Voujon in Edinburgh, City of

Had a great time dining with family! When we ‘re in Edinburgh Love their food , as always the staff were top notch in providing the best service. Last time I was here in 2005-6 Voujon just opened I think?? Was well serviced by mr Salim and his team again providing the best. The interiors changed a bit looks better and welcoming! Didn’t see the old wonderful staff and Mr Salim. Hope they are all well. And thanks for the lovely food!!!

Very good restaurant attentive staff certainly would recommend..

Always excellent food at good prices. I judge an Indian restaurant by the quality of their tikka and naan. If those are good, everything else tends to be too...and in Voujon they are consistently excellent. Combined with supremely friendly staff this makes Voujon our favourite/go-to Indian restaurant in Edinburgh.

The food was delicious and very well-presented. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Will definitely return ❤️

I tried for the first time got a curry out I wid hav gave it 5 stars had they gave me spicy onion the meat was great very tender can't wait to try again very quick aswell

También está en el extremo sur de la ciudad es útil para viajes cortos a este acogedor restaurante limpio con calidad y cantidad de comida india fina.

Very nice and cozy place, great food and super friendly stuff. Even we haven't reservation we got our place on Christmas Eve. Prices are average for Edinburgh. Recommended!

Ate a very pleasant meal during festival time. That has to be a bonus. I was back in December and enjoyed a great meal with friends.

First time visiting this restaurant. Friendly efficient staff, great menu. Food was delicious. I would have preferred more subtle lighting as it was quite bright but that wouldn't stop me returning!

We've been coming here for years, and Voujon never disappoints! The atmosphere is chic with a modern decor and immaculately set tables. The service is second to none, and the curries are amazing. I would particularly recommend the ginger murgh, the North Indian chilli garlic chicken and the green herb chicken. However, my favourite curries are the salmon curries - I've eaten them all and they are excellent!

Tasty food, nice wine, cared about getting the orderright.

We've been past this restaurant literally 100's of times, always meaning to have a meal there, but never found the time. Well last week we decided to give it a try. Phoned on the Friday evening to see if we could book a table at short notice and were delighted we were able to. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table by a very pleasant, helpful guy. We ordered a starter and main meal each plus some Cobra beer. The staff were absolutely excellent and served us promptly. Now the important bit ..... the food was awesome, I mean absolutely awesome! The starters are big, you could easily share 1 between 2. The main meals were brilliant and again plentiful. It's a shame we wasted so many years walking past this restaurant. We can't praise them enough, absolutely loved it.

The interior really put us off, it feels far too bright and white. However, the food is really nice. The starters however are all very bland. We ordered veg samosa, chicken pakora and mixed dip/pickle tray. Nothing had much flavour, even the sauces tasted of very little. The mains were all 10/10. I had a fenugreek lamb curry which was one of the nicest curries I've had in my life. My family ordered Korma, south Indian garlic chicken and a curry with mixed fruit. They all commented that they were all lovely and full of flavour! The service was fine, a bit quiet and not very outgoing but efficient. I would come back but only for mains.

This place had a great range for people who don't like spicy foods and those who love it. Would definitely go again. We were a group of six and shared curries, rice, nann bread and wine! Loved the flavours.

This is one of the best Indian meals weve had it is super clean friendly staff the poppadom light & crisp the little dips to go with the poppadom s were excellent the main meal I had Kashmiri Chicken superb asked for a well fired nan with coriander I would definitely recommend this lovely place hope to visit soon thanks guys .

An excellent meal, probably the best pilau rice I’ve had for years. We could actually taste the saffron. So often turmeric is used to colour. Restaurant was pristine, white tablecloths and napkins. Staff were so friendly and helpful The price of the meal and drinks was great value for money. I have paid a lot more for much poorer quality food and service. If I lived in Edinburgh I would be dining here often. The choice of food is phenomenal and everything we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend .

Yet another fantastic night at the Voujon, very friendly staff and incredible food. What more could you ask for?

