Violets Tea Room in Shropshire

This tea rooms is a diamond in the rough. Service is second to none, food is top quality. My wife and I both require a gluten free diet and we are well catered for here. Drinks are at a price well below all other places we have tried in Bridgnorth.

I was looking for somewhere to do a family afternoon tea as part of a hen celebrations. Violets Tea Room were fantastic to work with, they were quick to respond and happy to help. They gave us a large table and allowed us to arrive a little early to put some little decorations out on the table. The afternoon tea was served promptly and everyone got their own three tier stand (no sharing required). There was a choice of hot drinks and soft drinks and also a choice of different flavour scones which I hadn't expected so there was something for everyone. All the food was gorgeous and the tea stayed hot in the teapot even though we were there for a little while. The staff were attentive and happy to help. They don't have a huge amount of space in the tea room but they work hard with the space they do have and it's a really warm and welcoming space. I would highly recommend Violets tea room for a small event like we had (6 people) or if you just want a lovely place for a fab cuppa and cake then it's definitely worth a visit.

The staff were very good and the food was excellent a very friendly place to eat . I had the full breakfast and my wife had a sausage sandwich they were excellent value for money we will definitely eat there again

Great value for money. Themed in a vintage WW2 style with a lovely view and vintage crockery. Good location and friendly staff.

Lovely spot for a quick lunch. Friendly staff and quirky interior. Vegetarian friendly. Dog friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. A waitress brought fresh water for a customers dog. Quick service despite being at peak lunchtime and the cafe was busy. The view is good too.

Made to feel welcome with our dog from the moment we arrived. They even brought over her own water bowl and acknowledged her :-) The cakes were delicious and the prices were very reasonable. The staff were all super friendly and chatty. One of the best places we’ve visited and we travel a lot! Thank you very much! The decor is creative and lovely.

A wonderful hidden gem where you can eat cake and drink tea with a view over the town of Bridgnorth. Staff are friendly, courteous and efficient, cake was delicious and a lovely cup of tea. We'd heard good reports about Violet's and were not disappointed. After a warm welcome drinks were quickly served. The food was freshly prepared and there was plenty of it. It was very good value. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. They were catering that afternoon for a large party and yet managed to fit us in for lunch. Highly recommeded!

Visited Violets Tearoom for Mother’s Day with my mom and my daughter and on arrival we were met by a lovely friendly lady who helped us inside as my mom is in a wheelchair, from the moment we entered we were made to feel so welcome by all the staff . We were sat on a table by the window and the view was amazing over Bridgnorth .We had the Afternoon tea and when it was brought out we had three cake stands full of cakes scones sandwiches and even a little trifle along with a small bottle of Prosecco and a gift bag . The food was delicious and couldn’t fault any of it . We all enjoyed ourselves and would definitely visit again all the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was delicious we would all recommend Violets to anyone who’s thinking of visiting in the future.

We booked a table for 3 adults and 4 children. When we arrived we were greeted and shown to our table. The staff were very friendly and came to take our order. Going out with small children can be a bit daunting but the staff were amazing. They brought colouring books and pencils out. Offered smaller portions when ordering off the menu for the smaller ones. Upon paying the children were offered to find the tea room's Christmas gnome. If they spotted him they could get some sweets in return. Thank you. The food was great and we all left happy with the incentive to return. They have a great little playroom attached too. Very happy customers.

Attended today with my family for lunch. Really accommodating, friendly staff and so patient with us. One of us had an allergy and staff took the time to check every single ingredient and even bought out the packaging so we could properly check, even though they were busy. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and lovely coffee. Also had vegan and gluten free options on menu. Beautiful views as well and spacious inside. Would definitely recommend.

Violet's tea room can get busy so I would advise booking a table. There are two rooms, one with good views over the valley. There is a good choice of light lunches. The sandwiches are good quality. Services is friendly. It is not too expensive. The reason that I didn't give this is a higher rating is that the jacket potatoes were overdone with baked beans that were dried out.

The pluses. This cafe has a very nice view down across the valley of Bridgnorth, above the River Severn. The ambience and atmosphere is very pleasant and the lady who greeted us was friendly. We were seated at a table by the window which was perfect. Both myself and my partner ordered flat white and a scone. The cups of coffee arrived and both of then had been spilt over the saucers underneath. We asked for replacement saucers which were brought but no real apology and you got the impression these people wondered what you were on about. Now, the real low point; the scones. I had a lemon scone and my partner had a plain one. Both were probably the worst scones we had ever eaten and resembled something more akin to congealed sawdust formed in to scones. Neither of us finished them. The coffees were ok but nothing special. I can't say what the cakes were like or other food on offer. As I say; a lovely location, full of promise, but ruined by 0/10 scones and poor staff training.

Day trip to bridge north and the family decided to stop at violets tea room for tea & cake ,well had a great cup of tea plus cake the service was great the staff were friendly. Top draw for us. Keep it up Violet tea rooms.

