Wagamama in St Edmundsbury

Five times I’ve ordered vegan meals and five times they’ve had chicken in them.

A lovely birthday celebration, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food (3 generations) and staff were friendly and helpful. My meal was delicious.....ginger chicken with rice noodles.

We had a nice bowl of noodles here. Service was a bit slow even though they weren't busy but the food was as you'd expect.

We had an amazing vegan meal, forgot to take pics but can recommend everything 10/10!! Especially the crispy mushroom and vegan chicken starters, 10/10!

Makes us sit for 10-15 mins to tell us they cant take our order for another 10-15mins, but someone next to us order couple mins before what a joke.

Our favorite place. Very tasty food, stylish interior, good atmosphere, friendly, polite staff (beautiful girls), cleanliness. We come back here every time. It's just a pity that they don't work for long. I would like to come in the evening to celebrate my birthday.

Just want to give both Isaac and Harriet, a big thanks for their helpfulness during me and my gfs time at Wagamamas. I had to complain due to the spicyness of the curry being a tad too much and not what I had before, they then remade the sauce and made a sample for me to see if I like! After saying yes, they then remade the dish and the chef personally took it to the table and apologised for the issue. This restaurant is a compliment to the brand of Wagamamas and I reccomend it to all. Not experienced this before in a restaurant chain.

We went here today for Lunch the Restaurant is very clean,well Run and tye staff are Polite. The food was simply FANTASTIC !!!! So we will Definitely be back !

I came to wagamama to celebrate my exam results and was served by April, she was wonderful in accommodating my friend's allergy. I would recommend visiting for the wonderful food and friendly staff!

This was my first time trying out Wagamama and I was very pleased with the experience. I will definitely be returning. Maruna and Apryl were very kind and patient while we decided what to order. 😊😊

A most enjoyable lunch in a fairly uncrowded eating area, which made a very nice change as noise levels were low! The service was ace, the food outstanding (miso Mackerel and yaki soba) which is why I keep coming back.

Was ok but very heavy on glutamate in all the food. Had a big head ache through that.

It’s a real shame that Wagamama have started to cut the food quality and portion sizes, yet steadily increase the prices. Every dish we had (other than the fried greens) had either come from a different source (as in the squid, which we don’t believe was squid…) or was embarrassingly stretched thin; my partners pork ramen was sliced and looked like bacon, rather than actual meat chunks which is what we had experienced for at least the past half-decade. The fried prawns are half the size, the donburi hides the tiny portions of meat with razor thin vegetables. It’s embarrassing. The staff are very friendly and personally we have nothing against them, but I’m afraid there’s not much attention to actual service or efficiency of service. People are half ignored at front of house. I really hate to say it, but everything about Wagamama seems to have become very shallow. We probably won’t eat here again.

Before was so good I don't know what change ramen horibble couldn't eat it pasta was so over cooked and doesn't look like ramen.. I got picture and is not ok .. I do think I deserve money back.. if thay want take it I got it still ..

A delicious meal that was bursting with flavour. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we were waited on by Siera who was very knowledgeable around the menu and really friendly. Made our experience very enjoyable.

Argh you cannot fault Wagamama ever and the staff here are super friendly and helpful. The food is so delicious always, perfect quality and if my stomach would let me…I’d order more! Always have great service :)

Updated from a previous review. Went in for a late lunch 06/05, it was very busy but the service from Izzy was the best I have had at any Wagamama restaurant. She maintained a very calm composure each time we saw her, and she even stopped to chat about our dish choices which was a really nice touch, I was ordering something I'd never had before so to have her reassurance was lovely. So often restaurant staff are polite but clearly in a rush, so to have someone who took their time to be friendly and chatty was a real breath of fresh air.

Well done to Isaac who went an extra mile to make our experience great, very memorable service with a waiter attending special requests and even turning music down for a noise sensitive customer. After meeting all requirements Isaac still kept checking if everything was ok. We wish the man all the best and I'm sure he will do well in life with such a nice and professional yet friendly attitude. Well done! Probably the best customer service I've ever experienced in my time. Thank you!

