We visited as a group of 11 and had the set menu - the service was wonderful (prompt and efficient), the food was delicious and we have plenty to eat - we couldn't get enough of the onion bhajis! Love that you can bring your own booze and the venue itself. Will highly be recommending you to everyone I know!

Food was nice, very good service. Possibly the food was a little bit westernised. Nans could be bigger. The gulab jamin was a little bit of a let down, served quite cold and to be honest taste just like those i could buy from a supermarket.

Mango lassi was amazing. We ordered samosa chaat for starters, which turned out to be pretty good. For lunch we had garlic naan, daal makhni and tofu spinach. Daal makhni was great, tofu Palak could have been better. In desert we had gulab jamun with ice cream, which I would say was better than lots of places I tried in the UK. Value for money. They have the best staff.

Its tourist trap for indian food ... quantities are so little and justification is that they are a tapas place..we ordered daal makhani and roti which came under 5 mins of ordering...roti was stone cold and we were not able to break it .. Single roti was 4£ rest is upto you to decide Service was ok no complaints there

Myself and my partner go regularly to this establishment. We are always welcomed with open arms. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is always relaxed and very friendly and the service is second to none!

Amazing service and delicious food! This place proved that you can indeed find proper spicy food in the UK. I highly recommend trying the Bombay Chili Chicken and the garlic naan!

Visited for the lunch meal deal – 2x starters, 2x curries and 2x sides for a very reasonable price. Food was absolutely delicious and could not fault it at all. We opted for the chicken tika and samosas for starter, chicken korma and channa masala for main and a rice and peshwari naan for sides. Complementary pappadoms and chutneys also served to start. Portions don’t seem that big when served, but definitely more than enough food for 2 people. Chicken tika and channa masala were stand out choices for myself. We didn’t bring any of our own drinks, but nice to know that this is an option. Venue has a nice atmosphere, staff very friendly and attentive, and overall it was a great experience.

The food quality is very good. It's very hygiene. But the quantity of food they provide is very less. It's like the prasad in the temple, tastey but not stomach filling. The staff are friendly and you can request them to spice your dish accordingly. The photos they have put all around the restaurant is nostalgic and reminds you of all the bollywood movies. They have hung raj kapoor photo and madhubala photo outside the washroom to indicate male and female which is so funny.

Was great to try really yummy and authentic Indian cuisine in Edinburgh. Food delicious, great to see Thumbs Up and Limca as drink options. Also lovely environment. Highly recommend. Please open in London :)

First visit to Tuk tuk southside last Friday with an itison voucher. We had been booked the week prior but had a blow out en route so had to cancel last minute. Sanam could not have been more friendly and understanding. When we arrived for our booking, I was instantly drawn to the bright, friendly atmosphere. Service was impeccable. We were brought fresh poppadoms and a pickle tray whilst we decided what to choose. Delicious. My husband and I shared chicken lollipops (so tender with an amazing crispy coating) and some chicken tikka (marinated to perfection) For our mains, we shared butter chicken, and lamb lasooni. Both dishes were so incredibly tasty, and the rice and naan accompanying them were cooked to perfection. Servers were very attentive throughout and it's definitely a place I will return to.

Was promptly greeted and guided to a table for one. Took a bit for the server to show up, and the order of food and drinks coming out was a little mixed up. However, nothing happened to truly disrupt my experience and certainly not enough to not give 5 stars overall. I ordered mango lassi, prawns in curry, and classic naan. Each item was excellent. The lassi was perfectly sweet with a light, creamy texture and served in a brass cup. The naan was soft and airy, brushed with ghee, served as one large circle on a plate. The prawns were large and well cooked, although one still had a tail on it, which is not appropriate for this type of dish. The curry they sat in was…. Superb. A coconut base that was rich yet light. Buttery yet spiced. The briny, sea flavor of the prawns danced above the curry. At the end, coarse pepper corns that had settled to the bottom cut through the remaining butter curry in a fantastic finish. Did I really just write that nonsense? Yes. I did. And I stand by it. Tuktuk was great!!! Would go again without hesitation. Nay. With eagerness.

