Bought fish&chips from here tonight, disgusting, dried up, wish we hadn’t bothered. Wouldn’t recommend!!!!

Would do 0 if I could. Be cautious ordering from bennies. Last order was disgusting, chicken burger is a small slab of processed meat I beleive even McDonald's would be ashamed to use. My burger was cold and sloppy burnt bun, while my sons meal was scolding as if it was just out the fryer (cant be cold due to delivery taking long or it would all be cold, and its not my fault even if it was delivery time, why should their lack of organisation leave me out of pocket). This amongst other issues (wont list as it cannot be "proven"), and been told we won't get ANY money back, but they could offer "free delivery on the next order". Only offered a replacement meal.. I don't want your gross food. I get issues happen, but customer service and how its dealt with is what keeps me loyal, and sadly that's not the response anyone should have. Times are tough, that meal was a "treat cheat" and ended up leaving me hungry, disappointed and out of pocket. The manager asked us to come down to sort it out and repeated the same thing, so now wasted petrol money. They think there too small of an establishment to be under the consumer right acts. The pure arrogance and condescending tone is shamefull

Good honest chippy. My opinion, best in haverhill. Can get busy, but staff work quickly and are always friendly. They do deliver also. Cod and chips always spot on, and price is very reasonable. Benny's BBQ is a haverhill institution and a go to for many a local. It has been here for many years. The owner knows you by name, and is such a nice guy as with all the staff that work in there. Don't bother going anywhere els if you're in the mood for a chippy tea in haverhill.

Great family run business and best fish & chips in the area by far

Popped in here after a trip to the cinema one Friday evening. Good selection of food available. There's even the option of purchasing fish for your pet! We were served quickly. We were all able to have what we wanted. It was really good value for money. The food was lovely. Everything came with/ without items according to our specifications. There was so much food I had my leftovers reheated the next day. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They seemed happy in their work.

I can not fault the service from here and the quality, The person that took my order Rhianna ,double checked to make sure everything was how I wanted it. I had to wait for my fish order, but I would rather a fresh cooked fish. This place has a friendly vibe. I’ve been coming here for years and all I can say it’s better now than ever. One question I have for bennys is what happend to the beanie rounder ???

Been going here for years always been good

Have been a customer for 30 years but will avoid in future. Disappointing given history of 'best in town'. All except one of 5 staff more interested in taking telephone orders so slow to take order to start with even with no queue. Young server spent so long putting pitta under grill that two customers behind me got their orders first, consequently no meat left for the last kebab of my order. By the time she'd finished wrapping the order the first kebabs were lukewarm so ended up having to microwave when I got them home. Result:hot meat and lukewarm salad. Yuk!

Well the lady in Benny's Bar-B-Q who handed me my order was definitely spot on when she said hope you enjoy your meal my fish and chips were handsome and yes I enjoyed every single mouthful so my opinion is that I highly recommend this place if you definitely want to feel stuffed in a good way afterwards so try it out for yourself and from me enjoy your order and to you Benny's Bar-B-Q I'm sure I'll see you guys again soon cheers.

Was a good place. Went there tonight about 6ish, Absolute mayhem, No one knew what they were doing. Stood for 10 minutes to order a Sish Kebab to find out they didn't have any. Worked as a Chef for 25 years and this place is absolutely panicking about cooking chips and how to wrap them. Gone down hill BIG TIME. NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.

Benny’s always had a reputation for having great food. Unfortunately standards have slipped. Had a kebab and it was inedible. Grainy, fatty lumps and stone cold. Forgot the salad. Spicy potatoes absolutely disgusting too. Such a shame as historically the food has been good. Also did not like the fact not a single member of staff was wearing a mask (this was before ‘freedom day’) or washing their hands between serving customers/making up food orders. A good hygeine nightmare and COVID disaster waiting to happen!!!

I regularly have cod and chips and it is always delightful. Great taste, great value and great service .

My wife wanted a surprise for her dad for his birthday.. He loves his fish and chips ... because of lockdown we phoned Bennys to arrange a delivery Fish and chips.. Scampi and chips .. was delivered on time piping hot .. Brilliant service 👍🏻

Went to bennys for large battered sausage and chips x 2 The chips were reheated and sausage cheap and also over cooked.. only ever choosen to eat here but not again the fish last time was not fresh either .. not buying food to go in the bin

My daughter bought some fish and chips for lunch on Tuesday 19th May. When she got home and unwrapped it the fish was just a soggy mess! There was hardly any batter on the fish and what batter there was just stuck to the paper. So disappointed as normally this place has a good reputation. Sadly, very disappointed and even tho it was a warm day we expected the batter to be a bit crisp not a soggy mess. Will be going to Chippys in future.

Not very impressed clearly was not cooked fresh probably left overs from lunchtime not very hot either charged £4 delivery but that was my choice as not wanting to go out during this virus

Ordered cod, chips, savloy and sausage for family - kids said the chips tasted weird! The savloys were all lukewarm, not hot at all, but the worst bit was that the large £5.50 cod, was in fact two small cods ( it looked funny so asked if it was the large cod and lady said yes) but when I opened it, it was 2 old battered cods, that should have been thrown away! They stunk of ammonia ( bleach) and tasted awful I spat it out straight away - but accidentally swallowed some! Now I hope I don't get food poisoning. Can't believe they didn't tell me that the large cod was in fact two small cods - this would not have been OK even if they were edible! As I didn't want a load of batter and hardly any cod! I wanted large cod, with thin batter - but these were over battered thin as anything slim cods. I'm never going back to Benny's BBQ again. I'm not the type of person to go and ask my Money back - but they do deserve a bad review because the food was cold, weird and inedible - now I'm hoping I won't get I'll. In the past, they have served good food but tonight it was a bad experience.

