Been shut for months and the lovely people thier just couldn't be bothered to tell you

Unfortunately now closed permanently ( sign says for the forceable future

The food was greasy and I felt we had leftovers in our delivery - normally it is lovely

We ordered on a Tuesday evening, food was delivered in good time, although egg fried rice seemed to have no egg in and the food in general was not well seasoned. The most tasty dish was squid but the chicken chow mean was burnt.

Had hoped to visit this restaurant. Slightly unusual arrangement in that you have to book to eat in from 5pm on the day. Dishes enjoyable and flavourful. Staff friendly and attentive. Would visit again.

I went in for a takeaway this evening. My partner is coeliac, and the guys in there couldn't have been more helpful. They even switched ingredients so he could still have some of the dishes he wanted. The food was so tasty, it was the nicest Chinese we have had in a long time!

Surprised to find no dine-in option on a Saturday …. even more surprised that they have no online menu to be able to order from for the takeaway option offered when we phoned to make reservation. Not a great way to run a restaurant !! If you only do takeaway then show this in your online presence…

Food was great as always, but let down by the attitude of one of the owners (family business). We’ve always enjoyed meals here but the rudeness of the owner was too much-so much so it really upset my wife. Won’t be back. It’s not the only place one can get Chinese in Selsey.

Lovely restaurant, great food, huge portions and very reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. This is one of the only places to serve food in Selsey at 8pm. This was a return visit because it really is excellent, we had previously had a takeaway from them in July.

Went in to try and order food, got told we were not a priority over takeaway orders and would have to wait over an hour, this is despite a mark-up for eating in and an empty restaurant. Staff were rude and didn’t really seem like they wanted us there. Would avoid and go to the lovely Lal food and cocktail bar next door… either that or order takeaway 😂😂😂

We are regular customers of this Chinese restaurant, both eating in and having takeaways. It is always so good, the staff are really friendly and we have never had a bad meal. We recently went on holiday and had a Chinese from a restaurant where we were staying. It wasn’t until we tasted this food that we realised quite how spoilt we are to have the Summer Palace in Selsey!

Nice food, good value for money

I received our first delivery from the Summer Palace last night. It arrived exactly on time, still hot and well packaged. The food was delicious, crispy duck and all accoutrements provided us with a veritable feast. I shall definitely order from them again. It was a great experience.

Great family run business. Food is lovely and priced fairly. Family running it work exceptionally hard to keep customers happy, which sometimes is not an easy job.

Used this restaurant to eat in and have take always regularly over last 5 years.Never been disappointed.

My family decided on a Chinese for dinner for our last night on holiday and we picked the Summer Palace. Sadly on Saturday they aren't open for dining in as the restaurant itself was impeccably clean and well decorated. We decided to take away instead and the gentleman behind the counter was absolutely inundated with orders from the telephone as well as customers in person but he always made an effort to talk to everyone, was courteous and extremely helpful and amicable. We placed our order and despite how busy it was it was ready in 15 minutes and was surprisingly low priced. Once we got back to enjoy our meal and tucked in it was absolutely perfect. I cannot overstate how delicious everything was, from the chow mein to the bean curd with ginger and spring onions (which was the absolute highlight of the meal as it was just THAT good. Not to mention the mouthwatering smell). When we holiday in Selsey again we will definitely be returning and my only regret is that we didn't find it sooner! 10/10, I would highly recommend.

I had my first takeaway from Summer Palace last night and it certainly won't be the last. Very friendly and welcoming. Warned me that Mandarin spare ribs would have white chewy bits on the bones, which they did and were delicious. Mildly spicy and succulent. Other ribs without crunchy bits are available. Beef with ginger and spring onions and beef chow mein were more delicately flavoured but equally good. I wish they had fried crispy pork belly on the menu but you can't have everything. This is definitely the best Chinese in Selsey, no disrespect to the others, which I've also tried.

