After coming down to Cornwall for many years on holiday and to enjoy a delicious hot pasty……. Wow so disappointed this year came down at Easter and thought we get a traditional pasty from rowes in Truro not only we got it and it was cold it also seemed to of lost its traditional meat filling thr was no steak inside well a couple flakes if your lucky a load of pepper probably to colour the potatoes to make it look like steak pieces and the pastry was awful hard I really would not recommend a pasty from rowes not anymore such a shame as it was the best at one point not no longer shame on you rowes bakery charge a hefty penny for a pasty but penny pinch on your meat filling

Pasties are part of Cornish heritage and they dont come more authentic than those made and served up by Rowes - Made with fine skirt beef, juicy, perfectly seasoned - Yes the café is basic but its functional and with food that you can eat unlike many of the eateries in Truro which range from poor to dreadful, with a couple of exceptions - dont be deceived by cute frontages or home spun menu's a lot of it is characterised by high prices and low rent food - Rowes pasties are top fayre and great value - Truro needs to get its act together, because this is my lunch option of choice

While shopping in Truro, we spotted this little bakery with traditional Cornish pasty’s. We sat it although we were originally going for a takeaway. I have to admit, the Cornish pasty did not disappoint me. It was very tasty and arguably the best I’ve had. If shopping in Truro again, I would definitely call in here again. This also has plenty of room for disabled.

I am very disappointed ! I made my reservation three weeks if not more, It was accepted for a Wednesday night at 6:45 pm on the web site stated the restaurant was open. I get a cancellation hours before my sons 21st birthday family dinner that I that I had 4 other prople coming and I get a call to tell me they do not serve dinner on Wednesday. Even on that day the website indicated they were open. This was where my son picked for his special day and it was s big disappointment fir all of us. Not one person in the three weeks has the sense to call me prior to say it was a mistake. This was not good customer service.

I used to pop into Rowe's, both in Truro and Penzance, and was always able to get a Vegetarian cocktail pasty. The last few times I've gone in over the past few months (different days, from mid morning through to mid afternoon) they haven't had any, the space for them is always empty. This used to be a great meal for me, I have allergies which are limiting as it is, and now this option is no longer available though it's advertised. I'm not the only one who's had this problem, I won't be the last. I don't think I'll bother anymore.

Home of the best chicken pasty in Cornwall and a contender of a steak pasty. I live rowes pasties and normally eat them all the time. But unfortunately due to the pasty tax it is becoming harder to get a hot pasty and unfortunately the chicken 🐔 pasty is not nice when luke warm on many occasions I gave asked for a hot pasty not minding the extra cost and have been disappointed 😥 that non were available. On this basis you only get a three as your shops are always clean and your staff friendly. Please in future make sure I can get a hit pasty. I find myself having to eat inferior pasties from other shops because I can get a hot one.

Rowe's pasties are without a doubt the best pasties in Truro. In the summer months they do get very busy with tourists and queue's coming out of the door which shows how popular they are. The only reason why I have given it 4/5 is that sometimes the pasties are just warm rather than hot.

Cornish pasties, like many baked goods, should be good but so often are not. But Rowe's seem to be reliably good. I have to say that I tend to distrust anybody's traditional "steak" pasties, so generally go for a vegetarian or chicken one. It was good, flavoursome, in pastry well worth eating and I was intrigued to notice how the potato had been finely cut into little flat squares.

Got our pasties from here on a whim as we were passing. Lovely and hot. We had a medium traditional and a chicken. My daughter said the chicken one was nice but could have done with more meat in it. Meat ones, £2.80 were fine, perhaps just a bit too salty. Have had far worse so would happily eat these again.

Have been coming to this bakery for years to get my Cornish pastie fix. I heard from my mother who lives locally that they weren't as good as before. So my wife and I decided to conduct a pastie challenge pitting Rowe's against the bakery next door (St Agnes bakery I believe). We each bought a medium meat pastie and asked the server to cut in half. Outside my wife and I consumed each half and rated the quality. Considering Rowe's was slightly more expensive, St Agnes won hands down. More meat, more flavour and well cooked. Pastry was thinner and crustier from St Agnes. Rowe's received a poultry 2 out of 10 compared to St Agnes's 8. I really hope by the time of my next visit that improvements have been made.

