were very friendly & efficient. I had some fabulous cocktails including a Lychee collins. The mixed mushroom bao bun had great textures and flavours. I also had Shu's shiok chicken+rice with extra tea egg/kimchi and pickles!! Just amazing. I was always taught to try new things- This is a great place to start if your scared... All the food is gauranted yum and the servers are enthusiastic about the food they offer.

Saturday night 10.00pm needed food all other outlets closesd!! Welcomed in by the lovely waitress Alison. As some of the party were Wagama virgins. Alison went through the menu. Listened ,made recommendations and was attentive throughout. Great food and excellent service. Thanks Alison

I used to eat at Wagamama's regularly, for quality ingredients, tasty food and good vegetarian - vegan options. Returned to it after a year's break to find menu and quality of food has deteriorated badly. Vegetable gyozo like tough Cornish Pasties, covered in uncooked flour. A mushroom ramen so salty it almost makes you gag, topped with yellowed coriander and soggy tofu. I sent the meal back uneaten. I was told this is 'just how the menu is now'. Will not be eating at any Wagamama branch again.

I thought I'd treat my daughter to dinner out as she had a baby 3 weeks ago and has only just felt like a full day out and about. We always go to a wagamama. So thought we would pop to Chichester for a change. We have been several times before and like all of your restaurants it has always been fantastic. Today was a very different experience! The waitress was absolutely lovely, no complaints about her at all. The food on the other hand... We had the prawns (with the lime half can't think of the name) which were decidedly tough and yet bouncy. The steamed chicken gyōza were very Bland, then came the pork belly ramen.... I say pork belly, there was next to no meat and what there was, resembled over cooked crispy bacon. It was nothing like we have had previously in any of your restaurants, and we've been to them weekly for several years! The broth was Bland, hardly anything other than noodles. We were left incredibly disappointed and hungry! Where we normally struggle to get through the food as there's so much! My daughter had cloudy lemonade which tasted more like water with a squirt of jiff lemon in it. I can honestly say it's put us off.

First time at wagamama chichester, absolutely brilliant, staff couldn't be nicer with special thanks to Maria, food was amazing, this has become our favourite restaurant. Thank you all at wagamama chichester.
