Unrivalled selection of quality ales

Excellent selection of beers, mainly Vocation obviously but with a decent range of guest beers on keg too (20 keg lines and 4 cask lines in total plus cans in the fridge). Burgers were delicious and the staff were fantastic. Bit pricey but worth it overall.

I don't usually post poor reviews for local places, and as far as atmosphere and service goes, Vocation is a good as it ever was. But I took some friends there recently and the food was really disappointing. We ordered both a burger and a pie. The burgers used to be fantastic but they seem to be a shadow of their former self. And the pies were mediocre at best. Such a disappointment. Come on Vocation, you can do better than this.

Very nice vegan pie, quick service, friendly staff. Shame they got rid of the vegan burger and loaded fries though.

While we friends were in Hebden Bridge, we don’t wanna miss Vocation. So here we are. Great selection of their own beers and some from other brewers. Food wasn’t bad either. Good service and friendly staff. Lovely location. Well worth a visit if you’re craft beer lover.

Used to be amazing. Getting a bit lazy now to be honest. Very few guest beers. Food used to be ace now gets lazier and lazier, and not great value. Packed at weekends with tourists so clearly don't need to do more than this but what once was my favourite bar in the valley is now down to 7 or 8.

I visited this real ale pub on the 19th of May 2021. I found this establishment to have friendly, helpful staff . I also found the pub will, when covid gone to have more than the 2 current vocation ales on real ale this pub has a lot of craft ales on now though Well worth a visit when in Hebden Bridge. Edit: Just went back and saw their new menu, at £16 FOR JUST A BURGER (no chips either) we will absolutely not be coming back as we're locals who can't afford that kind of price rise. What the hell? ---++ Usually the food here is sooo good but the festive menu sucks right now. The vegan festive burger was the same price as the (non vegan) buttermilk burger but is incredibly sad in comparison (see photos). It looked and tasted like something I could slap together at home from the freezer section, compared to the equally priced and generously large meat counterpart. Additionally both meals came with roast potatoes and a tiny amount of gravy. The roasties didn't taste like much at all and sadly contributed to the worst meal I've had here so far. Overall, come here for the burgers but give the festive menu a miss because it does not live up to expectations.

Just popped in for a quick drink, great selection of beers and ales,staff were very friendly. Do suggest if your here pop in you won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous food! A bit pricey but love to come here as a treat. We miss Slap & Pickle but the new menu still has delicious burgers & the staff are very helpful. Fab selection of beers too!

This is one of my favourite places to visit anyway, excellent drinks and food. Always a warm welcome and really helpful staff... this time I just want to thank the wonderful guy with the blonde hair (I'm so sorry I didn't get your name). He went above and beyond to help me with my recently discovered dairy and egg intolerance. I really struggle to eat in a lot of places where they can't or won't adapt food or have very limited options available for someone who can't eat dairy or eggs but doesn't want to be restricted to only vegan options everytime. I was made to feel like nothing was difficult about my requirements and they swapped the cheese to vegan cheese for me which meant I could have my favourite dish loaded burger fries and the vegan cheese was exactly the same as natcho cheese so zero compromise on flavour. I was absolutely blown away by how lovely it was to have someone take care of my intolerances and make me feel at ease about asking. Obviously excellent drinks and all staff were lovely.

A very nice ambiance in this place! Everyone was really nice and the beer was pretty nice! If you are a lot of people, don’t get in too late though as it gets crowded over the afternoon 🌟 Would definitely recommend if you are coming by Hebden bridge and want to have a great time!

Good beer and the burgers were ok, but the burgers are no longer astounding like they used to be, we used to make frequent trips here for a special treat, but will do so no longer.

Super set up. Beer, food and fun. In March you don’t get the benefit of the outside view of the canal but inside is set up really well into different areas. The bar is great and we had a separate booth area for our food. Smash burgers were delicious and the beer was excellent. The team there were great and Crispin was just lovely / thanks to him for making the evening really great.

Best burgers out in ages. Great beer. Gluten-free and dog friendly. Lovely servers and wonderful service despite ordering at bar. Decent prices. Sooooo satisfied and can’t wait to go back if/when we move here as planned!

Average in all ways. Ok burger. Ok Big Mac fries. Place rather dead. Mediocrity at its finest

Usually love coming here for food, but something’s changed. The menu still serves burgers, but is no longer Slap ‘n’ Pickle and it shows. The burgers weren’t smash style and overall just a bit lacking in comparison. Bring back the OG’s!