Bought the medium beef pasty and bit into over salted soggy vegetables. I had 3 chunks in the entire thing which only just constitutes what it was supposed to be - no gravy, no flavour and chewy pastry, this place has gone downhill from the quality of years ago. A product of penny pinching.

The following applies to the Lemon Quay shop in Truro. Pasty was well overcooked. Meat was chewy. Pastry was too thick and not seasoned well at all. I am from Truro originally and grew up on Cornish pasties and when I was younger Rowe was the place to go, but I won't bother again.

Delicious little bakery with quite a selection of cornish pasties to choose from. We had some of the “Tipple” range which included a steak and doombar pasty and a pork and rattler cider pasty. Both of which were delicious, the pastry was flaky and buttery and the filling was incredibly flavourful.

As a child in Plymouth I loved saffron buns. When I travelled down from SE England in June 2014 to stay in Truro I made certain to buy "Rowe's large best saffron cake". Wonderfully moist, full of fruity flavour and that indefinable extra that saffron gives. I took the cake home, and every day I had a slice, spread with butter of course, it brought back happy memories from my childhood.

Visited here on a rather showery day. We asked for four of the 'special' pasties with Doombar, however there were only two left so we had those and two traditional. Walking just a little way down the street we found another branch with tables to sit in side. We were disappointed the original shop had not told us there was another branch so near as there were several of the doombar pasties there. However, we went in the shop to ask if we bought drinks could we eat the pasties we had bought up the road? We showed the pasties to prove this. (I need to mention here we are OAPs so could have done with a 'sit down after a mornings walk') There was only one of the 3/4 tables with people soccupied, so plenty of space and no one else in the shop. We were turned away however as apparently pasties to eat in would cost more as they would need to add the vat. This we would have been more than pleased to pay, and was going to suggest this, but the assistant was so rude in speaking to us, we felt it wiser to leave the shop!

On our recent visit to Cornwall we wanted to try a real cornish pasty so stopped here. Now I'm not a pasty lover neither are the children. We bought two little steak ones a chicken and a normal cornish pasty. I was absolutely amazed it was the best pasty I have ever tasted I loved it and so did the children. I only wish they delivered to Gloucestershire because I'd order them. If your in Cornwall you have to try them.

As a retired baker, who ran his own successful Bakery in the New Forest, while I was visiting my mother in Lerryn nr. Lostwithiel, I had a different Pasty every day, and Rowe's were the best, by a Cornish mile. I have been using Rowes bakery since it opened in Truro. As someone who has lived in Cornwall for 43 years I think it would be wrong of me to judge Rowes on all their products just the one the Cornish are famous for the pasty. Located in Victoria Square or pasty square due to all the other establishments that sell the same product Rowes rank as one of the best. The problem is there is no consistancy in their pasties. Sometimes the pasty is half empty. Other times there is no seasoning (pepper is essential). Then you can get one with undercooked vegetables but when they get it right it is a joy to behold. The one issue I have always had with Rowes is the fact that you can go in at 1 pm, a usual lunching time, and there will be no pasties ready to eat. They are all still cooking in the oven. This has always perplexed me because the queue builds, creates pressure on the staff, they then rush and you end up with a second rate product. My honest opinion is the better option is to drive to the factory shop on the Kernick Industrial Estate, (TR10 for those with sat nav) Penryn, buy your pasty their and if its piping hot drive on to Falmouth 10 mins away and find a vantage spot overlooking Falmouth bay and enjoy the said purchase. Proper job.

Every Cornishman/woman has a very strong view on the best pasty. Usually the best is your Mum's (of course) - but my Mum doesn't make them very often anymore so I have tried quite a few others! Rowe's are the best in Truro (that will provoke a fierce debate among any other Cornish viewers!) - and a safe bet where ever you are. Sometimes the meat isn't evenly distributed through the pasty but I don't really mind that. The pastry is always good, lots of onion and pepper. Yummy.

When they are good my gar they are ansum but it's a bit like pasty roulette, every so often you'll get a nasty one with chewy beef and hard tatties. Trust me I'm a Cornishman you pays yer money and takes a chance !. Lovely staff who are proper Cornishmaids and that makes a huge difference to me. Even when you get a bad one and you will at some point you'll come back because of the service. The chicken ones are the same, sometimes tender tasty and ansum other times great chewy lumps of chicken with little or no taste. I like em hot n peppery and rowes provide that mostly out of tourist season. Good selection of tasty treats and they are always superb as is rowes bread