Firstly, I am traditionally trained service professional. I tried to contact Wagamama directly, but there is a stupid questionnaire which does not leave much room to comment. First time in this restaurant, I studied the menu for a very long time, would have been nice if a staff member had come over to offer help. Waited a long time for my drink, which I watched sitting on the bar. I did adjustments (no onion,chili) to my meal, no problem. Again, food sat a while on the kitchen counter before being brought to my table ( not busy, 5.30pm). After clearing my empty bowl I was not offered dessert or more drinks. Waited a while to catch someones attention to pay. I had my purse on the table, clearly ready to pay. Staff were slow and not very attentive. Personally, I do not like long nails and nailvarnish for waiting staff, which in a lot places is against H&S rules. The music was very loud. A casual, slow service is all the rage right now and might suit a younger client, but not me. Oh, and one thing i learned on my first day in restaurant training, do not touch a glass at the rim. Or the straw where people put their mouth. Management was sitting on a table next to doing the schedule, with biscuits and energy drink cans on the table. Not a good look. Food? ah yes, Was nice enough, despite what was supposed to be brown rice, I popped to the supermarket and got myself some food to have at home. First and last time for me, sorry.

Lovely, excellent place to eat. The price is a killer for the working class man, but it's worth the it for a treat on special occasions.

First time ever, I loved the food, the girls were all lovely. I will definitely be going back at some point.

Amazing night at wagamama tonight for our table of 17, 5 children and 12 adults. Service was very speedy, all staff were polite and very cheerful. Food was incredible. One of our party was gluten free and commented it being the best experience she's had. Will definately be back.

Outstanding customer service from Maisie, I come here quite regularly and she always goes the extra mile! I had the best Chicken Firecracker Curry I’ve ever had today cooked by Christina! I highly recommended this place and my daughter loves it too!

My last visit here was a long way short of what I'd have expected but this visit was redemption - a huge improvement all round. My miso mackerel was outstanding and the service was attentive and informed. The only small negative was the noise level - not great for those of us with hearing problems. That said, it won't be putting me off to return again and again. Nice improvements Wagamama ! Well done.

3rd time eating here. 1st couple of times were fine. Its been a while though. Today was a whole different experience. Very awkward. Food was spot on. Except for coming out 5 or so mins apart. Staff didn't pay any attention to us at all. Just left us to it. Had to flag someone to order. Drinks came after food. Qr payment didn't work. It was fairly quiet, we paid when we left. There was confusion over where our bill was, so just stood and waited. Very strange. Staff couldn't care a less. Didnt give any instruction at all. Just a very strange and awkward experience. Very meh. Such a shame because the food is so nice. The worst bit overall is the staff dining area for some reason is on the restaurant floor. So no proper break for staff (in their defense) and we could just see them slouching around. Working Staff were just casually stopping there for chats. So sloppy. Sort it out Wagamama.

So much choice for vegiterians here. Usually, with Asian food at restaurants, there isn't a great amount to choose from, but here you are spoilt for choice

Was amazing food service and staff all friendly helpfull.I started to get Anxious as was waiting for my party of 8,and it was getting busy.Maisie calmed me reasured me,she wasn't just a server cant thank her enough. 10 out of 10 to all of you on that day.And my star Maisie thank you .

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! The staff was rude. A waiter literally laughed at us. Moreover, a waitress, after asking us where we were from, went to her colleagues and they laughed (pointing at us). In addition, the food was awful, none of us liked it. I do not recommend it!

The service was very rude. A guy laughed me in the face when i asked him where was the toilet, and the girl that took our order made fun of us with her colleagues. Also the food wasn’t that nice. None of us liked their dish and i wouldn’t recommend it.

