Really good overall, staff friendly and efficient! The place gets very busy but they keep on top of it, food is good with really good portion sizes. Well worth a visit

I have never been more disappointed in my life. chips were barely cooked and fish was disgusting- soggy and tasted like cardboard. honestly will not be returning absolutely vile.

this place is absolutely terrible and overpriced, stale fish and chips. service is incredibly slow but have 5 people behind the counter. for one person it roughly costs £10. they are not going to make profit with these high and ridiculous prices in the future as no one will want to pay.

I live in Cambridge, but I drive here for my fish & chips! They serve great quality foods, I have also tried their kebab’s because it seems like a popular choice in the small town, and cannot wait to bring my family too! They have a clean, great environment inside (seating area). 100% recommend!

Can't fault the service, the food and range of menu. Have to say, the mixed doner on rice is top drawer. Loads of meat, lovely rice and fresh salad.

This place will always have my whole heart. My entire life this dream like establishment has ALWAYS been here. Let me tell you why. Its a monday evening. Cold. Rain. Sad. You're walking down the high street sinking in your self sorrow. You see a light. A blue light, a light of hope. A light of CHIPS. You walk in to the wholesome greeting aroma of fried potatoes. 'Can I have a portion of chips with salt and vinegar please' A sentence that has been uttered from my mouth uncountable times. And you know what, they don't JUST get me any old portion of chips. They FILL the paper to THE BRIM with every variety of chip you could ever ask for. Small, Crunchy, Large, Fat, Fluffy; they don't discriminate. Just a single portion of this sweet love can fill anybodies stomach. We may never meet dear reader but i ask one thing of you. Go here. Trust me. Smart Fish Bar for LIFE. They also do reslly good battered sausages :) The staff also refer to me sometimes as John Lennon.

Food was good and plenty in portion sizes but the Donner kabab was sitting in a puddle of grease.

So the staff were very friendly, however, I paid over £10 for kebab and chips, no salt and vinegar even though I asked, and when I got home they were so greasy as I lifted the chip paper out of the bag they split open. I don’t know who taught them to make a kebab, but essentially they cut your pitta up, and throw again the greasiest meat .. so greasy the box it came in was soggy at the bottom and the pitta is not filled, and it tastes like your eating a wet pitta. I used the reviews on here to decide to give it a try, so I was a little bit disappointed .. because what I had was really horrible - and now I have an upset stomach. Maybe I was just unlucky and it was a one off, but unfortunately I won’t be going back.. however the staff were very friendly and did prepare the food very quickly!

Having some building work done at home I have had to visit this place on numerous occasions over the last few weeks. I have never been disappointed with the quality and taste of the food, the portions are really generous too. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area to give them a try.

We had a first class meal in there new restaurant area that was just perfect. We both enjoyed it very much and highly recommend this restaurant for a dinning out at dinner time.

I had few friends over and we did ordered from here the worst experience I could have Food did come after 3 hours and was some light order not a big deal then it was cold and no tasting I mean disgusting!!!🤮 I don’t recommend this place ! It’s a nightmare with fake reviews!

I really like this place, it has a family feel to it, they remember what you normally have and they're always extremely friendly. Also gheir chicken wraps are hands down the best 👌

Really really bad. Opened the door and straight away was asked what i would like. Had not even looked at menu.. Asked for a donner kebab ( already made up).. Even confirmed with them that it would be made, got home and all the kebab was seperate. ( out of pitta bread). Asked for a little chili sauce, but when i took food out of bag, dripping wirh sauce....

Have been to the Smart Fish Bar 6 times in 2023 and every time the food and service were excellent.. Best around - the team are flat out in there but always deliver an excellent meal. Great value for money with the portion sizes. Nothing better always piping hot.

Fantastic fish bar, the best fish n chips we've had for years. The seating area was very clean and freshly decorated. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection and a very generous portion. We received a very friendly welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Shame we don't live near, but will definitely return next time we're in Haverhill.

Eat here a lot very friendly staff and always get a warm welcome. Food is always piping hot and generous portions. I eat here usually once a week if not 2 or 3 times a month. In my opinion the best chippy in haverhill.

Went there for kebabs and chips got them home they did get mine wrong but Wow amazing service they delivered me a fresh one plus extra chips and sauce food was amazing plenty of it and even though busy got served quickly staff very friendly definitely will use again pity they don't do delivery

After going to my usual kebab place and finding out it’s unfortunately closed on a Monday I’ve heard a lot of people talk about smart fish bar, so thought I would give this one ago and I was not disappointed, large meat and chips ordered very good quality and well portioned, I saw the fillet chicken in the oven and it got my attention ordered 2 pieces and ended up with 5! Maybe it was my lucky night! Chicken fillets were very good also! I will definitely be returning and I do highly recommend this place service was friendly and inviting

The Smart Fish Bar is always busy. This is due to the fact that the food is of high quality and tastes so good. Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food.

Come here most Fridays and are always happy with their fish and chips. Great sized portions, great price and very friendly staff. They also have a seating area now if decide to eat in.

The Smart Fish Bar is our usual place to get fish and chips from, however after our experience yesterday evening, unfortunately we will not be going there again. We were very disappointed to receive fish that was cold, thin and dry. The grease stuck to the roof of the mouth. Very quick service as it was fish that had sat in the hot cabinant for too long and the chips were soggy. Very disappointing

Everytime I come to Haverhill to visit my sister, we always frequent Smart Fish Bar. Their portions are HUGE. A large portion of chips is enough to feed 2 people, 3 at a stretch, and they are always tasty! Their curry sauce is to die for, well worth getting an extra portion. Service is always friendly, and fast too (With the exception of busy periods, which is to be expected). Overall, great value for money, and definitely worth trying if you're ever looking for a quick bite to eat.

The past couple of times I've gone to smart fish bar the haddock has been thin and dry not very tasty at all I'm afraid also the sausages are very peppery and not so nice these days. Chips were nice

All they cared about was to sell. You ask them anything, they just ask you what you back for your order. Prices are flawed. Fish & chips price on the menu is just for the fish. And then they without asking add chips to your plate and charge you 2 more pounds. Can't believe they are still in business. The fish is also very oily.

I used to go to Smart Fish Bar by chance, now I go 3-4 times a week. Very clean and excellent service excellent taste. try it once, you won't be able to give up. It is as clean and delicious as the food you cook at home with peace of mind. I can strongly recommend. Thank You Smart Fish Bar 🙏🙏🙏
