W Potts and Son in High Peak

The bread is stunning and the cakes are gorgeous. We always get a small plait wrap, rolls and a loaf. I can recommend the lunchtime rolls & they do a lunch box for children. So in summer holidays, treat the kids to a sandwich, shaped iced biscuit (the butterflies look nice).I can highly recommend this bakery

Really good breads and a variety of home made cakes, the honey buns are to die for. Just wish they were open a little bit later when I come home through new mills at 3:30

This shop has been in business for years.And still has that old fashioned feel about it. Fresh bread daily, nice cakes, pies , sandwiches,all made on the premises .Well worth a visit .Please bring a shopping bag as they are enviromently friendly

Worth getting up and getting here early; the sausage roll with caramalised onion is divine. The bread is gorgeous, they close after lunch

Had a cake made for my daughter. Cake was beautifully made and tasted like heaven. Potts bakery has always been a great place for homemade cakes, pies and bread. There is always a queue to be served and no one minds because the produce is worth the wait. A great family bakery.

This shop makes wonderful bread and cakes (especially honey cakes still warm from the oven). The three pack of mini sub rolls is great for kids.

Always my favorite for a bakery treat in town, a minute walk from the central station and bus stop. All range of breads, bakes, cakes, biscuits and jams on offer. Hot drinks (Tea-75p) on offer for takeaway

Potts's shop has remained almost unchanged for over 50 years when I fist used to shop there. It is still as good now as it was then. The vanilla cuts and oat cakes are out of this world.

Do visit for excellent quality and excellent service.... a proper bakery like this is so hard to find!

We discovered this little bakery on one of our trips to nearby Hayfield. They bake lots of old-fashioned breads and cakes that you never see these days. We have really enjoyed sandwiches, bread and cakes from Potts.

We have been buying our bread from Potts for over 30 years, they are consistently excellent... Wide range of bread, cakes and lovely shortbread the children love.

El pan mejor fresco que hemos tenido. Una buena selección de panes, bollos y pasteles para elegir. Bien merece una visita.

I wish this bakers was nearer to home ( or maybe not)!! They have an amazing collection of breads, cakes etc. Lots of unusual items from a sweet wreath to marmite and cheese loaf. Home made black currant Swiss roll was very good. As was the salami and pepperoni bread.

Moved to disley but use this bakery and the butcher in new mills .Why ? Because they are great value , have terrific family service and are the best for many many miles around!!

Opens early and closes early which is the only downside, but easily the best bakers in New Mills. Fresh and yummy.

If ever I'm in New Mills I have to go and get tea cakes and a sandwich from here. Love that its family run and not changed in years!!! Just finished off a Bear Biscuit meant for the children now! Yum. Thanks Potts for being so tasty. Don't ever change!!

We love this bakery. It's the heart of New Mills. You can smell the fresh bread from down the street! Where a friendly welcome always awaits!

All their bakery products are excellent. Try their iced buns also lunchtime sandwiches. Also like the muffins and wholemeal bread.

What a lovely cake shop and Bakery, prefer to get my bread from local shop not big supermarkets. Get down to new mills and support the locals well worth the trip

It is well worth the 10 mile drive from Stockport to buy the most tasty bread and cakes that you will find anywhere for miles around. This is how I remember baking to be when I was a child growing up in the city - where it seems that every loaf and cake has been carefully made and presented. And what a fine range of sandwiches to choose from!! Long may this bakery live and prosper. I shall continue to drive to buy my bread from you and I suggest those who live in these parts try a sample.

This bakery puts all other bakeries to shame! It's fresh, tasty, traditional, extremely reasonably priced and local. Their bread is the tastiest you will find for miles. Their cakes are delicious and moreish. The staff are happy to help and will even make up a muffin for you if there isn't one available with the filling you want. I am a big believer in supporting local businesses, and with a bakery as good as this, you'd be mad not to!

Old school bakery, delicious. Best bread for miles, porkies and cakes too. Get there early Saturday for cheese and onion, or pesto bread. Yum

Pott's bakery is a pillat of our local town and sells all sorts of delicious breads and cakes. Not only do they look and smell good but the bread is divine.