We buy our meal from Bennys at least one a week. It is always fresh and cooked just right. A great place to pick up some tasty food.

The cod is always made fresh and really white not grey like other places. Chips are amazing too. Best chippy and service in town

Worst meal had for a while ordered a king feast never had ribs like it before and the chicken was just as bad it certainly was not fresh.the chicken was completely dry and over cooked .It must have been left over from dinner-time.The chips were just as bad they seemed like they had also been re-fried.

Missus has been coming here most of her life, it has been open for years, all of the family involved in running it & occasionally to still see Benny serving too! Food always excellent - very friendly and helpful staff.

Ordered a large chicken & doner kebeb with chips & salad. Portions are huge here and the meat was tasty and well cooked. Cheap to eat here and they do a great range including fish & chips and burgers. One to go to for sure...might have to wait a bit as there us usually a queue but they get through it pretty swiftly.

Second time I’ve been in 2 weeks won’t be going again pie was the day before I think dry and burnt at midday. This time burger called a Big Ben poster on wall of quality beef burgers?? Certainly wasn’t what I got chips over cooked and kept too long

This place always has fresh fish and the batter is crunchy. The chips are never overcooked and very tasty. Have also tried the kebaby which are as good as any in the area.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. It's clear by the queues that it's a firm favourite with locals and those who have come from further afield. Elena made my children feel super special and they got to eat a sausage while we queued which was a true winner in their eyes. Obviously the winning for us had to be the fabulous yummy food. So much choice, we will be back soon!!

My partner and I always go to Benny's for fish and chips or kebab and chips when we treat ourselves to our weekly takeaway. The portion sizes are always excellent and we've never ever had a bad takeaway from here. Highly recommend.

staff are always acting up messing around in here , need to be ALOT more professional food can be decent but varys as they pre cook a mountain of food so yours may have been in the warmer for hours theres a charge for using a card to pay with , but if you take in a hoard of kids they all get a free sausage regardless of what you spend lol , be nice for loyal or big spending customers to get the odd freebie too its okay , but easier to buy elsewhere and not have to put up with the circus performance for the workers fooling around

my favourite - fast food cooked with log and care ... Iv'e been buying fish & chips & kebabs from Benny's for over 20 years ... from a fast and filling wednesday night supper for the kids after their 2 hr swim training .. to the occasional treat whilst shopping in town ..and the most popular friday night fish & chips - this traditional takeaway always serves tasty good value high quality food with a smile and a warm welcome ... Benny prides himself on his kebabs & will even give you extra chills if you ask - Thanks Benny for a great and consistent good food service over many years

Do not reside in Haverhill Any more , But when I Visit Family in Haverhill we visit ,Bennys its where we get a good Take a Way, Its Local to the Town Centre. A Family run business is the Best .

For many years this was about the only chip shop in Haverhill near the town centre, and whilst the food was always good the portions were abysmal. Coming from the midlands where a small portion of chips would feed two and a large portion would feed a small town for a week this really annoyed me as even their 'large' portions were about 1/3 size of a normal portion up North. I stopped going. A new chippy opened a year or two ago and they were great , good food, good prices and PROPER PORTIONS. People rightly fled from Bennys and descended on the new place like locusts. This led to a problem. QUEUES! And no where to park. So two days ago when I went to purchase comestibles from said establishment I found no where to park. I had no time and thought 'Rats' and went to Bennys, ready to buy four portions of chips for the two I required. Bennys was quiet, and plenty of parking. I noticed one person in front of me (hooray) and I was surprised to note the portion size - A PROPER PORTION! I ordered two and they matched the competitor. The food is actually better and now I know I will be returning. Please do NOT tell anyone in Haverhill as , being selfish, I do not want them to become too busy :). It is just a shame they did not do this all the time , as if they did no one would have left them.

We use bennys for a take away meal. Usually on the spur of the moment. We have never been disappointed! They are always friendly, and make their customers welcome. The orders are rapidly dealt with and are always piping hot. The quality of the food is superb and extreemly Good value. In all the years we have been using Bennys, we have never been disappointed!

After driving up high street late one night decided to try 'Bennys'. The family had eaten so was just feeding myself. I love fish and chips but the quality of the food here was not great at all. Chips were greasy and all stuck to bag, I liken it to eating mashed potato. The batter on the fish was not cooked really soggy and not the white flakes of fish I would expect. Staff were pleasant enough but did take a while for them to acknowledge me (really annoys me)Definitely better chippy's in town, just a shame my regular one (chippy's) was closed :(

Lived here 7 years before I knew this place sold fish 'n chips. The name suggests otherwise. Once tried though, wouldn't go anywhere else. Never disappoints. Fresh, hot and good size portions and friendly, efficient service . Yum!
