Heerlijk gegeten voor een zeer betaalbare prijs. Vriendelijk personeel. We waren met z'n vieren en konden er zonder te reserveren terecht. Echt lekker Indisch eten. We hebben genoten.

Lovely, traditional family run restaurant with great food and reasonable prices

Edinburgh’s best Indian restaurant. Been going for many years and every visit has been a treat. Real Indian food served by friendly, likeable staff. Cannot praise it enough.

Food great, and plenty choice for vegetarians.

I had the very best marinated tandoori chicken , full of flavour and perfectly juicy . My dad always brings me here with mom , he swears by Pataka when it comes to enjoying a great curry with a fantastic service . I guess we will come here again soon

Our 2nd visit to Edinburgh and our 2nd visit to this gem of a curry house! My wife had the chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice, whilst I had a hot chicken vindaloo with rice also. Our naans were freshly cooked and piping hot. Staff were attentive, friendly and chatty. When we return to the city, we will definitely be making a point of coming back here, highly recommended.

We’ve had illnesses and then Irene broke her wrist and has been miserable. Before that we had Christmas and New Year. So it’s been probably three months or more since we were here. Boy! How I’ve missed the ginger saag dhal. I had that. Irene had a chicken dansak. We both had boiled rice and shared a fabulous peshwari naan. It was good to catch up with the guys and get the family news. The food was, always excellent and the service superb. It’s always a joy to visit Pataka.

No table booked but no problem and all staff very welcoming. Ordered main course each, jalfrieza, hot and Kathmandu, mild. Very popular for takeaway also. Great service.

I went for dinner with my mum and sister and were seated straight away. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered 3 curries and it was great sized portions and all 3 meals tasted amazing! Would 100% recommend

Omg what an Indian.....have to say when we travel we have an Indian no matter where we go and this Indian is In my top 3 . Friendly staff food amazing does what it say ls on the menu and you will come out absolutely full . We are staying on Princes Street but worth the 10 min taxi ride . Taste...flavours were amazing, just what I expected from an Indian and the portions were really good . My husband always asked for extra hot, and it's what he got ...which isn't the case in some restaurants but have to say 10 out of 10 well done guys .

We came to visit Edinburgh and we needed something comforting to eat for dinner as the weather was quite gloomy and rainy. We found Pataka and we immediately fell in love with the delicious food and the lovely atmosphere. Everyone was very welcoming and took good care of us. We definitely recommend Pataka if you’re around Edinburgh’s area and want to have proper Indian food.

With storm Babet impending we ventured out to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary courtesy of Rab and Cathy. Where better than Pataka for personal, friendly service and superb food? Some cricket chat from the young waiter added to my enjoyment. We shared a couple of starters: prawn purri and chicken tikka. Beautifully cooked and presented. I had the sabzi jalfrezi for the first time in a few months and that was thoroughly enjoyable. Rab renewed his acquaintance with the bhuna family, chicken this time I think. Irene and Cathy each had one of their regular favourites but I forget which. All fabulous and as far as we are concerned, the best ‘Indian’ cuisine available to us in a very wide area.

We went there for a family dinner. 4 adults and one child, we booked ahead. The atmosphere was perfect, service impeccable, and the food was the best Indian food I have ever had. Amazingly tasty, beautifully served and wonderful service from the staff. A truly excellent experience. If you are in Edinburgh and looking for good Indian food at reasonable prices then this is the place for you.

Pataka is without question the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh. The flavor of the curries are exquisite. I can’t help but come back week after week. Treat your friends and family to a fantastic meal and come to Pataka. The vegan options are stupendous. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this restaurant.

All the food we tried was lovely, we especially liked the chicken tikka biryani. Overall had a great experience at Pataka, the staff were all very kind and attentive. Will definitely be back!

It’s a lovely restaurant with friendly waiters! I’ve ordered a chicken Bhuna which is of medium spice, and a sarso bhindi for the side, they are all delicious and I strongly recommended them!

My wife and I ordered a collection from Pataka the other week. We had heard good things and we weren’t disappointed. The menu is vast but I like how they have recommendations on their website to help you decide. My wife went with the lamb Pasanda and I went with the Royal Murgha which was a recommendation. We got the Pataka Assorted Kebabs to share and boiled rice and a couple of naans. We ordered on the phone which was easy. I went in to collect. I was a little early but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They even gave us free poppadoms since it was our first time. I am afraid I can’t give a score for the atmosphere because we didn’t sit in but it seemed nice. The shop is small but nice. The food stayed warm when we got home. All the food was really tasty. Excellent flavours. We really loved the dips that came with the popadoms. My wife’s Pasanda was nice although she did think that the lamb was a little on the dry side but still enjoyable. Next time we would like to sit in because the food is always better that way.
