Lovely environment and friendly staff but we sat outside and the food was brought out before the cutlery which was a long time coming so our lunch was going cold. I only had beans on toast but the portion of beans was so small it was hardly worth a quarter of the price paid for it. I had to go to the Spa shop and buy a chocolate bar as I was still hungry when we left. My companion's scrambled egg was a much better sized portion but lacked seasoning. I am sorry but here are better places to eat in Ludlow! We won't return.

We stumbled across this little gem, tucked away down a passageway. we are so happy that we did. Everything about this Cakery is first class. From helpful, friendly staff, to cakes to die for. Though for us the hot chocolate was the real masterpiece . the best we have ever had. The staff/owner really seem to appreciate and understand their customers. Gluten free cakes for my wife, Dog friendly for our pooch, free Wi-fi for those who can't put their phone down, plenty of space inside and out. Perfect!!

I was in Ludlow on Monday 14 around 2pm when I saw a sign on the street promoting this establishment as a "gem" and that turned out to be a fair comment!! I had a very tasty tuna sandwich and a lovely coffee, both reasonably priced.. The cafe is very clean - cleansing and social distancing measures were very reassuring. Only downside was that I couldn't get a table outside as so many people were already enjoying their food out on the patio, but that is a very minor quibble. I can most definitely recommend the Cottage Cafe to anyone visiting Ludlow.

This cafe is a hidden gem. The strict Covid 19 procedures are adhered to here, and we both felt extremely safe eating and drinking inside this lovely cafe. Whenever we visit Ludlow we usually come and have a cup of tea/coffee sometimes lunch too. The staff are always courteous, friendly and welcoming. My husband enjoys their bacon sandwiches and I love the selection of cakes but chose a gorgeous toasted tea cake on this visit. On using the toilet it was extremely hygienic with hand gel dispenser outside. The outside tables are in a lovely garden area but sadly all full on our last visit so we took the dog friendly indoor table.

Visited on a day trip to Ludlow. What a lovely little hidden gem. Up a little ginnel of the main road. Plenty of seating outside as well as inside. We opted to sit out with having 2 dogs with us and being a sunny day. The tables had signs on them saying whether they had been sanitizer due to Covid19 and was available to sit at. Toilets clean with hand sanitizer available at the door. We only had 2 coffees which was very nice, the food that was being served looked lovely, fresh and plenty on the plates, I just wished I was hungry. The staff was lovely and friendly and did wear protective face coverings. Would definitely advise a visit if your in the area.

The A board says this is Ludlow's hidden gem, and they're not wrong. When you live in a town, you tend to revisit the same reliable places again and again. On way to the cafe I saw a discarded glass bottle behind a car belonging to the owner of The Cottage Cafe. Being community spirited, as it could have caused damage, I picked it up. Seeing a recycling bin I went to put it in. The cafe owner opened the cafe door and very aggressively, shouted at me not to put the bottle in the bin. My explanation was completely dismissed, and this person continued haranguing me. When I went to put it on one of her tables, she shouted at me to go away. The hairdressers next door very kindly took the bottle off me and disposed of it.Next time I see a bottle in the vicinity of her car I’ll leave it there. Such rude and arrogant behaviour for no reason, is not acceptable. I won’t be visiting her premises again, and will be loudly informing my friends and acquaintances likewise.

We found this café after searching Ludlow for over an hour, plenty suggest dog friendly if you eat outside, we don't like eating outside. So finding this café was welcome as we could take our dogs inside, we needed to get in the shade so it was a great little find. On ordering we were told that there was a 20 minute wait no problem as it was towards the end of lunchtime so we expected a delay. However the wait turned out to be nearly double that but when the food came it really was worth the wait it was fresh and hot (3 egg omelette with extras) We both really enjoyed our food and the very pleasant proprietor gave us a second pot of fresh tea and hot water for no extra charge despite our offer to pay for it - so well done and thank you. I would recommend that if you are looking for a dog friendly café with great food while your in Ludlow then this café is for you - however expect to wait a while at busy times - which says it all really!! The dogs were welcomed and they enjoyed the rest as well. We will return.

Five of us had a sandwich lunch. We ordered, drinks and cutlery arrived but no food. After about 25 mins, with 3 highly agitated children, and other tables having ordered after us receiving their food, we decided to query where our lunch was. Essentially, the food order was just sitting on the side and no-one had bothered to take it to the kitchen. I was told that it would be sorted out straight away but there was no apology. An apology was mumbled by the person who brought the food but it was hardly fitting for the length of wait. It is beyond me how no one could see that we had been waiting for a ridiculous amount of time and didn’t actually query it.

Perhaps we caught them on a bad day judging from other reviews. We called in for lunch at around 1.30pm. They had already sold out of the daily soup so we ordered a toasted sandwich and an ordinary sandwich. A number of tables were taken but most people seemed to have already been served. Our tea arrived quickly but without any milk. I asked for some extra water but neither milk nor water made an appearance. The couple behind us decided to leave having had too long a wait for their food. We waited and waited. The waitress was much more interested in talking to some customers she knew in the corner of the cafe, completely ignored any other customer. We went to the counter to ask about our food, no one there. Called upstairs to kitchen but got no reply. Eventually had to break into the waitresses conversation to ask her to find our food. When it eventually arrived the sandwiches were fine. My prawn sandwich was very well filled on fresh thickly sliced granary bread. My husband enjoyed his toasted sandwich. We would have preferred plain crisps rather than the salt and vinegar ones.

I enjoyed a pot of tea and a slice of delicious cranberry and orange flapjack. Some of my friends had cold drinks and smoothies. I would have given an 5 star rating if only a pot of hot water had been provided so that the tea could have been adjusted to an individual's preferred strength which I consider really important. Otherwise, as excellent choice!

Stopped here for lunch with my wife whilst visiting Ludlow. Clean looking place with the usual tea room menu from which we picked the quiche and a tuna panini. Food and drinks were adequate but not good enough to make us want to return. Drinks came very quickly and we'd nearly finished them by the time the food arrived which was a bit annoying. Service was below par with dirty cutlery and plates left on the tables – perhaps they were short staffed that day? Not sure this can be the normal stahdard given the high ratings by other people? Finally there was one particular table situated very close to a fire exit which a number of customers tried using to enter the café much to the annoyance of the customer sitting there. Overall a bit disappointing and we would not go again.

Very quiet when we went in, staff were very friendly and quick. Had the peacan and caramel cake which was huge and very tasty. Also had a tuna melt, which again was huge and tasty, and fantastic value for money. Staff were walking round trying to look busy though

Popped in for a coffee recently and decided to have a pannini whilst there! After reading all good reviews I was looking forward to my visit however, upon receiving my tomato, pesto and mozzarella pannini I was very disappointed! It came with kettle crisps (granted this is just my opinion) but I don't like kettle crisps as they are a little hard and very plain! It also came with a salad on the side, no salad dressing which again was disappointing but also tasted and felt like it had been out for several hours! Mozzarella is the cheap, pre-grated, bagged version which wasn't even melted in the middle (tepid) pesto tasted off and to round it off the pannini was burnt on the bottom!

Not really sure why we followed the signs for this tea shop down a narrow alley off the main walkway but I am glad we did. Nice little seating are, with upstairs seating with friendly, chatty staff and no fuss drink.

This cafe is tucked away up a side alley. It well worth seeking out. A great selection of home baked cakes, good coffee (including monin syrups) and a pleasant ambience (especially upstairs).

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend
