disclaimer: I didn't go to the Dishoom in Edinburgh, but I just want to give a shout out to the lady who was based in the Edinburgh branch and was at the Dishoom + Pastis popup in NYC 2 weeks ago late august . She was so hospitable and lovely and although I forgot her name, she made everyone feel right at home despite how insane the line was at Pastis. Genuine person and she really defines the gold standard of what hospitality is! She gave me a tee shirt on the house cuz I was fangirling hardddd LOL.

My daughter and I dined here yesterday, the food was outstanding but the decor was like something out of the 1960's we were in the basement 3 flights of stairs to go down and all these wooden out of date tables and chairs, the place was very busy and far too noisy, the toilets badly needing like the dining area refurbished, I would go back because it's the best indian food i have ever tasted but please spend some of your profits and give the place a makeover

As an Indian, I found the food that we ordered to be pretty ordinary and on par with any average restaurant back home. Ambience was nothing exceptional and the restaurant, being popular, was quite noisy. The service was exceptional and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

My mom and I visited Dishoom twice on our trip to Edinburgh. Our first experience was so good, we had to visit again before we left. Both of our servers Ira and Yanko were very accommodating and personable. They were both very easy to talk to and they both genuinely cared about our experience. The food here was very flavorful. We tried a lot of different dishes and none were disappointing. These two deserve a raise in pay, excellent service.😊

Been away last 10 days in Avignon, France & then Edinburgh & this was easily the tastiest & best meal I’ve had. I would advise booking as there were people queuing without reservations when we arrived, food is top notch, service decent, prices reasonable. When the upstairs dining room is full it can get loud (minimal soft furnishings) but other than that (and us being given a cheaper bill for another table by mistake!), it was a great dining experience. Kudos to the Dishoom team 👌

Frankly speaking, the restaurant does not deserve praise. In the beginning, they take the name and we have to wait for the bar until there is a place in it. The bar and the bar go down a long staircase to it, and we have small children. Then half an hour later, they said, “Come on.” There is a table, and a table on a second floor. We can go up to it after a staircase longer than the one before it, and the food. I swear to God, I ask forgiveness from God, even the dish has spices and the atmosphere is full of annoyance

If I could I would give negative stars. We tried this place after being highly recommended by our friends. We were large party of 16, first they don't take reservations, once we got there had to wait 60 minutes and that too we all had to split into table of 4 or 5. We were placed in basement whereas some who were seated on main floor got table after us yet were finished early. Waiter wouldn't come on time, also was giving attitude. When we lost our patience and informed manager, next thing he comes to our table and confronted us (BIG NO NO). Not sure who will give a good rating after getting confronted. 😳🙄

We were completely impressed by the Dishoom in Edinburgh! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were captivated by the unique atmosphere - it felt like you had landed in a charming restaurant in Bombay. Our experience began in the stylish bar, where we relaxed and waited for our table with excellent cocktails. This waiting time was anything but annoying - it actually made us even more excited about the upcoming culinary highlight. The food was an absolute fireworks display! We had the pleasure of trying Paneer Tikka, Chicken Berry Britannia, Awadhi Jackfruit Biryani, Garlic Naan and Dishoom House Chaat - each dish was simply sensational. The Paneer Tikka was perfectly seasoned, the Chicken Berry Britannia was a wonderful mix of savory and fruity flavors, and the Awadhi Jackfruit Biryani was an exciting, flavorful dish that would satisfy even meat lovers. The Garlic Naan was fluffy and flavorful while the Dishoom House Chaat was a refreshing and crunchy starter that delighted us. Yes, the food here is worth every penny. The combination of high-quality ingredients, a great atmosphere and first-class service makes Dishoom an unforgettable experience. The staff is extremely attentive and warm, which rounded off our evening perfectly. Dishoom is definitely an exclusive restaurant, but it's well worth it - a must for anyone looking for a special dining experience in Edinburgh. We can't wait to come back!