I wanted to celebrate a BIG birthday with my girlfriends who live in and around Bridgnorth. I booked Violet's Tea Room because it had a good reputation and because of the lovely position. I wasn't disappointed! The food was delicious and so copious that every one of my 20+ friends took home a box of goodies. The service was impeccable and really helpful. They even made me a birthday cake. It is a lovely spot. Thank you for making the day so special for me.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It is 1940s themed and cosy and atmospheric with terrific views over the river valley and low Town. The food is really tasty. Plentiful portions and very nicely cooked. It is also dog and child friendly. We will definitely be visiting again.

Ambiance - the view is beautiful, the inside is purple and British themed, very cute. Service - ran by some lovely women who were nothing but kind and attentive to us! Food - we all loved our food! We had breakfast here and all gave it five out of five stars. Value for money - excellent! For what it is, it’s fantastic!

Found this after walking up from the bottom as Bridgnorth Cliff Railway is closed, what a very nice pleasant location and staff just as pleasant sat drinking tea watching the world go bye. We will return next next as this location is miles from our home in Bournemouth but well worth a visit as we travel up for the Shrewsbury Food Festival as an exhibitor.

Utterly delightful in all respects - comfortably furnished indoors but also with the option of eating on a terrace with good views , lovely friendly staff and very prompt service .Spoiled for choice when it came to deciding what to eat - we both opted for the quiche and salad and loved it. Just sorry this was a holiday visit and hence cannot eat there regularly !

Afternoon Tea for 8 people: 3 Traditional, 3 Gentleman's and 2 children's afternoon tea were exceptional. Never before been asked to decide what flavour scone (all delicious). Children's tea served with milk shake served in a tea pot-brilliant. Gentleman's tea had lovely pork pie, sausage roll and scotch egg. All sandwiches lovely. One of the best Aftetnoon Teas had in a lovely setting served so well. Thankyou Violets. We will be back.

Although we have visited Bridgnorth many times we have never been to Violets. We were lucky to get a table by the window and the views were lovely. The menu has good choice and is very reasonable. The food when it came was lovely and staff were pleasant. We will certainly be back!

Visited here for lunch with family. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who told us they were very busy and if we didn’t mind a wait they had a table available. This table happened to be right outside the ladies loo. (Door opens outwards right next to the table). The rest of the staff were miserable. A different Lady came over to order our food and we said we weren’t ready and she huffed off. Then a guy came to take our order and seemed a bit confused. Our food arrived and I asked for an extra slice of toast for my weaning baby. It took them until I’d finished my meal for the single slice of toast to come. Then we took longer to finish while my baby ate. All whilst the ladies toilet was super busy and people queued next to our table. The food was ok but the customer service needs work.

We visited Violets for the first time on Tuesday ..mom’s birthday treat. We were recommended by our friend Richard who visits every Saturday for a morning coffee. We weren’t disappointed !! We have had afternoon tea delivered by Violet's Tea Room twice in the last few weeks, ordering is easy and delivery very punctual. I originally tried Violet's as a birthday treat for my husband during the depth of lockdown. They provide the nicest afternoon tea I have ever tasted. The sandwiches are really fresh with have a good selection of fillings and have a crisp salad and pot of coleslaw accompaniment. The scones are as light as air with ample jam & clotted cream to go on them. Plus a boxful of cakes each! It is all beautifully presented. There is so much to eat that this tea was our main meal of the day when we ordered 3 for lunchtime to celebrate seeing my daughter and being able to sit with her in our garden for the first time in weeks. A wonderful way to celebrate any occasion or just as a nice treat to brighten your day.

Great to see Violet's back in action - always get a big welcome there. We thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway afternoon tea which was a wedding anniversary gift and very much look forward to our first post lock down visit.

Due to my dad shielding from Covid, I knew I wouldn’t be able to take him for afternoon tea or a meal like I normally would on Fathers Day. Violet’s Tea Room was somewhere that Dad and I had visited in person and I was so excited when I saw that they did afternoon tea deliveries. I was able to order two very reasonably priced adult afternoon teas via Facebook messenger and paid by PayPal. The teas came to our door in four full boxes with all sorts of sandwich and cake delights. They even added a personalised cupcake and message for my Dad. Jackie, who I dealt with, was so helpful and friendly throughout and the tea was delivered exactly on time - even on a Sunday! Can’t recommend Violet’s enough. The food was delicious and service impeccable. Will definitely be back as soon as they reopen after lockdown!

What a find! My granddaughters loved it there! So many quirky items to admire in the decor, a delightful little space for children to play and the most glorious home made cakes ! A proper traditional old English afternoon tea - a delicious selection of cakes and huge slices of whatever you choose and real china cups and saucers with not a mug in sight. The tea, of course, was served in a china teapot! Those were the days!

We had lunch today which was excellent. We brought someone with us for the first time and they were so impressed with the kindness of the staff and the excellent food. We have been coming for a long time and have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and kindness. A lovely place with amazing views, great service, excellent food and lovely staff.