Best Indian food I’ve had in a long time. Absolute winner. You can rate an Indian restaurant based on its butter chicken and this is a prime example. None of that coconut infused sweet nonsense. This is the genuine thing. Daal and biriani we had was also superb

Ordered three dishes, but only ate 2 in the end - the dishes were amazing and very filling. It is BYOB, but the mocktails/juices are great so personally i didnt miss having alcohol as an option in all honesty! Service was great and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was great - indian themed decor and music too, would definitely visit again. Great for group dinners, but book in advance - it was busy!

We recently dined at Tuk Tuk Indian restaurant located in Edinburgh, and after trying numerous Indian restaurants across the United Kingdom, it was the first establishment where my family and I truly relished the food. The dishes were fantastic, served piping hot, and the staff were friendly and courteous. The restaurant offered ample space, and from the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a vibrant Bollywood-style atmosphere. Conveniently situated near the city center and the University of Edinburgh, I highly recommend visiting Tuk Tuk for an authentic taste of India in Edinburgh.

I'm always looking for new places in Edinburgh for a place to have a casual meal and Tuk Tuk hits the spot. A nice buzzy atmosphere on arrival with plenty of pre theatre diners heading to the nearby Festival Theatre, but not too crowded. We had a couple of dishes from the smaller menu and a couple from the larger one, including the delicious chutneys with the poppadoms. The food was delicious, very flavoursome without being overly spicy, the lamb in particular was soft and tender. Price wise, not too expensive given the amount of food and it's BYOB which always helps with the bill. Service was excellent and speedy, everything was explained if necessary and nothing was too much bother. We'll definitely be back.

We had been there for dinner. We ordered Yellow Dal, Saag Paneer, white rice, tandoori roti and pulao rice. The quantity of yellow dal was so less for the price. The rice dishes were not even fresh, hot and very less quantity. The roti was served plain without butter/ghee. Would not recommend going here if you are looking for good priced and tasting Indian food.

We went on Tuesday 12/03. We went around lunch time and I can honestly say this is the best Indian food I have ever had . The portion size was perfect and it allowed you to try multiple dishes at the same time. The staff were really nice and accommodating.I would highly recommend and advise anyone to try this place.

I gave 3 for atmosphere, it didnt feel like in India. Food was delicious, it was spicy af, they warned me but I didn’t care (it was a mistake). Everybody was happy xd

Arrived and received a slight smell of chlorine in the store. The waitress was nice, but donations were included in the bill without our consent. Owner pushed us for a 5 star review. Unfortunately, in the evening they both got food poisoning. Had to throw up all night long with severe stomach cramps.

Ordered through deliveroo. Absolute rip off. Pakora was 2 small pieces. Nans were small. Much smaller than in restaurant. 4 pieces of chicken in korma and staff wallah curry. Vastly overpriced tiny portions. Pompadoms soft and stale. This is 2nd and last time I order from the sothside branch. Feeling absolutely ripped off. Both ocassions food quality does not match that of sitting in tollcross branch. Avoid this place

So glad we found this place on a short break in Edinburgh with our 17 and 19 year olds. Have been tonight and the food was incredible, tapas style small dishes so we ordered 3-4 each (including the rice/naans) and we had plenty. The aubergine and potato dish, chicken 69 and butter chicken/paneer were especially good. I would say the best Indian meal we have had, everything was so tasty and cooked beautifully. Family loved the 'bring your own bottle' idea. Atmosphere was great and staff super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh!

The Lamb Lasooni is probably the best curry I’ve ever eaten out (and I say that as a big curry fan). The prices are insanely reasonable and the service is fantastic. Would highly recommend checking it out.

Up by the uni this is a hidden gem and the shop front belies the experience. Service by Michael was very attentive and informative with great recommendations. The food was super super fresh, authentic and totally delish, not your average but very carefully made and so tasty. Not expensive either and you can bring a bottle of wine. My hubby thought the samosa chaat was life changing and I am in agreement!

The food was insane! There was a great variety of different Indian meals on the menu. As it is a tapas place, best to choose two dishes per person and two sides. We had a few different dishes and all were really good. The service was also exceptional!

Tuk tuk the best indian food in town … railway style lamb curry was ultimate . Those chicken lollypops brought me back to india soo delicious . Dal tadka was on point but lamb was the highlight of my meal .. Everything was on point . Everytime you order food from tuk tuk ..same taste same consistency …. Highly recommended.

