With access through the Old corn Mill antiques centre, the Vintage Tea Room is beautifully clean, but has a rather spartan appearance; reminiscent of a works canteen. and lacks refinement in presentation. Our bacon sandwiches were well filled with delicious, well cooked bacon; but the two slices of bread should have been destined for 'doorstep' toast. Although fresh and of a decent texture and taste, the thickness of the bread tended to detract from the filling. Whilst we were asked if we would like any cutlery or sauces, we had to request a paper napkin. Appearances do matter, and it was a little off-putting to see a man, who we presumed be the cook, simply dressed in ordinary outdoor clothes, wandering around outside with tea towel over his shoulder. The staff were friendly and helpful; the menu interesting and quite extensive for a small establishment, and we are sure that other meals would be as well cooked and tasty as was our bacon filling. A little more attention to detail would make a huge difference. Oh yes - and the coffee was good.

What a lovely surprise to find this wonderful venue tucked into an antique store! Mark, the chef, and Barbara, his wife, extended a warm welcome and a wonderful food experience. The steak pie was perfect and my "take home" scone is sure to please. What a treat!!!!!!

Was impressed with the tearooms (1st visit). Myself and Mr D sampled what was described as "Egg Custard", on inspection it had a strange biscuit type base with a greasy aftertaste and a slimy filling which also tasted strange. Due to this and fortunately for us we didn't finish eating them but it still resulted in Two days of pain and inconvenience resulting in a fear of touching cake again. Needless to say we will not be returning or recommending this venue to anyone. Also a bit expensive on viewing the menu.

What an excellent place to have a break. The food is excellent and the drinks are of a decent size for what are reasonable prices .Located inside an Antiques Centre where you can spend an hour browsing in the expanding rooms overflowing with items from an earlier time this cafe is a little gem and what I would describe as a traditional tea room was it not for the extensive menu, all day breakfasts and display of dazzling cakes on offer. Whether antique hunting or looking for a reasonably priced meal or snack this is clearly the place to call in.

We had lunch here, a nice selection on the menu to choose from and all looked very nice. We ended up having a big breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, fried egg, baked beans, black pudding, fried potatoes and mushrooms, tomato and toast, and delicious it was too!! We couldn't manage any pudding but the cakes in the cabinet looked lovely. We bought some gingerbread to eat at home, it was ever so tasty. We then had a quick walk around the Old Corn Mill antiques centre which was very interesting, trying to spot things that we had up the attic at home!! The food in the café is very reasonably priced and the staff are lovely and friendly.

Nice down to earth food of good quality. Cakes very nice and limited menu lunch items very good. Afternoon tea is a real treat. Very small and only a handful of tables so can get busy and cramped quickly.

We had heard that they had moved from Banks to here and knowing how good the food was we stopped off for a spot of lunch. The food was lovely very tasty and even though we had soup and sandwich and a Vanilla latte we had no room for anything else. It was very well priced and fantastic and so glad to have stopped off. Can't wait to return.

Hartwood Hall is 'ok' if you are stuck for somewhere. We stayed on a Sunday evening and by 6pm all the Sunday roast menu was unavailable, along with a number of other side & main dishes. Tables in the pub area had plates and glasses left on them for well over an hour and it was not busy. No issues with the food we ordered, and it arrived quickly. The room was boiling hot even though the radiator was off, bed rock hard and uncomfy, shower woeful dribble but all fairly clean. TV remote very dirty/dusty between the buttons so needed a wet-wipe. Breakfast was ok, apart from drinks glasses being dirty and stuck face down to a small wooded tray; plus the cleaner was hoovering throughout the pub as the hotel guests ate breakfast. Should be done before or after breakfast. Pub staff are all friendly and helpful.

I went here for a coffee and was expecting it to be peaceful being located in a park. I was wrong! The place was more like a dog kennel than a cafe and so as you can imagine very noisy! Add to that it's expensive and the coffee was not good. Won't be returning!
