Right opposite the river's weir is a little crop of paddocks with goats and other animals in and with it a log cabin style cafe. This is a great place to visit whilst on a walk along the river bank. There is inside and outside terrace seating as well as a great little children's play area and all of the animals to watch too. Don't be fooled by the unpretentious nature of the place. The food is excellent - we had a normal and a vegetarian breakfast and they were delicious. The lady who served us and I guess runs the place greeted us with a huge smile and welcome - she clearly loves what she does and this really adds to the place's charm. Cyclists were using it as well as families with young children. Have you explored this bit of Shrewsbury? You should and stop by here. Simple and effective and also really good value in terms of cost. Well worth a visit.

During a long walk I came across the Weir in the River Severn, Castlefields, Shrewsbury. This is a great location - watching the salmon jump upstream etc. Then I saw Polly's Kitchen - it overlooks the weir. Brand spanking new, really great location next to an animal farm. Lovely food on offer, but I just had a drink of proper tea! Two lovely friendly staff/owner! This deserves to do well I am sure it is going to be very popular when people discover it. Disability access and great for children - so much to see!

We often cycle from Bicton Heath, through The Quarry and along to the wier. What a lovely surprise today when, reaching our destination, we discovered this newly opened cafe. We were welcomed by a very friendly member of staff and served one full and one vegetarian breakfast - both of which were excellent, as were the mugs of coffee and tea. We will certainly return for more, especially when the couple on the next table said how lovely the chocolate cake was!

Second visit to Pollys. Today we had breakfast which was awesome... really, it was. Its still early days, a few teething issues but these were sorted. Lovely place. Highly recommended.

This location was crying out for a cafe, given the stunning location overlooking the river and weir and there is nothing else near this part of the town. So, good for the owners of Polly's to have a go. It is early days but we really hope that it will succeed, although it needs a bit of a tweak, perhaps. The layout of the tables makes it rather cramped, and the decoration is very bland. Service is very friendly but a little slow, although that could be because it is quite busy, which is great. The food is ok, with a good selection and the prices are reasonable. This place deserves to succeed. It just needs to be slightly more professional. As things stand, I would recommend it.

Polly's nestles next to Shrewsbury's impressive weir. A beautiful rural location just minutes from the centre of town, reached by a short walk along the River Severn where you can watch swans with their young, kingfishers and in the summer shoals of swallows and swifts. Polly's is a real treasure offering home made food cooked for you while you wait. A great range of breakfasts and lunches with creative vegetarian options too, such as Griddled Peach and Feta salad. Tea is served in good sized mugs, just like being at home. Sit back, relax and enjoy the friendly, peaceful atmosphere and watch the world go by at your leisure. You won't be disappointed,

Beautiful meal last night. The steak was cooked to perfection and the seabass was beautiful. Nikki and Grace were very attentive, as always, ensuring that you have everything you need and always having time for a chat whilst serving their customers.

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far
