My wife and I visited this tea room on a whim whilst walking around Bridgnorth. Given the small entrance on a side-street, we didn't know what to expect... but the views from inside are lovely. The food tasted great, the service was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!

We found this just off the high street (thanks to the sign at the top of the road) & were pleasantly surprised by the menu & extremely reasonable prices. The owner & staff were so welcoming & chatty on our first visit and we had a great view across the valley. Our second visit later in the week was very busy but they squeezed us in. We were still made to feel welcome & service was still quick. The food is very good quality, well cooked & nicely presented. There’s a lovely choice of food throughout the day with an amazing choice for afternoon tea especially. Great provision for children too. The cakes looked amazing - however the lunch was so filling we didn’t have room! Can highly recommend and we’ll definitely be visiting again when we’re in the area.

Awful watery tea, one teabag in an enormous pot. It drowned. Waitress uncaring and unhelpful, dumped another teapot on our table and walked away without looking at us. It too was awful. Never again!

I’ll start with the positives . My two young grandsons enjoyed the experience with lots to occupy them and a decent breakfast with plenty of choice and more if wanted. The elves were kind and helpful but Santa lacked much personality and certainly wasn’t very jolly. The negative has to be my gluten and dairy free breakfast which was greasy, lukewarm and overcooked plus the tinned tomatoes were very off putting. As a Coeliac and dairy free I strongly suspect that somehow I was glutened .( I’m paying the price today). After contacting the tearooms this morning they’re insistent it didn’t come from the kitchen and suggested it was due to sitting amongst others who were eating gluten . As my plate never touched anyone else’s this wouldn’t have been possible. I did discover they’d put my toast in the panini machine albeit in paper so had I known that I wouldn’t have attempted to eat it( I’m assured the panini machine was clean but the fact it’s used for gluten items makes it very suspect. A dedicated toaster should have been used in an establishment advertising they can cater for allergies. Luckily I didn’t eat much of the breakfast as it was pretty awful. Cups were chipped btw. Unfortunately I found their response very defensive with no concern for me being poorly. Hence the poor rating overall .

I went for breakfast wished I hadn’t. Knowing and loving my English breakfasts as I do, I should have smelled a rat really. The old saying you get what you pay for is spot on. This was one of the worst breakfast s I’ve had in a long time. Cheap ingredients ! At £6.50 you don’t expect the best but this was almost inedible in my opinion.

Visited Bridgnorth on the way home from a weekend in Shropshire. Spotted the cafe and having had no breakfast headed in. A wide selection of breakfast and brunch dishes available and we were sat by the window with a lovely view. We both ordered a brunch dish of Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns, Mushrooms and Baked Beans and added an Egg to each one. The food was all delicious and generous portions too especially the bacon which delighted my bacon loving husband! The bill for the two brunch dishes with the extra eggs together with a Latte and a Black Coffee came to less than £20 - don’t know how they manage the quality of the food at those low prices

Visited for my partners birthday breakfast and weren’t disappointed. This place is BUSY and a must book - we were lucky and visited early for breakfast so missed the crowds that no doubt came later. I had a lovely full English, my partner had the eggs Benedict - it was all perfectly cooked and the service was really good. The prices are so reasonable it’s ridiculous! 100% recommended

I was looking for somewhere to do a family afternoon tea as part of a hen celebrations. Violets Tea Room were fantastic to work with, they were quick to respond and happy to help. They gave us a large table and allowed us to arrive a little early to put some little decorations out on the table. The afternoon tea was served promptly and everyone got their own three tier stand (no sharing required). There was a choice of hot drinks and soft drinks and also a choice of different flavour scones which I hadn't expected so there was something for everyone. All the food was gorgeous and the tea stayed hot in the teapot even though we were there for a little while. The staff were attentive and happy to help. They don't have a huge amount of space in the tea room but they work hard with the space they do have and it's a really warm and welcoming space. I would highly recommend Violets tea room for a small event like we had (6 people) or if you just want a lovely place for a fab cuppa and cake then it's definitely worth a visit.

Going out with small children can be a bit daunting but the staff were amazing. They brought colouring books and pencils out. Offered smaller portions when ordering off the menu for the smaller ones. Upon paying the children were offered to find the tea room's Christmas gnome. If they spotted him they could get some sweets in return. Thank you. The food was great and we all left happy with the incentive to return. They have a great little playroom attached too. Very happy customers.

Violet's tea room can get busy so I would advise booking a table. There are two rooms, one with good views over the valley. There is a good choice of light lunches. The sandwiches are good quality. Services is friendly. It is not too expensive. The reason that I didn't give this is a higher rating is that the jacket potatoes were overdone with baked beans that were dried out.

The pluses. This cafe has a very nice view down across the valley of Bridgnorth, above the River Severn. The ambience and atmosphere is very pleasant and the lady who greeted us was friendly. We were seated at a table by the window which was perfect. Both myself and my partner ordered flat white and a scone. The cups of coffee arrived and both of then had been spilt over the saucers underneath. We asked for replacement saucers which were brought but no real apology and you got the impression these people wondered what you were on about. Now, the real low point; the scones. I had a lemon scone and my partner had a plain one. Both were probably the worst scones we had ever eaten and resembled something more akin to congealed sawdust formed in to scones. Neither of us finished them. The coffees were ok but nothing special. I can't say what the cakes were like or other food on offer. As I say; a lovely location, full of promise, but ruined by 0/10 scones and poor staff training.

Visited here for lunch with family. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who told us they were very busy and if we didn’t mind a wait they had a table available. This table happened to be right outside the ladies loo. (Door opens outwards right next to the table). The rest of the staff were miserable. A different Lady came over to order our food and we said we weren’t ready and she huffed off. Then a guy came to take our order and seemed a bit confused. Our food arrived and I asked for an extra slice of toast for my weaning baby. It took them until I’d finished my meal for the single slice of toast to come. Then we took longer to finish while my baby ate. All whilst the ladies toilet was super busy and people queued next to our table. The food was ok but the customer service needs work.

Wonderful place to escape the cold and rainy outside. The traditional 1940's theme was great and unique without being too much. Cracking music on the retro radio near the back. Superb views. Tea came in beautiful teapots and cups and the soup of the day...

Lovely place where we were warmly welcomed with our dogs. They couldn’t have done enough for us, even bringing our dogs a container of treats and water. Had a lovely lunch and as we are vegetarians, we were impressed with the selections on offer. Would highly recommend.

We visited Violets for the first time on Tuesday ..mom’s birthday treat. We were recommended by our friend Richard who visits every Saturday for a morning coffee. We weren’t disappointed !! The food was beautiful ! Sooo fresh and delicious! And so much of it .. we took some cakes home as we were stuffed ! We had a lovely spot in the corner window overlooking Bridgnorth . The ladies serving us were really lovely , nothing too much trouble , topping up the teapot , even a birthday candle for mom in her fairy cake .. all social distancing rules and sanitising in place so everywhere felt safe . Would definitely go back and try something else on the menu as it all looks yummy!! Thankyou Jackie and all the staff at Violets for a wonderful afternoon . Xx

Four of us decided to have a Sunday Lunch and were extremely happy. The portions were more than ample with plenty of meat and veggies and of very good quality. The service was excellent and could not be faulted. Without a shadow of doubt we will be returning. Thank you to everyone for making it a great experience

Brilliant little find on a Saturday morning in Feb. Staff were efficient, service was friendly and food come hot within five minutes of ordering. Old school quality large cafe breakfast with a brew for under £10 you can't go wrong.
