Professional, yet charming service in this very attractive restaurant, off the beaten track, near Fountainbridge. Spotlessly clean, the ample sized “tapas” portions are presented in most attractive authentic Indian tableware, and represent good value. Very good papadums w/pickle tray. Tarka daal excellent. Chicken tikka and Goan fish both tender but the sauces were similar and lacking something. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

An excellent restaurant. Great service, friendly more than polished, but in the best way. The food is fantastic and about half the price you'd pay if you walked 15 minutes into the city centre. It's even cheaper if you bring your own wine, and they don't charge corkage. Cannot recommend highly enough. (Have the Goan Fish Curry!)

Found this place on the off chance, walked straight in and was made to feel welcome. My order was taken quickly and complementary iced water was supplied. The restaurant was smart and modern. The food was great it felt like real home cooked food rather than your normal ghee ladened Indian food. The portions seemed on the small side but in fact there was just enough. So ate all my food without the feeling of being stuffed! The waitress was superb throughout my meal ensuring my water glass was topped up and plates were removed from the table once emptied. She also made sure the table was wiped and new cutlery was supplied between courses. I had the chilli chicken for starters followed by a chicken patia, mushroom rice with a garlic naan. All this with a coke came to £24. Very reasonable indeed. Wished I lived closer so I could go more often.

Very good tapas style Indian food. Sharing 3 dishes between two people is good, excellent freshly cooked Daal Makhani. Try the onion bhaji for staters. We’ll definitely be back.

We don't 'do' Xmas dinner for the family - They come on Boxing Day. So we are just home from our own style Xmas Dinner here We booked a while ago and when I dropped in a few weeks ago for a take-away, they asked us to let them know our choices from the Xmas Menu and a deposit of £20. That wasn't a problem. It seems to becoming the norm since I had received the same requests for another Xmas meal elsewhere. I can understand the reasoning - It saves having quantities of everything ready with the subsequent waste afterwards with what wasn't ordered. Anyway - To the food - The Xmas menu is not taken from the normal menu so is a good time to experiment with items you have never seen before So, apart from the Poppadums with pickles etc. appetisers, we had Makhmali Kebab and Chicken Manchurian, followed by Lamb Shank and Chicken Lababdar. The menu didn't explain these, but we doubted we would have a problem. We share anyway so, on the off chance that one of us didn't like something, they would just eat the other choice. But that didn't happen. Food was delicious (a word I don't often use) and service was to a similar impeccable standard. On paying the bill (Including the deposit, £91) we received a small prezzie & presentation box with notebook & pen. I could never go back to a Turkey style Xmas dinner

First visit to Dundee Terrace, although we've previously enjoyed many meals at the Morningside Road branch. Food was delicious, as always. We especially samosa chaat, chilli fish and lamb saag. Friendly staff. They do sell alcohol, but you can also BYOB

Absolutely remarkable, the best Indian in the area! The food was incredible and had a wonderful taste, would definitely recommend highly to everyone to go check this place out. Small and intimate, such a great range of food and amazing staff!!! The Goan curry is brilliant and the rotis are really nice!!! Prices are ideal and the atmosphere is a casual one. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we went but that was ideal for us. Ideal location for a date or to enjoy a meal with friends. Ample on street parking nearby, and staff are always friendly and happy to help.

Ordered 4 meals on Saturday eve ref Order #5342 with Deliveroo (4 mains, 3 rice, 2 naan, 1 chicken Pakora 4 poppadom) costing a pretty expensive £75 inc delivery. Had read good reviews and been recommended so thought I would try Masti. Food came in good time, and others said their mains were very good, but my lamb patia was pretty poor. £11.95 for a pile of sauce which tasted nice, but only had maybe 6 very small pieces of lamb. Chicken pakora portion although tasty, was disappointingly small also. Called Morningside to be told only Dundee Terrace do deliveries, only to call Dundee Terrace to be told deliveries come from Morningside. Both calls, a manager would call back. Never did. Disappointing so looking for somewhere else in Morningside.

Great Indian food (halal!) and great service overall. Waiter and waitress were both very helpful, but our main server was the guy and he was on top of it 👏 we ordered the papadum which came with four pickle dishes (especially loved the mango chutney). Afterwards we ordered the tadka daal with some plain nan. The bread was very soft and the daal was perfectly spiced. We then ordered chicken kali mirch and pilau rice, which were also delicious. As for the place itself, it had a pretty calm atmosphere and it was pretty clean. I especially appreciate the chair height to table ratio 😂 great service overall and great food.

Take-away chicken korma. Don't bother buying from here. Tub chock full of sauce and hardly any chicken.