Being relatively new to Indian cuisine, we didn’t quite know what to expect, but we were eager to try something different. Voujon offers an option where the chef curates a selection of dishes based on your taste preferences, which was perfect for us. Our waiter took genuine pride in crafting our meal, and it was clear he wanted to ensure we had a great experience. The variety of dishes he brought out introduced us to a whole new world of flavors—some of which were completely foreign to us but all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. For those who might be hesitant about trying something new, I highly recommend Voujon for a welcoming and delicious introduction to Indian cuisine.

Beautifully clean and well-presented restaurant with professional staff and attentive management. Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not live up to the decor, being bland, unremarkable and distinctly un-Indian. If you're just after a casserole in nice surroundings, you'll probably find it just fine.

A truly beautiful meal. Had an assorted starter which was really good, and a bit different. Followed by mains that were among the best Indian meals we have had. Very helpful staff, and very polite. Would certainly go back. Not overly expensive for a major city.

Brilliant quality food and excellent service from friendly and helpful staff. Everything was so good and the atmosphere is lovely. Prompt but unhurried service and dishes were excellent to our taste. My wife is a wheelchair user and we were seated as we needed for me to assist her. Discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago but we will be revisiting regularly- highly recommended

Chic Indian restaurant in its welcome, white tablecloths and waiters in three-piece suits... very good Indian cuisine (we only tasted non-spicy dishes), tasty rice and local beers as well... no dessert... competitive prices...I recommend

This place was recommended and it was an absolute joy. The most beautiful white table linen. A lot of time and money spent keeping this restaurant looking pristine. Staff were all gentle and smiley. Lots of staff. The Peshwari naan was the best ever and the rest of the food was top notch too. The person who owns or manages this restaurant obviously puts SO much effort into getting everything the best it can be. Portions generous, colourful and all looked and tasted freshly cooked. Definite 5 ⭐️

Was able to get a delicious gluten-free as well as tomato-free dinner right off the regular menu. (Tomato-free is often difficult in Indian restaurants) Elegant decor and table settings. Excellent service.

We live locally and eat here frequently. The restaurant is lovely and has white tablecloths, quite unusual in a local restaurant, but this place aims for quality. Last night we had another consistently great meal. I’d recommend the Kerala chicken dish. Over the years every meal we’ve ever had has always been excellent. The staff are great. A mix of locals and tourists come here as there are many guest houses/B&Bs, etc in the Newington area. Enjoy.

We regularly go to Voujon, both for takeaway and to sit in. The food and service is consistently excellent. We're looking forward to our next visit.

They were serving a table of around 30 Danish teens on a school visit, but this didnt detract from the excellent service we received. My wife had Kashmiri Murghi - a fruit-laden korma which she polished off with no trouble. I had my usual chicken madras - a great benchmark to measure a restaurant's culinary quality. Perfect sauce with a good daah of lemon juice, chicken breast cubes were moist and fresh. We also shared a mixed meats starter - lamb, chicken, keema slice and onion bhaji with salad and raitha dressing - delicious. As an indian restaurant connoseur (self-appointed) I would highly recommend this restaurant if youre in Edinburgh.

Have been here three times for dinner and the standard is always very high. Everything is delicious and there’s lots to choose from. The prices are very reasonable as well and the staff friendly.

I had order 2 portions of lamb chops which the restaurant guy told me is 11.95 each 1 garlic and 1 plain nan so it must be around 29 or 30 pound including the delivery fee as told on the phone and they charge me 35.20 pounds delivery driver was not friendly and they took 5 extra by saying in the end that the water burger sauce of no use is 2.5 pound each which I have thrown in the bin worst online experience be Careful

Very impressed with the starched white tablecloths and real napkins! The staff were ultra smart and the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and we will definitely go back. My only criticism is that it was too bright. I would suggest dimming or killing the downlights and putting a candle (fake one even) on each table to create more ambience. But overall it was pretty good.

