VIP Pizza Saltdean in Brighton and Hove

It’s great whenever we go there we have a good time 5/5 :) Excellent pasta the sauces are always amazing and the chips are delicious!

Went here for our final night visiting Brighton on holiday. The atmosphere in this little restaurant is lovely and the food is superb. The menu itself has quite the variation and there's something for everyone on it. I thought it would probably be mostly pizza but there were pasta dishes, sandwiches, as well as a choice of pizzas with no cheese etc. We had a sharing board for our starter which consisted of various deli meats, sourdough, and mozzarella. My boyfriend also had some olives which he said were 'amazing.' I personally hate olives but when I tried one, it was certainly the least worst tasting olive l've ever tried so I think that says something lol. We shared a pizza margherita for our main which was probably one of the best pizzas l've ever had as far as sourdough pizzas go. The service was impeccable. We accidentally ordered the wrong pizza and the staff were willing to refire it for a different one, as well as remove it from the bill which was very generous. We left a hefty tip as we felt quite bad for the mistake on our part. The prices of the food were pretty good too, especially considering we shared a starter and a pizza. The olives were £5 which I thought was pricey but it might be normal for Brighton. I was very happy with the experience we had at VIP and l'd definitely recommend it to anyone who feels like having authentic pizza.

Celebrating mums 81st birthday! So disappointed- food was lovely but service was poor … we arrived for our 18:30 - our drinks order and food order was taken and meals received quickly but then we were left on our own, no offer of dessert, no offer of coffees or any further drinks. At one point a man was waving for attention, a waiter said to his colleague he is waving -‘ oh he can wait was the response’. My mum has wanted to go here for so long she was so disappointed by the experience not the food that’s lovely - left by 19:35! I did advise the staff of my disappointment - no apology just thank you for your feedback. Such a shame service has changed so much since my last visit.

We didn’t book went in the week as a walk in about 5.30 no problem getting a table. Waiter was very good nothing too much trouble. The lasagne was supposed to have pasta and meat in it, it was shocking for the money mainly tomato sauce and some cheese. I could have counted on my fingers the odd little bits of mince and where the pasta was who knows?? We eat at Italians all the time and this was a lasagne to miss!!!

Taking friends to our favourite local Italian to cheer them after they had been through a difficult few months. Disappointed to be served all evening by a waitress who was silent and fuming about something to the point of absolute rudeness and dismissal. We all tried to lighten her mood and attitude for the first half of the evening, with no improvement. Any attempt to offer our friends a relaxing or uplifting evening was scuppered, and we left feeling we would have had better customer service in the chip bar. An unpleasant evening despite the usual good food and great company. Such a shame VIP.

The food at VIP is superb, never had a pizza here, good Pizza is available everywhere. The pasta the gnocchi the food and ingredients are second to none. Eat Italian eat here. It’s cramped atmospheric busy and Italian, love it.

Best pizza I had in 12 years I am living in Uk. Ingredients are amazing, location is really matching the Italian genuine style and the service is the cherry on top! The people really makes the difference in making you feel relaxed, comfortable and “at home”.

Thought would try this place as seemed very popular. Very busy and great atmosphere but sadly that’s all that was positive. Risotto was very substandard and pizzas were very bland.

This is an excellent and authentically Italian restaurant. I suspect, to be more precise, Southern Italian restaurant. The Italian receptionist at my hotel recommended it. I am grateful to him for doing so. I liked lunch so much, that I couldn't resist coming back that evening for dinner. In short, the food, décor, atmosphere, service, were perfect. The prices are reasonable for the quality provided. I will definitely be back next time I am in Brighton.

been to vip many times but to be onest service went down a lot it was better before,ever time we go there there is some one new,our waitress was not the best,we order some drinks and came late and miss 2 drinks,the food was ok but it was better before so nothing special, its a very small place so dont have a lot of space to move around.