I’m sad to say this is a terrible Chinese. We had a delivery so can’t speak for the restaurant but the sauces we received were unrecognisable and looked like some sort of blobby liquid jelly. Would definitely not use this one again :(

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. Some of the reviews weren’t great but thought we’d try it. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived with customers and takeaway orders but we didn’t wait long for a table. Phtty was really friendly and polite and served our drinks promptly. I asked if he could recommend anything from the menu, he said the smoked chicken starter and bang bang chicken main were his dads recipes, we ordered both and they were absolutely delicious, the rest of our dishes were delicious too and we finished everything. Probably the best Chinese food I’ve tasted in a long time. We will definitely be returning, especially for that smoked chicken, yum! The service was also great! (Squish)

We are staying in a local holiday park and friends had recommended this restaurant as they deliver. We phoned them up, placed our order, were quoted full price including nominal delivery charge, food was delivered on under 30 minutes piping hot. Can't fault it.

Ordered food for delivery (told 15-20mins). Arrived at the house 5mins later (I live half a mile away), half the food was lukewarm and the other stuff so hot it could only have been in a microwave. This place was once nice. Now charges top prices (for a local) and falls flat on its face with the product. Loyalty has gone out the window, never ordering from here again.

A very tasty experience. Great variety of spice and heat, succulent meats, we had beef and chicken dishes. Thought we had ordered too much, but ate it all as was so delicious 🥰 The food was hot and service excellent.

First time visiting Golden Palace, small friendly restaurant. Service by Fatty was good and we did t have to wait long for search course. Food was delicious and plentiful. Would highly recommend eating in or takeaway

Very busy tonight, well worth the wait, piping hot and delicious food very tasty 5 stars.

We visited during the Covid 19 restrictions and found the restaurant well spaced with ample distance between customers, so not all the tables could be used. Most of the business was takeaways and we could see why the locals gave the restaurant a busy turnaround. The food was excellent. The waiter worked his socks off providing a superb service looking after the customers, seated and takeaway. Definitely recommend the restaurant.

Ordered delivery from here while on holiday in the area. Staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was very tasty and good value.

Ordered a takeaway on Friday evening in August based on a recommendation. Very busy, would not give a collection time, wanted to take a phone number and call when ready. This took 1 hour, although they estimated 45 minutes. We ordered: - Chips - average - Egg fried rice - average - Dry Fried Spare Ribs Chilli Spice Salt - Funny colour, but probably the best tasting dish. - Dim Sum - Not that tasty - Satay Chicken - Sauce very gloopy, not that nice. - Bang Bang Chicken - Very unappetizing, not hot and spicy. Contained a few red chillies, but not that hot. - King Prawns with Ginger and Spring Onions - very average - Scallops in Garlic and Black Bean Sauce - Disgusting This was not a good takeaway and would not recommend or use again.

A massive thank you to Summer Palace, Selsey! I made a massive blunder this evening by booking online for food from Summer Palace, only to be advised on my arrival in Selsey that they don’t have ordering online! Immediately I was advised to contact the number online and cancel the order. This i did and was refunded! Thank you Summer Palace Liverpool! Lol Well, I ordered in person at Summer Palace Selsey and was very impressed with the level of customer service. The food was super hot and was sooooo delicious! We will definitely be back! And again, thank you!

The Chinese was easy to get during covid-19 as we orded over the phone. The wait wasnt long and the food was delicious! The prices where really good for the amount of food we had and we would defently recommend this Chinese to anyone!

Decided to try the summer palace, small but personal. Greeted straight away even though the waiter was on the phone taking an order. Seated next to a window at the back of the restaurant, few cracks in the plaster and the wallpaper had obviously been ripped off by the constant seating of customers. The heating was on thank God as it was freezing outside. My husband ordered chicken satay and I ordered aromatic lamb both very nice. We had roast pork and cashew nuts, king po chicken special rice and boiled. Again very nice. I asked the waiter with regards to allergies as my daughter is a coeliac and always looking for a restaurant to eat that makes her feel normal. He went off and came back and gave me all the recommendations of what she could and couldnt eat. Very impressed he made the time to find out and will definitely tell my daughter to try the restaurant. Very reasonably priced, however the restaurant needs a little TLC but doesnt take away the fact the food was lovely. They will however be closed on a monday in the near future. New menus being printed at the moment.

On holiday in the area and stopped by for something to eat. There are 3 similar places in the same area and I chose this based on the reviews on here. I ordered the Singapore fried rice and salt and pepper spare ribs. Both tasted great though not as spicy as I wanted. The rice is meant to have prawns in but there weren't any prawns in the rice. Nice clean restaurant if you want to sit and eat there but I had mine to go.