We love it here! Our favourite lunch in Bury, our favourite waitress Molly! We always get great menu recommendations from her, the starters, mains and desserts were great and we loved the coffee to finish. Looking forward to going again soon

Love this Wagamamas. Have come here several times for both eat in and take away and the food is always great. The staff are also very friendly and the restaurant is clean :)

Quality of food I thought was good. Katsu was bigger than I thought it was going to be and the chilli prawns were very nice. Setting I thought good and staff friendly. It’s a while since I’ve been and I had forgotten about all the food coming when it’s ready. Being honest - that in my view is a faf - I think puts me off a little as it feels it’s helping the chefs not the customer. Better to order what you want as starter - then once eaten that order what you want as mains. I know it’s their thing but when everything arrives in one go as did with me and my son it’s a lot of food on the table in front of you and that in itself is off putting. It also super speeds up the meal as you are not stopping and enjoying your food so the speed is fast food but the price is not. We ordered and finished our 2 course meal in 40 min - £55 (no booze only 1 bottle of water). In would go again but I’d the food in two parts to separate starter and mains and take a bit more time.

We were really disappointed with our experience. We had not been to a Wagamama for some time and had good experiences in the past. The food was very poor. my Ramen noodles very oversalted, too many noodles relative to everything else, and very dry piece of chicken on top. My husband's dish was dry and uninteresting. We felt that the food had been sitting around for a while. One part of the meal came so late, however, that we had lost any appetite to eat it. The only redeeming feature was the pleasant and welcoming staff.

Why here for an evening meal, best do far, beautiful flavours and mix of food.

Popped in for lunch with the family – Wagamama is a favourite of ours but this was our first time to the Bury St Edmunds branch. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish – lovely welcome and service (including letting us have a much larger table than we needed to give us space for our baby buggy), food and drink was really quick to arrive, and the quality was excellent.

Had a lovely experience in there recently, The food was amazing as always. Anna made us feel very welcome. Lovely, bubbly and very accommodating. We asked what something was like and she kindly asked the chef for a taster. The restaurant was very busy the busiest I had seen it before, yet Anna was making sure everyone was happy and had time to chat and be courteous to customers 😊 the beer was also nice 😉

Went for lunch today - there was a bit of queue to grab a table but not much longer than a 5-10 min wait. We were served by Maisie, who was absolutely lovely (as well as her colleague)! The vegan options are incredible and so nice to have such an huge variety! The food was generally so good - was very and impressed by the flavours coming from someone who grew up in Asia 😋 Our favourite was definitely the chilli crispy mushroom!

We have been regulars at Wagamama in Bury for quite some time now, and the experience has always been exceptional during the weekdays. The service and food quality are beyond amazing. However, we did have a bit of an off experience on a Saturday night, which we understand can be busy. The food and drinks were delayed, which is expected during peak hours. Unfortunately, when the ramen finally arrived, it lacked the usual flavor we love. It seemed hastily cooked, almost like plain boiled water with the ingredients. This was a surprising one-off experience for us, given our numerous visits. We're optimistic that it was just a glitch and look forward to continuing our enjoyable visits.

I went there with my boyfriend (he works there) it was my first time trying Wagamama and it was amazing I loved it.

Definitely a new favorite restaurant of ours! Holy cow the food is so tasty! Plenty of phenomenal options - I had the Raisukaree and my husband had the Steak Korean Hot Pot. Our server Ayesha was so knowledgeable about the menu items and made our experience very lovely! Loved her!

I come to this Wagamamas quite a lot and the staff are always so lovely and welcoming the service is outstanding every time the food is always 10/10 fresh and certainly delicious. We have Been served by Maisie one of their lovely members of staff a few times and she is amazing always friendly and amazing customer service. This restaurant will always be one of my favourite places to eat.

Great food every time. But today was special. Superb service. Excellent food, great drinks and atmosphere. Not one complaint. Izzy and the team made our large group feel super special. Superb.