Service an staff fantastic however food was either very salty or extremely tasteless too many covers for the space provided left a tip for staff not food won't be back which is a shame

Really nice Italian restaurant to be honest one of the best in Brighton, the piazza was really good the real Italian way, Place was small but nice. customer service was ok it needs to improve as our waitress was a little slow we had to ask for our drinks 2 time, but for the rest it was ok.

Love this place. Great-tasting pizza with quality ingredients. Never a letdown and always leave satiated and happy.

It was a very windy day and we decided to head home early but needed to eat. Called into this little gem at short notice and were given a seat straightaway. Don't let that put you off because the food was excellent and the ambience equally so. Highly recommended.

Really cool and cosy Italian restaurant. Staff were very friendly. Calzone could have had more tomato sauce filled in the middle, but other than that it was great!

My son has been raving about VIP and took us as a treat. I wouldn't normally order pizza but he recommended I gave it a go, wow very tasty and the dough is light and fluffy. Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you to the lovely staff too.

Been going there since the opening and was amazed with the food and the atmosphere had a few takeaways in lockdown which were ok but went there tonight withe the family and was very disappointed the large meat board was not like before no fresh tomatoes bread was not there normal pizza bread but french bread chilli oil was from a shop sea food was all clams and mussels and over cooked my pizza or though base good very dry no sauce kids pasta very dry also had to keep asking for the pepper as it seemed that they only had a couple for the whole restaurant as it keeper going back and forward and as a whole I will never go back there again

Came with some friends and had pizza and the garlic bread, absolutely delicious. A very extensive menu which was a bit hard to chose from but a brilliant range of stuff on there so probably something for everyone. Waiters were very nice and felt looked after whilst eating here.

We come from Cambridge to eat here, it’s there best we’ve found. Have eaten pizza all over Italy and this place is the best. Great service, great atmosphere and honestly the pizza is incredible. Brighton branch. Great value, quick service, knowledgeable, can’t recommend it enough. Go in restaurant if you can, just go. We never finish our pizzas and always take home.

I am a regular customer and I love their restaurants and food. However last night I was very disappointed with my received order ( delivery ) . Upon receiving my order I noticed that the take away containers have changed from cardboard to plastic with cellophane lid. I ordered fries which I usually love because of the crispiness but with the new packaging and the fact the food was not able to breath the fries sweated inside the packaging and were all limp and soggy ( please see attached photo ) . Also the lasagna I ordered suffered the same. Not the usual standard I’m used to from VIP. Please go back to your previous ( cardboard ) also environmental friendly take away packaging!

We picked up a couple of takeaway pizzas last night and honestly they were amazing. The best pizza I've had in a really really long time. What I often find with pizzas from places like this is that by the time you get them home they're already cold and have lost their flavour, but not so with this place. They kept their heat and the flavours were truly out of this world. The prices are quite high but once you see the size of the pizza you get and you taste the quality, you quickly realise it's worth it. This will become a firm favourite. Will definitely visit the restaurant too once they can reopen.

Ordered three pizzas for delivery and had to get one re delivered as they sent out a burnt pizza. Disappointing as one person had to wait while others ate. Surely you should quality check pizzas before you send it was obviously burnt.

Was very blessed a few years back to be taken to Rome by my Sister for my Birthday where we ate and drank very authentically for our entire stay. The cuisine blew me away and never since my return had eaten Italian cuisine that ever came anywhere near..... Until last week when a friend ordered us pizza from VIP Saltdean to be delivered. From order to delivery was very speedy,QUATTRO STAGIONI was our choice. It was piping hot, diliciously crispy base, exquisitely flavoured and more than ample topping. I'd found Rome..... In Saltdean!! Thank You VIP, keep up the amazing work! 10 out of 10!

Saltdean isn't exactly spoilt for choice with restaurants, so it's lucky this is a good one! We eat here pretty regularly and it's reliably great pizza and pasta, both in the restaurant and as a takeaway.

