Amazing food, variety, and service. A beautiful view and all age groups of our party catered for, includung the 14 year olds. Great staff and made to feel welcome immediately but Lilleth went above and beyond with her incredible knowledge of the history of the area. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I met here for lunch on Sunday afternoon, with our lovely grandkids, husband's daughter and son in law. We were blown away by the food we were served ! For starters I ordered beetroot humous with freshly made flatbreads, with sprinkles of fresh rosemary. My husband ordered the squid. For mains I ordered the cod, with freshly made herby croquets, on a tangy sauce that was bursting with flavour. My husband ordered roast pork belly, with trimmings which he really enjoyed and felt very happily full! The dessert was just phenomenal! Dairy free coconut sorbet, with pineapple laced in rum and fresh lime sauce and sprinkles of heavenly honeycomb and pistachio nuts......just wow! Staff were very professional and friendly and everything was served with a smile :-). Thanks for a really lovely afternoon, to all the staff and huge compliments to the chef!! Can't wait to return and try other dishes on the menu :-)

Had a lovely dinning experience at The View Restaurant for Fathers Day lunch today. We was greeted by a very polite young lady who showed us to our table. Service was quick and efficient, nothing too much trouble. Particularly made a fuss of our children, which instantly made us feel welcome. Food was very tasty. We will be back for sure. Thanks to all the staff. Kind regards x

Booked for 20 people for afternoon tea this month but so disappointed scones were no bigger than a macaroon cakes and sandwiches were tiny had to keep asking for Our tea and coffee to be topped up service was awful so disappointing at £27.50 per head last year we visited and it was so good would not recommend.

Phenomenal Sunday roast. We all really enjoyed the food and the service was incredible; even more so since they were apparently short staffed. The potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and generous sides of creamed leeks, parsnips, and carrots all really stood out. The duck with beetroot and picked blackberries was deliciously flavourful and not too filling before a roast. I would have loved to have been able to stay for dessert but sadly had to dash off and missed trying the renowned rice rudding with honeycomb.

Really disappointed with our afternoon tea on Monday .. been so many times and it’s been fab but not then … food was nice but service and staff where extremely unhelpful ! We had friends visiting from Australia and wanted to bring them to our wedding venue and had previously had delicious food and great service . The member of staff could barely be bothered to show us where to sit (in an entirely empty restaurant ) she was also extremely put out when we asked for help ordering wine , then the sandwiches arrived ! She had no idea what one of the fillings where .. and said she’d check .. eventually she came back and we asked again and she said the chef was out ! She then asked ‘what did we think it was ?? Anyway eventually another lady came to check to see if we were ok and we asked again and she didn’t know! She did then ask the chef to be told it was beetroot and humus !! It was all too much effort .. they informed us they where tired as they had had a lot of weddings .. I fully understand that but the restaurant was totally empty .. we pre ordered and paid for afternoon tea so shouldn’t have been to difficult really .. the sausage rolls where by far the best part ! The cakes where ok .. we then asked if we could possibly take the cakes away as there was so many left and this seemed again a bit too much effort on their part . It all felt like that couldn’t be bothered the first member Of staff was extremely off to the point of eye rolling when we asked a question ! Such a shame as I was really looking forward to a wonderful afternoon . Instead we felt in the way and and an inconvenience … safe to say we won’t be returning again .. all could have been rectified with a few smiles and friendliness

Choose to book here on the news that chef Sam Sturman, has joined the team. Unfortunately the experience was let down by confused staff who couldn’t even fathom where to seat our party in an empty restaurant. The menus had a lot of items unavailable, before replacing with another ‘revised’ menu featuring one minor change. No one in our party was particularly impressed with the food presented to us. It certainly did not reflect the price. We opted to skip deserts and asked for coffee instead. But for some reason this “wasn’t ready yet” so we chose to escape the confines of the grey and featureless hotel ASAP.

My husband and I arrived today at the hotel for a wedding nearby and decided to try the tasting menu with wine pairing for dinner. Chef Rowan prepared a menu that was bold and brilliant. My favorite was the pastrami salmon with homemade pickles and horseradish crème fraiche. Every course was perfectly cooked and delivered with exquisite care by our server Millie. We were incredibly satisfied with the wine pairings as they were a perfect compliment to our meal. A lovely experience. Thank you.

Expensive and rather disjointed in the way the food was presented. Food was very flavourful and nicely cooked but portions were very small. Literally two strips of chicken in the stuffed chicken. They present it as a "sharing" menu and suggest each person orders 2-3 choices from the fish/meat/vegetables selections. But at upwards of £12-14 per individual selection you need to expect to pay £30-60 per head. Choices come out randomly so you might get vegetable choices before others. Personally we found it a rather disjointed meal.

What a total let down. My parents wanted to treat me and my partner to dinner. So we picked somewhere we know. They have completely changed the once amazing menu! Now totally pretentious. Massively over priced, and too complex for what it is. Such a shame. We ended up only finishing our drinks and heading into town for food.

Unfortunately they are trying to be something more than they are and as the only only restaurant for a hotel to not cater to the masses is a big mistake … the only golf hotel I know that doesn’t have steak on the menu ..

Excellent food and service. The whole idea of this menu is brilliant. There are those that don't understand it as some of the reviews state and that is there choice. But if you want a meal that is different then give it a try. Warning it's not a big plate of food and your stuffed after the starter and main! You pick each dish in turn and share. For s table of two pick 3 to start with, then another 3 then dessert that should do. The menu changes regularly. Looking forward to returning soon!

Poor food heavy on pretentious light on quality. Serving up an undercooked scallop and raw chicken is inexcusable. Claiming that the portions are for sharing then serving 1 scallop or 1 oyster - how do you share this on a table if 4? ‘Bigger than tapas’ - not true. Overall poor quality, overpriced food- not worthy of any rosettes. Avoid or be disappointed.

Oh my word. The menu had to be explained as it made no sense. The waitress had to ask her colleague what some of the dishes were. It was like a too expensive tapas. No chance of a balanced meal anywhere. More an expression of how good the chef thought he was. Shan’t spend my money there again.

I would have given 5 stars but as is the fashion these days the starter and main courses were beautiful and perfectly prepared but a little on the small side for my taste. However I can recommend the cheese board to make up for it. Although I did not taste it, the afternoon tea looked amazing.