What an enjoyable evening. Not being able to eat wheat can be a problem some places but here they are prepared, The dedicated menu, trained staff was really reassuring. The food specifically “the king oyster mushrooms” is a delight on the taste buds. The staff were first rate, none of this robotic , scripted or clinical service but good old fashioned real life happy down to earth service that made the night a prefect evening.

Greeted by a friendly waitress, who recognised us and took us to the area we like to sit! Tried out the new October menu, I had the “ hot bowl” with chicken and lots of spicy additions…served on a bed of rice …delicious ,,,hot ,,,,and filling ! We are always very happy with the service but today Maisie went out of her way to make sure we were happy with the new dishes on offer …. She has great potential! Thank you Bury Waggas

Wonderful food, can't fault it. Unfortunately let down by the staff who left the premises early and made me feel as if I should hurry my meal and go. Condiments were being refilled and general clean up at 9.30pm although closing time was 11pm. Didn't have dessert due to the atmosphere. Was compensated after speaking with the Manager (the general manager went home, although she was our server)! Such a shame that my first visit wasn't a good one, but I will go back, probably earlier so it doesn't feel so difficult.

In there for 20 mins the place was basically empty and dirty, sticky menus and tables.The staff didn't acknowledge us at all instead they sat around. You would think within 20 minutes with the restaurant being quiet they would at least take a drinks order.

Sadly not up to the usual Wagamama standard due to the poor service and lack of attention to detail in the kitchen. I always order the miso makerel and following the best version of this beautiful dish enjoyed in Ipswich a couple of days ago, what was served up here was a big disappointment! Getting the fish skin right is key. Here it was flaccid and a tad slimey and lacked the blackened crispy element entirely. The rice element was not heat hot enough and the pak choi was too hard and also lukewarm. The service was lamentable. We were seated and then ignored - no menu, no nothing. I actually asked the server if she was new, as this would have gone someway to forgive her failings, but alas she wasn't. Paying by phone we found that the table number was incorrect but we got there in the end. Sadly, this Wagamama falls a long way short on many fronts.

All the food is delicious and I love that they have vegan options. I recommend the edamame,the gyosas and cauliflower as starters.

Great choice for freshly made, delicious, healthy Oriental fusion food. Even town should have a Wagamamas! I had the chance to try their white chocolate ginger cheesecake and it was divine!! I'm hooked

I went to wagamama and what can I say I had a beef stake Ramon and beef buns and wow what can I say my friend Richard he is a line chef he intreduce me to wagamama last year and this is the second time I have been never disappointed amazing food friendly staff what more can you ask for

Visited a few times over the last couple of months, as well as today. First of all, the food has always been really good. Except, today when the food turned up at the table it wasn’t exactly hot, just about lukewarm. Secondly, the staff that welcome you to the restaurant are always welcoming, after that it’s obvious the staff are just going through the motions. Today after being seated, a different staff member turned up at the table asking about food allergies which I thought was her being prepared to take the food order when the time came, and she asked what drink I’d like so I said a Diet Coke please. Then a few minutes later the original staff that sat my daughter and I, came back and took the food order and also asked which drink I want. I politely said I’d already ordered a drink, so she went and checked and she came back and said there’s no order for it. So she took the drink order this time. I think it’s really inappropriate for staff in any restaurant to take an order then walk off do nothing but walk around the place doing not much - if you’ve been to Wagamama’s Bury st Edmunds, you’ll know how open planned it is, so you can see everything. Also, paying the bill isn’t easy either. The QR code doesn’t load when scanned and before now, it has taken 15% of phone battery for it then to say payment failed - this has happened on every visit wherever I have sat in the restaurant, it’s not down to how strong the WiFi/signal is depending on where you sit, as we’ve sat in various parts of the restaurant. As on the mobile as I had a strong Wi-Fi connection and good internet/signal connection. On previous visits I have also had to wait well over 20 minutes because of not being able to pay on the QR code. After today’s experience, I think we’ll be giving the place a miss for a while.

We always get a lovely meal when here. Staff are friendly and food is hot and fresh.