Second takeaway first was average second below average burnt flavourless staff taking orders un professional. Having been to Italy many many times. These are no where near as good. You have lost my families business bye

He comido dos pizzas en VIP, y después de la segunda me di cuenta de que hay algún aditivo de algún tipo, a pesar de que dicen que todos los ingredientes son naturales, posiblemente MSG. Me sentí irritable, ansioso después de comerlos. Es un restaurante animado, pero evítelo si tiene sensibilidad alimentaria.

Visité ayer para cenar. Estaba lleno de gente. Las mesas no estaban alejadas entre sí para los clientes de "protección covid", estábamos sentados en una mesa demasiado cerca de la barra donde los clientes estaban sentados y el personal pasaba con frecuencia, por lo que no había planificación de su parte. Usamos máscaras hasta que llegó nuestra comida. El servicio tampoco era bueno: los camareros charlaban largamente con los clientes que conocían y que estaban muy cerca. Comida apenas normal.Cuando fui a pagar (sin contacto) el camarero me preguntó cuánta propina quería agregar. ! ! ! ! no hace falta decir que no di propina.No volveremos a ir allí, el estándar había caído drásticamente desde cuando lo visitamos en diciembre del año pasado

First restaurant visit outside of Birmingham and could not fault their COVID-19 precautions! All staff following guidelines and made the whole experience Calming and stress free! Food was amazing as always as was the service! Absolutely love this place! Isn’t worth a trip down south without coming here xx

My first visit to any restaurant since lockdown, I was a bit nervous, not knowing what to expect, but I have to say this was the best experience! The staff were amazing and the food incredible! Social distancing and PPE in full action making sure all customers were taken care of and protected really put us all at ease. Can’t wait to come back for more delicious food, thank you!

So, as we all know were still in the middle of a pandemic. Although this seems to have bypassed some of the VIP employees. Only one was wearing a face covering, the others had it strapped to the chin or dangling off an ear. Then some just didn’t bother altogether, including our waiter. I absolutely understand that some people may not be able to wear one, so wear a visor instead.I’ve eaten now at 3 establishments after restrictions lifted all were absolutely brilliant and gave me good faith in returning to restaurant dining. But this was just a joke.As nice as your food is VIP, which there is no doubt. Your care and consideration for your community and patrons is shocking. Please start taking this seriously.Yes the tables are few and spaced apart and you’ve got paper plates and disposable table cloths. Your menus should not be re-used really, seeing as they are paper. How do we know? A child had lovingly scribbled a message to us.You really can do much better than this.Avoid, during this time. To risky.Let’s hope you don’t have an outbreak.

The food and service and VIP Pizza are fantastic. The truffle pizza is amazing and the staff are welcoming and patient with young children. I’ve been more times than I can remember and have always had a good experience.

Driving around Bank Holiday Monday, deciding what to eat for dinner. VIP Saltdean came out very appealing, we phoned and ordered 3 pizzas. Collected the pizza very friendly Italian lady best pizza in Sussex. Can't recommend them enough. VIP

Lovely looking pizza delivered but couldn't eat as was late and very cold. Think they should stay local to Saltdean or get a better delivery service. Tasted good what I ate but £3 delivery for cold and late meal means I won't be ordering again.

We have visited this restaurant a few times because the food is so good. Each time however we have found that after being shown to our table we were ignored. It resulted in having to go to the counter and ask to be served. Restaurant not even busy and staff apparently stacking Pannetone etc!! Why oh why can they get it so wrong , or does it just happen to me. Will give it another go as soon as this lockdown is over. Fingers crossed.

Live in Saltdean and my wife and I have been here on several occasions. The food is always good, the setting lovely and the staff friendly and attentive. Also, if you’re just after a drink, then it’s good for that too with good wines and good Italian beer on draft. Highly recommended...

I have only been a couple of times to this restaurant and can confirm that on both times the food was fabulous. Sadly on both occasions the service was atrocious. It was if we didn’t exist. Tonight the restaurant only had about three tables, we were acknowledged as we arrived and then promptly forgotten. I would have dearly loved to have given you a 4 or 5 as the quality of food warranted it and it was very authentic. It won’t stop me from visiting. Just try a bit harder next time I promise a higher score and a tip!