It was an amazing experience it's not every time I eat Indian cuisine but me and my partner were intrigued with the shop. We were greeted by knowledgeable staff that guided us with the menu and options. The food we had consists of 3 items each. Ample serving and all I can say is we'll thought of recipe. The taste of the food and the spices brought it up to a higher level. It's as fresh as you can get from the fire (no words). Sad it's not anywhere near London. Blessings to the branch and the people. Ordered (via their own website) for delivery and the food was almost an hour late. This is the third time this has happened. Each time I have gone back, almost a year later, as I love their food, but the service is absolutely appalling. I won’t be going back again.

This is the place to visit if you want to enjoy some Indian Cuisine. We ordered Pav Bhaji , Rose lassi and Veg Frankie and really loved them. The songs added a nice vibe to the place. Affordable food, a pretty place and tasty dishes.

Food is yummy. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own. FYI team the toliets really need cleaning!

Oh my goodness…. What can I say! Michael is an absolute revelation. It felt like he was serving me in his own home! I think the festive menu was an absolute hoot and all twenty of my friends have filled there belly’s with enough left over to feed the less fortunate. Fantastic Indian street food restaurant with two branches, the original in Tollcross and this relatively newer addition. The starters are all excellent, but the Imli Aloo deserves to be called out. Drowned in tangy tamarind sauce and topped with crushed Bombay mix, the potatoes are incredibly moreish. Order a selection of curries, breads and other sundries for main. The Bombay Chilli Chicken was deliciously spicy, while the Kerala Prawn Moilee cooled things down. BYOB as well (£1.50 corkage, beer and wine only), which is a welcome blast from the past.

Fatevi consigliare da loro i piatti se siete incerto su qualche pietanza, non sbaglierete! Il cibo è delizioso e dal prezzo competitivo. Il butter chicken è squisito, uno dei migliori mai provati, da accompagnare assolutamente al naan e al riso pilau! Se passate per Edimburgo non perdetevi questo posto!

We all went for something to eat at Tuk Tuk before going to a show. The food, flavours and value was simply outstanding. I had the train station lamb curry which was amazing. We will be back and would recommend it to all.

I was just craving Indian curry and chose this restaurant which has good reviews. It was sooo tasty and staff are so nice. It's a shame I couldn't get many dishes to try as I came here by myself.

I went at Christmas time ordered Daal makhani & Tandoori Roti. Daal Makhani was really good but the Roti was not that much great. Glasses were dirty and the vibe was just to order & eat. No friendly and happy experience comapring to other restaurants. I think that's the kind of behaviour you see in Indian restaurants.

Avoid - I wouldnt recommend this place Came across this restaurant, read the google reviews and thought okay 4.7 rating it will good food. I definitely wouldnt rate it a 4.7. The food was less then average, we ordered chicken tikka, chicken 69 and samosa chaat all were bland and need spice adding. The mains came out at the same time, to which the waiter replied oh its a tapas service so will come out whenever, we asked for it to be taken back to sit under the heater. We literally ordered and within 5 minutes the food had arrived, which makes me wonder how long the food was sat there. The chefs were stood around doing nothing when they could have been making fresh food. The mains werent great. We ordered butter chicken, railway lamb and daal makhani all of which we added salt too to add some flavour. We asked for the butter chicken to be made a little more spicer to which the waiter replied we cant as the sauce is done we can only add red chilli flakes to it. The rice wasnt cooked properly the grains were hard. When the waiter came over to ask if the meal was okay. We advised the food needed to salt and he just went away and didnt come back. Did not enjoy this meal at all! What a waste of £55.

I went to Tuk Tuk to have a nice evening with friends and the experience was nothing short of it. We were greeted by the staff and they very generously explained the entire menu to us. The food was very delicious and we ordered enough for the table knowing it was a tapas style restaurant. The plus point was they have a BYOB policy so you can bring your own alcohol. The staff was very helpful throughout. We really had a memorable evening ✨️

I had my lunch here today. I would say the food was good but the portions were too small even though the waiter said that before ordering but still was smaller than expected.. the butter chicken was a bit sweet for me, the lychee cooler needs to have a less sweetener .. i would not come back because of the small portions, other than this the experience was good!