Visiting Voujon is always an excellent experience, and we make a point of dining there whenever we visit Edinburgh, which we do regularly. It is friendly and civilised, and the food is first class. Invariably enjoyable.

Positives: - Food was very good and tasty. - Service was reasonably good. Negatives: - A house fly kept landing on my Naan. - Doggie bag box had been used before (dry food not wet). - After Eight was the first in my life that wasn't the same as an After Eight.

They say you can judge the quality of cooking in an Indian restaurant by the quality of the lamb dishes, and how tender the meat is. We ordered a Lamb Karahi and a Chicken Jalfrezie. Both where exceptional (as was the pakora and assorted breads). The lamb was succulent and tender. We've been here many times over a number of years and it has consistently been excellent. We'll be returning before too long.

Yet another fabulous curry at Voujon. Never leave disappointed. Service as always with a warm smile. Such a relaxed restaurant it's always something we look forward to. Now the food. The Jalfrezie and Khatta Tarkary were simply superb. Such depth of flavour chicken cooked to perfection. Naan soft and delicious and my favourite Sag Aloo the perfect balance of potato and spinach beautifully spiced. Thanks to all the team at Voujon from front of house to the wonderful chefs creating such magnificent food. Our go to restaurant in Edinburgh 👍👍

We had a lovely evening in the Voujon. The service was brilliant, the food was wonderful, and the wine was exceptional. If you are in the Southside of Edinburgh you need to pay this restaurant a visit Personally recommend the Keralan Chicken.

I'm glad we stopped by to give Voujon a try. Good atmosphere and a good menu different from the usual Indian restaurant. Enjoyed my dish of half chicken curry. Although the chichen on the bone was slightly under cooked, which I needed to cut it about to avoid the under cooked bit. But it didn't distract me from a pleasant dish too much. Will try again.

Excellent Indian. Been our staple for well over a decade at this point. Extremely reliable and high quality food and the staff are all thoroughly lovely. Highly recommended.

I've been going to Voujon with my family since I was little, and evey time I go the food seems to get better! The staff are unfailingly polite and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I moved cities 3 years go and I'm yet to find an Indian restaurant does food on par with Voujon; truly the food they serve is some of the best I've ever had, the flavours are complex and delectable, and come in a wide variety. If you're looking for a new place to go with your family, a romantic spot for a date, or even just a good Indian takeout, I can't reccomend this place enough!!

Amazing service, fabulous pakora and amazing chicken korma and tikka masala. Order deliveries all the time! Perfect food.

Heel lekker gegeten. Wie niet van pikant houdt, eet lekker met Biryani (je kan zelf kiezen of je er kip, scampi, ... bij eet). Ook 'Rhogan Josh" is niet pikant, maar je moet wel van koriander houden. Wie 'Madras' eet, gaat de iets pikantere weg op. Wij namen er naan met look bij en was heel lekker! Vriendelijke bediening. Het eten liet een beetje op zich wachten omdat het druk was, maar dat vergeet je onmiddellijk als je proeft wat voor lekkers je op uw bord krijgt!

Very authentic Bengali cuisine. Loved the starter of puri and prawns. Haven't had something so good for quite a while. All dishes were deliciously prepared and served with elegance.

I ordered shatkora lamb with ghebath and the were so nice like home made ! you guys should try at least once. and they had a special dish which was very delecious it felt like i was in a paradise 🫠 and its specially made...

An excellent authentic Indian experience. The staff were very helpful and the food was great! I would highly recommend the lamb Briyani it was delicious.

I'm from Italy and I came to visit Edinburgh. I highly recommend you to have dinner here. The place was really nice and beautiful and comfortable. The food was amazing and very tasty. The service was top notch. Overall I really enjoyed my experience.

Love this restaurant. Go here often. As a vegan my dietry needs are always catered for. The food is lovely and the service always excellent. My meat eating friends always rave about their selections as well. 10/10