Excellent We went toNaples in September and thought the food was amazing and to now find authentic Neapolitan food at home is fantastic.Great atmosphere, wonderful starters and pizzas . No room for dessert ,Good service from a charming Italian waiter.Can’t wait to go again and same more of the fantastic menu .

Came here after a recommendation from a man at the reception and couldn’t have been happier to visit. The BEST food and incredible value. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you; it’s clear the Italian passion for food is so present here

This makes me so sad! Although I can not fault the pizza at only £1 a slice the service I received has left me never wanting to come back. An empty shop at 3 in the afternoon and a waitress with a face like a slapped arse. Rude, unprofessional and simply vile to me and my little sister. Ignored and food slammed on the table. A real shame as I will not be visiting again. A smile goes a long way in life. Christmas cheer is in desperate need.

I only ever write reviews on Trip Advisor if something enters into the pantheon of 5 star experiences. I was introduced to this 2 days ago and am now a complete and utter convert. A hybrid deli and restaurant it manages to hit the mark on all fronts. The pizza is out of this world...generous sizes and there is no paucity of ingredients - and the salads are also great (haven’t had any pasta dishes yet). Service couldn’t be friendlier and I am now not sure how I can ever eat another pizza again that isn’t from VIP!

Walking into VIP suggested a very authentic Italian experience so expectations were high. Unfortunately the pasta main dishes were underwhelming and rushed. The pizzas that were served were the best part of the experience. The cooking here needs to be more consistent across the board.

Visited VIP for dinner with a group of 4. We were sat in the rear area and despite being a marquee it was really well dressed. It was a little chilly at times.

Evening meal with my wife. Beautiful shared starter followed by lovely mains, consisting of pizza and warm salad. Nice bottle of red and sparking water. Finished of with 2 amazing desserts. All staff very friendly and helpful. All for less than £60. Fabulous.

My sons girlfriend arranged the surprise, for our sons 30th. From the minute we arrived, the service was brilliant. The staff were attentive & organised.

The pizza was amazing! Great location, nice decor, cosy, romantic and very well priced! The only let down was we were sat for a while before being acknowledged which was a shame but all around lovely evening.

The interior of this place is authentic with lots of Italian products on shelves of which you can purchase and it is a small, quirky environment.

Been to the one in Brighton, saw this on a walk with my mum so thought give it a try. Lovely 5 cheese pizza , mum had spaghetti pomodoro , boy delicious. Great wi e and brilliant service

Just had slow cooked pork belly with vegetables in a veggie gravy. One word, well two... Another level! The gravy deserves a shout out, deep, sweet and fantastic. Umami.

Family dinner on busy Saturday night, ordered way too much food, seaweed fritters, spizzico, parmigiana and a sharing plate to start with, all very nice would have been helpful if they had explained what the items were on the sharing plate as some of us on the table were non-meat eaters. We decided wisely to not eat all of our starters so we still had room for our mains, for mains we had lasagna, carbonara, avocado salad, porchetta and tuna. The carbonara was on the watery side and the tuna had that chewy/woolly texture it gets when it has been microwaved. Overall probably the best meal I have had at this restaurant so far, parmigiana was probably the best dish, tuna had nice smoky taste but let down by texture and over cooked. Let down again with the wine here, poor choices, overpriced and white wine served warm. Our waitress was nice until we asked if she could pack up our leftovers for us, then her face sort of changed and she begrudgingly went off and did it for us. Restaurants really have got to get over this thing of making people feel stigmatized for asking for their leftovers to be packed up. Overall meal better than I expected, however still not a patch on food you'd get in Italy.

Great food lots of choice, busy for a Monday but fitted in by staff. House wine excellent, all courses tasty and great value. Would defiantly recommend.