I recently went to Dishoom in Edinburgh for dinner and had the pleasure of enjoying their Pau Bhaji, Salli Boti, Rumali Roti, and a comforting cup of Chai. While the line was very long and required some patience, the wait was well worth it. From the moment I took the first bite, I was blown away by the depth of flavor and authenticity in each dish. The Salli Boti was particularly impressive, with tender meat and perfectly balanced spices that created an unforgettable taste. The Pau Bhaji was wonderfully spiced, served with buttery, toasted buns that hit all the right notes of comfort food. The Rumali Roti was light, thin, and perfectly soft, making it the ideal accompaniment to the rich, flavorful dishes. The Chai was rich and aromatic, rounding off the meal beautifully. One of the best things about Dishoom is the value for money. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave feeling satisfied, yet the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of food on offer. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both in terms of quantity and quality, but Dishoom excels at both. The restaurant itself has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for anything from a casual dinner to a special occasion. Great service was provided by Pawel even though he was super busy, the incredible food and warm ambiance more than made up for it, making the experience truly memorable. Despite the long wait, I highly recommend Dishoom to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Whether you’re a fan of Indian/Irani cuisine or simply looking to try something new, this place offers an exceptional dining experience that won’t break the bank.

Massively overpriced. The food was good, but not great. I would prefer some more traditional Indian offerings. Our waiter was fantastic but clearly run off his feet by some very demanding tables. The thing I just cannot get over is the pricing. The pricing is well above what is justified. A very small portion of chicken curry and rice was £20.40. It was so small I ended up buying a side of roti for another £4.50 to bulk it up. The “small plate” of khichia was basically less than one popadom and a small amount of dips for £3.90. It was not enough for one person never mind to share. The gunpowder potatoes priced at £9.50 should clearly be sold as a side dish and not as a main “grill” dish. Reminds me of some of the other chain restaurants that have previously run into trouble for selling small amounts of food at unsustainable prices. It won’t last once the novelty has worn off. It was almost the same price for two people as for four of us a few days earlier at Miller and Carter for a much more substantial lunch.

13 August between 10 and 11 am and a 50-minute wait for breakfast! This is just a joke. We even chased a waiter, who said the kitchen was busy and promised to check and update us but never came back. We were late for our next reservation and had to buy new tickets. If you have any respect for your guests, you MUST warn them that they are going to have to wait for a whole hour to get an omelette. I’m sure the wait would get much shorter, too, as we surely would’ve gone to any other restaurant next door to order our omelette there. What a disgrace for the brand.

Service was good and well-organised. Was busy but was seated quickly. Food was OK. Good quality bacon on my Bacon Naan Roll but the dish overall only amounted to some bits of bacon and yogurt on a small sliced naan with a tangy tomato sauce on the side. Nothing wrong with the food but I wasn't massively impressed either and at £30 for my roll, a bowl of porridge and two glasses of OJ - I was disappointed. At least 5 members of staff came to the table several times to check what he was drinking. They removed his glass on one occasion! It was despicable!! Had breakfast at Dishoom yesterday, our third visit and the food was amazing as always. We had The Big Bombay, Keema Per Eedu and Sweet Uttapam Stack. Absolutely delicious. Our waiter Yanko was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back soon

Great service, beautiful atmosphere, and the food was so good we went twice in our 4 day stay! For sure get the bottomless masala chai and homemade naan rolls. Can't recommend enough!

The food was absolutely fantastic! I've never had a chai latte that compares to the one they serve here. I highly recommend it to everyone!

The interior really put us off, it feels far too bright and white. However, the food is really nice. The starters however are all very bland. We ordered veg samosa, chicken pakora and mixed dip/pickle tray. Nothing had much flavour, even the sauces tasted of very little. The mains were all 10/10. I had a fenugreek lamb curry which was one of the nicest curries I've had in my life. My family ordered Korma, south Indian garlic chicken and a curry with mixed fruit. They all commented that they were all lovely and full of flavour! The service was fine, a bit quiet and not very outgoing but efficient. I would come back but only for mains.

We randomly selected this restaurant as we were in Slough for a couple of days and looking for somewhere - we are delighted we did. As a family (kids 10 and 4) it can be difficult on a wet Wednesday night after driving 7hrs+ to get something everyone is happy with, but the staff were brilliant and organized our meal so there was something for everyone. They were also great with the kids and even though the restaurant wasn't busy I still felt they were attentive and ready to help for whatever we needed. The food was fabulous too. We each had a different meal and were struggling to decide which was best, my advice is to speak to the staff and let them know what you do and dont like and they can prepare it the way you want it. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all a lovely place and if we are ever in the area we will definitely be back!

+10 points for the option of the enormous jug of lassi. The Puri Yoghurt Bombs were delicious and a must eat delectable morsel. The service was prompt and friendly - a fresh take on Indian street food (a mix of the new and the traditional). The butter chicken was also delicious!