Potts is the best bread for miles around. If you want any on a Saturday you need to be there early. The potatoe cakes are good too.

Fabulous cakes and delicious pies and bread, only complaint is that it isn't good for the waistline, they also sell a range of preserves to go with the scones, and teacakes a gem of a place and totally agree with all other reviewers.

This is a great little shop which always has really pleasant staff and high quality baking products. I try to go each Saturday morning, but you need to be early as they sell out fast.

We have been buying our bread, cakes, treats, from Potts for quite a few years now. When they close for holidays we don't know what to do - supermarket bread is just hopeless by comparison. Their bread is lovely, we buy the muffins for sandwiches and freeze them too to avoid running out. Their traditional products are great, but they are always trying new ideas out too. The staff are super friendly, and we look forward to going in for a chat as well as for bread. Go in the morning as they do close quite early, but since it's a family business I don't blame them. My only problem is that I like making bread too but theirs is better than mine! We need more bakeries like this!

Potts is ideally located off the town centre and offers a wide range of traditional breads and pastries although some are so popular that they sell out quickly and are baked only on certain days.I love the marmite bread available only on Saturday but often miss out as I don't get there early enough.Staff are friendly and helpful, they disapprove of customers using mobile phones whilst being served as it is thought to be rude to staff and other customers, and rightly so.The shop was recently broken into and the entire stock stolen, somewhat unusual for a bakery but perhaps indicative of the quality and popularity of the goods on sale

Lovely little family shop, will never turn down a Potts muffin, I have never tasted bread so delicious anywhere else. I really would make this a definite stop if/when visiting New Mills.

We visit this bakery in a regular basis and it is always so busy. The staff are so friendly and will go out of there way to make sure you get everything you want.I go in with my little boy to get a lunch box every Saturday afternoon and it's the only bread he will eat.We always recommend this place if anyone needs and bread and it's highly recommended by others in the town too.

Always a great experience to shop here for delicious breads made on the premises. The aroma filling the street outside is fantastic

I need to ween my husband off their muffins, if he doesn't get them to make his lunch, he has a hissy fit. They are great and last a lot better if you put them into polly bags when you get them, nicer than muffins bought from anywhere else. Love em.

Fresh bread, cakes, sandwiches, the opening times are questionable, they close very early Wednesdays and fairly early most days.

Selection is incredible, where do they make it all! Always a big queue but you realise why when you eat their food. It's old fashioned, in a very good way!

This long-established local bakery offers freshly baked bread and various baked treats. Well worth calling in if you require a sandwich for a picnic down in the Torrs while you're visiting New Mills.

They offer a range of traditional breads, all of it good. It would be good if they offered some more modern, creative alternatives to the traditional fayre. And a decent selection of proper cakes would be good. The staff are not friendly. Typical small town mentality. Expect to be viewed with suspicion if you don't have the local accent.

The best croissants ever. Generations have shopped there and it is still the best bakery in the area.

I just love this place it's so amazing the bread is awesome. I make my husbands sandwiches on "Pot's muffins" and he loves them. Everything is so fresh. Everybody I'm new mills should buy their bread from here.

The smell of freshly baked bread filled the shop and the selection is extensive. The tiny shop is bursting at the seams as people cram themselves in and the extended queue up the pavement outside is a sight rarely seen.

If you want bread like it used to be then go to Potts. It's amazing! Fresh baked and if you time it right still warm. Wonderful and it tastes devine...

Hope I have this right! The. Bakers on the main road up the town away from the river? Absolutely fabulous! Lovely bread scrummy tea cakes in so much I have to bring some home with me. I could run on but won't in case I am in the wrong place!! Always possible!

Just going in to smell the fresh bread is a treat. They bake fabulous bread and do cakes, biscuits and sandwiches too. They do shut in the early afternoon so a morning trip is recommended

Potts is just the best! The best bread and pastries in the area, they do a good choice of both traditional and the more adventurous and always so fresh. Once you've tried their croissants etc, you'll never return to mediocre offerings of local supermarkets. Do pay them a visit!