I've seen this place rated online, but when I got outside it didn't look like anything amazing. However once you step in it's literally like teleportation to an Italian restaurant. The staff, the food, the atmosphere... everything! We had pizza and I have to say it was the only place I've had pizza in the past 2 years in England where it was as nice as in Italy.

We visit VIP pizza year after year on our weekend trips to Brighton and it never disappoints. The hand stretched pizzas are truly delicious and our little girl loved the heart shaped pizza that was made for her. We actually ate here twice in one weekend! I'd recommend booking ahead, especially on a weekend as we couldn't get a table on the Friday evening so had a takeout instead. The restaurant is relaxed and has a really authentic and intimate feel which we love. See you next year!

This was probably the tenth or maybe twelfth visit to this restaurant. I live in Spain and visit the UK a few times each year, usually staying in the Brighton area. VIP Saltdean is one of my favourite restaurants. Good food, lovely ambience, charming pleasant staff and very reasonably priced. This visit was especially enjoyable as I met up with a very good friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed VIP - again! Highly recommend this restaurant. Always memorable for all the right reasons.

We went for an early evening meal as we had heard such good things about the food here. Such a shame about the customer service, it was not busy yet we had no acknowledgement from the waitress when we arrived and were eventually shown to a table. She was not friendly at all.

Druk italiaans restaurant van echte Italianen. Uitstekende kwaliteit van de gerechten (veel meer dan pizza) en dito wijnen. Mensen stonden op de stoep op een tafel te wachten, reserveren is aan te raden.

A really good find as we were house hunting and needed lunch. Quite basic inside, rustic furnishings, very Italian and friendly. Food was freshly cooked and extremely flavoursome. A varied menu with something for everyone but not over complicated. Would really recommend for lunch or early supper. Couldn't drink the wine as I was driving but they had my favourite San Pelegrino limonata so I was happy. My husband really enjoyed a large glass of the house wine. Coffee is really good too!

I've been to Italy a few times and tried the good and bad there and this place is the closest to the very best I've had in Italy, it's really good food using quality ingredients and they get it spot on.

Menu has something for everyone. The food was freshly cooked but the wooden boards are unhygienic. The pizzas seem to have got saltier than when we last ate at VIP.

There's a great Italian buzz to this restaurant and it doesn't disappoint! The friendly staff are quick and efficient and keep tables beautifully clean and tidy between parties, even on a busy Saturday night. Using the best quality ingredients, the chefs magic up treats for everyone from children to the most sophisticated diner. Pizzas and pasta make up the bulk of the menu, but these are really terrific pizzas and pasta dishes. The wines are surprisingly good, way better than expected. We'll be back!

Try and get to this restaurant once a month. It is normally packed as there is no where else to eat in Saltdean in this area. Went with work friends, 5 of us, food good, service from arrival (booked table), to drinks, to ordering to attempting for 45 minutes to pay the bill by this time the restaurant was almost empty - awful as usual. Be prepared for terrible service and you will be ok. One waitress Ex of Donatello is great. If she is on duty you are very lucky.

I was rejected because I was solo. The couple after me in the queue got a table literally 1 minute after I left. I could even see them getting the table and they hadn’t booked because they told me so while we were queuing.

Came here for food before a night out, and I cannot fault the place! The Napoleta pizza I had was superb, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the house red was! Definitely come here for an unforgettable experience!

I admit, I am not a pizza! The pizza I am usually faced with is from Ask, Pizza Express, Domino's, etc etc. I find them bland, artificial, stodgy and I can't see what the fuss is all about.

Very lucky to have this Authentic Italian pizza place on my doorstep, the food never disappoints. I usually get their pizza to take out, but this time dined in. I was however disappointed to see they still use plastic (straws). I think responsibility needs to be taken here to make this very simple change, especially as it’s based so close to the beach where the plastic problem is very apparent.

A great lively restaurant, food was great and served quickly, such a friendly place to, quite cramped as the tables are close together but not a real issue, make sure you book though ! really good value !