There is a good selection of craft beers and non-alcoholic beers! The place is huge and very popular, so it’s loud. I didn’t order any food, but their crisp selection is good!

Was really looking forward to a beer and a burger with my wife and daughter after a really lovely walk around Cragg Vale. I was expecting friendly service at a pub in Hebden Bridge…but I have never been spoken to in such a poor manner by someone in the hospitality trade. She was visibly miserable before I had even asked to order. We walked out and will never return. Other customers couldn’t believe what she was like…but regulars said she was always like that. Please can I recommend that you find a different job!!

Part of a group of eight last night. Really friendly service. Small food menu but done very very well. Beer choice and quality is fantastic. If we are in the area again will revisit. Highly recommended

Heart & soul is perfection in a glass for us ale drinkers so the fact it is indeed gluten-free is a win win , an alternative g/f cask ale was on offer the day we visited . Great vibe , great surroundings the only thing that lets it down is the food side no g/f options same fryer used for everything and the fries looked amazing 😢

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and a Monday afternoon when in the area, two different vibes amd enjoyed both, great selection of craft beers, amazing burgers.

Great place to chill out. Great selection of different beers twenty to be precise and Great burgers and loaded fries to choose from. Well worth visiting and next time I'm in hebden bridge will definitely be visiting here again to sample some excellent beers and food. PS the bar staff are brilliant aswell

Had a nice couple of beers here. Different (increased) price to drink in if you are getting a can from the fridge, so watch out for that. Bar staff friendly enough.

This is a great venue. The choice of ales is great. I wouldn't go as far as to say I am a burger connisur, however I always try and find the best burger in every town or city. This was definitely up there. I would probably buy 2 in one go! I purchased the Han Solo with cheese and a half pint of ale total cost £11.50.

Food was fab, and of course, the beers were amazing too! Will definitely be back every time we come to Yorkshire.

Order of coffees and hot chocolate were sitting g on the bar for a while till we told them. Order arrived cold. And the hot chocolate had no flavour at all :( when mentioned, they offered sugar to add and make it sweeter :) poor, poor service. We popped here for our anniversary as we’d been before and had the best burger ever. Yet again we were not disappointed it was excellent and the loaded fries were very good again.

We ate here recently and had a couple of disappointing burgers. They didn't seem to be as good as they have been in the past. This is probably because of the lack of anything moist on the burger other than a hint of relish and a few tiny pickles. The price difference for having a cheese slice on the second burger? £1.50. I could buy a cheese slice for between 10p and 18p. So that is at least a 733% markup, assuming they use expensive cheese slices and ignoring trade discounts. We'll be coming back for the beer, but not for the food.

Absolutely amazing. Vocation has some of the best beers, and the burgers are amazing! Juicy, full of flavour and really filling!

Both the beer and the food were excellent. We had the burgers, loaded fries and onion rings and enjoyed everything. The Vocation beers have something for everyone and very tasty.

Great bar with a wide selection of beers and a burger offering. Burgers were tasty. Sharing platters of fries feed 4, we had the mock duck hoi sin which were fab.

Amazing beer selection sorted by a lovely wine menu. Absolutely nothing to criticise other than it gets absolutely rammed busy on Saturdays, which is hardly their fault but you need to know.

Death by Mangoes sour 4% and Naughty & Nice Coconut 10% and U OK HON?: Pineapple Hot Honey sour 6.5%. 12/08/22: Hebden Bridge Ale Trail: Vocation are outstanding at brewing beer. When I say beer, I should state Craft Ales, Porters, Stouts, Sours and general Session Ales. They have catered and created something that everyone can find a favourite of. Part of our Hebden Bridge ale trail, it was our first stop and for me, probably one of the best places in Hebden Bridge. We didn't sample any food, although thr menu also looked impressive (burgers and fries). We drank Death by Cherries cherry sour, Life & Death Session IPA and Sunset Overdrive piña colada sour.

Delicious food. Love that every burger can be made vegetarian or vegan. The vegan duck fries are the best

We've eaten A LOT of burgers in our time and this was quite possibly the best we've ever had. We both had the Smokin Bun - juicy, but not greasy and very tasty. And goes without saying, but the beer was great too 😀

Called in here New Years Day. Lovely setting, plenty of seating, great choice of beers (including sours), very friendly knowledgeable staff. As well as having a drink on site we bought some cans & new glasses to continue the joy of Vocation beer at home. We’ll visit again next time we’re in this area, but I’ll still continue to buy my Vocation beer via their web site too. (Didn’t order any food, as not ready to eat when we were there, but their menu looked very inviting)