Wonderful dinner, great taste and decent pricing. We had poppadums and pickles as a starter, we shared. Mains were a smaller portion of chicken tikka and aflame korma. Peshwari naan and chapati accompanied the mains. Tap water came free and we ordered one IPA. Bill was below forty pounds great deel and we enjoyed it till the last bit. Ambiance is ok. Staff very friendly. The place is clean.

Food somewhat flavourful but not traditional enough. Good portions. Very heavy on fats, sugar and spice. We were all bloated until the next day after having dinner here, not sure why that was. Service was overall good. Not planning to come here again

From an incredible host Amit,to serving Indian food which brought memories of my Dear mother cooking back home in Delhi! Food was authentic, fresh and cooked to perfection. A true gem on Morningside Road the Dal Makhni and Butter chicken , was outstanding cooked to perfection with pure white butter on top giving the perfect finishing touches.The personal attention given to us by Amiit deserves this 5star title!.For the life of me I cannot understand why people have to queue outside Dishoom in the rain when far better meals of quality fa exceeding that of Dishoom at half the price! The service was efficient and pleasant too!The whole experience was incredible!.This is going to be our venue from now!Thank you MASTI! KEEP IT UP!

Wide variety of dishes to choose from. The lamb is nice and tender. The atmosphere, music and decor are modern and relaxed. Above all else the customer service is phenomenal, would love to see this kind of service in other restaurants! I will Definitely return again.

Friend bought a £70 groupon voucher for £50 for 4 of us (we spent extra £6 each incl tip). Byob with zero corkage and very friendly re this. Food was excellent - particularly spicy fish starter, whole side of fishing in tinfoil (note for me spice ok but others found borderline too spicy). Other mains large portions (again happily asked and packed up leftovers incl nan and rice) these incl lamb curries (can't remember exact names) and spinach/chickpea sides. Only issue we had was Google maps trying to send up side street and on main street but luckily a large sign!

Chicken jalfrezi was unbelievably good.

Ordered Chicken biryani which is usually good as I do a deliveroo usually. But this time when I visited the restaurant , the dietary requirement was confused for the 3 of us friends visiting. Had asked the restaurant to kindly parcel my leftover biryani. They then packed it along with the raita (yogurt mix) in the same box with the biryani. Carelessness was at the height this evening at this restaurant. Couldn't help myself enough and had to leave my dinner at the restaurant which I had no idea what to do with. The waiter was apologetic but yeah I paid at full for the food and the awful service.

Veg pakora was rotten, I doubt they serve the same pakora if you sit in. Railway lamb was decent, but no better than a standard takeaway. May be good to sit in but won't be back for takeaway.

Been here for the first time with my friends and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here. Tried the Mixed grill and variety of lamb dishes. The flavours were spot on and best I ever had. The staff and ambience was also really good and I recommend everybody for any casual or professional gathering.

Excellent food. Veg Biryani was way above the authenticity you can get in Indian food in the UK. Bread was crisp and tasty - it's a must try restaurant specially if you love North Indian food.

Pakora well sized but overcooked. Vegetable jalfrezie.....some small diced carrots,peas and onion...no well sized vegetables to replace meat (i.e.potato,pepper).. And in a very sweet sauce with little spice. Nan and rice ok but overall disappointing.

Visited Masti last night and it was easily a 5/5 experience. I got a lamb bhuna and the lamb was incredibly tender, probably the best lamb I've ever had! The service was spot on too, super quick and friendly. Will be back!

During our stay in Edinburgh, we had a lovely apartment nearby Fountain Park. We "discovered" this fantastic restaurant. At first we we're a little surprised that we had to bring our own wine because we don't know this concept in the Netherlands. This gave an extra dimension to the delicious dinner we had. Such tasteful and fresh dishes... we could taste the love! Kadam and his team were very friendly, funny, and helpful. Because of the fantastic experience, we even went for a second time!

Service good food 🥲🤐: It is a good start but what makes a resturant great is the quality of food and service. The reason masti is good because of service and hence two star for service and one star for food. Like many high street so called authentic indian resturant Mastis food have not authenticity. The food have a high use of a spice that was giving metal flavour in the mouth. It was also desired that one can identify the food with the description on the menue. For example Dum buryiani should taste like a buryani rather then a pulao made in desi ghee. Also chicken kali mirch should be cooked in the sause that is named as kali mirch i.e. black paper rather using a universal base of standard tamato based puree sauce.

Masti is modern and elegant with an upmarket vibe, efficient young waiters serving excellent curries. BYOB keeps is very affordable. All round great experience and great value for money as well. Recommended!