We are new to the area but have eaten here on two consecutive weekends as we so enjoyed the food. Service is friendly and takeaways are also available.

We visited here again this holiday, having been here on 4 previous occasions and it's still as great as it was on all the previous occasions. The staff were helpful and accomodating and the food was great. If you want a place that is consistent on good quality food and great service then this is the place to go.

This is a restaurant we have visited several times now including twice on our most recent visit to selsey in april this year .The food is always excellent & the staff are friendly & helpful . If you like chinese food you'll love this place !

Took my partner for a Valentine's meal yesterday and was very disappointed. Over cooked or reheated and worried about vinegar tasting butterfly prawns??? Vinegar is normally used to hide out of date meats or fish. Anyway my partner spent all night vomiting and other. Seriously thinking of reporting to health and hygiene.

Had take away tonight, now 3am been up for a couple hours with a bad stomach happens after eating rich food I guess, however wife is vomiting badly and suffering a very bad stomach cramps. We’re live locally and don’t normal use this place, unfortunatly we now reminder why.

I visited Summer Palace twice during a recent break in Selsey with my daughter & the food & service were still excellent - the crispy squid was amazing ! The restaurant is stylish yet not too expensive & the staff are friendly & helpful ..

We checked on here to see if this place was still open before we visited Selsey last week and we were pleased to see it was. We ate here again on this trip and it was just as amazing as we remembered it to be. The staff were helpful and approachable, especially Emily and the food was amazing! We have visited summer palace 4 times now over 2 separate holidays and I think its fair to say this is our favourite restaurant in Selsey!

Just ordered from here for delivery to bunn leisure as we are staying there. They will deliver to the park but only to certain drop off points and it is cash only for the delivery. The food was hot, plentiful and delicious. I would recommend you to try it.

The curry from this place really is awful. It is unlike any Chinese curry we have eaten before. It tastes nothing like a curry. The barbecued spare ribs came in what looked more like a gravy they had not been coated in bbq sauce at all.

Went here on a Friday night, no previous booking, and were quickly found a table. Set meal for 2 was very good, and service too notch. Recommended.

We booked for a Saturday night, wasn't busy but for some reason got put out the back which wasn't the greatest ambiance, the waiter was one of the rudest people I've ever experienced to the point that we will never be going back there. As the waiter made no eye contact, had no pad and acted like we we were not there, my friend repeated his drink order, the waiter then said 'I know!! I've been doing this for a very long time you know!!'' he then went off and came back and asked us what out drinks order was (was so tempted to say 'you should remember you've been doing this for a long time you know!!) He brought the drinks and then took our order, again no eye contact at all and kept looking round the corner of the restaurant, looked completely bored with us and also seemed annoyed that we were not ordering a set menu, very abrupt and brisk. Don't need this treatment when you wanting a nice evening out, we were so upset with him that we couldn't wait to get out of there, didn't even bother with another drink and he did he get a tip!!

The worse takeaway we have ever had. DON’T order either the Singapore Noodles, all Noodles, grey in colour, nothing else in it. Squid, dry, hard and no taste.

Eaten here a few time recently, always good, service is always prompt and the specials explained. Usual selection of Chinese food. Plus a reasonable selection of wines. The set menu is varied and the crispy duck is very good. Have manged to park outside out of season and get a table, but in high season, suggest you book. We have also ordered take away's and found them to be good too. Just a note to say at peak times on a Saturday and Friday night the wait for the take away can be quite long, so be prepared, but at least you know the food is fresh! Would recommend

Kids out for the night, got a bottle of wine in... thought we’d order some grub. We’re fairly new to Selsey and still discovering where and where not to eat. Last month we were subjected to 3 days worth of food poisoning from another Selsey take away so we were treading carefully... tried Summer Palace and thought they were great. Ordering was easy, delivery was prompt, but not so much so that’s dubious. Food was gorgeous. Really fresh and didn’t seem like it had been nuked in a microwave several times! We would use again and recommend to friends.

Ordered take away from Summer palace while staying at a local holiday park. The food was quick to be delivered and tasted Delicious! Really enjoyed the food, and the service over the phone and delivery was great!

Paid £17 for 3course takeaway, believe me this was the worst meal I have had, only had Spring rolls which were spongy.Smelled remainder not fit to eat.Returned two courses +rice dish-no refund offered just said talk to us!!!! Please avoid if you value health.
